Congratulation! You have been accepted to attend Winding Oaks' Equine Academy! Here you will be able to continue you education as well as compete with your for legged friend. Those who make it in the top rank for competitions also get scholarships to pay for this lavish academy. So make sure you win or you will be paying a fortune to attend.
This year is a special year. This year there will be a large competition held between all the top equine schools for each discipline. The winner receives a large monetary prize as well as a spot on the national equestrian team. The winner of the eventing competition also earns a chance to ride Winding Oaks' Headmistress's eventing horse for one show season.

It is the beginning of the new year at Winding Oaks'. All the students had already arrived and if they hadn't their horses definitely had, after all it was first come first serve for spots at the on campus barns. There were many hacking their horses whether it be to enjoy the nice weather out or new students letting their horses see the facility for the first time. There was excitement in the air due to the normal end of the year competition and the large one between other schools.

Out in one of the jumper arenas there was a flash gold jumping over a large oxer knocking down the second pole. "Alec! She is jumping too soon on the wider jumps! You need to get her move back on her haunches to collect her self better. Even your breathing and then put pressure in your legs right before the jump. That way she knows not to go too early. " A female on a dapple grey thoroughbred stood in the middle of the arena. It was none other than the Headmistress herself on her horse giving her son his last private lesson. Once the semester began he would take group lessons with the rest of the students. Alec brought Echo down to a walk and joined his mother. "Let me show you." Suzy picked up her reins and moved Lyric forward. The thoroughbred instantly picked up a collected trot and then canter heading towards the large oxer. As they got closer you could physically see the mare move back on her haunches collecting her self more, each stride stronger than the last, before jumping over the jump flawlessly. "Now do it just like that." Alec groaned. Sometimes he hated lessons with his mother for she was always a perfectionist. He picked his reins and he did the jump again, this time going better with only Echo's hind foot clipping the second railing. With that Suzy ended the lesson. She hopped up Lyric and handed her to Leo who was watching on the sidelines holding his helmet. "Cool her off and then put her away." With that the Headmistress headed off toward the barn to change. Normally she would do it herself but she was busy preparing for the new year.

Alec walked Echo up to Lyric and Leo but kept his distance for he knew that Echo would just try and nip at the other mare's but like a typical boob. "Care to hack the field together, Leo?" Alec asked the graduate student. Said student easily hopped onto Lyric before walking off. "I thought that was a given." And with that the two males headed outside the arena to hack around.

"I know, I know," Devin told Trick, leading the little dun pony through the familiar stables. "You're sick of planes."

Trick, head up and ears pricked as they wound their way from the barn to his pasture, declined to answer. Instead he jigged a little next to Devin, clearly ready to stretch his legs after the trans-Atlantic flight from Boston to Stockholm, and then the long drive to the school. Devin was glad Trick traveled well, and gladder still that the pony clearly remembered Winding Oaks, and the way to his field.

"You'd walk yourself back if I let you, huh?" he asked, rubbing one of the pony's black tipped ears as they walked. Trick pulled his head up and huffed in annoyance. "Oh, I'm so sorry, your Majesty." Trick did a little half-rear as they got to the gate. "Easy, idiot," Devin said, opening the gate and leading the eager pony through. He shut the gate behind him and turned Trick to face it before taking the lead off. Trick spun and galloped off, bucking and crow-hopping as he went.

"If you pull something, I'm gonna be pissed!" Devin called after his pony, hanging the lead up by the gate.

At the entrance of the huge, intimidating riding academy held a rumbling truck with a trailer attached to the end of it. The trailer held an impatient, confused, and rather nervous stallion. Inside the passenger seat of the truck was seated a young teenage girl, her hands trembled as she spoke to her mother nervously, “Mom..What if I don’t make any friends, I don’t want to be known as the no-friend loser at school.” Her mother answered her with a sweet and comforting smile, “Jadah, I know you very well and you are most definitely not the type of person to make no friends, I’m sure that even today you’ll make at least one friend.” The young teenage girl, Jadah, sighed and gave her mother a huge hug and a quick kiss on the cheek before opening the truck door and stepping out, taking in her first impressions of the academy.

She instantly obtained great vibes from the school and a few of her nerves and worries faded away. She decided she was ready to take on anything and everything that the school threw at her. Jadah remembered Hades and quickly ran to the trailer, she walked to the front of it and lifted the latch, it was burning hot from the bright and deathly hot sun so she threw her hand back and held it to her chest.
“Ow! Why is that so hot?” She whimpered to herself before lifting the latch as fast as she could to avoid burning herself. Hades rear end was facing her so she smiled and made a clicking noise with her tounge. Hades whipped around and noticed it was his human, he let out a huge, loud neigh that made Jadah’s ears hurt for a second. “Hey! Calm down boy.” She laughed and reached her hand out to pet him. The stallion, Hades, in the trailer was already fully tacked up as Jadah had planned on taking him around to explore campus.

