Dear Fifth and Sixth Year Students,

On the 8th day of September, please join your fellow students at the Welcome Gala. This is a first-time event that the Prefects have planned for you. We will be providing music and food and you are not required to wear dress robes. This is, however, a required event. We look forward to seeing you there!

    Sincerely,
the Fifth and Sixth Year Prefects

Seraphine Favager
The Gala preperations were set. Really, the Banquet Hall looked much different after the prefects went at it. Of course, that meant that all of them had to suffer each other's presence for an insufferable amount of time, but it was a small price to pay for what would promise to be a fun evening to end an interesting first week of school. Seraphine had to hand it to Carmen, it was a pretty genius idea. Not that she would ever admit that out loud to a Gryffindor. She rolled her eyes to herself before scanning the perimeter to make sure everything was in its place.

It was lovely, really, simple circular tables set around the sides, decked out in blacks and purples. The low-lit candles made the room seem a little dimmer. Of course, it wasn't in the heat of the party yet. Guests wouldn't arrive for at least another 15 minutes. Which meant that Sera would have to use magic to prepare her ensemble for the evening. It was the one thing she would rather not use magic for, but ah well. With a flick of the wand and a mumbled spell, her outfit changed. A short, soft-pink dress that revealed her arms and legs: her two largest assets....no scratch that...everything about her was an asset. Still, her legs looked really long, especially when topped off with a pair of white heels that matched the pearls around her neck. She looked elegant and wonderful: as usual, and no one should be surprised. She was the Ice Queen after all.

Midas Doherty
Having to spend such a ridiculous amount of time with a mostly incompetent group of people would usually have been enough to set Midas Doherty on edge, however seeing as the idea of this ball was Carmen's and the Great Hall did look quite lavish, he was in fairly high spirits. The young man simply stood leaning against a small round table surveying the room and the work he and the others had done. Hopefully this ball wasn't a complete bore. He would be the first to admit, he enjoyed a good formal gathering with an attractive guest list.

As the hustle and bustle of the prefects died down and Midas' gaze scanned the room, his eyes settled on an attractive Slytherin girl, the self-proclaimed Ice Queen, Seraphine Favager. More precisely, his gaze had roamed to her incredible legs which were now on display in her formal dress, A small smile played on his lips as attention drifted to her face for a moment and then promptly switched to another part of the room. Deciding it was about time he changed into his formal suit, Midas flicked his wand casually and his smart monochrome suit appeared on his person. Straightening his tie, he swiftly moved toward the large mahogany doors, from which soon the other fifth and sixth years would enter.

Ainsley McKay
Ainsley still wasn't sure how he had gotten wrapped up in this whole prefect gig, but he was already over it. Not only, did he have to assist in set up for the special events that the school decided to throw, he had to do hall monitoring, and "set an example." The only upsides he could see so far, were being able to take away points from other students —albeit only from his house, giving students detention, and using the prefects' bathroom; none of it seemed worth it now as he finished setting up.

Ainsley let out a huff, leaning his elbow against the table, and taking a moment to actually look at all the other prefects. His gaze trailed over to the two girls running the show. One he recognized instantly from his own house, she was bossy, a perfectionist, insanely gorgeous, and her name was not one to elude him. Seraphine was someone that Ainsley could not stand, and he didn't try to hide it. With her micromanaging and haughty demeanor towards her fellow students, he sometimes suspected that the girl had some deep rooted issues that she needed to get worked out. He looked over to the other 6th year girl, one who he liked much more, Carmen was much more pleasant in comparison to Seraphine, and Ainsley actually followed her direction without being an ass about it. She was a pureblood and smart, but she wasn't in your face about it like others were. Speaking of which, was that Doherty he saw a few feet away? Jesus christ, Favager and Doherty...

With Ainsley's luck, he'll end up popping a vein before the year is out from unhealthy levels irritation from listening to the two, because no doubt they'll be in everyone's ears trying to run everything.

