The clouded city of Willosya
The city was once a thriving kingdom on Earth. It was beautifully designed with stone and marble, and the palace sat pretty above it all. This city was home to the brightest minds the world could find. They were deeply invested in the research of the civilizations that came before them.
This set of researchers came across an Artifact that should have stayed buried beneath the city. It was a chalice, intricately designed to have a dragon curled lightly around it.
This Chalice would be immediately taken to the King, where he demanded to keep it as his own personal relic. He had his wine poured into that night at supper.
He took one sip, and felt his body seize and contort. Horns grew from his scalp, scales pooled down his skin, claws sprouted from his fingertips, and wings burst from his back in a bloody display. His body was now part Dragon.
His people feared this. They rushed outside to run from the horrendous creature they just saw be birthed. But there was no escape from this curse. Storm clouds were collecting above their heads in the sky. The rain was a million colors, glittering as it fell onto their skin.
This is what the people refer to as “The Shifting Rain”. It all happened so fast. The entire city had their bodies morph into beastly figures. Not even the children were spared. They were all turned into partly animal or beast.
The curse did not stop here. Willosya was surrounded by clouds as far as the eye could see. There was no escaping their doom, no running from this curse. They now existed in a realm outside of our current reality.

This artifact was found again, in the year of 2020. Where the Kingdom of Willosya once stood was now an average suburban city with a small community college. The only interesting class to take there was Ancient History. In this class is where the artifact is once again revealed.
The professor tells the students to come take a look at it. It is filled with water from the school’s fountain. He tells them it’s a magical concoction. He pours the water into little styrofoam cups for students brave enough (or curious enough) to take a sip.
It was supposed to be a fun way to get his students engaged in the class. Instead, he sees on the news the next morning that the handful of students that took his little styrofoam cups were now missing.
The students will awake outside the gates to Willosya. They will be met with the townspeople. The city has not really developed more than what it was before the Rain. They still live very quaint lives of fetching the water from a well or raising their livestock to feed the town.
However, the students will quickly learn that some parts of the city are completely off limits. These parts are closer to the castle, and they are tainted with darkness and shadows. This is where Darker Creatures, or the Corrupt, roam and prove to be an extreme danger to anyone in contact with them. There are also parts of the city near the outskirts that are claimed by a Rebellion. They kill these creatures on sight to “protect” the town.

The Biology
Because of the Curse, all residents are hybrids. Though many generations have passed since the first to be cursed in Willosya, their bloodlines are still tainted by animal blood. Most of the citizens feel more comfort being around people of similar species. Predators stay away from prey as a social norm.
The type of animal picked can affect personality, diet, and social interaction.
It should also be noted that all the players will be direct descendants of the people of Willosya. Some people managed to escape before the Rain, but their blood is still deeply tied with the city. When they awake in Willosya, they will take on the beast or animal form of what would have been their family's curse had they stayed.
Some of the family's also received an addition to their curse. They are closely tied to the elements and have some form of elemental ability. The King keeps most of the elementals in his guard, but some have slipped through the cracks. There are many elementals in the Rebellion, and some are average citizens that keep it hidden from both factions.
Please be mindful of what element your character will have! It cannot be overpowered, and it can't overlap with another player's. You do not need an element at all if you just want to have a more peaceful experience without all the fighting.

The Looming Threat
The current King has released a spirit poison that Corrupts his citizens. He is very controlling and does not like when his subjects disobey. He uses this poison to have full control over the citizens while also inciting fear in the ones who are not yet poison. It moves through the Kingdom slowly, but it is still a huge threat.
The Corrupt come in Three Threat Levels:
The Savages: Attack anything and everything, even each other. There is no running from these Corrupt creatures and they must be killed on sight.
The Provoked: These Corrupt only attack if something poses an immediate threat. These can be hidden from if you act fast enough. They have heightened senses and can find you if you don't run away fast enough.
The Watchers: No sense of will or life. They will stand and watch without acting. Most will feel a deep dread when they are near one. They don't physically harm but the mental damage is enough.

The Factions
There are 3 factions within Willosya.
Town: A friend of the average citizens. These are the people that live normal lives and do everything they can to insure everyone else is living happily as well. Most of the players will side with Town as this is the most peaceful of the factions.
Corrupt: The enemy of the citizens. The King is the leader of this Faction. He corrupts the spirits of the citizens using his poison so they obey him. He has a more perfected version of this serum that he gives to his loyal guards. They have some of the benefits of the Provoked but also maintain their free will. This group is very small but they help the King keep control over his subjects.
Rebellion: The protectors of the citizens. They fight of any of the corrupt that come near the town. They give off the image of the protectors, but they have also done some crimes that cannot be forgiven. Over the years, the Rebellion has turned into a bloodbath of cruel members. They kill not only the Corrupt, but also anyone who defends them or is related to them in fear of the poison transferring over to the uninfected residents. They are also always at ends with the Corrupt guards.
Factions will default to Town unless your player eventually switches sides.