The drivers side window rolled down and her mother’s voice hollered out to the both of them, “Hurry up there okay? And don’t forget your suitcase!” Jadah heard her mother’s voice and instantly picked up her speed as she knew her mother was very impatient and most times quick to temper when it came to getting things done quickly. Jadah pulled the reins down from Hades head and lead him out and down the trailer onto the smooth, hot pavement. Jadah threw the reins back over Hades head and put her foot into the stirrup, swinging herself over and sitting comfortably in the saddle. She remembered her suitcase and pulled Hades reins in the direction of the truck, she leaned close to the back of the truck and grabbed her suitcase, it was a bit heavy but she put it in an area of the saddle where it wouldn’t fall out and waved to her mom goodbye as the truck sped away. A wave of nerves washed over her as she remembered she had to meet with the headmistress. She then remembered that the email she received said that she could meet with the headmistress anytime this week. “I guess I can wait to meet with her, I should probably see my dorm room and then explore.” She gave her stallion a slight kick indicating for him to trot and they moved forward, heading towards the dormitories. After about 10 minutes or so she reached the dormitories and hopped off Hades, knowing he usually stayed put and didn’t wander she just left Hades to stand in front of her dorm. “I’m pretty sure this is my dorm, I’ll check the paper I printed out again just to double check.” She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and checked to see if her dorm room was actually the one she was standing in front of, it was and so she reached her hand out and opened the dorm room door, stepping inside and taking her first looks.

The dorm had colorful walls, exact to the ones outside. Her dorm room was a orange color and so the walls inside were as well. It smelled clean and not musty like cheap colleges and or riding schools. It had few decorations, a living room, and a bathroom and bedroom. Jadah could definetly make due with this, it seemed like a tiny apartment! She walked back outside and took her suitcase off her horses saddle, walking back inside she placed the suitcase on the floor and walked back out, shutting the door behind her. Hades stood where she left him and turned his head to look at Jadah. She stepped back into the stirrups and swung over again, this time she turned him around so he’d face where they came and she gave him a nice, strong kick. Hades cantered forward, admiring things as she pulled his reins in the direction of the arenas, seeing teens and adults riding around and enjoying the nice weather, she made sure to stay clear of horses as she knew Hades would act a fool. As she cantered around she noticed two boys who caught her eye for some reason, something inside her urged her to talk to them and so she kicked Hades harder and he galloped towards the front of the arena, he entered the arena and Jadah made sure he stayed clear of the two boys horses as she carefully and cautiously approached them. She watched as they hopped on their horses and padded away. She sighed as she watched them walk away,
“Well, there goes that.”

I’m so sorry this was extremely long and I might have gotten carried away to the point where it didn’t make sense so I apologize if its confusing and I also apologize if I did this completely and utterly wrong >~<

Brynn Williams and Griffin Williams
Griffin was so excited to be home. He had been a counselor at an equestrian summer camp to try to make some money. He knew money was tight right now even though his dad wouldn’t say anything. He stopped at his dad’s apartment to put some things away. He had already put put his stuff in his apartment. He tacked up

Brynn was taking pictures of the scenery on her camera. She was so nervous about her first year here. Of course she was familiar with the campus since her father worked here but it’s different being a student here. At least her brother would be out there to help her out. She hadn’t moved in yet. Griffin sneaked up behind her.”Boo!”

Brynn screamed, “AHH! Oh my god! You scared me Griff!” She hit his shoulder.

He laughed, “Sorry Brynnie I couldn’t resist.” Brynn rolled her eyes but gave him a big hug. She had missed him over the summer.

She turned her camera to her bother and got his side profile. “Hey no paparazzi!” Griffin pushed the camera away.

“Duh, you’re biologically obligated to be my model. Let’s go on the trail near here before we have to go.” Brynn looked at the pictures. They headed to the stables where their father was prepping for the students horses.

Their father looked up."Griffin don't get into too much trouble this year. And have a good first year Brynn." Griffin smirked he would try not to get into too much trouble.

Griffin and Brynn were riding on the trail at a slow pace. Griffin looked at his sister. “Are you nervous for your first year?”

“A little. There’s a lot of good riders Griff. I wish you did English. It would make me feel so much better if I knew someone.”Brynn bit her lip.

Griffin nudged her shoulder, ”You worry too much. You’ll make friends in English. You’re a great rider and you have a pretty cool brother. Race ya back to the stables B.”

“UNFAIR GRIFF YOU GOT A HEAD START!” Brynn and Griffin raced back to the stables from the trail they had been on riding towards the stables. They saw Alec and Leo and another girl they didn’t recognize. Griffin and Brynn waved to them. Artemis was heading towards the Western Area.

Griffin chuckled, “Missed it didn’t you, alright we’ll do it once before we cool down.” Griffin gave Artemis a kick and started round the barrels. “

Brynn was watching from on top of Orion. It was obvious that her brother loved it.

