History (Past 50 Years)
Immediately upon the death of the late emperor, the Kingdom of Morocco joined the string of Islamic regions declaring independence. Starting in Ethiopia, moving northwards, the African Empire began to crumble. In under a year, the Empire held less than a third of what they once held. With rebellions from South Africa to Libya, the Empire was primarily hoping to survive, and for 50 years they've barely done that. With the Ethiopian call for Islamic freedom, in the face of the Empire's repression, the Moroccans and Egyptians (Now the North African Muslim Confederation) joined the call. Largely thanks to the poor decision making of the Empire in the last few years before the Emperor's death, Morocco's declaration of independence was largely met with little to no resistance by government forces, outside of a few minor clashes between militia and loyal officers stationed in the region.
In a short five years, the Kingdom of Morocco had claimed a great deal of territory, after quickly taking a large swathe of land from an Algerian warlord. The next ten years would be a period of great bloodshed for Morocco. With the Empire's forces in place, many pretenders in the Sahara were quickly disposed of. The Moroccans suffered a great deal from the initial offensive, dubbed "The Reclamation Campaign" by senior Empire officers. The Reclamation Campaign would see the Empire's presence return to everywhere from Freetown to Cape Town. In the Swahili Coast, however, the Empire was less successful. The Kenyan Union State declared it's independence early on in the war, and they gained a large amount of popular support among those who were formerly under Empire control. Often, the Kenyans were viewed as liberators by the people in the land they began to conquer. Expanding as far as modern Tanzania, the Kenyans, who previously had elected Fadhili Mwangi, a former Empire bureaucrat, faced a new election after the resignation of Mwangi, following a scandal involving his alleged acceptance of money from prominent businessmen in the Empire during his original campaign. His son, Ruhiu Mwangi stepped up, winning the next election in a landslide. A popular celebrity in Kenyan pop culture, Ruhiu was praised as the model Kenyan, largely out of his father's influence. Ruhiu would go on to expand Kenya's borders to new lengths, and forge an alliance with the Ethiopians during the 15 years that he ruled.
During these ten years, the South African Commonwealth would rise up, taking arms against the Empire. They rose up under the leadership of Adam Sisulu, a man of Xhosa descent, with distant ties to the famous Walter Sisulu of the South African anti-apartheid movement. Although many would argue that his ties to the man who had been dead for a millennia were shady, at best, the vast majority of South Africans saw him as a herald of their independence. Why the South Africans rose up was relatively unclear. The region was fairly prosperous under the Empire, and they enjoyed a relative freedom from the purges that occurred in the rest of the continent, a short few years before. With a sweeping wave of radical socialism sweeping the south, championed by Sisulu, the momentum only gained. Over the next few years, the South Africans would push as far as Angola, and northern Mozambique, coming in direct contact with the Kenyans. This would result in a series of border wars, which would leave the South African military crippled, to this day.
In the Maghreb, the Ethiopian call met many ears. Some formed kingdoms, other democracies, while others set apart and led through fear. A series of warlords rose up in Algeria. Solely men, women's rights were essentially nonexistent in the deserts. The cities weren't much different. The warlords fought over the smallest things, using anyone who they could steal from their homes as a soldier. Of course, this chaos only lasted about 10 years. With the Empire's return, the Egyptians saw a great opportunity. With their superior supplies, and a proper military, they set out to conquer the majority of North Africa. Over four years, they would move as far as Tripoli before seeing any reason to stop. With their conquest, the capped it off by offering the warlords amnesty if they surrendered their territory to the Egyptians. Miraculously, most agreed. Those who did were met with an execution room, as the Egyptians never intended to allow mass murders to walk free. The warlords who resister were quickly disposed of by the superior Egyptian military. With their conquest complete, from Cairo, the Egyptians proclaimed the North African Muslim Confederacy. Shortly after the new state's infancy, they would liberalize, becoming a rare progressive nation in Africa. Through their control of the Suez, and various ports in North Africa, the Confederacy would cease it's expansion for the next 40 years. A short 15 years after the conquest of the Maghreb, the Confederacy and the Ethiopians announced a proper military alliance, known as the African Islamist Alliance.
Now 15 years after the onset of the war, in the farms of the Sahara, two powerful spiritual leaders proclaimed two caliphates. The Sudanese Caliph and the Saharan Caliphate would call all Muslims to Jihad, to fight the empire and the African Islamist Alliance. Springing up from the far reaches of the two nations, the Caliphates would declare Sharia Law on their citizens. Drawing sharp criticism even from the most regressive regimes in Africa, the Caliphs quickly established themselves in the vast hydroponics of Africa, as a force that could not be killed. Quickly exploding in size, the two states pushed the Empire back to their current borders, although they inadvertently allowed for the creation of the Ivory League. Fighting any state they bordered, the Caliphs would reach from the Red Sea to the Atlantic, at their peak. However, that was quickly stopped by a join Moroccan-Loyalist coalition. Today, the caliphs sit on the verge of collapse, with many of their citizens fleeing northwards and south to Lagos. For the next 10 years, fighting against the Caliphs would be the only trait all African states shared, even those in South Africa, who had to handle a revolution from a secular revolt in Namibia.
Now 25 years into the civil war, the Caliphs have been pushed back. The Empire has retreated to their current borders, and the Ivory coast has entered a state similar to Algeria before the Confederacy unified it. Thankfully, their savior came from Lagos, in the form of Nigeria. Quickly proclaiming the Republic of Nigeria after Loyalist forces abandoned the region, a former general guided the fledgling state in a promising direction. General Jacob Solomon would personally oversee the creation of the United Mali Republic, a close partner of the Nigerians. However, their future was not always so bright. Relying on poorly supplied and even more shoddily trained militia, Solomon initially experienced great difficulty moving his republic outside of Lagos. He spent a year militarizing the city, and defending against Caliphate raids. Over the next four years he would push out to Sokoto, and begin establishing his state as the premier West African economic destination. Of course, in comparison to any other proper nation, Nigeria is still the last place you'd want to invest.
With the Loyalist retreat, Angola became no-man's land. In the vacuum, four warlords rose up. They would unite a short two years after the retreat to form the Angolan State, with assistance from the Kenyans. Immediately, they entered several conflicts with the South Africans over disputed borders. Eventually, with Kenyan assistance, the Angolans brokered a peace deal with the South Africans, which they would break a short year later of claims that the South Africans had performed military drills in their land. This culminated in the Second Angolan Border War, in which the Angolans and Kenyans stormed across the border, reaching Johannesburg, before the South Africans surrendered, agreeing to pay harsh reparations, and allowing the creation of several disadvantageous trade deals.
Now, in the past five years, very little has changed. However, steadily international opinion has changed in the direction of intervention, rather than letting the war play out by itself. Where will this go? Only time can tell.

