❝ duke jones. ❞

throwing darts in lovers' eyes
❝ cursory information. ❞
【nickname(s)】— the duke.
【gender】— male.
【age】— 31
【sexuality】— bisexual.
【d.o.b.】— january 20th, 1943 - aquarius.
【f.c.】— david bowie, circa 1975
❝ personality. ❞
Duke takes in the world for what it is and what it's worth, appreciating little. Some may see him as cold and judgemental, but that may just be a side effect of the cocaine. He is analytical, making constant mental notes of those who he interacts with, and how is he seen by others - his outward representation is constantly on his mind. His ego is so severely inflated to the point of damage; he ends up reminding himself and others on a daily basis that he could easily drop everything, walk downtown, and have anyone scream for his autograph. He tries to take things slow, at his own pace, doing what is comfortable. He doesn't remember life before becoming famous - he would be a shell of a man without it. He certainly embraces the "pained artist" aesthetic, but is also very powerful, knowing that he has connections with the most famous of the famous and has control of The Followers in his palm. He knows that the band would be nothing without him.
On the other hand, when things aren't all venomous words or business, those who he's able to console are rather close to his heart. Not necessarily the "fatherly figure", he is an old and wise soul, and enjoys lending advice to those willing to take it from him. He greatly admires long, philosophical conversations over a drink.
❝ likes/dislikes. ❞
【likes】— relieving his agression through performing, staying up late to watch the summer night's stars, overly fancy and pompous restaurants, buying luxury items he will ultimately never use, vintage cars.
【dislikes】— having to yell during arguements or debates, flying, disingenuous smiles, quiet waiting rooms, french accents.
【mannerisms】— grinding his teeth, that judgemental stare landing on you for just a bit too long, cracking his knuckles, playing with cigarettes while they're still lit.
❝ history. ❞
Duke is ever so slightly ashamed to call Los Angeles his home. Born and raised along the coast, he spent his young years mercilessly flip-flopping between art and academics. His parents were both renown professors at the polytechnic university, and treasured intellect above all else. The disconnect, and later rebellion against his parents started when Duke discovered his affinity for music. He continued his studies in business just to make his parents happy, and he succeeded greatly, but it never felt right. Once protests began happening in west Hollywood over the arrival of the Korean War, Duke picked up a job at a locally-owned record store and spent his hours protesting. He became known within the peace activist scene well into the early 60s, and by then, he had picked up plenty of guitars and taught himself how to play. He offered lessons for young teens in the back of the record shop, and recruited more young protestors that way. In the winter of '67 he was introduced to some people who were interested in making a band together, not just for the protests but for the sake of making music, and the rest is history.