There was one thing Paisley Halt lived in life and that was a grand entrance and god did Paisley knew how to give you one. “Papa, there’s the entrance.” Paisley spoke to her father in their mother tongue as he nodded and begun to turn the steering wheel of the ‘chevaux d'or’ which was the multi million horse truck that her father was driving, it even included a living space as the pair had just driven all the way from Lyon, France. The drive was long and winding as Paisley saw a couple students already out on their horses but that is when she spotted a familiar horse and sat upon that horse was her good friend Alec Rosewood. Paisley asked her mother to slow the large horse truck down as Paisley opened the window “Alec!” She spoke her French accent a lot thicker then he last remembered due to returning to France for the summer “I thought I’d better catch you now just in case you forgot to say hello.” Paisley says still teasing him about their arguement they had last year. “Ah Leo! We’ll all have to have a catch up at dinner!” Paisley says excitedly as she smiles before shutting the window.

Paisley was more then excited as the horse truck finally reached the barn and Suzy Rosewood came out to greet her father, those two had been friends since their Olympic days. “Suzy! How have you been?” Paisley says reaching in kissing each of Suzy’s cheeks in a typical French greeting. Paisley carefully listened to her response before slipping away to take care of Max who needed a good leg stretching after being stuck in the truck for hours upon end. Paisley opened up the back of the truck to revel her gorgeous boy “We’re finally here Max, let’s get you in a barn first and then I’ll turn you out okay.” Paisley says untying the knot that secured him to the truck as Paisley lead the large horse into the stables where she was happy to see that her usual spot was free. After placing Max inside and writing ‘Max’ on the small chalkboard by his stable Paisley begun to unload his tack, brush boxes and a few of Max’s favourite toys that he liked to play with.

“I’ll go and say goodbye to Papa then we can head out to the fields.” Paisley says gently scratching Max’s nose before placing a kiss on it. She jogged out of the stable and hugged her father tightly “Have another good year, I’ll see you at Christmas.” Her father spoke to her with a great big hug and a kiss on the top of her head. “See you at Christmas!” She spoke in her mother tongue as she watched her father get into the large truck, she watched the truck until it was no longer in sight and that’s when she turned into the stable and grabbed Max’s lead rope. “Let’s let you stretch your legs!” Paisley says buckling you the halter and leading him out.

Paisley was walking towards the field when she spotted someone standing at the gate, she’d seen his face around but wasn’t particularly familiar with him. Probably the only reason Paisley remembered his face was because she thought he was cute at one point. “Bonjour.” Paisley says forgetting that she would have to start speaking English again. “Does your horse fancy a field mate?” Paisley says with a warm smile and she unhinges the gate and heads into the field gently stroking Max’s neck before letting him off the lead rope and the gelding immediately went galloping off into the field to go introduce himself to the other horse who seemed just as excited as Max to be stretching their legs. “Seems both our horses are a little fed up with small spaces.” Paisley says to the boy with a little chuckle as she walked over to him “I’m Paisley, what’s your name?” She asked and after he told her his name she air kissed both his cheeks, it just didn’t feel polite to Paisley not to greet someone like that.

Chiyo, Kerry and Puzzle were in one of the dressage arenas, the instructor watching Kerry taking her piebald gelding around the arena in a collected trot. Lessons had not begun yet, of course, but Chiyo had overheard a remark made by the new student earlier in the day, and had decided to give her and her mount an assessment before the term-time schedule started to limit the available time.

“Ah. yes. Come over to the center here.” When Kerry had halted- four square, Chiyo noted with approval- she looked the horse over. “He has a lot of power, here, in his hindquarters.” She gestured with one small, seemingly-delicate hand. “He steps under very well, and his balance is excellent. That is a good start towards collection. But, here... ” she set a gentle hand on the horse’s shoulder. “He has a naturally high neck carriage, I think, yes?”

The Welsh girl aboard Puzzle nodded. “He’s half Welsh Cob, see.”

“Ah. Yes. I see.” Chiyo bobbed her head, and moved her hand again, cupping Puzzle’s jaw and testing his response to a gentle pull at it. “You have tried to make his head carriage look right, but I think it is where you need to do the most work now. He has perhaps a thick neck, only a little, at the throat, and a high neck also. This means he finds it hard to drop his head and soften his jaw, which we need for true collection. We want him to offer that to you. If we try to pull him into the right head position, it is, ah, counter-productive. We must do the opposite. We must soften our hands. Make them as light as feathers. Then he cannot lean on them and must carry his head for himself. We must teach him that does not mean it is time to go faster, I think, yes?”

Kerry pulled a face as the instructor picked up on a key point. “He does like to be barging on ahead,” she agreed.

“So! We have something we can work on. I think we will use lateral flexion first. An exercise we can practice is to ride along the fence and flex his head towards the outside for a few beats every ten strides. That will begin to help him soften and also to stay at a steady pace. Remember to spend equal time on both reins and do not hold the flexion more than two or three strides. Squeeze and release, squeeze and release, softly, softly. It is enough to begin with to spend no more than five minutes each schooling session.”