He drummed his fingers looking around at the Great Hall boredly. Only a little bit longer and he'd get to see Clo, at least. Ainsley looked down at his shorts and t-shirts for a moment in thought. Should he change his outfit now? Hmm... He glanced briefly at Doherty and Favager changing into the dress wear before giving a little shrug.

No, he didn't feel like it just yet.

Amelia Ravenhurst
Amelia lay stretched out like a starfish on her four poster, holding a crumpled letter in front of her and scanning it briefly. The brunette had snorted in amusement the first time she had read it after having it dropped into her lap by her owl. A glorified party disguised as a 'welcome gala' was clearly just a way for those pious prefects to throw a party. If it had been her their would definitely be no airs and graces. The butterbeer would be flowing and the Weird Sisters would be playing on the wireless...loud!

"You know Didi, I still find this a bit laughable. I mean do they really think giving a party a fancy name makes it any less of a student house party? Ah well, s'pose I might as well look nice..." With an exaggerated sigh, she set the letter down and sat up setting out a mid-length emerald green backless dress out on her bed, waving her wand and making it appear on her. Green had always been her go-to colour. "Wonder if any of those fifth year blokes are anything to look at. Gotta be able to have a conversation mind you," she mused as she brushed out her hair, "We both know I'm into the older guys though!"

Carmen Medina
Carmen had stepped out of the Banquet Hall breifly to chat with Professor McGonagall, a woman whom she deeply admired. It was a simple enough chat. She was basically just promising that since the prefects were hosting, they would also be chaperoning, and they would keep anything too serious from happened. McGonagall seemed pleased enough, since a small smile swept her features before she went to retire for the night.

A large smile on her face, Carmen crept back into the Banquet Hall, slipping silently through one of the large wooden doors and almost running into- was that Midas? If it could be possible, an even larger grin spread across her features. "Midas! Hi! Oh my, do you look dapper! Perhaps it's time for me to change. The time has really gotten away from me." She chuckled a bit then before pulling out her wand. Her ensemble was a red dress with black lace, for why wouldn't he want to show off her house colors? That, and red was the color that looked second best on her. Purple was the first, but she didn't want to match the decor.

Speaking of, she scanned the room with her brown eyes and brightened.
"Oh! You've all done such a good job! This is positively exciting! And Seraphine has certainly worked her charm. Everything looks so elegant. Anyway! I've got some other things to see to! Have fun!"
And just like that she whisked herself away, stopping briefly to wave at Ainsley, that is. He was a Slytherin fifth year, and seemed like nice enough of a boy. She was glad to have him as a fellow prefect!

Vasilisa Ivashkov

This is it! Everything was all set, decors, tables and the chairs, the prefects certainly took care of it perfectly. Even the food was ready as well and being taken care of by the helpful house elves in the kitchen. The colors crimson, green, yellow and blue filled the banquet hall like the usual. But aside from the banners of the great Houses, the prefects managed to add something else. Vasilisa took one last gaze of the banquet hall, and yes, she definitely believes that the night will be perfect and lovely. A smile filled her heart shaped face, she even flashed a genuine smile when she happen to caught the eye of her fellow prefect, Seraphine Favager, who happens to be in the same room. She knew that she won't smile back or won't care, that's just she is but Vasilisa was too happy and excited to notice it at the moment. Another smile was flashed when she happen to saw another Slytherin prefect, Ainsley Mckay.

Seeing that everything is all good, Vasilisa practically pranced her way towards the large mahogany doors of the banquet room wanting to greet her fellow students first hand. She did however stopped a couple of feet before fishing out her want and tapping lightly the dress that she was wearing. It was a shimmer at first before it changed into a silver colored knee length cocktail dress. The tube style of her dress accentuates her slender body. Even her brunette hair that is cascading down in a perfect ringlets, compliments her attire.

