Arianna Dela Cour

“What do you think of this one?” Aria huffed quietly as she stared at the floor length mirror inside their room. “It’s not exactly revealing and the cut is good.” She tried to reason out to herself as she inspected the dress she was wearing. “What do you think?” Aria turned around, smiling awkwardly in front of her roommate, Preston Walker. Theresa, her other roommate was already on the Great Hall since she is prefect, so it was up to Preston to ease Aria’s slightly neurotic attitude that night. Aria was wearing a black luxurious silk dress with a couple of gems that studded the waist line. She turned her back again, “You’re right, it’s not good enough. It looks hideous. I think I’ll go with the first one.” Aria immediately added without waiting for her response, the girl dash out the room and head straight towards the bathroom.
-
After a couple of minutes, Aria came back wearing a red gossamer dress this time. It is floaty and sheer not to mention, figure flattering. On a normal occasion, Aria is not exactly vain. She’s confident and easy going and she’s very comfortable in her skin. The reason she wanted to look her best that night because she decided to finally talk to someone she fancies. Ever since first year. Aleksei Pendragon. A guy who probably doesn’t know she exist. She promised to herself last year that she’ll finally talk to him and won’t just stare or hide in the broom cupboard if he was passing through. She's out going enough, but Aria can’t exactly figure out why she can’t just talk to him.

“This is better, right?” Aria asked Preston again before tossing the black dress back on her bed. “I mean, it’s the color of our house. I’m a proud Gryffindor of course!” She raised both of her hands that look like an idiotic cheer. Aria look down on her dress, the cut of the dress is still prudent and covers a lot of her creamy skin but the neckline looks slightly provocative. Probably because of her half siren blood, who knows. “Oh god, I look stupid.” The girl sighed quietly, covering her face with both of her hands before falling back on her bed.

Midas Doherty
The young Gryffindor smiled earnestly when he spotted Carmen around the corner about to head back into the Great Hall. She was completely in her zone, which fascinated him. He would not have been surprised if she had simply not noticed him standing right next to the door, but she did and to top it off she complimented his impeccable taste in suits. "Why thank you Carmen," he said, fixing his tie unnecessarily, "You look simply radiant yourself." He meant it. Red was certainly her colour. "Go ahead and continue your incessant organising...have fun." He smiled as she bustled away.

It was not long before he was joined by another beautiful girl, a Hufflepuff prefect he had not neglected to notice if only for her looks. He would usually turn on the charm, but the girl seemed so dreamy and fairy-like that he decided against it, believing she would probably be oblivious, and that would be no fun. "Yes it is all rather grand isn't it? It seems the party is already in full swing. I don't believe I introduced myself. Midas, Midas Doherty." he sad his own name with a sense of importance. He was going to be future Minister of Magic after all.

Mette Strand
Agnar and Karina Strand had never been proud of parenting a Witch. They were neither ashamed of making that known to their daughter , Mette. However , her earning a position as a Prefect in her fifth year had managed to fuel their ( already astoundingly large ) superiority complex. Mette would have liked to believe that she was indifferent to their opinion of her , yet the blonde could not deny that she sought their approval.

Subsequent to having assisted in preparing the Welcome Gala , Mette browsed the splendid decor. She had changed into her dress and was now completing a final round of the hall , ensuring that she had not neglected anything. However , the woman flinched mid - step as she felt a soft brush against her leg. 'Hva?' she glanced down , surprised to see a cat lingering by her feet - one that was not her own. 'Hva er det du vil ha?' she arched a brow , unimpressed.

She made an effort to ignore the creature , passing by it and holding the expectation that whoever owned it would come to collect it. Unfortunately , the sociable ball of fluff followed. Mette halted with a sigh. 'I am not your mother,' she stated as she lifted up the docile creature and held it before her. She had maintained her typical dispassionate expression up until she heard a soft meow in response. Mette could not suppress her smile. She supposed that the feline was rather sweet.

