I've been playing BG2 since i was bloody 8 years old, i have a few tricks up my sleeve. funnily enough i never completed BG1 D:

Is there a similar item in BG1?

There's always a nymph cloak or algernon's cloak but both only add +2 to charisma. Unfortunately the ring of influence is limited to BG2 :/

Well I checked the wiki and there are apparently these gloves that increase strength to 18

Yeah they're in BG2 too. there's a lot of items which reset your stats. there's a +2 mace in BG2 which gives you 18 strength and i always equip it to my cleric.