Chiyo pulled out her phone and started tapping in some notes, not just the advice she had just given but also her thoughts on the pair’s strengths and weaknesses and on several other exercises she felt would help this horse and rider. She would either be assigning those herself, or would hand her notes to whichever instructor Kerry ended up training with. “Cool him down now, and then you may put him away, or turn him out, unless you want to take him for a ride.”

“Thanks, Doctor Ichikawa!” The young Welsh woman gave the instructor a beaming grin, and moved to do just that while Chiyo headed back towards the main buildings. After cooling down at a walk, Kerry let herself out of the school and rode around the perimeter for a bit, looking at the facilities and picking out other students also riding. Her path took her towards what seemed to be an arena set up with oil drums, but without poles to make them into jumps. Someone was riding around them, while a second mounted figure watched. She took Puzzle closer to get a better look.

“Hello! I’m Kerry. This is Puzzle. What are they doing?” she asked when she was close enough, directing the question to the girl watching from the back of a bay... Kerry double-checked... stallion? Her accent was immediately obvious, lilting and musical despite the bluntness of the words.

After the boys left she gave her stallion a solid kick as he darted out of the arena. She slowed Hades to a canter and watched the different riders, some experienced some new. She was reaching the supposed western arena and noticed barrels set up. She felt Hades tense as if he was going to run a barrel. “Hey boy, you’re alright, we aren’t gonna run the barrels..yet.” She gave Hades a pat on his neck and saw she was approaching two girls on horseback. She pulled the reins hard so Hades would stop. One of the girls was speaking to another, “Hello, I’m Keery. This is Puzzle. What are they doing?” She waited for the other girls response to speak, “Hi! I’m new here..is this the western arena?” As she spoke a loud snort came out from Hades nostrils, she gave him a soft rub and spoke to him, “Hades, we aren’t close to the gir-“ She was cut off when Hades galloped forward, almost slamming into the girls as he galloped into the western arena, not acknowledging any of the other riders as he ran the barrels, Jadah clung to his mane for dear life. He surprisingly ran the barrels perfectly, except for making the last one wobble as his side banged against it. He galloped as fast as he could to the chute and then slowed to a trot. Jadah let out a huge breath but her expression was solemn and angry. “Hades! You could have thrown me! I love running barrels but I was NOT prepared for that!” She let out a huge sigh and kicked him slightly, Hades walked proudly out of the chute and back toward the girls.

Sean left Sammy in her box and led Dora out into the daylight, headed for the turnout paddocks. He looped one arm over her withers, leaning into her contentedly as they ambled along together and squinting a little into the sunshine. “We’ll have a whole regiment of new freshmen to break in, Dee,” he told her. “Maybe more for the polo team! That would be useful.” Most polo academies concentrated on the sport and did not include a range of educational subjects, so most people looking for a college or university education did not think to specialise in polo and most looking to train for polo did not think to look at a college education at the same time. Sean often worried that there would be too few polo students to form two full teams for practice.

“Maybe we’ll be able to persuade some of the students to try it for the first time. You’d show them what to do, right girl?” The affection was audible in his voice; he had no doubts she’d behave herself perfectly even for a total beginner to the sport. Casting his eye over the paddocks he spotted a couple of geldings turned out already, and two figures near the gate that were perhaps their riders. If so, they’d know if the horses would be fine with a mare added into the mix.

“Hullo-ullo,” he called out as he approached, recognition coming to him as to the identity of one of the figures; he’d been at the Academy plenty long enough to know Paisley by sight. “Lovely day today! Bonjour, Mademoiselle Halt. Have we met?” he added, turning to the other figure, ready to hold out a hand in greeting if it turned out they were strangers to each other. “Sean Guinness, and this delightful lady is Luchadora. I was hoping the boys there would be happy to have her join them?”

Brynn Williams and Griffin Williams

Brynn looked away from her brother Brynn picked up on her accent.“My brother’s barrel racing. It’s western. “ Brynn was usually shy with new people but this girl seems nice.

Brynn glanced at Kerry’s saddle. She must ride English as well” I’m Brynn. This is Orion. That’s my older brother Griffin and his mare Artemis. “ They saw another girl race past the barrels.

Griffin finished the last barrel with Artemis and turned towards where the girls were standing. Artemis did good. He couldn't wait to work with Leo to improve his time this year. He saw another girl race by. She was pretty good. Griffin didn’t recognize her.

He brought Artemis towards the girls. He introduced himself to Kerry, “I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I would have definitely remembered.” He gave her a wink. Brynn rolled her eyes she was used to Griffin flirting with almost every girl.

As the proud horse and girl walked out from the chute towards them. Griffin chuckled ”Looks like your horse was excited to run the barrels.”

Griffin looked towards the last barrel. He knew pretty much all the barrel-racers so he assumed this girl must be a freshman like Brynn. “The last one’s a toughie. I haven’t seen you in lessons before.”