'I apologise, but I do not believe you are a guest?' Mette smirked. She figured that she would have appeared senseless speaking with a cat , though it only became a concern to her once all the remaining students began to filter in. She abruptly set the feline down , her brief smile fading from her face. Not many people had arrived yet - however she could hear the beginning of the chatter. It made her feel somewhat disheartened , not that it was something that she cared to make known. She was not close with many people - perhaps she was simply not likable , though she was not one to ponder on the subject.

Emerson Albrecht
As Emerson considered her rather disheveled appearance in the dormitory mirror, she came to the conclusion that trying to rig her motorbike for flight purposes before preparing for a banquet was poor judgment on her part. Black oil smudges stained her cheek and colored her nail-beds an unsightly charcoal. The unpleasant scent of burnt rubber clung to her hair, as well. To make matters worse, she had somehow misplaced her wand, so there was no way she could fix her problems with magic, which was her best solution.

She leapt onto her bed, stripping the sheets from the mattress like a madwoman in hopes that her wand would turn up amongst the wreckage. She was horribly mistaken and now she had made a mess of her portion of the room. Out of frustration, she moved to run a hand through her hair, only to find her wand stabbed through the mass of her messy bun.

"You have got to be kidding me," she muttered incredulously.

Without a second to lose, and with a graceful flick of her wand, she coaxed her magic to erase the mess of both her room and her skin. She glanced in the mirror momentarily, her face clear of smudges and her hair smelling like roses and falling in gentle waves. A wave of relief washed over her as she realized she wouldn't have to greet Omar while in such a messy state. Remembering that he was surely in the common room awaiting her arrival, she flung herself from her bed and slipped into a mid-thigh length, scarlet gown, paired off with a set of gold-toned heels. Cinched at the waist and possessing an exposed back, the dress accentuated her thin, yet womanly figure in the best way possible. She smiled at her own reflection before altering her appearance further by adding a red lip and mascara to lengthen her lashes.

Finally, she descended down the stairs to the common room, deciding that she was presentable enough to let Omar see her. She could feel the metaphorical butterflies in her stomach at the thought of him and she silently chided herself for being so ridiculous. But she did like him. Why else would she be so hellbent on looking like a girl for once, let alone for the banquet itself?

When she laid eyes on him, she felt her cheeks flare red hot in spite of herself.

"Uh, hey," she said foolishly. She was being an idiot, truly. "You look, wow."

Silas Angelov
Silas arrived in the Great Hall late, as always, and impeccably dressed, as always, in a tailored black tuxedo. He strode through the doors with a confidence that drew people’s eyes. He was almost certain that Sera would give him an earful about being late and doing barely anything to help from the glare she was giving him.
“Relax,” He told her as he passed on the way to the food table, “I knew you had it handled.” And besides he’d had his own business to handle. That Hufflepuff girl had practically ambushed him, was he supposed to walk away? And then she’d gotten lipstick on his shirt, which had been irritating but an occupational hazard he supposed. Either way he felt justified in his tardiness. Serving himself some punch he was disappointed to find it woefully un-spiked, he was slightly disappointed but sure he had only to wait an hour or so until the party was in full swing. Silas was restless and itching for some kind of entertainment, trouble or otherwise. Surveying the crowd he spotted Caleb entering the great hall and went over to meet him. Caleb and Silas were unlikely friends, Caleb being both a Gryffindor and a muggleborn, but they had met three years prior fighting over a girl who, as it turned out, wanted nothing to do with either of them and the rest had been history.

Alexander Blaise

Alexander sauntered towards the Great Hall like the festivity is especially for him. He has the gait of confidence, a charming smile and a handsomely tailored suit; black, a logical choice for a man of noir. All in all, he looks certainly dashing and perfect. Like always. His hair was tousled in their usual messy but in a perfect way and he already erased the lipstick mark on his cheek and lips before entering the banquet hall. He obtained the stain when Alexander took a quick visit to a fourth year from Ravenclaw. He was getting tired of her and wanted to end things. He did though, Alex ended the one week fling with her but the girl was quite incessant that she requested one last hurrah from him. His hands were tied (figuratively this time), and Alexander is all for satisfying and pleasing everyone.

