Biography
Infancy: Connor is the son of Irish parents who were ex-convicts in the colony of Australia, he spent his first few years in the bush of Victoria before his family travelled to America to find a new life. Arriving in New York, the young Connor followed his family as they travelled West, eventually settling down on a small piece of land to start a farm.

Childhood: The first few years in America were tough and Connor helped his parents on the farm, cutting trees, building fences, ploughing fields as well as all of the usual mischief that kids will get up to. Connor had one older brother and one older sister, as well as a newborn baby sister, but he spent most of his free time with the neighbour, another immigrant boy whose family had arrived from Holland. The two of them rampaged around town together, becoming fast friends.

Adolescence: Several years later, when Connor and his friend were 16, they both decided that the farm life was not for them and that they would strike out West to see more of the country than their small town. They had saved up enough to buy a rifle and enough supplies to last them, then set out on their horses to explore the frontier.

The two of them hunted together, making their living selling pelts as they moved from town to town, though a handful of times they chose to turn to robbery when times were tough and the two of them were running out of money. Eventually they got into some more serious trouble and decided that they should split up, as the law were looking for a pair. Connor took a train back East while his friend headed North, not to see each other for many years.

Adulthood: Connor got off the train in Boston and applied to work in several bars but he was looked at as a wild country bumpkin and turned away from every bit of work he asked for. Turning once more to robbery, Connor began relieving people of their belongings, lurking in dark alleys or breaking into homes and businesses.

But, these things have time limits and soon enough he pissed off the wrong person, being forced to flee from the city, heading back out west to see if he could track down his old friend. It had been several years since he had left, so his face was no longer posted on wanted posters, and anyway his hair had prematurely gone grey and he dressed with a different sense of fashion since living in the city, as well as a few new scars from knife fights, so he doubted he would have been recognised anyway.

Finding it difficult to slip back into legitimate business, Connor made his way by robbing people on the roads and breaking into shops as he skipped from town to town. It didn’t take long for him to become wanted again, this time fleeing up north into the mountains to hide out. He went back to hunting, surviving on what he caught and only coming down to town to sell the pelts and meat he collected, becoming more and more isolated but feeling more and more at home away from the stink and noise of the city.

Personal Characteristics
Name: Attoph Hughes-Gulfman (Formerly Attoph Gulfman)
Appearance: Average height, pale skin. His face usually displays a little bit of stubble or none at all, but never enough to classify as a beard. His eyes appear constantly tired, and they have lost the innocence they used to hold. He has thin, down turned pink lips, and his fluffy, layered bronze hair doesn't reach his shoulders.
Other Names: Atto, Hughes, Gulfman, Attoph, Attoph Hughes, Attoph Gulfman.
Titles: Owner/Creator of Gulfman-Hughes Custom Tailor
Birth Date: September 13, 1814 (9/13/1814)
Age: 26
Place of Birth: London, Britain

Mental Characteristics
Lures: Atto is drawn to many things. He enjoys being out at night in the wild, staring up at the sky, he enjoys roasting corn and pork over a hot campfire, and he enjoys the small town of Walburn.
Savvies: Atto has been a tailor for more than half of his life. At the age of 10, his mother bought him a knitting needle, some cloth, and a book on knitting for his birthday, and he's been fascinated ever since. He enjoys wildlife the wilderness, and his pet lynx, Onyx. He also enjoys reading novels.
Ineptnesses: For some reason, he could never get the hang of riding a horse; it just never clicked with Atto. Also, he is bad in fights. Guns, knives, it doesn't matter, he sucks at hurting people, although he tries to get better, just in case.
Temperament: Friendly, forgiving, emotionally ready for anything except for altercations, fights mostly. Fights put him on the edge of his mind. His hands get shaky, and his mind and heart race, putting him in a constant nervous and anxious state.
Hobbies: Reading. With the recent invention of baseball, Atto attempted a game or two, and loved it. He is now one of Walburn's top hitters. With the arrival of the First Transcontinental Railroad, many opportunities would open up.

Intellectual Characteristics
Mental Stability: He isn't aware of it, nor does he show it, but Atto is just a trigger or two away from snapping, where he would more than likely revert to his old ways--with a gun in his hand.
Logical-Mathematical: Atto is a well-educated person for the most part. His parents made him attend school in London, but when his parents died, a group of outlaws discovered and took him in. They educated him from that point forward. He is a very logical thinker and an experienced mathematician, as it is required for tailors.
Linguistic: Suprisingly, the outlaw gang that adopted Atto was very well-spoken, and educated him as such.
Interpersonal: Atto is a people person. He tries to make friends with whoever he can, and is not a racist nor a sexist man. He does his best to understand everyone who crosses paths with him, and being in the outlaw gang he was proved helpful, as they encountered many people on their journeys, and had to defuse and ally with them.
Intrapersonal: Atto is fully aware of his strengths and weaknesses, his fears, passions, etc. He does his best to overcome his fears, and when he has to face them, he tries to take a stand.
Naturalistic: Atto was raised by his criminal family to live off the land, and thus it was a wake up call to the 10 year old city boy. It opened up his eyes to further opportunities, to more ideas and more ways to go about a situation. When the gang was faced with a problem, they overcame it, and even more so in the wilderness.
Existential: Atto has a very simple set of views when it comes to questions beyond human understanding: "If it is then it is, and if it it's not then it's not." He doesn't know or care why he, or anyone exists, what matters is that they do.

