Hello! Here's a few reminders and notes for the CS sheets. On the next few tabs you may find the forms, along with the code we used for our CSes, and a character list. The CS sheets were created by Kit, with HUGE thanks to Nano for streamlining the code and making it mobile-friendly (and then further edits made by Kit for the cool new look)!!! The code is below!


1. CREDIT! YOUR! IMAGES!! It's required.

2. Char max is ONE.

3. Higher-up positions are APPLICATION-based. In the 'rank' section, you will put APPLYING FOR [position] if you wish to be in a limited rank.

4. Age minimum for characters is 18.

5. Canon will start on March 16th, 2037.

6. You may either choose a partner or enter our raffle. More raffle info will be in the Discord server, besties.

7. Using our code is entirely optional. We just thought it'd be fun ^^

    MISC: Typically decorates parts of her hair with orange accessories. She also has an eyepatch she dyed black covering her right eye, with an orange gemstone/button? in the middle of it.

    PERSONALITY: All she does is for her love of science. Due to this, she often ignores the feelings, health, and safety of others for the prospect of progress in the scientific field. Does it matter if you die if it means the Union is one step closer to the pinnacle of technological advancements? She's blatantly manipulative and snide, and has a bitter and sarcastic sense of humor. She often hides insults under the guise of mere fact.

    HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Sybil is the eldest of three siblings born to a mother in the police force and a stay at home dad. Growing up, she had a strong interest in science and adventuring, possibly planted by stories her mom told about being a cop. She often lied to her parents about her skills and intelligence and frequently skipped classes, instead opting to teach herself many things on her own. Though for the first few years of her life, her first partner was her oldest brother, he had grown distant. Due to the older one becoming more free-spirited and off on his own most of the time, Sybil had taken a liking to her youngest brother. They became close through and despite Sybil's horrific treatment towards him.

    At age 24, Sybil joined the Union, and a year later, her youngest brother followed suit, despite their mother being disappointed in their choice. Her other brother, however, didn't. Over 6 years, Sybil quickly rose in ranks, until, three years ago, when she became Chief. Around that time, there was a significant surge of hellspawn appearing in the hands of the Union. ...One can only wonder why.

      PERSONA
      PERSONALITY:
      Steadfast. Dedicated. Ambitious. Loyal. Sasha Sanban is, and always has been, a good kid at heart. While appearing to be a cool, calm and tranquil Deputy, he is surprisingly polite, kind and selfless towards others. Sasha cares greatly for his peers, and strives to help people in any way he can in order to continue growing as both a Deputy and a leader. However, this untamed selflessness can very easily put him at risk, as he is known for putting others miles ahead of himself -- often with no regard for his own health or even his life.

      As an employee of the Union, Sasha is usually very composed and coolheaded. He takes his role as a peacekeeper very seriously, and has adapted an extremely loyal mindset towards his organization, rarely tolerating nonsense or antics on the job. Sasha is very humble when it comes to his abilities and skills as both a Deputy and an Escort, but still holds and air of confidence around him. He aims to appear as a strong, dependable person that others can look up to and rely on to protect and serve no matter what.

      In combat, Sasha is extremely adept and capable. Like most in his family, he is an extremely quick and pragmatic thinker, and is capable of analyzing most situations with little to no difficulty. He prefers to calculate outcomes and control battles rather than charge in head-first with no plan. When facing an enemy, Sasha's performance depends on the difference in strength between himself and his opponent. He tries to stay confident, but fear can easily affect his combat sense if the person he is facing significantly trumps him in terms of power.

      A normal child, born into a normal household, with normal parents and normal siblings... At least, that was what Sasha thought he was. Growing up, Sasha was a high-spirited socialite with a love for exploring the outdoors. When his siblings were out doing their own thing together, he was spending time running around with friends from school and scouring the woods for any cool things he could find.

      As he got older, Sasha's brother drifted off to do his own thing-- leaving his sister searching for someone to spend time with. He quickly became that somebody, and with this new person suddenly such a big part of his life, things changed. As he underwent Sybil's mistreatment, Sasha went from a bubbly, happy-go-lucky child to an aloof, stoic one. Still, for some reason, he remained faithful to his sibling, even going so far as to mindlessly follow her into the Union.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND: The brother of a sister. He came into a decently long line of Union members, and the torch skipped his sister and was passed to him as soon as he was old enough. His first partner was one named Killua Janko, and only a few years after would he be granted a second escort, Takeshi Ueno. Unfortunately, two years after, Killua suffered a death on a hunt, leaving Keisuke alone with Takeshi. Over his total of 14 years within the Union, he grew into a stunning member of both his family and the organization, with a near-perfect track record and flawless skin. He became Captain of the Beast Extermination Division only a few months ago, at which point the next in line joined the rankings--- his niece. He was a bit less than pleased.

      DESCRIPTION: Montique makes no effort to blend in. A tall, well-built foreigner with blond hair tipped in purple, often adorned in makeup, is quite eye-catching in Japan. Likened to an idol, Montique takes great care in his appearance, be it his clothing or gait.

      PERSONA
      PERSONALITY: Outgoing and charismatic, Montique comes across as a famous idol more than he would the Captain of Law Enforcement. One peek at his social media supports that sentiment, too. At the same time, this reputation is the exact reason why the general public have a higher opinion of this division (and why some of the more violent members are overlooked). Montique plays into this celebrity-esque role knowing this. While supportive and friendly, he's just as analytical and observant. Despite his outward demeanor, he puts a lot more thought into his position than it appears.

      Everything about him is two-faced, one way or another...

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Montique's past is filled with incidents of protest, resistance, and conflict. The son of a middle-class family in Paris, his parents worked night and day, barely spending time with their child. The result was a kid raised on the streets, allying himself with all sorts of people.

      His teen years saw a rise in action against authority figures. By that time, he'd formed an idea that every government entity was corrupt or out of touch in someway; his family's bare minimum way of life fueled that feeling. Montique took part in every form of protest that overcame France back then. He fell in with a crowd on the more extreme end—an action that provided a new perspective to the boy. Listening to people in that group speak, he realized this was not the life he was meant for.

      Without a word, he left that part of life behind with his adolescence.

      Jaded by life itself, Montique had nothing to do but focus on his academics. He'd revive his grades and earn enough credits to graduate. The boy developed a passion for learning things, picking up new subjects and hobbies left and right, then dropping them as soon as he bored of them. After that... he had no idea what to do.

      At least, until the Union presented itself, scouting for recruits. An international group that fought for something other than wealth or prestige or any other line of greed he came to resent, Montique applied, ironically for Law Enforcement.

      With a history of going against the grain, Montique had a firm sense of justice and righteousness that he carried with him. This was ever apparent when he exposed his superior of taking bribes and doing dirty work for influential figures. The Chief of the France department recognized his integrity and promptly favored him. Montique would rise up the ranks and develop his public reputation as an authority figure on the people's side—and a beauty.

      When he was transferred to Japan to aid against Ibara, Montique brought his persona with him. The local populace almost immediately made a celebrity out of him, an image he proudly embraced while effectively doing his job.

      He also used this opportunity to wipe his past.

      His files are redacted from most of the Union's viewing. When asked, Montique will provide a variety of randomized, contradicting stories. He claimed to be Madeline De La Fontaine's nephew at one point; then the last millionaire relative of a noble family from the 1700s; then a masked opera singer in France only known as Le Fantome. Sometimes he claims he was born in Italy, other times in Portugal. He makes it a point for others not to know much about his personal life.

      After all, Ibara wasn't the only reason he was sent to Japan. Rumors of corruption in the branch reached the Director's ears, and who better to sniff it out than him?

      DESCRIPTION: Short and thin by nature, Reiza may come across as weak (or in some cases, a child). She promptly responds to these assumptions by brandishing her Hellspawn, or tightly squeezing the person's arm. Her regular expression is a permanent scowl, leading many to believe she's more ill-mannered than she really is. Reiza keeps her hair trimmed short above her neck, only seeing it as a liability if grown too much.

      MISC: Her eyes glow orange in the dark.

      PERSONALITY: First impressions of Reiza follow a similar pattern: rude, abrasive, strict, all sorts of temperament issues. She snaps at people for their mistakes, and people often feel like they have to be at their best, even if the situation does not call for it. What they seldom see, however, is her admittance that she doesn't know how to communicate in a patient manner. They can't see her internal mechanisms as she makes her own mistakes, mentally beating herself up over it and resolving it without dragging anyone else in; or when a coworker makes an especially devastating mistake, and she fixes it without their or anyone's knowledge (unless they ask).

      Reiza does in fact care about her peers. Everything she does, she sees as ensuring they don't get fired and disappear. In her mind, any mistake can be a step towards recklessness, and a step closer to death. Such was a fate that met the previous Captain. People have died on her watch; never again.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Born to a zealously nationalist family, Reiza grew up with a mindset of loyalty and duty. Everything she did, it was meant to be for a greater future— regardless of the means to get there. Such was the case throughout school, where she marked the top of her academics at the cost of a social life or positive reputation, and excelled in physical activities (despite her small stature) careless of who she hurt on accident. Only future prospects were in priority.

      In a peacetime era, the only place Reiza figured she could do her country a service was the Union. As soon as she reached of age, she applied and entered training for the Spec Ops division. Even there, her reputation as a temperamental and strict character followed. Anyone who couldn't keep up with her, she disregarded. Anyone who couldn't follow orders to a T, she refused to work with.

      But through this mindset, she passed with relative ease, becoming a sort of prodigy in the ranks.

      Reiza partnered with a snarky Escort with fire abilities named Yuhara, Kano. They served under Spec Ops Captain Otsuka, Seiji.

      Despite her admittedly disrespectful behavior, the team worked well together. Whether it was Kano's own attitude balancing things out or Seiji's leadership keeping things together, there was a notable and gradual change in Reiza. The more time she spent with them—getting to know them—the slowly she realized there was more to life than serving a purpose to a nation.

      It wasn't a unfolding journey she'd see to the end.

      Operation: █████, a rescue mission during an Ibara siege on a government building, ended in disaster. One that ended in the deaths of her partner, Captain Seiji, and several others in the division. The remaining hostages lost their lives in the event.

      In the following weeks, the surviving specialists met a pattern of fates: psychiatric help, quitting, or suicide. Reiza ended up in the first option.

      Unlike the others, however, she returned.

      And when she did, it was like nothing had ever happened. Her usual temper remained, and she took the promotion to Captain as dutifully as ever, seeing as there was nobody else as qualified left. Still, more observant peers could see the cracks in her exterior: the moments of fear and worry and guilt. The newfound caution in her reprimanding tone, hoping their mistakes won't lead to anything dire.

      At her request, she had Kano's heart used to create a Hellspawn. She wields it everywhere, believing that this is the only way he and his memory can live on.

