God's Chosen Academy

Welcome to God's Chosen Academy. Are you new here or a returning student? I'll explain all of this to you anyhow. At birth you were granted a blessing. Blessing's range from the ability to bring animals and people back to life to being able to summon guns and even simply being able to make people like you. Their are a few types of Blessings. Either Summon , Defensive , Offensive or Misc. if you're a female. Blessing's are always specific, you can never simply just summon. You summon swords or you summon soda cans or you summon swords AND soda cans. I'll get to the male's later on.

Got that? Ok next, there is a student council, of course, and these are the people who directly talk to God. All other students pray and receive a answer later on usually in the form of a sign, a coincidence, a paradox or a letter. The student council simply talks to God, they are His messengers. The student council is directly chosen by God and.... well, The Beast... A.K.A the devil. As a treaty to end one member of the student council is chosen by the devil and has access to talk to him and God. The student body can 'pray' to the devil as well. Though its not actually praying, simply calling upon him and asking a favor or saying something. Now, everything you've heard about the devil is probably false other for examples, the devil has always been a female. She is a horrible trickster, she often sends hurricanes and tornadoes just for fun and to see reactions. But sometimes she will allow you to call upon her power in certain situations in fights.

Finally i will explain fighting and you can be on your way. Unknown's. They are what we fight against. In a clash of power between The Beast and God their power mixed to create a creature that neither can control. Unknown's look like, act like and feel like people. Infact, your mom could be a Unknown and you could be human. Unknown's, like demon's and angels, can simply fit right into society. But in certain situations Unknown's can go berserk- becoming a killing machine that suddenly is a master of the elements. Nobody knows why Unknown's go berserk but they just do. This is where you and the rest of the students here come in. If you are a female you are a Mari . A male is a Knight . A knight must kiss a Mari to make her winged. A winged Mari doesn't literally grow wings, she simply becomes much stronger and able to use her power to her full potential...sometimes. Knight's have a certain capacity, if they have a large capacity and a strong Mari the Mari can use all of her strength. But if a strong Mari become's attached to a weak capacity Knight she'll only be able to use the strength her knight has a capacity for. Knight's can have as many Mari's as they can sustain but a Mari may have only one knight.

The Riddle

Fire and ice, despise and despair. A strength and a weakness. A happiness and a sadness. What is the one thing that holds it all? Kill the traitor and offer to me the answer to my question with the one of pure mind the one of pure soul.

The Story Now

In homeroom the student council president runs in, screaming. "I quit! I cam't take this anymore! I'm finished! Someone else has to do it!" she cries out before her eyes roll to the back of her head and she's floating in mid-air on her back. From her mouth God tells everyone in the class that he's given up on humanity and he won't give up if they can solve his riddle which he tells them next. For the next week it's total anarchy, people shouting out answers and killing one another in groups of two's and three's. But the original homeroom class decides to stop the madness. Somehow they manage to calm the school down and continue them on to normal life. But now its class 3-A's sole duty to carry out the riddle...before it's too late. The only knowledge they have are that the traitor, the one of pure mind and the one of pure soul are all in their class. But they still don't know who they are or the answer to the riddle.

Things had become a lot more intense for Mariko as of the past month. It was hard to keep up her usual cheery disposition knowing it was class 3-A's responsibility to solve a nearly impossible riddle to bring God back. She'd spend hours at home, trying to think who would be the traitor. Killing aimlessly was useless and though Mariko was strong she couldn't afford to waste energy when the amount if Unknowns going berserk was slowly crawling up. Besides, even if they did locate the traitor they still had to find a person with a pure souls and a pure mind then solve an abstract riddle. It was a heavy weight that stood on her shoulders.

"Matsui-san!! Before school practice is over! School's starting!!!" a girl from class 3-B called out, waving to her. "Ah! Really!?" Mariko checked her watch, she had absolutely no concept of time and tended to always be late. Not that most of anyone was in any kind of rush to get to homeroom if they belonged to Class 3-A. Even the teacher had tried quitting but apparently she wasn't allowed to. But it was understandable, the air simply was heavier in their homeroom.

She did though speed through the girls room to change into her usual grey uniform before darting off to homeroom. She arrived with three minutes to spare, sitting down in one of the desks with a small sigh. She never really brought books to most classes. God's Chosen Academy wasn't built on the same education system as regular schools. They had more fighting classes and religion-themed classes. Infact Mariko's schedule was comprised of Homeroom, English, Stregnth Training, pre calc, Sparring, History of Jesus/his disciples and chemistry. So only about three classes had binders and notebooks necessary.