Jadah looked down as Hades walked out of the chute but her head lifted when she heard a males voice. She looked at the person who was speaking to her, Jadah smiled and pulled Hades reins so he’d stop in front of the man, “He definetly was excited, It scared me though cause he’s never acted out like that before but all is well now.” She gave her stallion a pat on the neck but as her hand brushed his coat she felt he was very, very tense. Her heart dropped when she saw she was a bit too close to the horse the man was riding. Hades whipped around and bucked the males horse straight in the head. Hades turned to face forward again and reared to let out a huge, very ferocious neigh. Jadah patted him and calmed him down when he lowered, she didn’t even want to look at the man anymore, knowing her own horse had possibly injured his horse.

She mustered up the courage to speak , “I’m so sorry, Hades is really aggressive with other horses and I can pay vet bills if he injured your horse I just..I probably should have told you that before even saying anything else..” Jadah looked down at the ground again, she felt a mix of guilt and anger as she wished that Hades could just be okay with other horses. She waited for the mans response and hoped that it would be a good one.

Paisley Halt
Paisley was watching Max already trying to make a new friend with the new pony and it made Paisley chuckle to herself "He's been a bit lonely during the drive over." Paisley says to Devin as she smiled at him. Paisley was about to start heading back to the dorms when she heard a thick Irish accent and she knew exactly who that belonged too. "Bonjour Sean." Paisley says with a warm smile "We've never officially been introduced but it's hard not to know the gorgeous Irish polo player is." Paisley says taking his hand and shaking it before placing 2 air kisses on each of his cheeks. He asked about turning out his horse into the field with Devin's and Paisley's horses in "Go for it. I think Max is in need of some more company." Paisley says as she walks over to the gorgeous bay mare and gently stroked her neck. "Aren't you a beauty." Paisley spoke to the horse who was calm. Paisley stepped away so that Sean could let her go but Paisley's eyes were trained on Sean as she took him in head to toe, he certainly was extremely attractive and a polo player which was basically striking gold in the polo world. "I don't know about you two but I'm starving!" Paisley says to the 2 boys who she stood in the field with. She looked down at her watch seeing that their was some time before dinner which would give her time to find her dorm and start unpacking before dinner. "Any body heading back with me?" Paisley asks the pair of them and she looped her arm through Max's halter and walked back through the gate and up the path to the dorms.

Paisley made a quick stop by the barn to hang up Max's by his stall before she headed towards the dorms. "Paisley Halt." Paisley spoke to the women who was handing out dorm room keys "Welcome back Miss Halt, you'll be in a single room this year." The lady spoke and Paisley smiled as last year she had the most awful roommate. Paisley took the key and grabbed her 2 full suitcases that she'd left just outside registration as she headed up to her room and immediately laid down on the soft double bed. After a few moments of relaxation Paisley begun to unpack her 2 large suitcases and then stored them under her bed, one of the main things she'd bought with her Winding Oaks roll after roll of support tape. At the beginning of summer she had a pretty nasty fall which ended up in a cracked hip, the doctors said that it would heal on it's own but the impatient Paisley got back on the horse too early and now 2 months later was still wearing support tape to help with the recovery. Once she'd finally unpacked the young women changed from her equestrian clothes into a casual summer dress before she shoved her feet into her white trainers, finally grabbing a pair of sunglasses Paisley decided to head over to her normal hang out spot which was on the front school lawn.

Paisley's support tape was peaking out the end of her dress as she sat down on the lawn and stretched out in the warm sun as she played some music from her phone.

"Sure," Devin said, helping Paisley with the gate while she turned her horse out. He was a handsome thing, a big golden buckskin, and Devin grinned as his pony trotted over to sniff noses with the bigger horse. "I'm Devin," he said, and would have offered his hand, but she greeted him with air kisses, which made his cheeks burn.

He was saved from having to feel too much like his personal space had been invaded by the arrival of Sean and his bay mare. "My boy likes company," he said. He repeated his name for Sean and accepted the handshake, a little amused that he'd never properly met either of them before. This is what he got for hiding in the art building or the middle of the woods most of the time, he figured. "Polo, huh? I was particularly good at whacking my pony and myself when I tried it." He'd grown up watching polo on the Cape, but watching and appreciating it and actually playing were two very different things.

Kerry quickly reined back a few steps to a safer distance and looked ready to dismount if needed, her expression suddenly making her look older and more adult than her nineteen years. She couldn't see from the angle she was at whether the black horse had actually made contact with Griffin's Appaloosa, and she too looked towards him. "I can hold her while you dismount if you need me to," she told him, "or hold Orion if you need Brynn."

"That's great, thank you both," Sean said, not moving yet as Paisley was greeting his horse. Dora blew softly through her black silken nose as the young French woman stroked her, accepting the praise without equine comment. Sean, on the other hand, looked delighted. "She's really something, isn't she? Max is looking very well too," he added, gazing over at the two geldings as he slipped Dora's headcollar off and let her trot away to greet the other horses. He did a bit of a double take, then turned back to Devin. "...that isn't the pony who turned all the taps on in the feed rooms last year and flooded the stable block, is he?"