      DESCRIPTION:
      It'd be an understatement to say Saeb was only just slightly intimidating at first sight. Covered head to toe in silver armour; his golden irises, that shine as bright as stars, lay upon a bleak faceplate and bounce around the deep void that are his eyes. Even someone considered tall would feel tiny standing face to face with Saeb, straining their neck to meet eye to eye with him.
      Looking past his intimidating stature, its possible to see his armour is inspired by knights, specifically the ones he saw in fairy tales he read as a child. The reality is that Saeb goes out of his way to make his appearance as peaceful as possible. Without the inspiration of his fairy tales he would have wound up looking like The Object, from Stellar IV, a monster. The silver of his armour is simply paint, that he spends long hours applying to every inch, is used to cover a brown-terracotta tone. The smoothness of his armour is due to him tediously sanding every surface of his body; down from rough, rock-like texture. All of this hard work just for him to cover it up with a uniform.
      MISC: Outside of union related business Saeb typically wears some kind of sleeveless upper-wear (Hoodie, jacket, ect), while leaving the rest pretty bare since he isn't exactly "naked".

      PERSONALITY:
      Saeb's principles were influenced by the code of conduct that knights followed in fairy tales he read. The Courage to undergo difficult tasks that may put oneself in harm's way to save another. The ability to uphold Justice, to be on the side of good quelling injustice, and to adhere to the rules everyone follows. The Integrity to stay true to one's convictions and promises no matter how small, even when there is no one to witness it. The presence to instill Hope to the people around them, shining bright to rid the shadow that fear casts. Finally the Generosity to share one's time, attention, and money to help better the ones in need.
      Outside of Saeb's fairy tale idolization he does have real reasons to uphold these values. He's riddled with guilt for things he has done in the past, he's lost count of how many life's he's taken, not even his family was exempt. Truthfully Saeb shouldn't even be here, he should have died a long time ago; but he didn't and he's not going to let this second chance go to waste.With this new life he's turning over a new leaf, striving to be a good person, to atone.
      No matter how hard Saeb trys ti come off as confident he's still scared of being scrutinized by others. Not exactly often that one sees a heavily armoured individual taking a stroll down the streets of Tokyo. Some would watch in curiosity, but most would step as far away as possible, their caution being crystal clear. For that reason he does his utmost to stay out of the public eye, rarely leaving the dormitory unless for Union related business.
      Being predominantly mute, due to an injury he received as a child, along with an not so expression-able face leads to more hiccups in communication than Saeb would like. It's pushed him to learn some sign language, though his preferred way of "speaking" would be through to Text to Speech function of his tablet.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:

      A terrorist organization by the name of Al-Wakhaz (Wa-Huh-Zoo), ran rampant throughout Saeb's homeland. They advocated for Variants to have the same rights as Non-Variants, but from the start Al-Wakhaz was regarded as a Variant extremist group for its over the top methods. A great example for Al-Wakhaz's reputation would certainly be the first time they appeared, when they attacked an assembly regarding the rights of Variants and Non-Variants alike. Between the government officials attending the assembly and the civilians present outside the building protesting, the casualty count had quickly risen over a hundred, and the attack was deemed devastating. According to the reports of survivors, not one of the attackers was a Non-Variant, but the most noteworthy price of information gained from witnesses is that none of the attackers looked to be any older than 15-16 years of age. That event and the sequential attacks made by Al-Wakhaz enhanced the preexisting tension between the populace and Variants drastically. Attacks on Variants rose at an alarming rate across the whole country.

      One would commonly think Saeb would be unlucky being born in a country where Variants are so heavily stigmatized, and they would be right, but not for the reason one would think.

      Saeb's birth was a messy accident. His parents, who were barely adults themselves, never intended to have a child so early; they didn't think they were ready for that level of responsibility, and the icing on the cake is that their parents disowned them over this whole fiasco. His parents attempted to step up to the responsibility, though. They thought that with enough love, they could make it all work. But love isn't always enough.

      When Saeb was around the age of 3, he was dropped into the hands of an orphanage. His parents didn't have the financial ability to care for him effectively. They thought he might have a chance at a better life if he were to be adopted, or that the orphanage could just take better care of him than they could. But Saeb didn't understand what was going on. He didn't understand why he couldn't be with Mommy and Daddy. He didn't understand why he was left in a place he didn't know, with people he didn't know, and it was tough for him to get used to this new situation.

      Even though his parents cut him out of their life, they still kept in "contact" with him via letters. Saeb couldn't read them. There were only so many words he could recognize, much less understand. Even so, they kept coming every so often, and he cherished them; never letting anyone close to even touch them.

      By age 6, it was Saeb's third year at the orphanage. He made a few friends with the kids that were of similar age, but not all of those friendships lasted that long. Some were broken off because of fights or bickering; and others because they were adopted out of the orphanage. It wasn't all bad though, there were always kids coming in and replacing the ones that left. Still, it hurt to see people you were close with just leave out of the blue.

      To keep his mind off things, Saeb focused really hard on learning how to read. He wanted to be able to understand the things in the letters his parents sent him. He practiced with a variety of different books. Some were tough for his age, having complicated words; others were about stuff he either didn't understand, or just didn't care for; but there was this set of books that were his favorite, and ironically he couldn't read them. Those books were in a strange language he had never seen before, and even when he would ask the caretakers about them they couldn't make much sense of the books either. It didn't matter much though, the books had fewer words than pictures anyways.

      Once Saeb thought he was confident enough to look at the letters; he grabbed the first one he ever received, and it didn't take a single word for him to tear up. It was like they were right there. Whispering into his ear. It had been so long since he had last seen his parents, but their voices and faces were as clear as ever in his head. When Saeb read more letters the trickle of tears became a sob.

      The next few years, Saeb's outlook on the letters had started to change. The letters that Saeb had once looked forward to, the letters that made him cry because he was happy to have some kind of connection with his parents. Those letters changed. They made him realize that he wasn't a part of their life anymore. That happiness he once felt instead turned to disappointment. He wasn't waiting for them to come anymore. At some point, the letters had started to come less frequently. The gaps between each one grew until they stopped coming altogether.

      Saeb had spent 7 years in that orphanage. 7 years of waiting for something to happen. Waiting for his parents to change their minds, saying that it was just a joke. Waiting for someone to just want him. And it happened.

      (I hate writing, so I'm gonna pull a Nano. Spar me god)


      • -At the age of ten, little Saeb finally got adopted by what was supposed to be a "nice" couple. Well instead it was some people that worked for a little known terrorist organization by the name of Al-Wakhaz.
      • -Surprise, Little Saeb got sent over to a Al-Wakhaz compound in the middle of nowhere. Being the little kid that little Saeb was, he riotsed. Being the big bad terrorist organization that Al-Wakhaz was, they "took" away little Saeb's voice as a message to the rest of the new bunch of children.
      • -The new batch of kids got split into groups of 6. The 5 other kids little Saeb got grouped with became his closest friends in the compound.
      • -From the time little Saeb stepped into the compound to about the age of 12, he went through some rigorous training. They made little Saeb and the rest of the brats into obedient little soldiers. It wasn't through reasonable, well meaning tactics either; No, they dehumanized the kids. Took away their names and replaced them with numbers. Did more than just discipline them when they "misbehaved". No child should have gone through what they went through.
      • -When little Saeb had finished the 2 year long boot camp, Al-Wakhaz had prepared a celebration for him and the brats. A very special gift indeed. Here's a little secret. Saeb wasn't always a Variant, none of the brats that Al-Wakhaz took in were. That's right, Al-Wakhaz exposed him and all those other kids to the volcanic ashes of the Devil's Wrath. Not everyone survived.
      • -The kids that survived being infected with Devil's Wrath became Variants. The brats had their real names stripped from them, and we were replaced by a sequence of numbers. Now the kids were given new "names", in reference to the abilities they displayed. Most were given words that could hardly be considered names, and some were lucky to get ones that could pass off as an actual name. Such as Saeb.
      • -After going through the painful process of becoming an Overseer, little Saeb was forced into more than one contract with the Escorts of his group.
      • -The five years that followed after little Saeb was infected by Devil's Wrath were spent carrying out attacks on many places across his homeland. Him and the other children sowed chaos.
      • -Al-Wakhaz wasn't on The Union's radar for the most part. Even though The Union is largely international, not everyone wanted a Variant police force running amuck in their country. But that all changed towards the end of Saeb's stay at the compound, because Al-Wakhaz started to encroach on surrounding countries.
      • -When The Union heard news of a Variant based terrorist organization, they got to work real fast. A number of Union branches from Europe, Africa, and Asia collaborated on a large-scale overnight raid of Al-Wakhaz compounds. It was so out of the blue that no-one had a clue on what was going on once it started.
      • -The actions that kids from any of the compounds took could fall into 3 categories. Fight back. Give up and surrender. Or what little Saeb suggested to his mates, Run.
      • -Typically the compounds Al-Wakhaz ran were in unpopulated/lowly-populated areas, but sometimes they were in very dangerous areas; such as in by a large Beast nest. Guess where little Saeb & Co ran in a panic.
      • -Little Saeb & Co had a scrap with the Beasts after trespassing into their home. It left them all severely injured and forced little Saeb into overusing his ability, which gave him the appearance everyone knows and loves. He wasn't little anymore.
      • -The Japan branch of The Union searched the perimeter for any stragglers, and came across a half dead Saeb & Co. They tried to fight them off, but they weren't in the condition to resist and were easily apprehended.
      • -The Union knew the origins behind Al-Wakhaz's child soldiers, so unless their life's were put in harm's way, their goal wasn't to harm the kids. The Japan branch of The Union took Saeb and his friends into their custody, and during the transport back to their Headquarters they tended to Saeb & Co's wounds. Unfortunately not everyone made it.
      • -When everyone arrived in Japan, Saeb was thrown into a vacant Cell beneath HQ. In case things get messy when he wakes up. And things got messy. Decisions were made, therapy was started, and official procedures were completed. 2 years after the fall of Al-Wakhaz, at 19 Saeb officially joined The Union.