She put her head on her desk, thick blonde hair sprawling out behind her. She kind of wished she'd stopped to talk to people instead of getting to class early, it was pretty desolate in there and if Mariko hated anything it was boredom. "You're not allowed to have your head on the desk." Mrs.Akawa instructed her. The small girl still didn't move her petite figure one but, "Oh really?" the sarcastic phrase came our her mouth easily. Her sensei sighed, turning back to the whiteboard to write down all the announcements.

Amaya sat in homeroom, the seat closest to the window, second row from the back. Tilting her chair back ever so slightly, to sway freely back and forth like an autumn leaf caught in air, she surveyed her classmates from her vantage point. Tension in the atmosphere was so heavy it could sit on a man and suffocate him. And all because of a convoluted set of words demanding an answer.

It piqued her curiosity, the riddle. But what caught her attention a tenfold over was the parallels and contrasts between each pupil's reactions. Everything rode on the answer for the lot them... And it had all fallen, somehow, to this classroom- of all the classes, her homeroom. Could it not be said that luck had smiled towards her?

Her eyes floated to the source of the sudden peep. Ah, the student council's secretary. Whatever Mrs. Akawa had told her, it hadn't worked- Oh? So Mrs. Akawa did little more than retreat- she looked to be on the brink of giving up. Amaya could be wrong, easily, but it just so seemed... She'd heard their instructor had tried to quit, yet here she was, still teaching. Why had she been forced to stay? It was almost as if, rather than humanity, this school, more so, this classroom was the one being tested.

"Aha," Amaya chimed in light laughter. What a little fantasy she'd created up.

Michael had gotten to school early, not because he wanted to get to class before anyone else but because he wanted to get some early training out of the way. Training that had taken up a large portion of the early hours of his day, so much so that he had utterly forgotten to eat breakfast. It wasn't that big of a deal to the black haired boy, often times he found himself skipping the first meal of the day. Still it was hard to annoy the growing hunger within his stomach which was why; while everyone was rushing off towards class Michael was stuffing his face with a candy bar he had gotten from a vending machine. It might not have been the healthy choice from someone in Michael's line of work, but it certainly did the job of filling his stomach.

His stomach now filled and no longer gnawing at him from subsistence, he began to make his way towards his classroom. His hands resting firmly inside the pockets of his long white coat as he wandered the halls of the school. Classroom 3-A was where he was headed, the classroom which had been handed the task bring God back. All they had to go on in order to do it was a Riddle, which to Michael was just asking for them to fail. He couldn't help but feel as though God was playing some kind of joke on them, asking them to kill one of their own in order to bring him back.

That was after they found out who it was, and if it was him...he knew he wouldn't be going down without a fight. Though something told him he didn't have to worry about that at all, being the traitor anyway. He didn't feel as though he fit into any of the key roles the Riddle spoke of. He certainly wasn't pure of soul he knew that much. His soul was dirty filled with dark emotions that would be considered anything but pure. He also didn't have a pure mind, it was toiling away at things he knew he wanted, things he felt he deserved. The only role he would possibly fit into was that of the traitor and even then that was going a long way, he wasn't about to stab anyone in the back anytime soon.

He arrived in the classroom to find that a lot of the students hadn't made in yet as well. A few of them had filled their sits, but a lot of them were empty. Maybe he was early instead of late? He sighed either way and made his way towards the back of the classroom, when he heard the teacher speak to a student. Her request went unanswered, and light laughter filled the air. He turned towards the source and rolled his eyes at Amaya, "Someone say something funny that I wasn't aware of Amaya? Or are you just daydreaming?"

The talk of the class in 3-A was, most obviously. The riddle they had been tasked with solving.

It was an amazing opportunity and gift to be chosen, many said. Although a small number in the class seemed to appreciated being conscripted into the puzzle-solving.

There was one person in particular, of which quandaries such as this riddle were the farthest things from his mind.

This person was Faris Rhodri, who was seated in almost middle-most seat of the class room, up to to the left a bit, but close enough that no
distinction is needed.

You might ask what could be more important than a sacred mission to
possibly save the world from dire calamity? Well, except for the fact that Faris wouldn't have realized that dire calamity was occurring if it stabbed him in the eye socket, he was concerned about a far less prominent problem. Which was his realization that not only had he forgot to eat a donut this morning, accounting for his tiredness and the fact he was face first against his desk in utter dejected fashion. But also the reason he hadn't had one today.

Which would be the lack of any donut stores in a reasonable area around his school, which he hadn't realized before. The donuts had always sort of been there.

Reason told him that he must have gotten the donuts somewhere. For he had one for everyday he's been at the school, sometimes more. But he couldn't for the life of him remember where. And to him, this was a greater evil than the devil itself.

Perhaps he would pray to the devil for donuts, that seemed a perfectly fine idea at this point.

What to do, what to do? Mayumi thought as she walked towards the school.