The prefects made a terrific job, Alex found the decors of the hall simply spectacular. The banquet was an exceptional idea and he took a mental note to give kudos to the lovely Carmen later on. Now, Alex was just hoping that someone would spike the punch bowl then everything would be golden. By this time, students started arriving one by one so he went in. Hands on his pockets, Alexander looked around, checking the others. It is so rare to see others on their best dress, and seeing some of them right now was a revelation and some, unfortunately, were a letdown. Still not finding anyone interesting enough, he started walking around….before finally finding Eva. A sly smile etched upon his lips as he walks behind her, Alex then leaned in and whispered in her ears. “Goodness, and here I thought everything here is boring and plain.” Pausing, he placed a hand on her waist. “I knew there’s beauty in here somewhere and all I have to do is look. I guess, I’m lucky enough that I found it now.”

Alaia Vega
Alaia couldn’t help but smile at Caleb’s attempts to get her to lighten up. She refrained from informing him that she would, in fact, prefer to be reading about a goblin rebellion and instead let herself be twirled under his arm as he complimented her dress and her efforts with the decorations.
“Thank you.” She smiled, “You don’t look so bad yourself.” Caleb’s playful nature always put her at ease. Before the conversation could continue Alaia’s attention was caught by Jessamine, one of the fifth year prefects from her own house.
“Yes, Jessamine. You’re free to go and enjoy the festivities.” She nodded. “And I get what you mean, I’m not much for parties either. Just go ahead and socialise, maybe find someone to dance with.” She smiled kindly at the younger girl. With a deep, calming breath she surveyed the Great Hall once more before turning back to Caleb.
“Perhaps I should take my own advice. But first, I’m starving.” She gestured in the direction of the food table.

Talfryn Cadwallder
Talfryn was not the most disciplined Prefect. He was not irresponsible , however he was somewhat loose with the authority that had been given to him. The boy was neither as dedicated as few of his Prefect associates when it came to preparing the Banquet hall for the Welcome Gala. Regardless , he did care - he just failed to be as particular as some.

The Hufflepuff student did genuinely believe that the fifth and sixth year Welcome Gala was a pleasant idea. He was generally quite sociable himself - however he figured that this was an opportunity to speak with those he was not so familiar with. Additionally , the event had his fellow sixth year Prefect , Vasilisa Ivashkov , very enthusiastic. In spite of not being as spirited , Talfryn was indisputably contented.

Talfryn had positioned himself by the end of the food table ( another factor that had added to his jovial mood ) and was snacking as more people began to make their arrival. He glanced up as a fellow Hufflepuff had made his way over to the food table. He knew the boy , Gareth Roden - Smith , he was in his year and the Captain of the Quidditch team. 'Had the same idea?' Talfryn asked , raising a brow, 'all the good stuff goes first.' The boy would have added his signature - dimpled grin had in not been for him simultaneously trying to eat a pastry.

Galilahi Yang
Galilahi Yang had not fallen asleep the night before the Welcome Gala. Following her attempt to sleep , the brunette had crept out after curfew. There was something about the night air that appealed to her , the cool breeze simultaneously calmed and enlivened her. It was a feeling complicated to explain. She had remained outside until the morning , watching the spectacular sunrise at dawn. She had then subsequently slunk back inside , following the same path she had ever since first year to avoid wandering eyes and open ears. However , Gal did not deny she had been caught more than once.

Unfortunately , fatigue accompanied a lack of sleep. Hence , the typically vibrant Gal was sprawled out on her bed taking a nap. She had been in the midst of a deep slumber ( which unluckily involved some drooling ) until her pillow abruptly slipped out from underneath her head and started to repeatedly beat her until she sat up in a daze. 'I knew I shouldn't 'ave charmed you,' she scowled and grabbed the pillow , carelessly throwing it back onto the bed. 'Oh man,' Gal sighed heavily , stretching out her arms and her back.