Personality
A quiet and reserved man, Mohammed was not always so resigned. In his youth, Mohammed was sheltered from all issues. Born after the war began, he only knew the civil war, and as such, he hopes he may put an end to the violence the Moroccan people still see.
History
Born as the son of the great Mohammed The Liberator, Mohammed knew only the finest luxuries a Moroccan knew at the time. He was treated to a meal each day, and never heard a gunshot in his life, until he turned 14. Of course, when his father felt he was old enough, the young prince was stolen from his paradise, and thrown into the armed forces. Traditionally, the Moroccan kings, who enjoyed only higher social status before their independence, would send their children into the military, pulling strings to ensure that they would not see a day of combat. However, the prince's father wanted his son to start a new line of kings. Kings who would lead from their experiences on the battlefield, who would understand the very real issues facing Morocco. As such, he was assigned a false identity at 17, and was sent into the Royal Moroccan Army. Quickly displaying an aptitude for leadership, Mohammed served two five year tours fighting the Empire and the Caliphates. Mohammed intended to serve a third tour, however, his father passed away three weeks before his redeployment. He immediately assumed the role of acting king, and began to put into place reforms he had dreamed of since his childhood. The liberalization of Morocco began with Mohammed, and they continue to this date.

Personality:
In contrast to Mohammed's cool, Ali is the fire of the Moroccan government. Despite his humble appearance, Ali Hassan is a fearsome juggernaut of the Moroccan parliament. Known for taking as much ground on a deal as he can, even with his allies, Hassan often comes off as uncaring or cold, due to his desire to get straight to the point.
History:
Born to two Moroccan businessmen before the civil war, Ali found his motivation to join politics out of the horrors he witnessed due to the conflict. His brother and father were taken by the Caliph in a raid on their village, while he escape with his mother to Rabat. After being accepted into the Royal Moroccan Military Academy, Hassan served his mandatory year of service fighting in North Africa against the Algerian warlords. Returning as a highly decorated officer, Hassan launched his career in politics off his support as a veteran of the armed services. After spending about 15 years as a lower level member of the Morocco Now party, Hassan moved to assume leadership of the party by ousting the aging prime minister, and installing himself as the new leader. Through a series of lucky deals and outright lies, Hassan assumed the office of Prime Minister at the age of 39, which he has served at to this day.