There were just too many things on her mind these days, from the normal troubles of a high school student, to the added work of being the President of the Student Council. The list would usually end there, but then she was not part of just any school, she was part of the Academy, and as the President, she was to keep the peace, and as such stop any fights that occurred all around. She had to utilize her power, without a knight mind you, to make sure nothing creates chaos in their strange school. All of that she could do quite easily, as she only needed one single weakness to win any battle, but then there was the Riddle.

That cursed Riddle ruined everything. her reputation was in tatters, she had too much to do that day and so she panicked when the announcement was made. She argued with God, and she paid for it with her pride, and the respect she had from the students. She now had to deal with much more chaos than normal, the fact than no one seemed to notice was a sign of her success, but she was still quite weak compared to most. Sure it gave her a chance to play with her opponents, but that could have been time spent on better endeavors. Like sleeping. She thought with a small yawn.

She needed to keep her composure after all, she was the one most looked up to. The ones that she managed to beat into submission that is. Her powers still worked without a knight, but they were frighteningly weaker than what she knew they could be. Still it was enough to take down Unknowns here and there, as well as keep her position. No one dared face her after the last challenger ran away screaming as she weakened his resistance to pain, then kicked him hard where the sun don't shine. It was funny how he ran into a wall and fainted soon after.

She wanted to sleep as soon as she got to her desk, but she knew she could not, as the teacher was already there. She managed to catch the teacher scolding Matsui once again while Miyuki and her knight were once again at odds before she seated. She brushed her hair to the side with a dianty hand before smiling absentmindedly. They all seemed happy, or at least not particularly worried about the situation. It was the sense of normalcy, much more than the sleep she lost, that she craved for, but she better. It would not last. Then again, that didn't mean she could not cherish it.

Mariko turned to see the President walking in. The edges of her lips curved into a small smile. She respected the President greatly, Infact a more accurate phrase would be she looked up to the President. After having so many burdens placed on her shoulders she still didn't quit or run away. That was what Mariko respected the most about her, her tenacity in hard times and diligence to her job. "Good Morning President." She said in a light tone as she did most mornings.

Though she did like everyone else in the class, including her Knight whom she was solely loyal to. She had to even give credit to them for not running away from the class. Not that running worked well either, every last one of the transfers out of 3-A died in a 'accident' exactly six-hundred and sixty-six hours later. That was twenty seven days and three-fourths days. The school had tried renaming the class 3-D after that. But it was useless, each time the sign was repainted to say 3-D it said 3-A 6 hours, six minutes and six seconds later. It was a little aggravating that The Beast was so amused with them completing the riddle that she felt the need to erase every effort the school administrators made to take the kids out of it.

Her gaze drifted to Rhodri Faris next. She was never sure if he actually took the riddle seriously. Better put she wasn't sure if he took anything seriously. Though, she did find the man funny and liked him well enough- though Mariko truly liked everyone- she had to wonder if he was a part of the riddle. Pure Mind could mean a few things and if by pure God meant clear then in a instant Mariko would decide Rhodri-san fit that role. She noticed she'd been staring at the man for a few seconds there and looked away quickly, a little embarrassed she'd done so.

"A pleasant morning to you as well, Matsui-san." Mayumi greeted with a radiant smile and a small bow as she returned the greeting of the blonde-haired girl. It was always pleasant to see her, as she was one of the people who never really treated her differently after she suffered from her breakdown. She was glad she didn't have to fight her, like those who had the nerve to say she was no longer fit for duty, she didn't think she could come to harm the sweet girl. She was much too naive, much to innocence to really be someone she could go at purposely hurt.

The fact that she just kept staring at Rhodri and looked away in shame was simply more proof that the child was a child. The doughnut addict was the same thing, though she never really gave much thought as to what he thought about, some things were better of not knowing and some secret were better kept secret. He was quite silly at times, and never really invested in most things, but she could feel that he was hiding something, then again, she would never pry if it came right down to it.

She was most worried about the arguing, or loving depending on how one interpreted it, pair. Sure, she could probably take them easy enough, but there was something quite not right about them. As much as she liked Miyuki, she seemed to have the same feel as Yoshida, and she was chosen by the trickster of a devil. As such, around both of them, she really could not let her guard down, even after they had gotten to know each other, she tried her best to know everyone to some degree, somewhat.

She waved the thoughts from her mind, she could be making a mistake again. She was human after all, one of the strongest beings here, but still human.

Eyes abyssal hued swam away from the secretary to Micheal. Amaya shook her head gently, a soft smile inclining upwards and creasing her face. "Just a thought I had," she returned. Then lifted an index finger to point at his mouth, "Alex, you have a little something here..." at the same time squishing the top of her thumb into the corner of her own mouth where upper lip met lower lip. Looked like the remnants of Micheal's breakfast. But she could be wrong, easily.

