I would've put this in fandom, but this is going to be in a completely different universe than either the Witcher series or Cyberpunk 2077 and you don't need to know anything about either of them to take part in this RP!

Anyway, here's the pitch:

Right before the Earth was finally sucked dry of its natural resources and the Sun itself was obscured behind a sky of black smog, humanity discovered a material unlike any that had been seen before. Its physical and chemical properties laughed in the face of the laws of physics, and its potential as an energy source dwarfed the output its competitors. This fuel, taloson, was found in abundance beneath the very Earth's crust in a drilling excavation, and has played a key role in the rapid development of technology that followed its discovery. Unfortunately, in the race to beat global warming, humanity neglected to test the full extent of the effects of taloson exposure to humans. After a few years of constant subjection, the fuel causes sudden massive DNA mutations, resulting in the formation of unholy monsters. By the time these effects were uncovered, chunks of the population had already lost their humanity.

Most of these monsters have gone into hiding, emerging only to feed on the human populace. Some became too much for local authorities to handle. Something needed to be done.

That's where you come in. Here in the sprawling city of Eden, scientists have already managed to control the effects of taloson mutagens to give individuals extraordinary abilities. And thus, a new prototype race of genetically modified soldiers were born in the hopes that humanity can fight fire with fire. Their enhanced bodies and senses have since proven invaluable in hunting down and killing monsters. Maybe you're not one of these super soldiers, maybe you're a vanilla human who's along for the ride. All that matters is that you've got the skills to hunt monsters and people are willing to pay for your services.

You and the rest of the monster hunters roam the streets, looking for contracts, maybe chasing up the odd crime. Money, altruism, fame - whatever your reason, expect that the day might come when there's a threat that you can't take on alone.

This looks really fun. Have they learned to control talosen and is it still used as a fuel source or has humanity moved back to natural resources after the incident? Is global warming at an all time bad? And is technology like super futurey?

Taloson is now regulated by robots or some other convenient system but what's important is that only a few people will ever be accidentally exposed to taloson and become monsters, certainly less than before. Humanity can't afford to be rid of taloson and is completely reliant on it.

Global Warming and pollution are massive threats. I was gonna save this for the main thread but the Earth is pretty much uninhabitable outside of the super cities.

Technology is indeed super futurey. Laser guns, cloaking devices, teleportation, cyborgs, pretty much every cyberpunk cliche is on the market.