Satisfied, Vasilisa continued walking to the door only to find another prefect, a young man named Midas Doherty, from Gryffindor. "Hello." Vasilisa smiled at him, "Everything is all lovely. Oh, I hope everyone will have fun." She added with a dreamy sigh before gazing to the direction where students might appear at any moment

Leandra Goldstein
Leandra hummed a tune to herself in a soft, sweet voice as she carefully applied her rose pink lipgloss to her plump lips in the mirror next to her four poster. She loved the view they had from Ravenclaw tower. The entire Hogwarts grounds could be seen from up here. The blonde had only began her time at Hogwarts a year ago. Before that she had lived her life in Salem and had attended Ilvermorny. Getting used to the dismal Scottish weather had been a little hard, but by now Hogwarts felt like home. Indeed it was.

Though she tried to block them out, the thoughts of her roommate Jupiter kept fading in and out of her head like a fuzzy radio signal. Leandra frowned. By now hearing the thoughts of others was normal, but still a little inconvenient for her. Jupiter was nervous about going to the ball.

"Oh Jupiter don't worry it'll be swell, I promise!" she said, without the girl having spoken up. "Uh...sorry, I couldn't help that..." she added apologetically, turning to Jupiter. "Would you like me to help you pick an outfit?"

Lea was now wearing a shimmering pale blue chiffon and silk floor length dress that made her look like an elven princess. She had been able to snag a good deal for it on Oxford Street at the muggle store called Chanel. Muggles really had good taste in her opinion. "Perhaps Ravenclaw colours!"

Niklaus Vogl
Niklaus liked being a prefect. He liked the idea of using the prefects bathroom. Of making sure things went smoothly. Of hall monitering. What he didn't particularly care for, was this. This did not fall in the job description of a prefect. This was new. This is not at all what he wanted, and here he was, changing the layout of of the Banquet Hall with just a flick of the wand, and getting nagged by the one, the only Seraphine Favager. Honestly, the things she had him correcting were the small insignificant things that no one would noticeonce they got a few butterbeers in their system. None of this was important and he just wanted to go back to his room and get ahead on his reading for the next week.

Seraphine's shrill voice sounded behind him, telling him to lift the black velvet curtains that surrounded the room just an inch higher because she swore she saw some light coming in. He rolled his eyes. Yet another thing that didn't matter, since it was going to be completely dark in just a few moments anyhow, but whatever. He did as he was told. He just hoped someone nicer and less shrill would come speak to him soon.

Daghda Mahoney
Daghda was sitting in a chair in front of their floor length mirror in their dorms, much to the distaste of one of their other roommates, Nashmia. But Nashmia was used to it at this point, and just conjured up a mirror for herself. Ever so gently, she pressed on the ring that was set in her nose, a new muggle fad that she just had to take part in. But now it seemed like it efinitely looked cuter on them than on her. She, of course, was also listening to everything that Amelia said. "Oh, I totally get you, Mia. Knowing some of the prefects we have, this party is going to be dreadfully dull...as for the boys...perhaps they will look alright. I'm not terribly interested." That was a lie, she was just content on trying to keep an eye out for an available quiddith captain. Shame most of them were girls this year. That meant only one boy was left...well. She better make herself presentble enough.

Waving her wand, a dress came flying at her from her closet and she changed herself into it. A very tight-fitting white and silver dress. Black heels to match. Boy did she look stunning! She checked herself out in the mirror, before smiling and turning around. But it was a fraction of a second before her smile fell. "You don't think the nose piercing looks awful, do you?"

Theresa al-Basrah
Her blue-green eyes sparkled under the light of the sun rays as they scanned around the Banquet Hall. A wide smile appeared on her lips as she couldn't help but smile. They did it! All the hard work, the planning, and organizing definitely paid off. It was stressful, however, with Carmen and Seraphine's handiwork and skills, they were able to get it all together in the nick of time.

Taking a deep breathe, Theresa took in the feeling of success. However, she knew it was only just the beginning and took notice of the last minute touches of the Banquet Hall. Making her way over towards Seraphine when she was finished changing, Theresa greeted her, "Everything is looking incredible. And it is all thanks to both you and Carmen." She smiled towards the woman, giving her a small wave as she turned in a different direction. Theresa never had any qualms with anyone, ignoring rumors of people before actually meeting them. At the same time, the only person who actually did slightly intimidate her was actually her own housemate: Midas.

