It was a grey morning and everyone had just come back from the summer vacations. Gracie didn't know why she was standing outside at the lake, watching the giant squid playing with some ducks. The weather was typical British weather and she summoned it would rain soon as she randomly looked up at the clouded sky. It was untypical cold for a September morning even though it was late September. Ever she had come back from Summer holiday, Gracie had a feeling that things would go over the top. Especially with the war going on outside. She had read everything about it on the Daily Prophet even though many things had been rubbish, if you asked her. She wrapped her Hogwarts cloak closer around herself and randomly looked at the watch at her wrist. Breakfast had just started and she thought about either staying outside or walking back inside because she knew somehow breakfast was always tastier when you were earlier than most people. It was a weird occurrence but true nevertheless. With a sigh, she grabbed her bag with books and started walking towards the Great Hall not paying attention to anything but her thoughts.
"Sytherin" I remember the sorting hat call out I'm in Sytherin I think taking a bite out of Toast , Yank that's what everyone calls me It seems like only yesterday when a strange letter arrived at my house back home in Charleston South Carolina I was reading a book minding my own business when I got that stupid letter , I was picked on back home and picked on here back home is was the fact that my head was in a book 24/7 and that I practiced swordsmen ship the worst thing was when someone called me a Antichrist on a youth grope field trip back in First Grade it was a trip to the zoo and there was this Snake and I swear to god the thing talked to me when I started talking back no one would sit with me for a whole two years the fact that the house I got assigned to's emblem is a Snake is well a little to ironic well being picked on where your from instead of what your hobbies are well at least that's a improvement right ? when that Giant Hagrid came to our house and told my parents that I would have to be sent over here to school my Mom almost had a gasket well she did... The truth is I was supposed to go to New York for Wizarding School but ..... well lets just say the American Wizarding population is on a sharp decline thanks to a organization that hates Wizards . I didn't even know I was a Wizard in till two mouths ago I fell my wooden sword batter against the bench that i'm sitting at apparently melee combat is a required class this year and I heard some older kid talking about how the First Years were lucky because were aloud to have broomsticks more like required the Ministry of Magic says that their afraid that the Muggle Menaces is going to attack Hogwarts and they want every one to be ready just in case ..... In case of another Salem , although the Salem Witch Trials were a bunch of bull crap and innocents were killed and the muggles royally messed up , the Wizards still set up a school their to taunt the muggles I learned that from a book i'm readying North America and Wizarding anyway a few days ago Salem was about to come back from summer holiday it was the first day of school and well lets just say Salem's class rooms are empty 5000 dead as I'm thinking this I see a girl walk into the great hall she's wearing a red scarf I haven't said or even tried to make any friends every time I open my mouth it's ha your a yank or when they don't say anything they look at me like i'm crazy I realize just then that i'm going to get that reaction a lot might as well try and make some friends " Hi" I say as she sits down beside me
My Character Rhett has a mild Southern accent also he's big for his age with a ruddy complexion dirty blonde hair and blueish green eyes
She entered the castle feeling the warm air inside and sighed a bit. Gracie felt exhausted because she hadn't really been able to sleep all night long. Her summer break had been hard with her parents forcing her to take a side on the war. Of course, they had expected her to take the wizarding side with a radical view. You had to know that her parents weren't against the Dark Arts at all and even practice that kind of magic. So, she had been growing up with a certain view but once she was sorted into Gryffindor her friends had made her doubt her beliefs and therefore she had been torn but still agreed on sharing the view of most Pureblood families that Muggle were just outcast and needed to be eliminated for the sake of the magical population. From far away a boy's voice called in and she looked besides her. "Hello.", she replied as her sophisticated accent was shown. She gave the boy a gentle smile "Are you new here?", she asked him with a cocked eyebrow.
Rhett looks up she's the first one not to call be , Yank well I haven't tried to talk to any one in my house but she hasn't called me a Yank I want to jump for joy I smile back when she smiles I see her teeth well looks like most stereotype are a bunch of bull she has a pretty smile very pretty thank god i'm not turning red I've always been well liked the other sex a lot although out school I sat with girls one of my many reasons people ripped on me. The thing is i'm twice as strong as most of my bullies back home the only reason I put up with it was because bad things seemed to happen to them that and the fact that my parents paid me if I just sat back and let them take care of the scum bags " Yeah i'm new " I then add " Sorry you have to share your school with a bloody Yank the Muggles are making trouble back home " I say smiling
by the way Rhett's voice sounds like Elvis just for a reference
She gave him her cheesy grin, which could be straight out of an toothpaste commercial. "Don't tell me more. It's not better here in England. Those bloody Muggles need to finally be stopped! So, we can live in peace", Gracie told him with a dark glisten in her eyes. Her mind was still set the way her parents had wanted her to be. "So, you're not from Britain? How did you get in? I mean isn't this school reserved to British people? No offense to you, I'm just wondering.", Gracie explained while getting herself some waffles. "I'm Gracie Peverell, by the way.", she introduced herself and looked at the boy for a moment before starting to taking a bite of her waffle.