      PERSONALITY:
      the people who knew lilith as a child would say she was a decent kid. unfortunately, all of those people are dead. now, she is more often described as a ruthless sociopath with an affinity for blackmailing and manipulating people; she is a woman no one wants to cross. they either think she's crazy or they know how terrible she can be and would rather not get tangled up in her web.

      lilith is spiteful, sarcastic, and almost always angry even if she doesn't necessarily show it. if she happens to smile (a genuine smile, not one of those fake, condescending or smug ones) or is in a good mood, then it's either a miracle or the world is about to end. she's a difficult person to get along with due to her toxicity and nasty personality, but she could be nice; she simply chooses not to. she has never been given any reason to be nice.

      lilith is incredibly selfish and she hates getting advice or being scolded by others because she assumes that means they think she did something wrong. to be fair, she probably did do something wrong but she would never admit that. lilith was raised in a toxic household which played a large role in molding her into the woman she is today, but she embraced this part of her family and everything that happened to her.

      even though she has such a toxic personality, lilith isn't all that bad. she's actually quite lonely but would never in a million years admit that. that doesn't mean she'll try to become a better person so she can befriend others, though. she's still a bitch and isn't someone you want to cross paths with. lilith can be nice sometimes if she really tries, but that's a rare occurrence and only if she is very fond of you [which is also incredibly rare].

      she's very charming and flirtatious when she wants something, she appears to be a very sociable girl and someone who is a bit of a know-it-all. she's classy and has top-notch manners, she knows how to follow the rules but is also incredibly adept at finding loopholes and ways around them. this is the mask she wears to keep people, mainly the public, from discovering more sinister aspects of her personality.

      lilith is not a good person, but i want her to be redeemable at some point, and using pieces from both of these helps with that.
      truthfully, this one is more accurate to how lilith was as a kid. i am thinking this is how her personality started and then morphed more into the other one as she got older.
      lilith's outward appearance and personality are far different from who she actually is. lilith appears to be a very polite, bright, well-behaved girl. she can be a know-it-all and a rule follower. at a glance, she's often seen as 'perfect' or a 'model character'. at least, that's until you see the more sinister side of her. not often do people see how she truly acts, but that's simply because she hides it extremely well; having a pretty face helps fool others into believing how much of a saint she is. as of now, and since she was a child, no one has ever actually seen what she is truly like because of how well she leads people on. in truth, lilith is manipulative and doesn't hesitate to lie for her own personal gain. she's the definition of a troublemaker even though she seems to be such an obedient, well-behaved young woman, and honestly, that couldn't be farther from the truth. if she likes you then you have a loyal friend on your side and someone you can trust with your life. if you get on lilith's bad side then you are royally fucked, and that's putting it in the nicest way possible. once you have gotten on her bad side changing her opinion about you is quite a task and she likely won't budge unless given a reason she deems valid.

      when not around others lilith tends to be quite stoic, showing little to no emotion and maintaining a straight face, most, if not all the time unless she's trying to keep up appearances. she's the type that doesn't charge unless provoked but believes that expressing emotion is a sign of weakness and heavily lacks empathy. she's a strong girl, sarcastic and quite rude. despite the front she puts up, her true personality sometimes sneaks out and can come as a surprise to most. being in a toxic household for so long definitely played a part and she picked up on how her parents acted towards her and her siblings. as a child she had a lot of trouble holding her tongue, often talking back to her parents and others which resulted in severe punishments.

      even though she's armed with a polite and kind exterior, after a while, and if she trusts you enough her act might falter. unless you're someone she has come to trust, she probably doesn't care about you. the only way to really get to know her would be to knock down the barriers that she has put up to keep people at a distance, the barriers that keep others from finding out about the sinister, toxic traits she harbors.
      interestingly enough, a part of her genuinely wants to learn to be empathetic, or at least try to be. by that, lilith means she genuinely wants to feel empathy, not just fake it. she would never admit that to anyone, though, and will continue to act like she has no interest in bettering herself as a person.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND: • natsumi was the second youngest of six siblings. born into an incredibly powerful and wealthy family, the kinoshita's made sure to have as many kids as they could so at least one would inherit everything if the others died.
      • her parents were the founders and CEOs of a multi-billion dollar corporation. they were cruel and cold, not caring for anything except their business, and money, and making sure their children were prepared to inherit the business if anything ever happened to them.
      • natsumi's childhood was training, learning about the company, schooling, and the like- there was very little time for recreational activities or fun. she never really had the chance to be a kid.
      • at age 18, natsumi's entire family died in a mysterious accident, save for her favourite aunt, sawako, and uncle, jun. due to this unfortunate event, natsumi inherited the company and she quickly brought sawako and jun on to help run the company.
      • a year later, for reasons unknown, kinoshita natsumi became lilith knightingale and joined the union branch in japan. she still has strong connections with her aunt and uncle and cares about them dearly. she goes to great lengths to protect them. (they also help take care of all of her dogs which she is always very grateful for). her history remains unknown to anyone she doesn't choose to tell; no one knows lilith knightingale is kinoshita natsumi, and lilith is determined to keep it that way.

      DESCRIPTION:
      If you manage to catch a proper glimpse of Rinka, you'll see he's more fitting to the word "cute" rather than "handsome". He's of slightly below average height and, despite being pretty active on the field as well as scheduled training, has a pretty thin build. He has very long dark hair that flows freely in a somewhat unkept manner and greyish blue eyes, and a single beauty mark right on his left cheekbone. His clothes hide a few scars around his body, gained from Beasts' attacks.

      MISC:
      He tends to favor long sleeved shirts and track pants for casual wear, and surprisingly also gravitates towards brighter colors such as orange (his favorite) or light green.

      PERSONALITY:
      If Rinka's personality had to be described in one word, it would probably be "crestfallen". Distant, shy and somewhat taciturn, he is someone that spends most of his time by himself, avoiding social interactions by either playing games, reading books, hanging out in the wild or the occasional nap, he also tends to avoid doing things to attract the attention of others, since due to his low self-steem, he deems himself unworthy of admiration, even if hearing praise come his way gives him way more joy than he would like to admit. If you manage to break through the this thick shell, though, lies a pretty sweet and caring guy, albeit capable of being a bit too blunt at times. He cares deeply for those who he manages to connect with emotionally.

      Another side of him, however, can be seen during Beast hunts: A cold yet vicious man who is willing to recklessly jump into danger in order to mercilessly annihilate any beasts in sight. To some this come off as a shock, since Rinka has an incredibly strong love for animals, anywhere from dogs and cats to even the creepiest of crawlies, he's been obsessed with them ever since he was a small child. But in reality, this behaviour is not born from hatred, fear or resentment, In fact, hunting with a deadpan expression on his face is one of the things he's most known for. Instead it comes from an unbreakable resolve to help others, as he not only saves humans in danger, but also believes that killing a beast is akin to an act of mercy, seeing beasts as poor sick creatures that can't be cured.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
      Ever since the day he was born, Rinka's life has always been closely knit tothe Union. Being raised near the vicinity of the Tokyo Branch Headquarters, and even being the son of a long-time veteran Overseer member of Law Enforcement, as well as a human mother that used to work in the Union in the administrative department. Not only that, but the signs of Aura deficiency revealed his identity as a second variant from the very first day, causing his family to raise him with the ideal of joining the organization as well. Rinka himself, being nothing but a but a very small child, never
      thought much of it, and just went along with his parents' ideals.

      It all changed, however, the day his ability activated for the very first time. It was a warm summer afternoon, when a 6 year old Rinka accidentally ended up trapped in his father's study after playing a game of hide and seek with his older brother. He struggled against the thick and rigid oaken door, hitting it repeatedly, but even his enhanced Variant body was unable to open it. That is, until an explosion came out of his left hand. It was loud, it was bright, and it was scary. Where once stood an imposing door was now a hole, a cloud of dust, and wood chunks scattered all across the floor. Rinka just cried on the spot, terrified of his own ability, his survival instincts kicking in telling him that his life had been in grave danger.

      From that day onwards, Rinka started to develop more of a shy and distant personality, easily getting scared by things and avoiding conflict at all times, constantly taking solace in his biggest passion: Animals. Rinka would obsess over them and even own a few pets over his childhood. He had even decided that despite his parents' guidance and desires, he realized that the Union life wasn't for him, instead aiming to become a veterinary when he grew up.

      But life is full of unexpected turns, and 12 year old Rinka was no exception, as he had found himself stuck right in the middle of a wild beast rampage, a monster that had somehow found its way to the heart of the city undetected. Unable to fight back due his reluctance to use his ability ever since discovering it, the boy met true despair as he was about te get killed by the Beast. That is, if it wasn't for the fortunate intervention of the Hunters of the Pest Control division, who managed to eliminate the beast and save Rin.

      After recovering from the trauma, Rin had made up his mind once more, not only people were in danger and he had the ability to save them, but Beasts needed saving as well, they are just poor animals infected with an incurable disease that made them suffer from blind, utter rage, and the only way to save them, was to exterminate them. He would embrace his powers, and listen to the encouragement of his parents, but not as the Law Enforcement Officer his father once convinced him to become all those years back, but as a Hunter that stops beasts, like the ones that saved him that day. With the help of his father, he started to undergo rigorous training to master the use of both his body and his powers, his long-ignored talent honing him into an effective soldier.

      He joined the Union at the age of 18, quickly earning a spot on the Beast Elimination Department. Over the years he gained a reputation as a shy, distant and gloomy member, but also as a vicious and destructive force to be reckoned with among the Tokyo Branch Pest Control Division.

      In order to save both humans and beasts, Rinka has his goals set on becoming a more powerful and more refined killing machine... An Apex Predator.

      Renji is an affable young man who is rarely seen without a smile on his face. He prefers to maintain a positive attitude, believing that it's a waste of time to sit around brooding. He tries to pass that energy along to everyone he interacts with, often by engaging in some friendly teasing. A consequence of this playful attitude is that he sometimes gets under people's skin, even if he doesn't intend to.

      His easygoing personality makes it easier to build rapport with some people, but there are those who take offense to his approach. He's always composed and never wipes the smirk from his face, giving some the impression that he's mocking them. For the most part, their assumptions are incorrect, and he never means any harm. However, there are times when he'll intentionally be harsher with his seemingly innocent teasing to get a reaction out of someone if he feels that it's warranted. He loves seeing how other people react to his behavior. Even if they respond with anger or violence, it never sours his mood.

      Forever a free spirit, Renji doesn't pay too much attention to what others think of him. He does as he pleases, wanting to live life to the fullest. Because of this, it's difficult to judge how he'll act in certain situations. He'll act purely on a whim, jumping at whatever sounds fun at the time.

      His personality has given some people the impression that he's a fickle fool who can never take anything seriously, but despite how he usually acts, Renji is very dedicated to his work as a member of the Union. When the situation calls for it, he's capable of dropping his usual act and putting on his "work face". He truly wants to help others, and serving as an Overseer is one of the best ways to do so. He hates pain and watching other people suffer, so he wants to make the world a better place. It's a respectable goal, but his methods and motivations are another matter.

      Even though he does truly want to help people, his decision to join the Union was ultimately one he made to help himself. He's tied his own sense of self-worth to how useful he can be to others, and being a keeper of the peace is the only thing he believes can give him the value he's incapable of seeing in himself. That desire goes completely against his normal behavior, and the contradiction is owed to his personality being partially manufactured.

      To escape the label of "Escort killer", he aimed for a reputation that would overshadow his past. It's impossible to be useful to others if they completely reject him, so acting as he does is necessary. The person he is today is a result of his efforts to make everyone less wary around him. He's not fully aware of it, but it also acts as a shield to protect himself from the lingering effects of his upbringing.