History from the past 50 years:
After the collapse of the African Empire, the Empire splintered in separatist factions and rebellions. The government is in exile in the Rockies, with the Emperor not of age and not ready to lead his people. A military joint task force was established in the Rockies and was sent to (in our OOC history) Cameroon and Nigeria and helped establish the New African Empire with support from loyalists. However, infighting from the loyalists lead to a fragmented command and weakened army. the New African Empire asked for a leader, and they got the leader Louis d'Arc. Louis d'Arc quickly reformed the African military with help from the Rockies. Many operations and exercises were conducted to assist the New African Empire Military. The Loyal African Army started as a series of militias but was turned into a professional army.
Government Form: Military Bureaucracy
Currency: African Dollar
Current Leader: General Louis d'Arc
Allies: Current ally is the Kingdom of the Rockies.
Military: (ill update equipment once the Rockies update their equipment)
The Loyal African Army is compromised of a typical three branch armed force: Army, Air Force, and Navy. The Loyal African Navy is quite reliant on the Rockies, the Air Force and the Army is heavily dependent on themselves. All loyalist troops are trained to a high standard. The Loyal African Army uses a variety of tactics depending on the location of the battle. The high command is very well built along with the supply of these armies. The Air Force emphasizes on aerial support and aerial superiority.

Personality: Louis d'Arc is an ideological zealot of the Rockies, he believes that the African Empire should be restored to its rightful owners, the Loyalists of Africa.
History: When Louis d'Arc went to Africa in his early 20s as a soldier of the Rockies, he saw the Loyalist faction fragmented. Over the years, as he was promoted and gained experience in leadership, he could not help but feel bad for the Empire's loyalists. As they were a shell of their former self. When he was promoted to the Commander of Jointed Task Force Africa, Louis was installed as the military leader of the Loyalists and is known have said "Now marks the day that the African Empire is reborn! Once and for all."

Motto: Our legacy is Carthage.
History from the past 50 years: Adel Kari, the Mayor of Tunis under the African Empire, led his city to independence with popular support from the city's residents. The local Imperial garrison defected, pledging their support to Kari in fear of the fanatic islamists which had begun seizing control of the countryside. Kari spent the next few months consolidating his power in Tunis, establishing a benevolent dictatorship with the help of the Sardinian Colonel Gavino Angius. The following years saw a period of rapid expansion as Gavino's professional forces effortlessly seized control of the region from the disorganized and poorly armed militias. Beleaguered Imperial garrisons throughout North Africa flocked to Kari's government after recognizing that they could either band together under his leadership and prosper or stay loyal to their Emperor only to be slaughtered by the millions of disgruntled fanatics at their gates. A decade after seizing the city of Tunis with a few thousand soldiers, Adel Kari declared the creation of the Carthaginian Union; a secular and benevolent autocratic government with a large professional army which currently controls vast swathes of North Africa.

Military: The Carthaginian Armed Forces are made up of the Carthaginian Army, Navy, Airforce, Auxilia, and the Sacred Band. The Carthaginian Army relies on a well-equipped force of professional soldiers led by experienced officers, its gained some fame for its highly-effective anti-guerilla tactics and the fanaticism of its soldiers. The Carthaginian Navy operates a single aircraft carrier, which is currently docked in the newly rebuilt Great Harbor of Carthage, and two dozen other warships. The Carthaginian Airforce operates a small fleet of outdated planes and helicopters, the armed forces instead relies on SAM systems. The Carthaginian Auxilia is a highly mobile force of Libyan and Bedouin soldiers, it excels at desert and guerrilla warfare. The Carthaginian Sacred Band is a Special Forces unit consisting of 2,500 highly-trained fanatical neocarthaginian soldiers, its stationed at the Great Harbor of Carthage and guards the Cothon; the residence of the Autarch and headquarters of his government.
Demographics:
Corsicans and Sardinians: Since Sardinian Colonel Gavino Angius defected to Kari, the Corsicans and Sardinians have proudly and loyally served in the Carthaginian Armed Forces with their own homogenous units. They speak their respective languages primarily, yet nearly every Corsican and Sardinian can speak english fluently by the time they become an adult. Their standing in society is equal to that of the Neocarthaginians and they usually enjoy a high quality of life.
Neocarthaginians: The Neocarthaginians came about shortly after Adel Kari's founding of the Carthaginian Union, a unique mix between the dozens of thousands of Imperial defectors and the upper class. Nearly all of the Tunisian people have integrated into Neocarthaginian society, replacing their arabic and islam with english and secularism. The Carthaginian Armed Forces are dominated by the Neocarthaginians and minorities who enlist are usually quickly integrated.
Libyans & Bedouins: The Libyans & Bedouins have begrudgingly accepted Neocarthaginian dominance in return for support against their rivals and increased economic investment. The Libyans have the highest rate of integration out of all the arabic ethnic groups, followed by the Bedouins who are located throughout the union yet are highly concentrated along the eastern borders.
Algerians & Egyptians: The Algerians & Egyptians hold the lowest standing in Carthaginian Society due to their fierce opposition to the government. They've risen up eleven times since the founding of the Carthaginian Union, being utterly crushed after every single uprising. Their often extremist views have stopped foreign powers from intervening and supporting them, instead accepting the government's denunciation of the rebels as terrorists. (Which they often are)
Other: I read Morroco's post and the information about the newly formed african nations, ignoring it though and hope everyone is okay with the Carthaginian Union instead of the Confederacy.