Though speaking to Micheal, her ears were still wandering, catching bits of conversation. Ah, that voice conversing with the secretary, that was the president. Cordial as ever, she was. Her mannerisms befit one who was the head of the student council. It required a stretch of the imagination to think that young woman sitting there now was the same one who'd succumbed to the pressures of her standing. Amaya had not been there when the fateful breakdown had happened, but with it having been the talk of the school, she could not have missed a single detail even if she had wanted to. Hard to believe, but it had happened, and what intrigue it sprouted within her.

She drew her gaze away from Micheal to the classroom. Faris looked to be in deep thought again. Though nothing about the boy of dove colored hair intrigued her, he was not boring either. There was a certain level of amusement to be gained if one were to stay around him just long enough. And with the way he approached life- by choice or by disposition- he had nothing to fear about the pressures most of the other students felt. Perhaps in his simplicity he had a strength... The opposite of the president, who in complexity laid her strength. That was how Amaya saw it... Mmm... with all this, how can I not look forward to homeroom?

Homeroom, despite its mysteries, intrigues, and overall atmosphere, still surprisingly did not take the spot of favorite for Amaya. Rather, for the girl of hair the color of moonless night, her favorite of all things school based was none other than Kendo Club. The team met after the last class of the day, mentally drained from the day of school, but still ready to push on. They took prompt from their co-captain- No-one quite pushed themselves like Micheal did. The members saw and followed suit, improving along the way. Speaking of which...

Descending from her place in the clouds, Amaya turned her neck once more so that her dark eyes could fall upon Micheal. "Up for a little one on one after practice?" It was not unusual for Amaya to spar with members of the kendo team. Or in this case, the co-captain. Micheal especially made for a sparring partner like none other. No matter what the circumstance, he never went easy on her. It was one of the best ways to test her own skills, make sure she was staying sharp. As it were, she was overdue for a match of skills. "Though with the way you're eating, you might be down and out come time."

She meant it as a comment made casually. It was how she meant it. But with the way her smile curled softly around the edges, and the mild inflections in intonation, it sounded like she was teasing.

Mariko's eyes glanced up briefly towards the clock. She'd noticed the absences of a few of her classmates, though most important to her would be her Knight's absence. Granted, there were probably two minutes left before homeroom started but she tended to worry more than she should about her Knight. It was a bad habit at times but at other times it turned out to be a habit that saved him.

She pulled out a notebook and a purple sharpie pen. The notebook was ordinary and composition. She usually blew through three or four in a month since she wrote so often so spending he extra money to by a fancy one wasn't worth it. Besides, she liked the organization of having every notebook look the same. She began writing in her usual loopy and overly-ornate cursive. She'd taken a calligraphy class and ever since, much to her teachers chagrin, she'd been using what she'd learned ever since even if for some it was hard to read.

She'd noticed the steady sound of a squeaky dry-erase marker writing on a whiteboard stopping. She looked up at all the announcements. It was the usual, the announcements of which teams or clubs were having a event or were open to members, what the student council was doing or wanted to be announced along with which teachers were absent and who was substituting. The only thing that mattered to Mariko at the moment was where the Tennis Team was having a brief meeting during free-period.

Though seconds later the last announcement at the very bottom of the board caught her eye. What? A upperclassmen sparring event during lunch? Awesome! They're even getting the lunch catered from some special place. It sounds fun. Besides, my strength has gone up since the last time there's been one of these. It'll be good practice for the next time an Unknown randomly goes berserk in the school grounds anyways. Today's only Wednesday and I've had to go against five of them.

Zero was wondering around school he didn't want to go to class not after the riddle that's been the bane of his life why did it have to be class 3-A surely any other class could have handled it. He checked the time and saw that if he tried he could make it to the classroom which he should do since he knows his Mari would be worried. He sighed and walked to the classroom 3-A and opened the door.

Zero walked in and looked around he wasn't the only one either skipping or just taking there time to get there. He saw his Mari Mariko Matsui the girl he also had a crush on but would never say since it would make working together awkward. He took his usual seat and the first thing he thought about was the riddle but he thinks it was just since he was in the classroom. He turned to face Mariko. "Good morning Mariko have a nice sleep?" Zero asked trying to take his mind away from the riddle with some good old conversation.

Zero turn back and faced the teacher who was giving a glare at him must be from him hitting it so close to the bell but at least he came. "Can I help you with something Mrs.Akawa or do you just want to stare at me." Zero said he didn't care what the teacher thought about him since she has already tried to quit so he doughts she would last much longer. Mrs.Akawa didn't say anything which Zero was pleased about he couldn't be bother with a argument just yet.