      While he usually does a good job of keeping the more worrying parts of his personality hidden, some are still plainly visible. Even though he'd never intentionally put himself in a dangerous situation just for the heck of it, Renji shows a concerning lack of regard for his own well-being. If he's convinced himself that it's the only way to accomplish something, he'll throw himself right into the line of fire. Because of his ability, he'll laugh off any form of pain he endures, using the excuse that he'll heal soon enough. He acknowledges his self-destructive habits, but he can't bring himself to care.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
      Renji was a mistake, one that caused his mother no end of grief. When his accidental conception was first discovered, his parents had a falling-out. They were already struggling to get by, barely able to avoid the Renouncers Renji's mother needed to survive. With the likelihood of the unborn child also being a Second Variant, the added costs would make it even more difficult to stay afloat. The couple argued for months, never able to come to an agreement on how to handle the situation. When both of them reached a breaking point, Renji's father left for good, cutting himself off from everything.

      Left alone, Renji's mother struggled, unable to count on anyone else for support. Despite initially being excited at the prospect of having a child, she became resentful, slowly starting to agree with her former lover's stance. Her emotional state deteriorated along with everything else in her life, continuing up until the due date.

      After Renji was born, his mother's feelings remained the same. She still expected the worst, unprepared for how life would change. However, there was a small glimmer of hope.

      Contrary to what was expected, Renji did not carry the second variation of the Devil's Wrath. An example of a rare mutation, he was born as a First Variant. He'd be able to live a full life without having to rely on any expensive medications. It was a great relief for his mother, but her concerns weren't focused on the newborn.

      As soon as it was discovered that Renji was a First Variant, his mother stopped viewing him as a son. He wasn't even a person. He was a new chance at life for her. If the two of them formed a Contract, she'd never have to worry about the terrifying effects of her disease. That prospect overtook any and all thoughts she had, and she eagerly awaited the day the life-saving Contract would be made.

      Renji never knew any better. He wasn't aware of how a family was supposed to function, only seeing his mother as a provider. She kept him alive, and he kept her alive. It was a mutualistic relationship that lacked any sort of affection. Instead of a child, he functioned more like a sentient tool or a pet, only kept around to serve a specific purpose. In his mind, everyone else was the same. That was how the world worked.

      While he may not have received any familial love, he was still treated reasonably well. His mother did her best to keep him maintained and functioning. If he broke, that'd be the end for her. Without Renji, she'd perish like so many others.

      The low-income area they called home had an unusually high number of individuals infected with Devil's Wrath. Because the vast majority carried the second variation of the disease, almost all of them relied on Renouncers. If they couldn't afford them, they were forced to settle for Synthetics, but the inferior products only masked the effects of Desynchronization. The struggle to obtain medication and Contracts led to many conflicts, people often taking from those who managed to get their hands on either. Unfortunately, Renji and his mother would eventually be caught in one of these violent altercations.

      It was hard to keep secrets in the shady community. Everyone knew something about someone, especially when they were connected by the same struggles. That's why it was easy to notice when something was amiss, such as the changes Renji's mother displayed. A change in lifestyle, more income, and a decreasing presence in support groups led many to suspect that she'd gotten her hands on a Contract or a steady supply of Renouncers. Those who kept their eyes on her all came to the same conclusion when they took notice of the new boy who was always at her side.

      In an act of desperation, another carrier of Devil's Wrath attacked Renji and his mother in their own home. Despite being a Second Variant, his mother had a very weak ability, and it failed to protect her from the aggressor. Renji witnessed everything, unable to lift a finger.

      The strange man never did Renji any harm. Instead, he approached him with kindness, offering to take his mother's place. He wanted to form a Contract, practically begging the small child to save his life. It was terrible, but Renji accepted without question.

      Renji never had a mother. He had a provider, and now he needed a new one. He needed someone to help him survive. Anyone would do, even a murderer. That line of thinking shielded him from any potential emotional damage, and unfortunately, he'd need it for many years to come.

      Tragedy repeated itself several times. With people becoming increasingly desperate and having their backs to the wall, they came after him. However, he could only make one Contract at a time. It led to extreme violence between Second Variants, weak individuals fighting to live. In some cases, the person he was contracted to was forced to submit and willingly broke their Contract. However, in most cases, the end result was more gruesome.

      On occasion, his nameless Escorts would prevail against those who came to steal the Contract. Usually, they were able to survive because of the difference in ability, but weaker partners made up for their lack of strength by using him as a human shield. Their victories would always lead to a false sense of superiority, encouraging them to lord over others until they were inevitably defeated. The cycle was inescapable.

      Renji accepted everything easily. Like his Escorts, he was desperate to survive, and he needed someone to provide for him. He never developed a deep emotional connection with anyone, which made it easy to move from one Contract to the next. However, he was very quick to become dependent on his partners, always aiming to please. His views on affection became severely twisted, and he offered his Escorts all he had without complaint. Even if he couldn't remember their names, he knew the people who kept him alive could do no wrong.

      There came a day when one of his Escorts developed greater ambitions. Even if they weren't particularly strong, they wanted more out of life than just being able to survive. They caused chaos, wanting to feel what it was like to make others feel weak and helpless. The craving for that feeling made them want to join Ibara, a place that seemed like a perfect fit. Not knowing any better, Renji was fully prepared to join them.

      Before any of his Escort's plans could come to fruition, they were intercepted by members of the Union. Backed up by nothing but delusions of grandeur, they were quickly taken down, leaving the officers to deal with the child that was left behind. To Renji, it was no different from any of the other times he watched his partners fall, and he was fully prepared to form a Contract with one of the uniformed men and women.

      Surprisingly, there was no Contract to be made following his latest Escort's death. After he answered several questions, he was taken into Union custody. That was where he discovered a new side to life.

      Taken under the wing of a veteran member of the Union's Special Operations division, Renji was given a semblance of normalcy. He learned how to see the world through the same lens as everyone else, adapting to life as a normal person. Not all of the damage could be undone, but he made great strides, no longer resembling the human-shaped Renouncer he once was.

      While he was taught how to be a person, Renji was also being prepped to join the Union. From the moment he expressed a desire to be like the people who liberated him from his old life, his caretaker gave him everything he needed to realize that dream. While the older man showed genuine support, there was a sad acknowledgement that serving in the Union was probably the only path left for him.

      At the age of eighteen, he was finally able to join the Union as a full-fledged member. Unfortunately, the transition was not as smooth as he and his trainer hoped. Word traveled fast, and several people were aware of his background from the moment he arrived. Being referred to as a "black widow" or "bluebeard" made it difficult to find people willing to form Contracts, forcing him to operate as a Nure.

      His reputation as an "Escort killer" made work difficult, but Renji never showed any visible discomfort. He focused on doing the work he wanted to do, getting by as best he could. However, there was only so much he could do on his own, and he was eventually assigned partners by the Union.

      Regrettably, his partnerships always ended within the span of a few months. There were a multitude of reasons ranging from transfers to general discomfort, but the end result was always the same. So far, his longest lasting Contract has been with Aelestra Axel, another notorious figure who had difficulty forming a duo. Much to his surprise, she's stuck by his side for almost an entire year now.

      Aelestra is incredibly angry at the world. She was given a bad hand in life and believes that everyone around her is working against her. In order to prevent being hurt or betrayed by anyone else, she automatically pushes people away. She is blunt, insensitive, and doesn't care about anyone except herself. Her previous overseers have deemed her stubborn and impulsive, lacking the human decency to interact normally. Aelestra is mean to everyone who interacts with her and gets frustrated very quickly - which usually leads to irrational decisions on her part.

      Due to her past trauma, Aelestra no longer speaks verbally and communicates either through sign language or through the use of a phone.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:

      tldr; Aelestra's father was a shitbag who abused her and her older brother. After her mother passed away, her brother died trying to protect her from her father. She lived like a street rat until she joined the Union where she continued to be a problem child.

      Originally from Norway, the Axel family moved to Tokyo because of a job transfer in education. Aelestra had not been born yet until the family had been settled in their new life for about three years. From her birth, she was thought of as the worst thing to happen to the family — three days after the delivery, her father’s job laid him off. A week later, her mother was in a car accident, paralyzing her from the waist down. Despite the ongoing searches, her father never found another job, and over time the family started to drown in medical bills.

      Under all the stress, her father turned to drinking and gambling — insisting he would turn the last of their money around to stabilize them financially. However, countless losses and beatdowns from the unsavory crowd turned her father into a bitter man. Aelestra was around the age of four or five when her father started to take his anger out on her and her older brother, Atlas. At first, it only happened when provoked — she and Atlas were merely kids, playing around and getting into trouble. A broken vase. Not doing chores. Any little inconvenience set him off.

      The actions worsened when he could no longer afford renouncers. With the four of them being second variants, the cost added up quickly and they had no choice but to look for alternatives. With their impoverished lifestyle, the first variants in their area only offered paid contracts and it was only to the highest bidder. Pseudo-Renouncers were their cheapest option but even then the cost was a heavy burden to them.

      Rather than use the tax write-offs from his children to help his family back on their feet, her father continued to wallow in his own anger and failure. Meals lacked any substantial nutrients and any inconvenience resulted in physical abuse. On some occasions, her father would withhold the Pseudo-Renouncers, only providing them to his family on the very last day necessary to survive. His excuse was to ration what little they had left. This became a common recurrence when Aelestra and Atlas manifested their variant abilities to prevent any retaliation.

      Both Aelestra and Atlas learned quickly that they could no longer rely on their parents, resorting to stealing and other petty crimes just to make do. Their only reason for returning home was for the roof over their head and their mother.

      Aelestra was around the age of fourteen when her mother fell ill. The disease was unknown as even a simple trip to the doctor was a heavy blow. There was a short period of time when the three of them acted like a family for once to provide a somewhat comfortable life for their mother. On her deathbed, Aelestra’s mother admitted that Aelestra was her biggest regret — that their happy life was taken away from them the moment she was born. Her father felt the same way and sought to correct this out of devastation for his wife’s death.

      Her father attempted to kill her, wanting to “rid the curse that destroyed his family.” His attempts were thwarted though when Atlas intervened, resulting in her father killing her brother instead. In the heat of the moment, Aelestra escaped with only the image of her dead brother burned in her memory. For the next two years, she killed and stole to keep herself alive, fending for herself until she was old enough to join the Union.

      She didn’t want to join the Union but the memory of her brother forced her to. Atlas was always the one to protect her, promising her that when he joined the Union, he would provide a better life for the two of them while helping others in need. Aelestra didn’t care about anyone, she didn’t want to help anyone. No one helped her and her brother, so why should she? Regardless, the remnants of his goodwill pushed her forward to join at the age of sixteen.