*

Sean shrugged and grinned at Devin's recollections of attempts at polo. "They made me practice sitting on a wooden saddle-horse before they let me take the mallet anywhere near a real pony," he commented. "Come over to the polo training area some time, he added, looking between Devin and Paisley to make clear the invitation included both of them, "you can have a go if you like."

*

"I've got to go top up my other horse's hay and water," Sean told Paisley when she mentioned food. "Catch you after that and we can go eat together. Devin? You coming too?"

*

It didn't take Sean long to see to Sammy. He was already unpacked- he had the same accommodations as last year so it had not taken him long to get himself settled. He decided to freshen up with a quick shower and a change of clothes, then headed out again in search of company and sustenance. His path soon took him around to the front of the school, and the lawn there, where a number of students were relaxing in the sun. He paused at the edge of the lawn, looking to see if he recognised any of them.

Brynn gasped in shock. Griffin started soothing Artemis. From Artemis' reaction it wan

Griffin turned to Kerry, " You mind holding her while I dismount?" Griffin dismounts and gently holds Artemis, "Lemme see girl." Artemis is stomping her hooves. Griffin inspects her. He doesn't see immediate harm. He sighs a breath of relief, "She's okay." He thanks Kerry. He decides to walk her back.

He turns to Jadah, "It's fine. Don't worry too much. Pretty girls should never look so stressed. I'm gonna head back. I'll see you all at dinner."

Brynn decides to stay back with Kerry and Jadah. She knows that Artemis just needs some time. Griffin leads Artemis back to the stables and checks again. He decides he should ask the vet just to check tomorrow. He had some spare money from his summer job. He didn't want to ask his dad.

Brynn reassures Jadah, "Totally not your fault. And Artemis is fine. So what dorms are you guys in" Brynn hoped that they were close to her. She had roommates but hadn't met them yet. She also had to unpack before dinner.

Once he was sure that Artemis was okay he headed down to the front lawn seeing Paisley and grinned. He jumped next to her. "Well if it isn't my favorite French princess. Break any hearts over the summer." He knew Paisley from past years and she was fun to be around. They had a bit of a flirting competition.

He pulled his sweater off and handed it to her.

Jadah sighed a bigger relief than she ever had knowing Artemis and Griffin were fine. Hades had cooled down but Jadah still made sure he kept his distance from the mare. “I’m sorry again, but yeah, I’ll see you at dinner!” A smile had surprisingly made its way to Jadah’s face and she tried to hide it. She watched as Griffin left and then turned her attention to Brynn, “Oh! I’m in dorm 202, which one are you in?” She waited for her response and felt Hades stomach rumble beneath her, she swung down from him and reached into her pocket, searching for a lost horse treat she could feed him. She couldn’t find anything and frowned.

“I’ll have to feed you when we get back, sorry buddy.”

Alec wanted to say he had a good cool down with Leo but that wasn't particularly cool. Echo, being the mare she was, caused a fuss the whole time being next to Lyric. The only time she didn't is when she heard Paisley call out Alec's name. Echo's ears perked up at her riders name and she whinnied at the girl, clearly excited to see her. Alec smiled and waved back at her. He missed his friend. They were only really apart during the summer. Before Alec could even say anything Leo gave him the "go on" gester with his head. Leo knew Alec really wanted to go see Paisley so he split from them to go finish walking Lyric out.

"I'll see you later tonight Leo!" With that Alec turned Echo around. The mare moved faster the closer they got to the barn. Echo was staying at the main barn with some of the other 'special' people's horses. After untacking, he rinsed her off and put her back in her freshly cleaned stall. The mare immediately went and started eating the hay that was in the hay net in the corner. "Someone will be out later to let you out." Echo ignored him as she munched happily.

He ran back to his apartment, which for once he actually shared with someone, and quickly showered and changed into some ripped jeans, a plain white shirt, and sandals. (because why not?) His roommate wasn't in which is why he didn't ask if he wanted to join him.

Alec knew exactly where he would find Paisley, after all he knew the girl well. She loved sitting in the school lawn. Why? He wasn't too sure. Alec maneuvered around the other students, nodding to some when they said hello to him. When he finally spotted Paisley a genuine smiled formed on his face. "Paisley!" He called out and headed towards her. After a second he noticed she was talking to
Griffin who had given her his jacket. Alec tsked and placed his hands in his jean pockets as he walked up to them. "How's that injury treating you?" He then turned to Griffin. "I hope you had a good summer Griffin."