Name: Adel Kari
Title: Autarch of the Carthaginian Union
Personality: Adel Kari has been described as "incredibly kind" and "honest" by nearly all of the people who have ever had the pleasure of speaking with him. Don't let this fool you though, the old man is capable of doing horrendous things to pushed up against a wall.
History: Adel Kari was born in Tunis on September 1st, 3220; he is currently a spritely 88 years old. He was the only child in an upper-middle class family, attending private schools until his enrollment in the University of Carthage where he studied political science. His parents were killed by Imperial Police during a riot in Tunis, leaving him completely alone. Adel Kari gained a seat on the city council after his graduation from the University of Carthage, later becoming Mayor of Tunis at the age of 34. When the African Empire began to crumble, he took his chances and led the city to independence.
Ideology: Social Justice (Social Democracy), Secular Humanism
Other: Adel Kari has appointed the Ander Ballacar as his successor, the 27 year-old male from Sardinia has been accepted by the military high command and is slowly transitioning to replace Kari as Autarch.

Allies: N/A, at least until the nation is formed
Military (Do not give exact numbers. Give a general outline as well as anything you'd like to add such as equipment, structure, major leaders, so on, but military will be used for story purposes.):
Finnish Sisu Army: The primary focus of the military, once it is officially created and the forces of the two halves of Finland are united. The equipment and even techniques of the army certainly have more variety than most other militaries, with a unique combination of Risian, Russian, and Finnish. But if nothing else, the Finnish Army will have some of the best snow/winter training and camouflage.
Finnish Sisu Navy: The secondary focus of the military, the navy is once again a combination of multiple kinds of watercraft. This is to assist the nearly-paranoid military in taking all possible measures to never be successfully invaded and conquered, and is trained extensively in patrolling and controlled bombardments.
Finish Sisu Airforce: A military branch which, probably for the better, is mostly comprised of purchased aircraft, pilots trained by foreign trainers, and allied air-forces. The reason for all of this being that it is easier for a formerly enslaved Finn to march or help operate a boat than it is for him to learn to pilot a fighter, especially since he doesn't have much experience with being in any airplane at all.
Finnish Sisu Militia: Every adult, 17 years and older, must receive basic (about a week's worth) training, and complete another week's worth of working with the military, and be able to utilize their household's knife/knives/gun(s) decently in case of invasion or a major draft. Although at first there will be some militia meetings and announcements, these will disappear the more safe the Finns feel that they will permanently keep their independence.

Personality: Kaleva tries to emulate and embody the 'good men' of history. Winston Churchill, FDR, Abraham Lincoln. People who weren't afraid to push the boundaries, but tried their best to secure the best result for their people. To make their nation, and ultimately the world a better and more pleasant place. But above all, they weren't ones to back down from a fight. (Yes, having his poster be him riding a cgi velociraptor was his idea.)
History: Kaleva Korhonen lived his life seeing the worst of humanity surround him. Enslavement. Enslavement of Finns by the power hungry Russians, desperate for land and a labor force. It was not the Swedes nor the Norwegians that faced such tragedy as harsh or as long as the Finns did. Kaleva, his family, his friends, and his countrymen were oppressed for years by a numerically superior force. It was only when the Russians turned their attention southward were conditions both improved and worsened. The country was sliced in half, the west given to the Risers and the east kept by the Russians. Though friends and family were torn apart, the enslavement was removed. The oppression lessened. And its been years since. But the Finns had enough. Moving up to second class citizens wasn't enough, especially not for Kavela. He heard the cries for liberation from his brothers and sisters and rose up to lead them into a new age, and to show the world the best of humanity.
Ideology: A strong monarchy, prevented from enacting tyranny by a constitution, advisors, and the public as a whole.