It was only once she had become fully conscious that she noticed the absence of both Daghda and Amelia. She furrowed her brow and glanced in Nashmia's direction, 'Has it already started? I swear I set my pillow for the right time...hmm,' Gal shrugged , feeling rather indifferent about the thought of being late. She then casually wandered over to her bedside table , retrieving her red dress that she had carelessly hung over the lamp earlier.

After having slipped into her dress and slid on a pair of sandals , Gal approached the mirror. She considered re-braiding her hair. It was currently done up in a loose fishtail braid that sat to one side. It appeared a little messy from her nap , however that was it's usual appearance. The witch continued to examine her appearance for a long moment before finally coming to her conclusion. 'Lookin' groovy,' the girl playfully titled her head back , pointing at her reflection with finger guns.

'So , i'm ready,' she remarked and wandered to the door with a glance over at Nashmia , 'You done?'

Jolie Hayle
Jolie was happy that the eight of July happened to be on a weekend. Had it not been, it would have meant she would have spent a whole day out in the light which made her prone to crankiness and nausea. Granted the professors had kindly worked out a way for the girl to even walk freely in the daytime, but it was not without side effects and if she had to go to a party she would rather not be feeling nauseas and cranky when she arrived.

So, luckily the young vampire girl had spent the entire day sleeping and rejuvenating, only to hunt a couple of hares in the grounds before making herself presentable for a party she was hesitant to go to. Jolie still had trouble trusting humans. After all her 'father' had taught her, what she had learned about them was difficult to unteach. Regardless, she would attend and converse as much as possible.

Dressed in a simple black dress, she made her way to the Great Hall and toward someone who looked of interest, simply because a cat was near her. Jolie had always been fond of the independent creatures and it was certainly a talking point.

Lovely cat," she said simply, "must be well educated to get an invite." Her tone was dripping with her deadpan sarcastic humour and the now faint traces of an Australian accent. It was safe to say Jolie did not recognise the blonde before her, because she tended to avoid people for their own sake.

Ezra Solis
With a little skip to his steps, Ezra made his way around the food table, making sure the food he presented was still warm enough to be served and that everything was properly placed. It had to be perfect, however, at thinking of the words "perfect" and "prefect", Ezra laughed slightly to himself, finding that the two words go hand-in-hand. Ezra wanted to make a good impression as it was his first time being a prefect, so everything has to go smoothly, right?

As he admired his handiwork, he couldn't help but feel . . well. .a sense of pride. It was honestly one of his best work yet and the smell was. . . incredible! However, Ezra was brought out of his small daze when he heard a voice addressing him. Turning towards the female, Ezra grinned lopsidedly at none other than his housemate Cameron.

But, before he could get a word in, which was saying something since he talked. . . a lot, Cameron ended up complimenting him and admitted that she liked that he was chosen to be the cook for the Banquet. Ezra, of course, blushed at the complimented as didn't know how to react correctly. Rubbing the back of his head, Ezra chuckled before giving his trademark expression: a lopsided-grin. "Thank you, Cameron! Yeah! I was in charge and I am honestly humbled and honored they would choose me! Of all people! It is an amazing feeling. And. . I'm really happy you like my cooking!" Ezra responded, slightly shy, but still enthused only to laugh softly at Cameron's comment on wanting to go to bed but can't.

Although he didn't know Cameron much, he knew it wouldn't be long before he would! Ezra always felt that if he couldn't get through someone by conversation, surely food would be help! As Cameron changed into her attire for the night, Ezra was reminded of his own need to change as well. So, taking out his wand, which always made him surreal whenever he weild it, with a flick, his attire changed instantly. Out was the baggy pants and white t-shirt he wore and in was the purple velvet jacket, white button up shirt, and light black pants.

Giving Cameron a thumbs up on her choice of wardrobe and logic, Ezra chuckled, "You still look beautiful, Cameron." He said sincerely before taking a small tray of ready-made sandwiches. "You didn't think I wouldn't have saved something on the side for all of us, would you? Oh, the horror! Ezra exclaimed, slightly dramatically, before speaking again,"I figured that since everyone was so busy getting things together, no one would remember to eat. So, please, help yourself to some appetizers and so that you can 'be pleasant'." Ezra grinned, laughing good-heartedly as he extended the tray towards Cameron, insisting she took a bite before the party began.