It wasn't as if he was obnoxious or even ungentlemen-like to her, it was just something inside her wanted her to prove herself to not only him but her. She didn't want to act a fool around him and so she was a little intimidated by his smarts and mind. Looking over towards Carmen, Theresa smiled towards her if she was ever able to get her attention as well. Theresa admired her housemate and couldn't help but feel blessed to have someone like her in her house.

Deciding it was time for her to change, Theresa took out her wand and with a flick, her outfit changed. Her dress was a modest gold cocktail dress with nude heels. Her hair was placed up elegantly in a bun and Theresa couldn't help but giggle slightly, feeling more confident in herself than ever. Once she was finished, Theresa looked around the Banquet once more, waiting for the other students to arrive. However, at the corner of her eye, she saw a young man, Niklaus, sitting by himself. He seemed a little weary and Theresa couldn't help but slightly be concerned but didn't blame the young gentlemen. Walking towards him, Theresa made herself known with by clearing her throat slightly, "You aren't thinking of dipping out before the Banquet even starts, are you?" She teased him lightly.

Seraphine Favager
Sera was more than aware of the looks she was receiving from Midas, and had to admit, she felt rather pleased with herself. Of course, she didn't need his appraisal to feel pretty. She knew she was absolutely stunning. Still, it was nice to catch the eye of such an influential person- even if he was a Gryffindor. Smoothing out her dress, she almost moved to approach him, but he was soon joined by Carmen, and soon after that, a Hufflepuff girl that she didn't know the name of. Veronica? No that wasn't it. It was something foreign. Oh well, she would learn it if it ever became important.

What really shocked her was the compliment she received from the fifth year Gryffindor prefect. "Oh! Thank you so much. It really does mean a lot that you say so. And of course, it couldn't have been done without people like you who are just as excited as Carmen and I are!" She offered a precious little smile, her perfect white teeth showing for a brief moment before she turned away to take care of something else. Of course, she knew the party could have been pulled together by her and Carmen alone, but it was nice to keep those who offered fruitful compliments close to her.

Cameron Leighton
Cam had never liked dark, or dimly lit areas. She hated having to strain her eyes to find someone, or having to use a flashlight to find her things when they feel in a dark corner or under the table. She just didn't function well. So she doubted this little dance would be very fun for her. Even so, she continued to hang up and fix the curtains on the windows with her wand, making sure everything looked the way that Seraphine and Carmen wanted it. She'd rather not get on someone's bad side...

Once she was done, she headed over to the food table where she saw one of her fellow housemates, Ezra. He looked to be enjoying himself much more than Cameron was. Maybe he would be able to transfer that energy to her so that this event could be a little more bearable. Her eyes were already starting to ache from this lighting.

"Hey Ezra! I see you've taken command of the food table?" She gave a genuine smile seeing lots of evidence that Ezra had put himself in charge of supplying the food for the dance. Much like she hoped, just being around Ezra seemed to be a mood booster, even when he hadn't spoken back to her yet. "Honestly, I'm glad you're in charge of the food. You're such an amazing cook and baker, and I need something to keep me pleasant once this thing starts raging on." She sighed, crossing her arms. "I was really hoping to go to bed early today, but prefect duties are already demanding my attention."

Seeing everyone beginning to change into the party wear, Cameron waved her wand over her casual clothes so that she was wearing a black one shoulder party dress. "Black to hide any mishaps or spills that may happen tonight." She mused taking her hair out of a bun, and sliding her hair tie onto her wrist.

Alaia Vega
Alaia perused the Great Hall carefully, checking that everything was perfect. Seraphine’s voice cut through her concentration like a knife. A couple feet away she was instructing Niklaus to correct the curtains and Alaia rolled her eyes. Sure, she admitted as she moved a table over two inches so that the arrangement would be perfectly symmetrical, she could be a bit anal herself, but that was just because she wanted everything to be absolutely perfect. Sometimes she got the sense that Seraphine ordered people around purely for the pleasure it gave her. Alaia was more the type to follow along behind everyone and correct their work ever so slightly as they went. She didn’t doubt that it was irritating for others but had long since decided that they would have to deal with it. No one cared the way she did about perfection and precision, her two favourite words. She used her wand to fix a tear in the corner of a tablecloth.