Paisley Halt
The young women was having a lovely time, relaxing in the sun and softly singing along to her music but that was all interrupted by mischievous and extremely flirtatious Griffin. He jumped next to her making her jump slightly but when Paisley lifted up her sunglasses and saw who it was a playful smile creeped onto her face as she playfully slapped his arm. “It’s been one of the usual summers, turning down models, Olympic swimmers and rockstars. You know, the usual.” Paisley played along “How was your summer cowboy? Did you spend it riding horses or girls?” Paisley says catching the sweater. Before she put it on she gently sniffed it too see if it smelt of sweat before she pulled it over her skinny frame. “So have you been cow boy? Grown anymore brain cells recently?” Paisley teases as she gently flicks his forehead.

the stupid conversation was cut short when Paisley heard Alec calling for her, she immediately sat up “Alec!” She said excitedly watching the silver haired boy walk over. “Don’t you look handsome!” Paisley says looking at Alec from head to toe admiring his slender physique, he looked like extremely elegant in Paisley’s opinion. Upon Alec mentioning her injury Paisley immediately looked down to her leg and pulled her dress down to cover the support tape. “It’s slowly getting better.” Paisley says focusing all her attention on Alec for a few moments.

As Alec sat down with the pair Paisley turned towards him slightly “How was your summer? Hope it wasn’t too boring without me here too keep you entertained.” Paisley says gently smiling at him. In all honesty Paisley had missed all her friends but she had missed Alec slightly more then the others. The French women leant back and rested on her elbows the keep making the most of sun which seemed to be beginning to set “Where did you get those jeans from? They really suit you.” Paisley says to Alec as she pulled off Griffin’s jumper and use it as a pillow instead, she wanted an even tan after all.

"Sure is," Devin said brightly. Trick was bouncing between the two larger horses like a crow harassing a pair of eagles, and Devin was sure one or the other would get fed up with him before long. "I'm sure we've learned nothing and he'll cause new problems this year." Trick leaned over to nip at Dora's shoulder, and Devin shouted, "Hey! Quit it!" at him, which made Trick crow-hop and sprint off. "Behave, you goblin!"

"Maybe," Devin said, of trying polo again. "I can't have gotten worse, at least," he added.

"Yeah, I still have to unpack," Devin said, following Sean and Paisley back up the barns, after shooting a last glance at his pony. But Trick had finally settled down to graze, and seemed willing to leave his new pasturemates be.

They didn't have a stall, but Devin had enough gear to fill his own tack room, and he had to do some tetrising to make it all fit comfortably in his section. There was his grooming kit, two extra halters and leads, many fly masks, a few pairs splint and bell boots, three saddles, four bridles, breastplate, and then the unconscionable number of saddle pads. Devin frowned at a leopard print pad he didn't remember buying, not to mention packing, and pushed it back into the depths of his tack trunk. The only thing worse than unpacking Trick's stuff was unpacking his own suitcases, and he definitely needed dinner before he attempted that.

He did stop at his room first, and checked that his suitcases were there, and then decided on a shower and a change of clothes--not that anyone would object to a t-shirt covered in hay and his smelling like horse, but he was a senior, and he did want to look good--and so he wound up unpacking half his bags anyway until he found his shower stuff and an acceptable outfit, leaving everything else strewn haphazardly across his half of the little vibrantly yellow dorm. Some twenty minutes later, idly fussing with his still damp hair, Devin left wearing black moto jeans, a terrible yellow button-front shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the throat left mostly open, with a loose black tie and an unbuttoned black velvet waistcoat. and rings on nearly every finger. He took the long way through campus, through the lawn, since it was so nice out.

"And you look charming in your dress." He said in response to being called handsome. He took a seat next to her and watched as she attempted to cover her injury. Personally he didn't think it was something that really needed to be hidden. Accidents did happen when you work with 1200lbs animals. When she asked about his summer he groaned. "Mom and I were supposed to go visit family in South Korea this summer but the competition is this year and you know how Mom is about those things. Poor Echo and I hardly had a break. She doesn't want me to make her look bad." Alec sighed and plopped down in the grass, his head turned to look at Griffin. He kind of felt bad that Paisley focused her attention on him and was practically ignoring Griffin.

He then turned to look at Paisley for he was a bit confused on why she was asking about his jeans. "Paise, they are just jeans. I don't remember where I got them." Alec shifted so the he was now leaning on his elbows and facing Griffin. "How was your summer cowboy?" Alec wanted to be pleasant to him.

Griffin laughed. Paisley was by far one of the funniest people he knew. " I don't think you wanna know what I did this summer." In all honesty being a summer camp counselor was not fun. Yeah he had some one time-things with the other counselors but nothing serious.

Griffin tried to stifle his laugh when he heard Paisley compliment his jeans. He mumbled under his breath, "It's fine not like your wingman is right here. I'm just chopped liver." He had no problem with Alec and they were chill unless he hurt Paisley's feelings in that case Griffin would have to do what he needed to do.

Griffin faced Alec, "Nowhere as interesting as your summer. I taught sassy 10 year olds how to jump so they was mine. But hey money is money. Obviously it was no fun without my French Princess here." He slung his arm around Paisley watching Alec's expression.

