Galen was in the library. Unsurprising, since that's where one could usually find him. He was currently working on an essay for Charms that hadn't even been assigned yet, but after a little bit of pleading to Professor Flitwick, he had been told of the assignment. Of course, he knew it was time for that silly little party, and he also knew that he was required to go. However, he was not required to join in the festivites, merely to just exist in the room for a certain amount of time. So, he stood from his place in the library, fished his wand from his pocket, and changed into something more formal than what he was already wearing. He was always dressed rather smartly, so it wasn't much of an upgrade. But, it was still an upgrade considering his hair was a bit less messy from the usual.
When he arrived at the banquet hall, he still had all of his study materials in his arms, as he planned to sit at one of the tables and continue his studies as the festivities meandered along. But it just so happened that he had walked in directly behind Silas Angelov, this sixth year Slytherin bad boy. Galen didn't particularly care for him, but he could recognize the merit in his rather attractive appearance. And, he had to conclude, that his representation of his certain aesthetic was incredibly flawless. Though he did hear the words the guy uttered to Seraphine Favager, a girl that Galen rather pitied. He could sense the unhappiness in her presence, even though she so carefully wore her mask.
Galen couldn't help but hear as Seraphine called out after Silas. "Just because I had it handled, doesn't mean you can avoid your duties, Angelov! Just what do you think Professor Snape would say to your actions?" Sera had whirled on the guy, and honestly, Galen couldn't deny that the guy deserved it. "Don't think you can flatter your way out of this one by giving me credit for the work I'm capable of. That isn't going to work this time." Galen couldn't keep from laughing aloud. Probably a mistake considering Seraphine immediately whirled onto him. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me, Galen! Studying? On the night of a Gala? I'm incredibly offended."
Galen shrugged, not wanting to give into her slightly aggressive tone. "It shouldn't be any surprise to you Seraphine. You're well aware that these sorts of things aren't among my list of favorites. At least I came."
"At least you dressed up." That was her retort? Well, it seemed she had some issued with what certain people were wearing. How sad that she felt as if she had to micro-manage that much. With a polite murmur of a salutation, Galen made his way to a table to resume his studying.