Now, satisfied that she had run her eye over every inch of the Great Hall, she flicked her wand over herself to change into a deep burgundy dress with thin straps, a sweetheart neckline and a flowing satin skirt that fell to her knees. All that was left to do was wait, and for Alaia that was her least favourite part.

Erika Estes
Although, school parties were never as exciting or as fun as one hoped they would be, Erika was actually looking forward to the little shindig between the 5th and 6th years. Hot guys, Hot girls. Older guys, Older girls. If there was one thing she was sure about, she would always make her own fun. The prefects had definitely made a mistake if they didn't have teachers supervising...

"Say Dax," She turned away from the mirror she had been using to inspect her outfit to address her friend. "in a room full of teenagers, how likely is it that someone will try and spike the drinks?" The topic was a bit risque what with which one of her roommates was still in the room. Dax probably wouldn't give a shit about what was said in front of Fran, but Erika was never sure about the other girl, and most the time she tried to be careful about what she said in front of her because she didn't want the girl getting too many ideas about them, or telling their business to others; specifically their pranks and ploys. They'd been rooming together for 5 years, and Erika still didn't know much about her. "I mean, in my opinion, I think it has to happen. It's like an unspoken teenager rule. Also, if you had to bet on someone to spike the punch, who do you think would do it?"

She took one last look over her outfit, Erika didn't want to wear a dress or a skirt, so instead she opted for a sweater blouse and high-waisted shorts. She looked cute, if she did say so herself. She did her make-up and everything and was feeling quite accomplished.

"So are you going to do your creepy staring at Mette thing, tonight?" Erika turned around giving her friend a wicked grin as she continued, "You know, you really should ask her out sometime soon, Daxie, because you're most likely freaking her out with how much you stare at her on a day-to-day basis... I doubt the girl can handle your Edward Cullen stare much longer."

Maddox Davis
A grin spread across Maddox's face, because he instantly knew what Erika was getting at. Throwing a sly look in Francesca's direction, her couldn't help but to chuckle. Erika had never really seemed to open up around her roommates. Granted, one of them, the beautifule Mette Strand, was a prefect now. So he wasn't surprised.

He lay in his position, sprawled out on Erika's bed. This wasn't the first time in the girl's dorms. He was just surprised he hadn't been caught yet. Or turned in. Lucky him. That just meant he got to be surrounded by girls for the last five years. He and Erika had become fast friends on their train ride into their first year. Much to their pleasure, they were placed in the same house, and had been inseparable since! "Well, I would imagine those chances are about ten in ten. It is a party, after all. Full of teens. And you and I both know half those prefects don't give a shit, and half of the other half is total pushovers. So there's at the very least a three in four chance of getting away with it. So, say a guy knew where to get a hold of a stash. I would say...he and his buddies are the most likely to do it." He sent a surreptitious wink towards Erika, then yawned.

His yawn, however, was cut short by her next comment. "Excuse me? Edward Cullen stare? Are you like? Ten?" He rolled his eyes, but his falsified anger was soon gone, replaced by his signature goofy grin. "Mette's a prefect. There's no way I would get away with anything if I was dating her. I was thinking about trying for that Ravenclaw girl. What's her name? Dilara? She's pretty cute. And she seems a lot more chill than Mette. Wait, why are you trying to push me out there all of a sudden? Tired of me already? Thinking a girlfriend might distract me enough so you can escape?" He didn't actually beleive that, he was merely playing around.

Niklaus Vogl
Finally, the shrill voice of Seraphine left him. Oh, he had been so ready for that to happen. Really, there was such a thing as being too thorough, but he didn't think that was Seraphine's problem. He thought her problem was more like...she enjoyed the sound of her own voice way too much. Damn Banshee. Now, he was enjoying thepeace and quiet of doing absolutely nothing but waiting.