      Despite adopting a new lifestyle, she still carried her past trauma with her, making her a difficult escort to form a contract with. Her anger and mistrust of everyone around her resulted in several contract breaks. She was put on probation for quite a while after a physical altercation with her previous overseer — which also resulted in a contract break. It wasn’t until early 2036 did they finally take her off nine-month probation and assigned her to her current partner.

      PERSONA
      PERSONALITY: Takeshi is an asshole to everyone he comes across. If he bumps into you in the street he will loudly sigh and huff. Unless he's at one of his favourite haunts in the city, he has no problem loudly complaining about imperfect service. He will say nothing if you do your job correctly, but has plenty to say if you fuck up.

      When it comes to his work as part of the Beast Extermination Division, he does take his role seriously. He would never let his feelings get in the way of doing his job properly, and it is also the only time you'll see him being selfless. He has no qualms about taking the burden of his allies' wounds, with the exception of non-severe wounds gained from actions he disapproves of ("Tough luck, walk it off.")

      One would think from his ability that he'd be better on the sidelines, but he goes all-in on every mission, always acting aggressively. He's a good fighter on and off the job, something he has been disciplined for more than once.

      Summary:
      Takeshi grew up with behavioural issues, but graduated with decent grades thanks to his parents' support.

      He joined the BED but had trouble cooperating with his peers. 6 months in, he breaks off his Contract and forms one with Keisuke Shima, who had an additional contract with Killua Janko.

      Killua died during a hunt, and Takeshi was left severely wounded and devastated. He grew closer to Keisuke and colder to everyone else in the decade that followed.

      Full:
      4 July 2007: Takeshi Ueno, his parents’ first child, was born. He would go on to receive two siblings.

      Childhood: Takeshi had a great upbringing. His parents are loving and generous despite their lack of wealth, and he was raised to be respectful to all.

      He had a great relationship with his siblings, his brothers only being 2 and 4 years younger than him. He took on the role of the responsible older brother well.

      Teen Years: Despite the positive start to life, his behavioural problems developed as he aged. Bullying incidents when he was a child affected his studies, and he was prone to snapping at teachers under the pressure of a rigorous education system.

      He didn’t fare much better with fellow students, being on the receiving and giving end of harsh bullying. Minor disputes turned to arguments, which turned to physical fights. He earned a reputation as a troublemaker quickly into high school.

      In his last couple of years in high school, he was given counselling. With that and the support of his loving family, he got through a lot of the issues burdening him. He managed to graduate with decent grades.

      23 October 2025: At 18 years old, Takeshi joined the Union - specifically the Beast Extermination Division. His motives for joining aren’t clear, but it seems he was left lost on where to go after graduation.

      During his first few months of training to become a Hunter, old problems cropped up again. He was wise enough to obey commands from superiors but had trouble cooperating with his peers. Knowing his ability, it was suggested that he join the division’s medical team, but he resisted this.

      1 February 2026: After 3 months as a trainee, he formed a Contract with Overseer Masami Hashimoto.

      May 2026: His Contract with Masami ended after approximately 3 months. He formed a new Contract with Overseer Keisuke Shima, who also had a Contract with Escort Killua Janko.

      2027: Bonds grew between Takeshi, Killua, and Keisuke despite a rocky start. They were a strong unit together.

      They fought together on one hunt against a particularly formidable beast. It may have been wiser to call for additional support, but they didn't.

      Killua suffered grave injuries at the hands of the beast, many of which Takeshi took on himself. His goal was to fight off the beast and pass on the injuries, allowing him to take the rest of Killua's wounds, but before that could happen, darkness encroached on his vision. He didn't manage another step forward...

      Killua died that day, and Takeshi spent a while recovering in hospital. He continues to bear the scars of the incident.

      Present: 10 years might've seemed like enough time to get over the incident, but Takeshi has remained cold and irritable to most of his coworkers. Maybe he's just an asshole.

      One person he's grown closer to is his Overseer, Keisuke. He is Takeshi's closest friend, and the only one with a glimpse past his rough exterior.

She came into a decently long line of Union members, and while the torch skipped her mom and went straight to her uncle, she was the next in line just as soon as he became the Captain of the Beast Extermination Division. She's only been in the Union for a few months, and has just gotten out of the 'trainee' era of her membership with a silly catboy named Tomoe that she isn't toooooo fond of. For some reason, her uncle doesn't seem too fond of her, but she doesn't really care.

      DESCRIPTION:
      A petite woman that makes up for the 5'0" ft with the personality of someone that's 6'6". Barbara is quite the recognisable figure with her red hair that blowtorches straight up into the air and the white streaks of intensified hostility that run through it. If you don't recognise her by her hair, you'll definitely do so by the freckles that dot her cheeks and by how her button nose waves high when she speaks.

      When she’s not in her drab work uniform she dabbles in the more saturated spectrum of fashion. Her go to outfit is a teal sports bra that she pairs with an orange hoodie, cropped distressed shorts and thigh high socks to go along with it.

      PERSONALITY:
      Her personality can be summed up in three Bs- Big, Bold and Barbara. Except she’s 5’0” ft and her boldness verges on arrogance and she hates being called “Barbara”. Barbs, as she prefers to be referred to, fits her nickname to a T. Her tongue is sharp and prone to lash out and the gloating grins are subject to snap sawtooth jaws shut at a moment’s notice. Take one step out of line and you might end up on the receiving end of a verbal outburst or worse- Barbs doesn’t hesitate to throw hands if she deems it justified and it goes real fast when she does.

      A softer side rears its head between the growls and grunts when she’s not busy tooting her own horn or throwing insults. One that has been dulled by years spent waiting for the return of someone that just walked out on her one day. The moments that it surfaces are short-lived and sparse and dwindling away as we speak. Sometimes flaring up and licking fervently at the tarred fuel chamber walls of a beating heart. In the end, it always dials back and in the end, she’s always left with a little less oil than before to keep it fanning. Barbs know better than to entertain those lapses of judgment, but she sometimes can’t help but fall into self-pity.

      As for the Bold part, Barbara is notoriously known for her big ego and her claim of being the nr 1 Escort. She believes herself to be superior to her fellow coworkers and seizes every opportunity to prove it. It’s almost impossible to make her budge once her mind is set.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
      Barbara grew up hearing six words on repeat:

      “That child isn’t cute at all.”

      Those words defined her stay at the orphanage, day in and day out as the child that was never picked. She would watch them pass her by without as much as a second glance and when they did look it was to say those words. Barbara wasn’t cute enough to be picked, so she tried her best to be cuter. The next time a couple came by to visit she had put ribbons in her hair. Yellow ones that she had ripped from the hem of a pair of curtains.

      The ribbons whipped frazzled in her equally untidy red mane as she sprinted through the winding corridors. Small feet thundered on and dared the wood splinters on peeling floorboards to stop them as she flew up the stairs. Four, five, six- Barbara counted the steps that she skipped in her head until feet slapped down at the top. They stomped down and then they stopped. Not because she had been impaled by any splinters and neither was it to calm her heart that was fluttering up into her throat. No, she stopped because she saw the other children of the orphanage. They had clustered like vultures outside the doors of the office, waiting for their prey to pass their last exhale. And vultures they resembled when they turned her way.

      Rows of gawking eyeballs picked her apart as she walked up to them. Four, five and six steps matched the number of breaths she managed to wring out of her tight chest. The children also drew tighter together in their circle and rubbed shoulders to make a wall. She faltered, feet and breath both inching back from her position. A hand suddenly shot out from the mass of bodies and swiped for her hair. Barbara ducked to the side, a little too late, and yelped as the hand grabbed a handful of her strands and yanked at it. Out came a yellow ribbon that was dangled in front of her.

      “I thought it was mustard stains at first! Look everyone, Barbara decided to dress up. Too bad she dressed up with the curtains!”

      A resounding cackle of laughter followed her back as she retraced her steps down the corridor. Four, five and six steps down the stairs before blue eyes couldn’t contain the downpour any longer.

      Barbara started to hate mustard ever since that day, but she didn’t stop trying to be cute. That stopped the day when she heard the next phrase she would come to hate:

      “She’s too old”.

      The couples and adults that came to adopt didn’t want an 8-year-old, red-headed and freckled mess that couldn’t even spell or read her own name. They wanted a toddler, one that wasn’t aware of their baggage and wasn’t starting to show it like Barbara was. The constant rejection had begun to take its toll on Barbara who was quickly growing disillusioned with her life at the orphanage. She started to act out, and violently at that. At the same time, the hours that she spent in the time-out room only grew. It got to the point that she practically lived there in at the age of 12, shut off from the world and from any potential families that could’ve fostered her.

      Then a woman from the Union came by one day. “Show me the worst one of your delinquents” she demanded. And showed her they did. The staff led her straight to the time-out room and Barbara who waited on the other side. Knees and knuckles skinned red evenly as if she had just learnt to crawl.

      The woman offered to adopt her and Barbara had no reason to refuse. Rather, the orphanage wouldn’t have allowed her to refuse with how much they were smiling from ear to ear, finally rid of their biggest menace. The woman did them a service just as much as they did her a service. They had provided her with someone she could mould to her liking without a guilty conscience.

      Her new caretaker, who she came to know as Cantrelle Babbage, moved with Barbara to Japan the next day and started to prepare her for enrolling her under her wings in the Union.

      Cantrelle went awol a while back but Barbara did succeed her as her fledgling and has assumed her position within the Union. Her hot temper and provocative attitude has made it hard to match her with Overseers, however, and she always manages to make them quit within a month of working together.

      PERSONALITY: Tomoe is an annoying brat. He likes to cause minor inconveniences on purpose, be it stealing a small item and misplacing it, or pushing something off a table; just like a cat. Any attempt at reprimand, he responds by sticking his tongue out. But, immature as he may be, Tomoe is never mischievous when it matters. Beneath his playful exterior is someone who will throw themselves at people they like for the sake of protecting them. This shift in attitude is even more apparent on the line of duty.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Suzuki, Oda is an esteemed Law Enforcement agent, renowned for his heroism and popularity with the general populace. He stood valiantly against terrorists and threats alike, saving countless civilians in the process. Oda is the closest thing to an ideal officer out there. He retired to live peacefully with his family.

      Tomoe is his son... and his very existence puts the phrase "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" to shame.

      Oda and his wife were very liberal in raising their son. Though they set a righteous path for him and directed his way to the Union, Tomoe garnered a troublemaking personality for himself. He'd find delight in the smallest of annoyances, whether it be pushing objects off of tables or ruining a perfectly fine roll of toilet paper.

      Somehow, Tomoe made it. Some think Oda's doting nature had a hand to play, but instructors would say otherwise; that Tomoe rose to the occasion and passed each test with flying colors. That attitude didn't show in the leeway that came after. Much to a certain Captain's displeasure, he wound up becoming a large presence of the Union Headquarters.