Jupiter Babineaux
Jupiter sat on her bed watching her roommate Leandra get ready with mild interest. The two may be rather different personality and socially wise, but Juju greatly appreciated her roomie's sense of fashion. Everything she wore seemed to make her look even more gorgeous than Jupiter originally thought possible, but Lea had changed her mind on that front. Her eyes skimmed the pale blue dress Leas was wearing in admiration, although the moment was short-lived as her thoughts were drawn to the reason why her roommate was wearing the silk dress...

The 6th and 5th year prefects decided to throw a fun little ball in the Great Hall! Jupiter could feel herself cringing at just the thought of it. Socially events were her shortcoming. Jupiter had a track record of embarrassing herself whether it was with her clumsy tendencies when in public, or with her socially ineptness, they never ended well for her. Not to mention, that large groups or crowds of people left her heart racing and her breathing coming out in wisps at the slightest of incident.

"Oh Jupiter don't worry it'll be swell, I promise! Uh...sorry, I couldn't help that... Would you like me to help you pick an outfit?" Jupiter looked up at Lea in alarm before letting out a wry laugh in response, "Why don't you read my mind and tell me?" She looked at herself in the mirror shaking her head once she realized what she head said so insensitively and looked back to Lea, her cheeks heating up in embarassment. "Okay, please ignore what I just said. That was rude," She sighed standing up and walking over to her roommate with an apologetic smile. "I'm just being melodramatic. Things probably won't be as bad as I'm psyching myself out into thinking they will be; I always expect the worst, if I'm honest." She looked down at her hands as she continued speaking in a much more timid voice. "Uh.. Thanks for being so considerate, Lea, and I would love for you to pick out an outfit for me. If it's no inconvenience to you."

Preston Walker
Preston watched her roommate with an emotion somwehere between awe-struck and utterly lost. To be frank, she didn't know which dress looked good. She wasn't the most "fashion concious." All she could do was tell you if a girl looked pretty, and what they were wearing was never really the issue there. "Um. Well the black one looked nice. It was simple....I guess. And the red one....that's pretty too?" She felt bad because she was really no help at all...and who was she to tell a girl what looked good on her body and what didn't? You would think after four years of rooming together, Aria would have figured out she was no help at all at this sort of thing....

"Why don't you just look at the dresses? Apart from yourself? Which dress do you like better? And then think about which one makes you feel more confident. Confidence boosts attractiveness more than anything else." She shrugged, then leaned back against the wall. She was sitting cross-legged on her bed, waiting for Aria since Theresa was already down in the Great Hall preparing for the evening. She really didn't feel like walking down alone.

A large grin broke out on Omar's face when he saw Emerson. She looked absolutely stunning, though, he thought she looked stunning in pretty much anything. He had immediately stood when she entered the room. He wouldn't be considered anything less than a gentleman, and gentlemen should always stand when a lady entered the room. His grin turned quickly into a loud laugh at her compliment. "Thank you, I shall pride myself on looking quite 'wow' then." He approached her and took on of her hands in his and placed a gentle kiss on it before looking up at her and smiling, his bright blue eyes lighting up. "You look very wow yourself." He chuckled again and winked before standing at his full height. "Shall we head down then?"

Nashmia Hadid
Nashmia had been relatively quiet while Amelia and Daghda had been chatting, doing her makeup for that night's festivites. She liked her roommates, really, but she didn't really enjoy the frivolous chatter about boys and how each one of them might have looked, or whether a muggle fad was cute on them or not. Wasn't her cup of tea. So, instead, she charmed one of her earrings to play music that only she could hear, and she silently jammed out to some of her favorite muggle bands.