But then, he heard a small sound behind him: someone clearing their throat, and he couldn't resist his curiosity, so he turned around to see who it was. The Gryffindor fifth year, Theresa alBasrah. "Oh, hello." He greeted her politely, having no real issue with her.

"Me? Oh, likely not. The bansh-" A slight discoloration of his cheeks suggested that he was quite embarrassed about what he almost said. Nevertheless, he cleared his throat and started again. "I hardly believe that Seraphine would allow that, Miss alBasrah. So, it seems, I am stuck here until the night is over." He shrugged simply and leaned back against the table behind him, only to misjudge its location by a couple of inches and barely stop himself from falling directly on his ass. Pairing that motion with an awkward laugh that lasted merely a fraction of a second, he waved his hand in the air. It was almost as if he was trying to shove past this awkward moment. "And, really, I think I might... enjoy myself. So. Me leaving? Perish the thought!"

Gareth Roden-Smith
Gareth gave a hearty chuckle as he and a small army of other Hufflepuffs made their way through the halls and down the infinite staircases to the Great Hall for the Welcome Gala. One of his friends, Marcus jostled him teasingly, "Here's to another good season for the Hufflepuff team! Congrats on making captain mate!"

Gareth gave a modest shrug, though inside he was quite proud of the news he had received this morning from Madam Hooch. It had surprised him. He knew he was a fairly good keeper, but never had he thought his peers respected him quite so much.
"Thanks Marc. I'm surprised really." The ghost of the Fat Friar waved to him cheerily as he floated passed.

"Hello there Mr Smith! You're looking smart in your suit! Have a good time!" Gareth nodded and continued on his way, surrounded by his chattering friends. He was not the most talkative of his group, but it seemed he was the de facto leader.

The Great Hall almost took his breath away once they had entered. Those prefects had done an excellent job and he thought it polite to tell them so. He decided to make the rounds throughout the night and give his appreciation. For now, however. It was food time! He separated from his friends and headed for the food table.

Eva Malone
Eva was seriously beginning to question her choice in guys. Now for the third time in a row she had been left for another girl and surprisingly the pain of it didn't numb after the first time. Go figure.

Fortunately, Eva had devised a plan. Instead of letting it get to her, she would simply ignore it and take fate into her own hands. If people only wanted her for her beauty, then that's what she would give them, but on her own terms. No more getting chased. She would be the chaser. Hmm, this wizard lingo is getting easier, she thought to herself as she dressed in a floor length, figure hugging black dress and donned her hair in a beautiful up-do with a few strands left to frame her face and piercing grey eyes.

It had taken Eva an unusually long amount of time to come to terms with the wizarding world, her parents even more so. Finally, after five years it had begun to really sink in, and not a moment too late considering she would be gone in two years time and had to figure out exactly what to do with her life. Pushing such obtrusive thoughts from her head, she applied her dark red lipstick before heading off to the Great Hall hoping to spot her best friend Mateo who was prefect for her rival house Gryffindor. She knew they had to set up the whole thing and so she quickly spotted him. putting on a beaming smile as she approached him, and trying extra hard not to show how she really felt. She would be extra effervescent.

"Mattie!" she exclaimed, kissing his cheek briefly, "Oh my god you guys did such a great job on this room! Some point tonight I hope I can tempt you away from your boring prefect duties to have some real fun and dance with me!"

Caleb Hawthorne
Caleb was absently tapping his fingers on top on the table repeatedly. He was done finishing the side that he was supposed to decorate and fix. Now, bored out of his wits, he can’t believe that he’s still in the banquet hall instead of planning his another trip to the Restricted Area of the school library. Damn the rules, he can’t exactly just asked random teacher to sign a paper to let him borrow the book that he wanted to read. Caleb sometimes questions the regulations of their library, he even remembered that he used to ask that to Clarissa, “I mean, why bother having the copy of the book if they’re going to lock it up?” He knows the answer but his twin sister always has to point it out. “You can borrow it, but you just need someone to sign the library slip.” Caleb often follows her answer with the series ‘why’s’ before getting a scary look from Clarissa that would result to him sneaking into the night, and breaking in to the library.