      Sure, he did his job remarkably well, but he hung around the offices like an actual cat would. And for Keisuke, this was the last thing he needed. Fortunately, an idea lit up in his head. Wanting to stop Tomoe's path of destruction and prevent the loss of brave cups and papers, he assigned Tomoe to partner with his niece—the other unwanted presence.

      Murasaki grew up burakumin, (Japanese: “hamlet people,”) also called Eta (“pollution abundant”), outcaste, or “untouchable,” Japanese minority, occupying the lowest level of the traditional Japanese social system. Growing up, Murasaki experienced extreme poverty, discrimination, and oppression.

      She was raised in a community that felt ignored and marginalized by the government. Despite her talents and intelligence, Murasaki could not achieve her dreams due to systemic barriers.

      Murasaki felt angry and frustrated with the world, and her feelings intensified when she witnessed the devastating effects of political conflict and violence on her community from a young age. Her father was a respected community leader who spoke out against the government's oppressive policies, and he was eventually arrested and killed in custody. This traumatic event left a lasting impression on Murasaki and fueled her passion for social justice and activism.


      2013​

      After Murasaki's father was killed, her mother struggled to provide for them and her siblings. Eventually, she could not care for them and placed them in an orphanage.

      Murasaki and her siblings had no difficulty adjusting to their new surroundings at the orphanage. She was surrounded by children who had also suffered from the effects of war and political conflict. The living conditions were often abusive, neglectful, cramped, and unsanitary, which they were already accustomed to. However, she struggled to make friends and often felt isolated and alone.

      2015​

      Despite her challenges at the orphanage, Murasaki’s resilience and determination caught the attention of a prestigious family in the area. The Shinobu family had long been involved in social justice causes, was known for her philanthropic work, and adopted Murasaki. Little did she know how deeply she would become involved with Ibara.

      Murasaki's life took a sharp turn from poverty and destitution when she entered a beautiful, pristine, and spacious house complete with a traditional garden and a tea room. It was a drastic change from the squalor and cockroaches she had grown up with. The sense of refinement and elegance she encountered was a far cry from the harsh realities of her previous life.

      This was the start of a new life for Murasaki, one that was full of beauty, grace, and promise.

      Murasaki sat at the table, staring at the spread of food before her. She was overwhelmed by the array of different dishes, many of which she had never seen before. Her new family was looking at her, waiting for her to start eating. She felt their eyes on her, making her nervous and unsure of what to do. Was she doing something wrong? Were they judging her?

      Murasaki didn't want to mess up and ruin her chance at a new life. She was fragile and unsure of her worth but knew she had to try to fit in. So she followed the other kids' actions and tentatively picked at her plate, trying to mimic their choices. As she ate, she wondered if they trusted her, and if she should trust them. She knew she had to be perfect to be accepted by her new family. She had a fresh start and didn't want to mess it up. If she could be as perfect as their other children, maybe they would be nice to her.

      Murasaki took to it enthusiastically, and her talents soon became evident to her adoptive family.

      They were rather militant in their lifestyle, as well. Rules and regulations were the new norm. Both retired military officials, her adoptive parents instilled a sense of discipline and structure in her life. There were strict bedtimes, rigorous study schedules, and limited social activities. She was expected to excel in academics and extracurricular activities, with no room for anything else.

      At first, Murasaki struggled to adjust to this new way of life. She was overwhelmed by the strict expectations placed on her, and the rigid adherence to tradition felt stifling. However, as time passed, she began to appreciate the beauty and elegance of the traditional, conservative lifestyle. She found solace in the peacefulness of the tea ceremony and the precision and grace required to master calligraphy.

      The Shinobu Family provided Murasaki with educational and cultural opportunities she would not have had otherwise. She attended Nada High School, a prestigious private academy for the gifted ranked number one amongst private high schools in Japan. Murasaki’s adoptive parents pushed her to achieve high grades and compete in various competitions, especially Kendo. She was not allowed to have any friends or go out on dates. She had to follow a strict dress code and had no say in her appearance or personal style.

      Murasaki's adoptive family had a keen eye for her abilities long before she even realized them herself. Initially, it was easy to attribute her exceptional performance in school to being a prodigy, but her family knew better. They were convinced that she had been blessed with a 1st variant ability, and they were determined to help her develop it to its fullest potential.

      Murasaki's gift was her remarkable memory recall. She could effortlessly remember every detail of anything she read or heard, and she could learn something new by simply reading or listening to it once. Her academic abilities were exceptional, and she quickly excelled in every subject she studied. Despite her remarkable abilities, Murasaki did not feel special. She was simply doing what came naturally to her, and did not understand why others were so impressed.

      As her family and others began to take notice of her talents, they made plans for her future without giving her much of a say in the matter. This left Murasaki feeling shy and insecure about all the praise and attention she received. As a result, she grew quiet and withdrawn, often being remarked upon for her maturity and introspection at such a young age. The pressure of others' expectations weighed heavily on her, and she longed for the freedom to choose her own path.

      2018​

      Murasaki's family seemed to have a specific plan for her, which involved training her in martial arts, katana, and naginata arts. Initially, it seemed like a harmless activity, but with her exceptional abilities, she quickly mastered the techniques. Her skills surpassed those of people four times her age, and she started defeating opponents easily.

      While her family was proud of her achievements, Murasaki felt conflicted. She enjoyed the challenge of martial arts, but the constant pressure to excel and live up to her family's expectations took its toll on her mental health. She began to feel like her abilities were a curse and that her family was using them to control her life.

      The Shinobu family became relentless in their training. They pushed her harder than anyone else, forcing her to enter Kendo tournaments and Naginatajutsu competitions. Murasaki's abilities were impressive, and she easily picked up the skills, but the pressure was overwhelming. Every day, she woke up early to begin her training, which continued until late at night. There was no room for error, no excuses for mistakes.

      Her parents convinced Murasaki that she would be targeted by criminals who want her capabilities for profit and thus needed to live an isolated lifestyle for her protection. Her only social interaction was with immediate members of the Shinobu family, and her adoptive siblings, whom she helped to raise, and loved dearly. Murasaki always felt she had to be perfect to please her adoptive parents, or she would be sent back to the orphanage. Murasaki became a chronic perfectionist with anxiety, striving for excellence and never settling for anything less.

      2020​

      After years of noticing her exceptional abilities, the Shinobu family took her to doctors to study her brain. Their research discovered that her ability could be broken down and categorized as Temporal Neuroelectrical Hypercognition. Essentially, by enhancing the electrical activity in her temporal lobe, Murasaki can improve her memory and recall ability and regulate and control her emotions.

      This ability was something that Murasaki had always taken for granted, but now she realized how truly unique it was. With this newfound knowledge, Murasaki began to understand how to use her abilities to control her emotions better and push down any negative thoughts or feelings.

      With this ability, Murasaki realized she could suppress all her inner turmoil, including conflict, guilt, insecurity, and resentment. This made her the perfect puppet for her family's desires. She used her abilities to put on a facade of a well-adjusted and happy child, but inside, she struggled to find her voice and independence.

      The Shinobu's were extremely disappointed if Murasaki ever got less-than-perfect grades or test scores. They would hand out punishments or take away tiny privileges like access to the garden or talking to her siblings. It was as if nothing she did was ever good enough. Murasaki tried her best to please them, but the pressure was crushing. She felt like she was constantly walking on eggshells, afraid to make even the slightest mistake.

      Murasaki's prodigious abilities quickly garnered international acclaim, allowing her to graduate from high school three years ahead of schedule. However, she couldn't help but feel her kind and benevolent parents were exploiting her talents to boost their fame and prestige. They relentlessly scheduled interviews with prestigious colleges and magazines and drilled her with scripts on how to say the right things to make the Shinobu family look good. Despite putting on a perfected smile, Murasaki felt hollow inside, playing along with her parents' scheme.

      The family name and reputation were all they cared about.

      Her parents were pleased, but Murasaki was left with a void. She had no idea who she was but had no choice but to keep following her parent's plans and go to their chosen university. Murasaki began to feel like a machine programmed to do nothing but fight and win and succeed. She longed for a life outside of the dojo, a chance to be something more than just a weapon for the Shinobu family's reputation. But she knew that as long as she lived under their roof, she was trapped in this endless training and competition cycle.

      2021​

      Murasaki's anxiety worsened as she struggled to keep up with the rigorous academic demands of college. She needed to break free from the control and find her path in life, but she didn't know where to start.

      During her college years, Murasaki experienced a traumatic event when she was assaulted and later became a target for speaking out against the perpetrator. The college attempted to cover it up, causing immense pressure and stress on Murasaki. The weight of keeping her emotions bottled up for the sake of others proved too much, and she eventually suffered a mental breakdown.

      In a fit of rage, she lashed out and severely injured the perpetrator, leading to her own hospitalization for recovery. During this time, an unconventional Doctor approached her, offering her a way to break free from her controlling family. Fragile and desperate for an escape, Murasaki agreed to the Doctor's proposal.

      Murasaki realized there was more to life than blind loyalty to the Shinobu family. Suffering from chronic depression and anxiety, and the Doctor suggested a change. Re-evaluating her priorities and values, she eventually decided to cut the family off. Murasaki needed to find a new path.

      Remembering how much she enjoyed writing and drawing as a child, she revisited these passions, wrote stories, and created art, pouring her heart and soul into her work, using it to express herself and explore her innermost thoughts and feelings. Her art and writing were raw and emotional, and she soon found that they resonated with others.

      Murasaki spent hours studying paintings in books and online, analyzing brush strokes, color palettes, and the overall composition. With her exceptional memory, she could recall each painting in great detail, down to the tiniest brushstroke. Soon, she began to recreate these famous works of art with remarkable accuracy.

      Murasaki received requests for commissioned paintings and inquiries from publishers about her stories, finding her calling as an artist and writer, and she was overjoyed. Her anxiety and perfectionism faded as she continued to create, and she no longer needed to control every aspect of her life; instead, she found joy in the freedom of expression. Her art and writing gave her a sense of purpose and meaning she had never experienced before.

      After years of being separated from her blood siblings, Murasaki finally found a way to reconnect with them. The reunion was a deeply emotional experience for Murasaki, who felt like a piece of her had been missing for so long. Despite her adoptive family's objections, she continued building a relationship with her siblings, which brought her a sense of peace and belonging that she had been missing for so long.

      During this time, Murasaki also discovered that her birth mother was sick and living in the slums. Despite her own struggles and challenges, Murasaki felt compelled to help her mother. She used her college funds and money from her teen magazine interviews and photoshoots to buy a house for her family and took care of her mother. It was a difficult journey for both of them, but Murasaki was determined to be there for her mother in a way she had never been able to before.