Rhett I look at the girl "Not any better in England ? " I asked shocked I hear her second question on how I got here " My parents sent me here " I say drinking some water " After that whole Salem thing The Ministry of Magic advised my parents that it would be a good idea to send me out of country somewhere safer" I remember Hagrid siting with Mom and Dad and telling them of all the things that was going on I was supposed to be in bed but I heard it all, The Order of the Serpent or as Hagrid said Voldemort's people who fled to America are fighting a underground war against the Muggle oppressors in their capitol of New Orleans apparently it's bloody so much so that The American Ministry shut down all schools on the South Eastern Seaboard I was going to New York for school but then Salem happened and Hagrid ended up carting over to England "I wanted to go to Durmstrang and learn the dark arts but alas my Mom said that she wanted me at Hogwarts " I say I don't know a bloody thing about this Wizard world but I hear the word Dark Arts and i'm in "Rhett Maultsby Slytherin" I say smiling one of the few prides I have is my teeth it's the only thing besides my brain and my swordsmanship I take real pride in
"Of course. She wanted you here. Hogwarts is better than those Norwegian idiots!", she told them sounding arrogant as her school pride was showing and continued "Plus simply because Hogwarts doesn't teach its students the dark arts doesn't mean we don't know them and how to perform it. Besides some people might be better off not knowing that kind of magic" The last sentence she added more quietly as her thoughts wandered to her family and what they were capable of doing She looked at the boy as he introduced himself and nodded politely "Nice to meet you Rhett.", she looked at his uniform and recognized the Silver and Green pattern on it. "I'm Irene Black, Gryffindor.", she replied and pointed at her scarf. She smiled back at the boy as unlike most Gryffindor she didn't care about the rivalry between their houses. Her brother had been part of Slytherin when he attended Hogwarts.
Black , Black in the short time I've been here I have read a few books Black " Curious name , Black " I say slowly "Any relation to Sirius Black " I ask then I add " What makes Hogwarts different than any other school?" It's a fair question their have been great people from Durmstrang and other wizard schools then when she says she's from Gryffindor I think back to what Professor Malfoy said last night to the first years about being weary of Gryffindors I study her for a second longer seems an honest face and she doesn't look like she's aiming to get a first year Snake in trouble
"Yeah... I'm related to that guy", she said with a bit of disgust in her way. Her family had been talking about the infamous Sirius Black and mostly nothing good. Irene herself never had met him before but she couldn't imagine that he was a decent person. The family stories had been really bad. "We brought out the best people so far. I could never imagine people like Dumbledore or Saint Potter going to a school like Durmstrang.", she said even though the names came out with a bit of irony. She didn't have the best opinion towards those two persons but most people did, so they were a good reference. She recognized the way he was looking at her and she replied "If I had wanted to hex you for being a Slytherin, don't you think I would've already done so? I have no interest in the feud between Slytherin and Gryffindor. In fact my brother is in your house and I can't help than admire him for that fact."
OC: No worries. We all get caught up sometimes ( )
" Yeah but Grindelwald" I say in awe yeah this place got Voldemort and Potter and many others but Grindelwald ...... Okay maybe he did try and enslave the entire muggle population but the more and more I learn this week i'm not sure if that's such a bad thing I mean my parents are muggles and their cool and I love them but everyone eles I have ever meet has done nothing but bring me down for reading or liking something no one else likes or for talking to snakes maybe a wizard run world wouldn't be such a bad thing I would be in the elite for once in my life " Your brother was in Slytherin ?, that's a surprise it says in my book that Sirius Black was Gryffindor, you must have inherited more of his traits then your brother"
"Actually my whole family was part of Slytherin. Except for me and Sirius Black.", she answered and continued "I don't really know much about Muggles except for the fact that they always have tried to enslave or kill us.But to be honest I don't know who I would want to run this world. There are frankly a lot of wizards and witches I would not want to se running our world." She had never thought much about this war between Muggles and Wizards. But if it came to a fight including her, she wanted to make sure that she was on the winning side. "Besides what do those Muggles really want to do against us? Poking me with a knife or something?", she asked in a despicable tone before continuing "I would have them hanging on a tree with some spells before they came too close to me!"