His reverie was cut off upon hearing someone, a girl, barking orders. Caleb raised an eyebrow and look around. Oh. Of course. Seraphine bossing someone around is not exactly new. “Poor kid.” Caleb said quietly. Checking his watch, he figured out that he ought to change as well. Waving his wand, his casual wear was changed into a navy blue suit. Standing up, he adjusted his tie and decided to make a final sweep of the place, just to make sure that everything’s okay when he stumbled upon Alaia, his fellow Ravenclaw prefect.

Caleb let out a soft chuckle before sauntering besides her. Like always, the expression of his friend is as tense and as calculative as ever. “Al. Sweet, sweet Al.” he started before placing his arm around her shoulders. “Need I remind you that we are in a party? And not in the study hall reading about some Goblin rebellion.” Patting her arm, he added “I mean, the decors alone and the dresses you’re currently wearing are a couple of signs that you should enjoy.” Caleb stepped away before grabbing her hand and forcing her to twirl around, “Relax. Smile and stop worrying. Oh, you look lovely by the way.” He added with a grin.

Jessamine Rose

Jessamine Rose did not choose the prefect life; in fact, she had been strongly urged to take up the position by Professor Flitwick. He had somehow convinced her that the responsibility may become a learning a experience for her, a way to really work on improving her ability to communicate. As Jessa arranged the utensils so that they remained perfectly parallel to one another, she was not so sure that was to be the case, for being a prefect seemed to be more of a test of her patience and OCD rather than a way to assist her social capabilities. Nevertheless, Jessa was not one to shirk her responsibilities.

Her hazel eyes flicked in the direction of her sixth year prefect, Alaia Vega, wondering what her next assignment would be before the other students arrived for the event. Noting that her senior seemed to have changed her clothes, Jessa figured that all prefects had completed their duties and were free to do as they pleased.

As free as the rules allow, she thought to herself ironically. A subtle smirk played on her pixie-like features.

With a gentle twirling motion of her wand, streaks of white glitter surrounded her person, transforming her work clothes to a blush-toned, two piece gown, reaching mid-thigh, with matching, pointed stilettos. A light dusting of rouge had adorned her cheeks, and a coating of gloss had painted her lips, giving her some semblance of presentability.

"Our job is complete, yes?" she inquired in Alaia's direction. "I confess I don't really understand what is expected of these... gatherings..."

Despite the beauty of the banquet hall at the hands of the prefects and the impending unity it would bring amongst the students of Hogwarts, Jessa was not one to really comprehend things that involved forced social interactions. However, that did not mean that she didn't like them; truly, they fascinated her, she just lacked the emotional capacity to not analyze every little component.

She blinked when she realized that Caleb had joined Alaia, going so far as to physically engage her, which caused Jessa to crinkle her nose in annoyance. She was trying to establish a dialogue after all, though she refrained from making a comment.

Omar Hadid
The tormenting he had received from his sister, Nashmia, was just to much. Yes, he had a date with a girl to the party. But that didn't mean he deserved the relentless teasing from his sister. And when Nashmia started, she didn't stop. Ever. So it didn't help that this particular girl had caught his interest during their fourth year at Hogwarts, and he had never really had the courage to ask her out. But, as soon as they got the letters for the Gala, he went and asked her. Her name was Emerson, and she really was something.

Currently, he was sitting in the Gryffindor common room, waiting for her to finish up getting ready so that they could head down together. He was tapping his foot nervously, but otherwise, he seemed to be keeping his cool. And he looked rather handsome if he had to say so himself. Sure, Nashmia helped him a little but, but he had never been too terrible at choosing his own clothes. Currently, he was wearing a fitted navy suit along with a crisp white shirt. But his favorite art about the ensemble was his red tie. He had always felt partial to the color red...thank goodness he was a Gryffindor!