      Through all the trauma and pain, Murasaki found solace in her love and connection with her blood relatives.

      2024​

      The Doctor encouraged Murasaki to pursue her passion for activism and social justice and provided her with the resources and support she needed to make a real difference. However, she became disillusioned with the government's lack of response to the community's needs. She saw the corruption and inefficiency of the government firsthand and began to lose faith in the idea of a democratic government.

      It was as if a floodgate had been opened, unleashing a torrent of memories and feelings that she had buried deep within herself. Seeing the injustice before her, it was impossible not to think of her late father, who had also fought for what was right, only to be killed for it. The pain of his loss, which she had tried so hard to suppress, resurfaced, along with a sense of helplessness and self-doubt. Could she really make a difference in a world that seemed so corrupt and unjust?

      In her search for justice, Murasaki was approached by members of a terrorist organization—Ibara—who shared her anger and frustration. Murasaki was excited to see what this meeting was all about. The building was nondescript and unmarked. Inside, there were people of all ages and backgrounds. They talked about justice, equality, and making the world better. Murasaki was intrigued and listened carefully to their speeches.

      They asked her what she thought, what she wanted for the future. Murasaki had never been asked about her own dreams and desires. It was exhilarating to have someone actually listen to her. Slowly, the charismatic leaders of Ibara began to use cult tactics to draw her in deeper. They promised her power, importance, and a sense of belonging. Murasaki started to feel like she had finally found her place in the world. Little did she know that she was being manipulated and groomed to become a member of a terrorist organization.

      At first, Murasaki hesitated to join Ibara, knowing that terrorism was a dangerous and illegal activity. However, as she became more involved with Ibara, she saw its impact on the world. She felt like she was finally making a difference and being part of a community that cared about her.

      Ibara started to involve Murasaki in their extreme activities by encouraging her to fund their missions, recruit new members, and participate in anti-Union demonstrations. Murasaki was initially unaware that she was being manipulated again. Being brought up in a strict family that pushed her to be perfect and obedient, Murasaki was already used to sacrificing her own personal freedoms for the sake of others. So, she didn't realize that Ibara was also controlling her in a different way.

      It wasn't until many years later that Murasaki could understand that she was being used as a tool for Ibara's agenda, just another puppet under their control.

      Ibara encouraged her to balance out her skills by training with other members of the organization. She began to learn mixed martial arts, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and wrestling, to develop a well-rounded skill set so she could become a more formidable agent to their cause. Murasaki's dedication and discipline to her training paid off. She became physically stronger and more confident in her abilities.

      2026​

      Murasaki was already a trusted member of Ibara when she learned of her secret weapon, the Hellspawn. One day, she overheard a conversation between two high-ranking members discussing the weapon and its potential for widespread destruction. However, Murasaki's discovery came at a cost. One of her contacts within the organization had grown suspicious of her activities and reported them to the leadership. The leaders, unsure if Murasaki could be trusted, decided to put them to the test.

      They arranged a competition between Murasaki and several other Ibara members, each vying for the chance to lead the mission to wield the Hellspawn. The competition involved a series of challenges that tested the participants' strategy, combat, and critical thinking skills.
      Murasaki knew this was her chance to prove her loyalty and worth to Ibara.

      Despite facing tough challenges and fierce competition, Murasaki emerged victorious. her dedication, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment to the cause earned her the leaders' respect and trust. With her confidence restored, Murasaki was given the crucial role of Hellspawn Wielder. She knew that the stakes were high and that failure was not an option.

      Over time, Murasaki became more radicalized and justified violent acts necessary for her cause. She saw herself as a freedom fighter, fighting against a corrupt system that had failed them and her community. While she still struggled with the morality of her actions, she believed she was doing what was necessary to bring about change.

      2031​

      The Union captured Murasaki after leading a mission for Ibara that involved an assassination attempt.

      Murasaki was taken into custody and brought to a rehabilitation center for cult victims. She was in a state of shock, unable to process what had happened to her. The people she had trusted and believed in had turned out to be extremists and criminals. Murasaki was assigned to a therapist who specialized in anti-cult counseling. The therapy sessions were intense and lasted for hours each day, working to break down the psychological barriers the extremist group had built up in Murasaki's mind. They had used cult tactics to manipulate her and twist her beliefs, so the therapist had to slowly help her untangle the web of lies that had been woven around her.

      Murasaki was not allowed to leave the rehabilitation center for the first few months. Doctors and nurses kept her under close watch and monitored her mental state and physical health. She was given medication to help stabilize her mood, as her abilities were being suppressed, so she could not regulate her own emotions; she was prone to sudden outbursts of anger and bouts of depression.

      The rehabilitation process was grueling and exhausting, both physically and mentally. Murasaki had to face the reality of what she had done and the harm she had caused others. She had to confront the fact that the people she had trusted had betrayed her trust and used her for their own purposes. Over the course of a full year, Murasaki slowly started to recover. The therapy sessions helped her see things more clearly and regain a sense of her identity. She was no longer under the extremist group's influence and could see the harm they had caused.

      After completing the program, she worked with the government to counter violent extremism and prevent others from falling into the same trap of extremist thinking. Murasaki's recruitment into the Union was a chance for her to start anew and rebuild her life after her traumatic experience with Ibara. However, as she began training, she found herself struggling with the remnants of the cult brainwashing that had been drilled into her.

      During one training session, Murasaki suddenly attacked her fellow trainees, her movements vicious and erratic. The Union trainers immediately intervened, carefully restraining her and taking her to a secure location for evaluation. Murasaki's behavior was deemed a relapse into her Ibara brainwashing, and the Union trainers recognized that she needed help to overcome it. They immediately provided her support, working to reprogram her mind and undo the harmful beliefs that had been ingrained in her.

      2036​

      Murasaki persevered, emerging stronger and more resilient than ever before, ready to take on whatever challenges the Union had in store for her. She had to earn the Union's trust to be given the chance to wield the Hellspawn again, working tirelessly to prove themselves and demonstrate her commitment to the cause of peace and reconciliation. Eventually, her dedication paid off, and she was granted the opportunity to use her skills and experience to help prevent others from falling into the same trap of extremist thinking. Whether she could wield the Hellspawn again remained to be seen.

      Ibara put a steep price on Murasaki's head for being a traitor and for giving up a valuable and powerful Hellspawn to the Union, which she had been entrusted with.

      The smartest dumbass you will ever know. Hikari is the kind of person that could get DOOM running on a Lego set and then get sad because she can’t beat it, or have top marks all year but come second in the class because she kept forgetting to write her name on her tests. Distractible and ditzy, brilliant as the sun and twice as unfocused.

      Every aspect of her personality is cranked to 11. She’s the classic upbeat and energetic type, the kind of person who actually willingly starts and maintains conversations with other people. Hikari can and will do the extrovert thing where they run at someone and adopt them as a friend (see: Akiyama Rinka.) She enjoys helping others, and will try and do as much as she can if someone asks. Sometimes she'll try even if they don't ask.

      There might be some selfishness there.

      Her confidence in herself and her creations borders arrogance, but it's difficult to actually insult her all that much or get her angry. Or to keep her in that state of anger for long.

      Normally, adrenaline makes people excited, thrilled, jittery. Hikari goes in the opposite direction. She focuses, calms down. The liveliness is still there, just muted. Somehow, she gets even more self assured. And there's a desire to fight. To slay every last beast that dares to exist. Killing these things means she's protecting other people. That's good. Although he cares so little for his body or well-being in general, he still somehow maintains a broad, muscular figure (he chalks it up to genetics, a childish lie). Possibly the most noticeable thing on Limo's person is the enormous cross he bears on his back.

      PERSONALITY:
      Lazy, flirty, carefree, and reeking of cheap liquor and cigarettes, Limo is the last person most would want to see when they are being told that their new mentor is standing right in front of them. The man is almost always intoxicated or tipsy, and it shows in his behavior. Lighthearted and playful, he makes jokes out of most things— including ones at his own expense, and he can even be considered childish depending on his mood. Depending on the person, Limo can either be seen as a gregarious and nonchalant man with a few screws loose — or an exceptionally slothful and irritating lush who doesn't belong in this field of work.

      Despite his flaws, Limo gets extremely serious when comrades are at risk. The only thing that exceeds his drunkard tendencies is his selflessness, as he is willing to sacrifice anything and everything to protect others— including his own life. This protective spirit manifests strongly when it comes to those he is mentoring, who he often accidentally refers to as his 'kids'.

      (Limo doesn't have a set escort, but will always lend his Aura to somebody in need. He focuses more on mentoring and teaching rather than finding a partner, and because of this, he has been classified as a Nure.)

      A former Catholic deacon, Limo Ōtsuka was a member of a convent for people afflicted with Devil's Wrath. Together with various nuns, priests and orphaned students, Limo lived in a blessed space where followers of God could spread the good word without being chastised or ridiculed by those who were not infected.

      Known as one of the most lenient adults in the sanctuary, Limo, who had always had a love for children, vigilantly watched over his herd of holy students— mentoring and teaching them while also acting as a 'cool' older-brother figure that the children could trust and look up to. It was easy for him to tell them that he loved them with all of his heart, because he truly did. The man took pride in showing the students of the holy space that the lord loved them just as he loved everybody else— despite their differences.

      Years ago, when Limo was 24, he left the convent to buy food from a local market, only to return to see that his home had been destroyed— reduced to ashes by flames and void of life. Not a single survivor resurfaced, and the criminals behind the slaughter were never found. The only thing left was the enormous ivory-white cross that often stood mounted against the wall in the chapel, gripped tightly within the charred arms of the Head Bishop of the convent.

      He had lost everything.

      With his purpose in life ripped from his hands, Limo succumbed to the clutches of one of Satan's greatest weapons— alcohol. He drank away all purity within him, and became the pathetic shell of a clergyman that he is today. At some point, with nothing left to lose, he joined the Union in hopes of enacting revenge on whoever— or whatever who took his life away from him.

      Kenjiro Takamura was born as the youngest of two boys in the Takamura family. His mother was a nurse, and his father was a Specialist in The Union. Growing up, Kenjiro lived a fairly normal life, with some excitement mixed in here and there. His father, being a strong advocate for physical education and self-defense training, raised his two sons like a coach would with his pupils. Because of this, Kenjiro has been training in various martial arts since he was a young boy.

      Luckily, his variant ability manifested into one that would further boost his skillset as a fighter— and while his older brother eventually branched off to pursue a career as a doctor as they grew older, Kenjiro had his eyes set on his own goals: Becoming a combative genius, and eventually following in his father’s footsteps by joining the Union.

      In hopes of branching out and broadening his skill range on his own, Kenjiro began participating in multiple martial arts dojos and gyms, swiftly and humbly rising in rank no matter what he touched thanks to his ability-- all while not participating in tournaments to keep things fair. However, this endeavor of his was briefly put to a halt when he received some devastating news after visiting home one day.