As soon as they left, however, she powered down the music and changed into her dress. It was then that Galilahi woke up, surprising her ever so slightly, but she laughed good-naturedly. "I was just going to let you sleep, Gal. I thought you needed it. Though you could have asked me to wake you instead of charming your pillow. It hasn't started yet, we've got a good fifteen minutes. I'm surprised Daghda didn't wait any longer-- she's usually one for a dramatic entrance." She shrugged her shoulders and searched her belongings for a silver comb to hold her hair up with while Galilahi got ready. She did laugh when Gal spoke to her reflection in the mirror, it wasn't a new habit, but Nashmia found it charming all the same. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's do this!

Philomena Alexopoulos
Phil had waited til the last possible mintue to don her dress for the Gala. She hated wearing them, quite frankly, and she wasn't about to wear it for any longer than she had to. Still, she wanted to look nice. Last thing she needed was for the wizard half of her family to hate her even more, so she would put up with it. At least attending her uncle's parties had given her enough knowledge on how to dress herself. Still, she managed to wear something that wasn't quite revealing, she didn't really need anyattention from anyone tonight. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone outside of those she normally talked to. Then again, she never really was anyway, so maybe this day wasn't so different after all. Heh. Tell that to Favager's face and see if her cold smile metled or not.

Phil laughed to herself. It was amazing really. The entire student body seemed divided on Seraphine. Either they hated her or they worshiped and adored her. It was ridiculous. On the contrary, Phil was kind of in the middle. She certainly didn't hate her, but thinking awful things about her was almost therapeutic and more than humorous.

She strode through the doors to the great hall, easily avoiding Vasilisa and the Doherty boy. She really didn't want to put up with witnessing whatever flirting could possibly be happening. Instead, she made a beeline for her best friend and roommate, Cam. Cam happened to be talking to a fellow fifth year Hufflepuff, Ezra. Phil was neutral about Ezra. Sometimes he was too happy for her taste, but she would put up with it. She sauntered up beside them and offered a smile that wasn't necessarily real. "Hey guys." Her eyes studied the smorgasboard laid out in front of them and she hummed happily before grabbing what looked to be a cookie and biting into it. "Hey these are pretty good. You make these, Ezra?"

Emerson Albrecht
Emerson found Omar's smile utterly contagious and she was rendered powerless against a grin of her own. As he planted a kiss upon her hand, her heart quickened nervously, much to her chagrin. She seldom found herself in situations that rendered her without a semblance of self-assurance. She was so accustomed to being seen as "one of the guys" that she forgot what it was like to be seen as something more. Maybe that was why she had always appreciated the way he treated her like a lady, no matter how she appeared.

"You're too much, but I thank you kindly," she mused with a laugh. "So, uh, yeah, let's get going." Feeling a bit more bold, she slipped her arm into his and guided them both out of the Gryffindor Common Room and towards the direction of the Great Hall.

"Hey, you wanna know this best part about this dress?" she inquired in a hushed tone. An impish smirk played on her lips. "It's got pockets."

Konstantina Ibsen
One might be asking themselves just how a Slytherin female had found herself in the Gryffindor Boy's Dormitories. Knowing Konstantina, it was either intimidation or seduction. But she was going to leave that up to the imagination. (Actually, it was first one and then the other. To actually get into the common room, she flirted with a seventh-year Gryffindor girl she hooked up with after the sorting feast a week before. To get into the boy's dorms? That took a minuscule amount of intimidation. And now she found herself opening up the door that belonged to the room of Nikolai Dragomir. This is not the first time it had happened, and nor would it be the last. And she couldn't care less what his roommates thought of it. Instead, she happily marched on in, ignoring any protests that may have sounded off, and flopped herself onto his bed. "You ready, yet, Ulvi?" She looked over, and sure enough, tucked underneath his pillow laid the stuffed bear he so haphazardly hid, and Koni couldn't help but smile at the sight of it. Though she said nothing. She would wait til a different time to terrorize him that much.

If anything, it showed that she was just as interested in him as he was in her. He just hoped this night went well. "Pockets? No way! I know my sister would kill for a dress that had pockets!" He chuckled, thinking of Nashmia and just how excited she got whenever mundane things were made a little better. "This opens up a whole realm of possibilities! What are you going to keep in them? Surely not your hands? Because I'm hoping you'll dance with me, and dancing with me while your hands are in your pockets would prove to be quite difficult. So perhaps you'll steal some food? Hide it away for later?" A charming grin lit his features to let her know he was only being playful. He figured it would make the walk more enjoyable. That, and, it was a date, so making conversation was key.