Griffin pulled his phone out seeing the text from Brynn. "Brynn needs help moving things around in her room with her and her roommates. Save me a seat at dinner guys. Paise just return the sweater later. "

Ying Hua had just arrived at the school earlier in the day. She had meant to fly in earlier so that she could get used to the time change but unfortunately things happened and she had to delay her flight. Luckily her horses made it in a few weeks ago with her groom and they settled in nicely. She had just pack her backpack with a notebook, a Chinese-English dictionary (her English wasn't the best) a few writing utensils and a change of clothes. Ying Hua was currently standing at the edge of the lawn in front of the school. She was muttering introductions in English to practice. Her heavy accent making it sound weird.

Ying Hua clutched her backpack in her arm as she stood at the edge of the lawn in front of the school. She knew a lot of people attended but she didn't realize how many. Her luggage was getting shipped and would be here later in the day. She just didn't know where her room was and wasn't sure who to ask. Being a foreign exchange student and a freshman was not helpful in the slightest. Oh she wished she had her groom with her. He always helped her when she struggled in conversation and thus gave her more confidence. Ying Hua nervously fidgeted with the strap on her bag at she contemplated on what to do.

Jadah had lead Hades away from the girl and felt he was getting hungrier and more impatient as the seconds grew. “I know boy, I’m trying, the stable is only a few minutes from here.” Hades didn’t care all, he wanted was food and so he would stop every now and then to eat some of the few grass that laid in front of pathways. Once they had actually reached the stables Hades was panting, not from thirst but from hunger. Jadah picked up her speed and lead him quickly in and towards his stable, at the way back away from everyone else. She opened the stall door and lead him in, removing his bridle, the bit carefully slipped out, covered in drool from Hades salivating mouth.

She placed the bridle on the door of the stall and then removed his saddle and saddle pad and also placed them on the door.“Alright boy, you ready to eat?” As she spoke she left his stall and carefully closed the door behind her, skipping along towards the feed room. There were rows and rows of food bags displayed on shelves, each with names on them. Jadah read the names until she found hers and above it was Hades food, she hastily took it down and heaved it up to her chest, walking back to Hades stall. Hades was prancing about when he saw his food, he’d neigh a few times. Jadah laughed and entered the stall, filling his food bowl that was laid on the stall floor. As Hades ate she groomed him with brushes and curries. She then combed his mane and stood back while she waited for him to finish eating. Hades ate the last few pieces of grain that laid in the bottom of his bowl and lifted his head to look at Jadah. She turned her attention to him, “Ready to go on another ride boy? I want to get one last ride in before dinner.”

Jadah picked up the bridle that laid on the door and slipped the bit back into Hades mouth, she picked up the saddle pad and placed it on his back, then placing the saddle on it and tightening It so it’d be comfortable for Hades and so it wouldn’t fall down. Jadah lead Hades out by his reins and stopped at the exit of the stables, stepping into the stirrups and swinging herself over to sit elegantly in his saddle. She gave him a big kick and he galloped forward, they frolicked around, not a care in the world. They ended up reaching the entrance point of the school, “How did we get here boy?” She stopped when she saw a girl who seemed new and maybe a foreign exchange student as she didn’t seem like she was from around here. Jadah was new as well but she had arrived to the school sooner and so she knew some areas. She hopped off Hades and walked over to greet the girl, she gave her a welcoming smile and spoke, “Hi! My name’s Jadah, this is Hades, are you new here?”
( Ch3rryBlossom28 Ch3rryBlossom28 , Sorry if it didn’t make much sense, I was rushing as my friend is here.)

Paisley Halt

Paisley felt slightly embarrassed by Alex’s comment as she turned her attention back towards Griffin as a light blush flooded across her cheeks which was luckily hidden by the sun. “You teaching sassy 10 year olds, now that is something I would pay to see.” Paisley says sitting up again reaching for her phone, while she was changing the song she felt Griffin wrap an arm around her which made Paisley smirk “Already up to your old tricks cowboy?” Paisley says “You know it takes a lot more than that to get me excited.” Paisley spoke to him gently pushing his arm off her. Griffin’s phone let out a notification and the cowboy got to his feet explaining that his sister Brynn needed some help moving stuff in her dorm “Tell Brynn that I say Hello.” Paisley says watching the cowboy walk off.

Paisley looked at Alec, she felt slightly shy and unsure of what to say to him but she was Paisley Halt, she always had something to say “Since you didn’t get to go to South Korea and didn’t get much of a summer because your mum almost worked you to death.” Paisley spoke as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear “We should do something on the weekends so we have a chance to relax.” Paisley says. As much as she loved horses and being a rider sometimes you just need to have a break every once in a while. “We could go swimming in one of the creaks before the nice weather let’s up.” Paisley says leaning closer to him.

Paisley smiled at him before pulling him into a hug “I missed you Alec.” She spoke holding him tightly for a few seconds before pulling away. “My summer would of been a lot better if I stayed here, I probaly wouldn’t have even got injured.” Paisley says gently placing a hand on her injured hip. Paisley was so focused on Alec that she didn’t notice the girl on the horse or the slightly nervous looking girl just a couple of metres away from them.