      His father, the champion who molded him into the man he was, subjected to a brutal and inhumane death by the hands of a member of a dangerous terrorist organization known as Ibara.

      Blinded by a thirst for revenge, Kenjiro immediately enlisted in The Union’s Beast Extermination Division. Now, he diligently works for The Union in his father's honor-- all while silently sharpening his blade in preparation for the day he may get the chance to cut down the person who destroyed his family.

      Description
      With hair bleached to a silvery white and a multitude of different coloured contacts on any given day, anyone would think one of these features would catch the eye first, but not when it comes to Chouko. Trendsetting, eccentric, just plain bizarre — those terms and almost every other descriptive adjective you can think of can be used to describe her wardrobe. What she wears one day cannot be used to guesstimate what she’ll wear the next.

      Personality
      Open-minded and generous, even to those who have wronged her, she appears to be a wholly mentally sound and pleasant person to get along with at first. Later, one might find that while their early impressions weren’t exactly wrong, some of her actions might have them questioning her state of mind at the time of doing. She’s willing to put in the work of getting to know someone and treating them as they wish to be treated, but her pursuit of beauty can lead to extreme acts that contradict her previous measures — though she generally knows where the limits lie.

      With a habit of dropping sentences that would fit right at home in a book on philosophical musings on the nature of aesthetics and rarely using colloquial language unless it’s to make a point, Chouko often ends up sounding like a pretentious motherfucker highbrow art connoisseur — which to her dismay has caused its fair share of issues when investigating the streets. She usually means well, even if her speech can sometimes come across like she’s looking down on everyone who can’t pronounce the words “haute couture”.

      Her relationship learning curve comes with diminishing returns, though. While it is exceedingly easy to make friends with Chouko, it is nearly impossible to become close. She can discuss any topic with anyone without blinking an eye, but she will rarely ever declare her own opinion on the matter. One may notice that she uses “common opinion follows” or “I hear many believe” in place of her own thoughts and has a tendency of taking stances only when others ask her to. She has never invited a person over to her living space, and she has no plans ever to — to her, it is a place for herself and only herself, that she can fill with beautiful things that no one else needs to see.

      Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there lived a princess heiress of a large conglomerate.

      “Woe is me,” she said one day, stepping on her political rival with her 5-inch stilettos, “I have had to scheme against my family and business competitors all my life. I tire of this existence.”

      Kicking the body to the nearest bodyguard, she caught a glimpse of a painting of an idyllic farmer on her gold-leaf walls. Her mind whirred with possibility. “Yes, no longer will I be heir apparent to father dearest, instead … I will be a farmer!”

      And so, grabbing her childhood friend and inconstant lover who had much to say about being forced into a marriage of farming convenience, she went off to the countryside with a hoe in hand, dreaming of a picturesque pastoral farmstead of only a couple hundred kilometers.

      As years passed, the two’s attitudes switched around, and it was clear that the farming life didn’t fit the heiress’ disposition at all. She missed drugging champagne and framing her cousins for it, strategizing elaborate plans to cause her siblings’ downfall, ruining other corporation’s market share by creating fake reviews of their products and weaving through the intricately laid traps of her fellows, only to reverse it on them. Indeed, so much she missed it that acting upon her impulses once again, she slapped down a divorce letter, grabbed her child and yeeted from her country to wreak havoc start anew in another.

      You might be asking, was the heiress Chouko? No, not at all. Anyway.

      Instead of following the economy pricing strategy familiar to her retailer background, she decided to make a break for the premium market, choosing high fashion as her poison of choice. So of course, her child, growing up surrounded by designs that were as much a product of the designer’s love as they were a shock marketing tactic, ended up with a fairly unique definition of what beauty was.

      This, coupled with her free-spirited and enterprising mother, meant that she never had any feelings of inadequacy or not fitting in — the core of her personal philosophy required her to be a distinctive individual, and distinct she was. Confident enough to be attractive and kind enough to make others stay, she didn’t lose out on friends through her school years. Her childhood built up a mindset of being able to do anything so long as she set her mind to it, and what she wanted to do was to see beautiful things.

      Choosing to major in fashion design, she reasoned that if her ideas didn't yet exist in reality, she could create them instead of waiting for the perfect happenstance. After four years of hard work and too much harsh criticism to count from those in the industry, she realized she still sucked at designing clothing and didn’t have the patience to continue at it. Leaving fashion to those who knew it best, she turned her sights on things that required less visual skill.

      There was a beauty in becoming an agent of societal justice, and so, that’s what she decided to attempt. (There was also a beauty in becoming an agent of a conventionally deplorable ideal, but she realized it would be quite difficult to join Ibara then switch to the Union, rather than joining the Union then switching to Ibara. There was also an argument to be made that the Union was more socially acceptable and therefore would make life easier on her than being part of a terrorist organization. Beauty was her purpose in life, but she still had to live to pursue it.)

      Fortunately for her, she was nowhere near as bad at combat and deducing clues as she was designing couture, and she soon passed training to be a detective in the Law Enforcement division. She had assumed that her abilities would aid her in investigative work rather than the more extermination- or combat-focused divisions, and her self-appraisal didn’t fail her.

      A multitude of ear piercings and a vicious gaze that burns a bright red makes it difficult to tell whether Sanada Guren is truly an officer in training or a thug looking for trouble. His muscular build and tendency to smile as if he’s plotting a murder does him no favors in that regard, and he’s no stranger to accidentally making children cry. In a poor attempt to counter his rougher features, his wardrobe primarily consists of clothes that are comfortable and lowkey. He isn’t particularly fashion conscious and only seems to care about keeping his closet free of ostentatious colors and stocked with more neutrals. Perhaps doing something about the mess of scarlet locks atop his head would aid in his efforts, but it isn’t clear why he grew it out so long that he ties part of it in a loop to prevent himself from accidentally sitting on his hair. Surprisingly, a closer look reveals that it’s devoid of split ends.

      “Why do people park in driveways but drive on parkways?”
      Sanada Guren is known as one of two things: the guy with the weird laugh or the Ibara apologist. The latter reputation is exaggerated, as he is simply someone who agrees with many of their ideals rather than pardoning their actions, but his openness in expressing such controversial opinions marks him as a problematic trainee. Few hold onto their misgivings towards him though, partly due to his history and mostly due to his personality. While Guren’s hair is bright, the same can’t be said for his brain. It doesn’t take much to figure out that there’s nothing but air in that noggin of his, and the man himself admits as much. Given his hyperactive squirrel brain’s tendency to wander from math problems to questioning why Howdy Tabby has no mouth, it’s a wonder as to how he managed to pass his general education requirements. Fortunately, his street smarts fare much better but only in terms of avoiding the oldest tricks in the book and the most common of scams. As much as he dislikes liars, he isn’t particularly adept at reading between the lines and is practically blind to suspicious body language. It doesn’t help that he tends to abide by the rule of innocent until proven guilty regardless of how suspicious a person might seem.

      If his overly honest nature and controversial viewpoints don’t leave an impression, then his quaint speaking style is sure to. He speaks formally even in situations where it is awkward to do so, and he refers to himself using “jibun” rather than a more standard pronoun. His most notable verbal quirk is his tendency to end his sentences with “de wa arimasu” among a handful of other improper honorific forms and copulas. In short, his speech pattern is more befitting of a foreigner with a poor understanding of japanese grammar despite never having stepped a foot out of his home country. He’s commonly questioned if he was raised overseas, but he provides little more than a vague explanation that it’s a childhood habit that never got corrected without specifying the details.

      So long as the other party isn’t a grammar Nazi, Guren is a fairly easy person to get along with. He’s as laid-back as they come and is quick to shrug off any offenses against him. A bit too laid-back, if his coworkers have anything to say about him being caught yawning at official assemblies, but at least he won’t judge you for doing the same. Though irresponsible in his lack of care for rules, he doesn’t actually go out of his way to break them and is driven enough to complete the tasks given to him to the best of his abilities. Still, he finds those who put laws and rules above morals and personal opinions to be frustrating, even more so if said person never seems to speak their mind. Though he’s generally friendly and slow to anger, he gets easily irritated when people are unnecessarily verbose or refuse to address the elephant in the room.

      DESCRIPTION: Aside from her more notable 'inhuman' features, Roseya maintains a physically fit body, with a balance between strength and endurance. Her skintone is relatively light, but not pale. That's where the similarities with most end. With pointed ears and a tail, Roseya exhibits the features of a wolf due to her Second Variant. Her eyes are a yellowish amber with red pupils, that have a distinct glow when in the dark. Her hair is a warm black with red highlights mixed in with it. Her teeth, when visible, are a hybrid between human and animal teeth, with the base of the teeth mostly normal while the ends are pointed like fangs.

      PERSONA
      PERSONALITY: The seemingly laid-back and quiet exterior hides a person with unwavering loyalty and commitment. Roseya is extremely observant and constantly thinking. Her attention to detail is second to few. She has a direct leadership style and takes a logical approach to most things in life, allowing Roseya to keep everything in her ability under control, and her persistence knows no bounds. She's no stranger to multitasking and can quickly work through any problems that try to slow her down. Unfortunately, this has hindered Roseya's social skills. Her conversations are usually short and to the point without any deviation, her tone of voice usually apathetic and her face void of any noticeable expression. More often than not she expresses her emotions through words and actions, but a handful of people have seen Roseya crack a smile every now and then.

      HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
      To society, she was a freak. Her parents were expecting a Variant. But not like this.Cast aside, the girl moved from orphanage to orphanage, foster home to foster home. Nothing was constant in her life. Everything kept changing. She learned to rely only on herself, her thoughts, her instinct, her gut feeling. She also made friends. Other children that were as, or more unfortunate than her.

      One day, one of her foster parents stepped out of line. Did something they weren't supposed to do. Roseya got angry. In the blink of an eye, a large wolf was in place of her. In flash of black and red, blood dripped down from Roseya's teeth, with the body of her foster parent limp and mangled. But it didn't stop there.

      Roseya hunted down every single person that did her or the other children wrong. She didn't care whether it was what the others wanted. It was what she wanted. She wanted them to die. That included her own parents.

      Reports of a rabid wolf spread quickly, with rumors saying it was a Beast. The Union was deployed. Eventually, Roseya was cornered, captured, and taken to a Union facility. She transformed back to her original form, and it was officially determined she was a Second Variant, not a Beast.

      From there, Roseya had one constant in her life. The Union. Instead of being raised by parents, she was raised by the organization. Every day she spent training, perfecting her control over her ability as well as learning basic hand-to-hand combat, soon evolving into advanced combat with weapons Eventually, she was old enough to fully become a member of the Union, qualifying for their Special Operations branch. As her secondary, she chose Law Enforcement. From time to time, she's also been called to assist Beast Extermination.