Calvin Wade
Just a few minutes before the party, Calvin had been with his owl, Poca. She had brought back a letter from home. Bud, his grandfather, was doing well. Still acting like a kid even though he was nearing his seventies. Russ was also good. He was enjoying spending time with Mal and everyone missed him and yada yada yada. It was rough being a transfer. He'd done it with another two people from Ilvermorny. Somehow they had managed it during their third year, and everything went great. Except for one fact. He missed his family desperately. He missed Mal hugging him and stealing his food. He missed Russ teasing him. Actually, he could still go for a little less than that. He missed his trucks that he could work on fixing and building up and selling them for profit to some muggles.

He wiped an involuntary tear off his face and sighed before petting Poca along the spot on her face just above her beak. He would write later when he was in better spirits. Right now he had a mandatory party to attend. He made a face at the thought of it, thinking that parties were much more Russ's thing and he really couldn't be bothered.

Still, he found himself inside the great hall, unimpressed with his surroundings, having no one to talk to. So, he sauntered over to a table in a corner and sat, lost in his thoughts.

Varvara Pendragon
Varvara Pendragon had been waiting outside dorm RB500 for exactly a quarter of an hour. She would have withdrawn had it not been for her talkative twin on the other side of the door. Aleksei had a severe disregard for time. She could now hear him stumbling all over his dorm , likely attempting to piece together an appropriate last - minute outfit. Contrary to Aleksei , Varvara was characteristically prepared. The woman donned a dark navy blue pantsuit , clutch , simple black heels and her blonde hair was slicked back from her face.

Once the door finally swung open , Aleksei emerged with a rather dishevelled appearance. His curly hair was unkempt and his clothing was particularly disordered. 'Your tie is backward,' she stated , promptly noticing the abnormality. She tucked her clutch under her arm and swiftly adjusted his tie and askew collar.

Having neatened Aleksei's outfit , Varvara accompanied him as they made their way to the Banquet hall. As the pair walked alongside one another , she was quick to note that Aleksei continued to adjust his blazer. It was obvious to the witch that he did not wish to wear it , however , she was pleased that he had made the effort - he was not a man who was entirely comfortable with formal wear. Instinctively , Varvara held her hand out to him as they continued to approach the hall. Without exchanging a word , Aleksei slipped off his blazer and handed the piece of clothing over to his sister which she promptly stowed into her clutch. The undetectable extension charm , illegal for private use , however Varvara was as attentive to rules as Aleksei was to time.

The woman entered the hall just before her brother , surveying her current company. It appeared that her older brother , Dmitri , and dear sister , Arwen , were yet to arrive. It was highly likely that Varvara would remain at Aleksei's side until the conclusion of the Gala , although this would have been easier to achieve if he was able to stay still. Aleksei had immediately wandered in the direction of the buffet table , neglecting to inform Varvara. 'Predictable,' she sighed and walked after the boy , her heels clacking against the floor as she did so.

'What? I didn't have lunch?' Aleksei replied and spun round , proceeding to walk backward. Unfortunately , the boy had failed to have noticed his undone shoelace and it wasn't long until he tripped and fell back onto the ground. If it were Varvara , the woman would have immediately rose to her feet - however Aleksei was the kind to remain on the floor , laughing at his own idiocy. She hurried over to him , 'I apologise for this nuisance,' she glanced over at the boy who was sat alone at the table her brother had fallen before , pulling Aleksei up from the ground.

Francesca Simmons
As was usual when in her dormitory in the presence of her dorm mates, Francesca sat at her desk with her nose buried in a book. She truly never knew what to say to the other girls despite having roomed with them for five years. Really she did not know how to speak to most people, most specially other Slytherins who dismissed her for her blood lineage. Not all did so of course, but the vast majority still had hang ups about muggleborns like her.