Amelia Ravenhurst
Amelia let out a slightly derisive yet good natured laugh when Daghda claimed she wasn't interested in the boys. Amelia knew all too well of her desire to date a quidditch captain. It was bizarre to her. Amelia loved quidditch but would probably never dream of dating a quidditch player.

"Not interested? Yeah right Didi. What happened to your quidditch captain fetish? I hear that nice Hufflepuff, Gareth is one. I always liked him. Modest and down to earth you know."

Amelia gave a whistle when seeing her friend's choice of dress. "Ooh right fancy!" she complimented, adding, "And don't worry, the nose piercing looks fine! My mum would probably die if I ever came home with one though." Amelia's gaze drifted over to her bedside table where notes for her next textbook were laying. A lot of times, she was tempted to forgo social gatherings in order to write about Salem Witch trials or Goblin Rebellions. It was her passion and obsession, wizarding history. It helped that it also happened to be her living at the tender age of sixteen. Unfortunately she couldn't skip this particular party, and in a way she didn't want to. It was a nice gesture after all.

"Ready, Didi?" she asked, already heading out either way.

Tomás Acuna

Tomás was always partial to any occasion that allowed him to dress in something other than his robes. There was always something undeniably empowering about wearing a well-made suit, especially when it was black in color. Everything about his outfit was dark in tone, from the pants to the jacket and the charcoal colored dress shirt that followed the sculpted edges of his torso. He had decided not to wear a tie, however, settling for the top two buttons of his twill shirt to be undone. To have the collar fully fastened and topped off with a tie was rather excessive in his eyes. And maybe, it was even a bit restrictive. All things considered, he thought that he looked pretty damn good. He only hoped that his fellow students shared his sentiments.

Though of course they will, he mused to himself.

Tomás cracked a lopsided grin, finding his own hubris to be a personal source of comedy. It was pretty obvious that he was in one of his provocative moods, one that alternated between wanting to mess with someone and wanting to mess around with someone.

He scanned the room, admiring the many attractive individuals gathered together one room. That's what social gatherings seemed to be for, after all. His dark eyes settled on Seraphine Favager, unable to resist the lines of her exposed legs. Unafraid to give credit where credit was due, he had to admit that she had done a wonderful job in contributing to the festivities. The Hall had never looked as beautiful as it did in that moment. Perhaps, the prefects did have a greater calling than punishing their fellow classmates.

As if on cue, he caught the sight of the fifth year prefect in the corner of his eye, looking as miserable as ever. He couldn't help, but seat himself beside his junior.

"Now, Ainsley, I hope you don't intend to be a complete wall flower all night. People might find you boring," he instigated with a smirk.

Daghda Mahoney
"Oh, believe me, Mum was none too happy when I came home with this. And my Grandmother? Oh it was simply scandelous! The only person who complimented me on it, besides you of course, was Ady. I tell you, everyone in my family is insane, but she turned out sweet as a bell." Despite being the same age as Adelaide, Daghda tended to speak about her as if she were far younger, preferring to play up the aspect that she was the girl's aunt. But, that was just Daghda for you, more dramatic than she should be!

"You look positively amazing by the way! I'm so jealous that you look that good in green. Hell, I'm the epitome of Irish, but as soon as I wear that color it washes me out. I thank my lucky stars I'm not a Slytherin. Could you imagine? I would look awful every day of my life and we just can't have that, can we?" Anyone listening in on them would think she wasn't being serious, ut she definitely was. She was just that sort of person. "As for Gareth...well. He seems nice enough. Maybe I'll give it a go.
Flirt with him just a touch. If it doesn't work out with him, maybe I will try my hand at just a couple of the normal Quidditch players. Not as exciting, but I guess it's the same idea. Alright Mia, let's go liven up that party. I'm sure they'll need us on that dance floor. Otherwise, it's going to positively dull!"
With one last look in the mirror, and a smile and a wink at her reflection, she headed out the door with Amelia.