Francesca's light brown eyes scanned the pages of the book she knew so well: One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore. Truly she was not reading the book, because the presence of a boy who's name she purposely neglected to remember was quite distracting. He and her roommate Erika were discussing such juvenile pursuits as spiking the punch at the welcome gala with alcohol, as if such beverages were needed to have fun. They then proceeded with mindless chatter about how beautiful her other roommate Mette was. Francesca sighed inwardly, even she had to admit that Mette Strand was beautiful. If only she was.

Francesca made a show of shutting the textbook loudly and rising from her desk in a distinctly imperious way. "I'm beginning to think you live here. I think you'll find that this is a girls' dormitory," She said snippily as she strode to the door, "And do you really think the prefects didn't think of preparing for something as juvenile as spiking the punch?" With that, she left the room, sniffily and headed for the library where she always found solace. She was sure nobody would really care or notice if she did not attend some silly gala anyway. The girl had few, if any friends because people found her 'difficult'.

Axelle Beaumont
Axelle was lounging on Jesse's bed in a pair of sweatpants. Her mother had been appalled when she'd come home with them - well Clarisse was appalled whenever her daughter brought home items of muggle culture - and had promptly forbidden her from wearing them in her sight. Of course Axelle had responded by buying a pair for every day of the week and wearing practically nothing else the whole holiday.
Axelle found herself in a remarkably good mood before the party and was in the middle of outlining the rules of Strip Quidditch, a game of her and Ella's own creation, when Koni burst in and immediately occupied Nikolai's bed. Axelle sat up on her elbows when she saw the Slytherin girl. She had always viewed Koni as somewhat of an alternate universe version of herself.
“Kon,” she grinned in greeting, “I have the idea of the decade, perhaps even the century. Strip quidditch.” She announced theatrically. “You in?” Leaning over to grab her wand she now tapped it against the side of her leg with a flourish and her deeply casual attire transformed into a sleek all-black tuxedo. She ran her hands through her hair to tame it slightly before turning to Jesse.
“Ready to go?”

Clodagh O'Sullivan
Clodagh smoothed the skirt to her dress, wanting to make sure it looked perfect. She knew it was unnecessary. She was also well aware that she was doing it only to stall on time. She didn't want to go inside the Great Hall. She knew Ainsle was in there and she really didn't want to see him. She had half a mind to stay in her room for the night, but she knew Carmen was diligent and observant and would certainly notice her absence. So, there she stood, right outside the doors to the Greath Hall, but off to the side a bit. She didn't want to be seen.

One deep breath. Two. Three. Fo-- okay this stalling nonsense was getting ridiculous. She was just going to have to grow up and enter the room. So, she smoothed her hair and held her chin high before entering the room, and once she did...her eyes landed directly on Ainsley, and her fake smile fell from her face. She felt the pinprick of tears trying to manifest, but she immediately looked away- anywhere but to where he was. Instead, she meandered around the very edges of the Great Hall, focused on the black velvet curtains that lined it.

Calvin Wade
Calvin had been lost in his own thoughts when out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone fall. Immediately his gaze was torn upwards to he could see if the guy was alright. He must be, considering he immediatly started laughing at himself. The corners of Cal's mouth turned up every so slightly into a wry smile, remembering several occassions in which Russ did the exact same thing. Sometimes, when Russ first would do it, Cal would be utterly embarrassed, but it hadn't been long before Cal started laughing right along with him when it happened. Still, he supposed laughing in this situation would be innapropriate, so he tried to remove the smile on his face...without much success. He could only hope that no one suspected he was laughing at him.

He decided to inquire about whether or not the guy was alright, just double checking in case he was an utter lunatic and was laughing from his own pain. "Are you okay? That was quite a fall." He stood up to help right as a girl, who looked remarkably like the guy on the floor, scurried over to help him up. What's more, is that the apologized to him. "Hey, actually, it's totally cool. My cousin's a lot like that actually. I'm pretty used to it." He shrugged and gave a pretty awkward laugh. "I mostly just want to know if he's okay."