Philosophical Characteristics
Morality: Being raised mostly by, recently by, and being the most influential on Atto, one could see how the gang of outlaws could have corrupted his set of moral views. Although he knew that what they were doing was wrong, Atto still participated in their... activities, and even though he doesn't associate with them anymore, he still has a complicated view on morality. Attoph believes that it isn't murder if you kill a bad person, for example. If you kill a killer, then the number of killers remains the same, but if you kill multiple killers, then the number reduces.
Perception: He was raised to appreciate what he had, but to take what he hadn't. Atto is more of an optimist, a glass is half-full kind of guy, but he has to really stifle the other temptation sometimes.

Spiritual Characteristics
Religion: Atheist
Superstitions: Believes that his ancestors are watching over him, but that's about it. He doesn't agree or disagree with other superstitions, though.
Vices: Although Atto does not speak about the gang or display any deadly sins, he used to. Envy in particular; Atto loved to steal things.
Virtues: Kindness, Patience, Temperance.

Belongings
Equipment: He carries a black pocket knife that has a 4-inch blade when folded out. Just in case, he says. He also carries around a joke book that he purchased at a yard sale a few years ago.
Special Belongings: His father's watch, and a sewing kit his mother bought him when he was 10.
Wardrobe: A light blue and white striped suit with black shoes while he is in town. Light brown or white shirts, jeans, and a leather vest with long hunting boots while in the wild.

Social
Emotional Stability: More stable than his mental stability, that's for sure.
Humor: His sense of humor involves cheap jokes from a small joke book he bought at a yard sale that carries with him, and natural occurances
Reputation: Well known as the man who can talk to cats.
Social Status: He goes outside frequently, and tries to converse with others regularly.

School and Work
Education: He attended the entirety of elementary school, and the gang went from there. They did a very good job; Atto is well-educated.
Occupation: Custom Tailor, or a tailor that takes specialized orders from customers.
Work Schedule: Whenever there are paying customers.
Income: It depends on how many customers he has, but usually around $20 a month.

Biography
Infancy: Atto was the son to two healthy parents: Frederich, a war veteran, and Angelica, a tailor.
Childhood: When he was 10 years old, the ship that carried Atto, his parents, and a dozen slaves was attacked by pirates. Only Atto and his pet lynx survived, and was then discovered by a gang of outlaws.
Adolescence: After being raised by the outlaws, they used him in their robberies and such. Atto enjoyed it, but as he got older, he realized what they were doing was wrong, and separated from them when he was 17. When he separated from them, he traveled north to Ohio, where he met Edith Atkins, who took him in until they traveled to Wyoming together.
Adulthood: Atto and Onyx, along with a group of villagers from Miss Atkins' village traveled west with Miss Atkins to settle in Wyoming.

Personality
A tough-lovin' woman who's seen her fair share of troubles and shouldered grief at a young age. Evelyn is hard to crack and harder to throw off when shes determined to do something, whilst her maternal instincts offer a softer contrast. There'll always be a soft spot in her heart for children and young families or those in need of a little charity. Due to being raised by an only father for a while, Eve learned how to shoot, spit, and tussle with the best of them; that being before she was forced to grow up and fit the role society held for her. It was hard to accommodate not only the changes expected socially but those physically demanding of puberty. Other than that, she caught her fathers temper, being rather hot-headed and rash before managing to sort out things logically, which is why she's been labelled a firebrand to all prospective suitors, spurned admirers, and townsfolk in general. Nobody threatens her staff, nobody touches the girls who ain't the working sort, and nobody insults her establishment to her face. Theres a reason for the shotgun pellets they haven't managed to pull out the wooden panelling yet. On the other hand, she will gladly bend over backwards to accommodate polite customers, especially if they pay right.

Biography
Raised in Big Timber, Montana, the daughter of a lumberjack her father made good money. It was only after the birth of her youngest brother that things changed. Both sibling and parent died during the labour, leaving Evelyn, Lavinia and Henry alone with their grief. Their father began to drink to solve his woes and Lavinia, aged only twelve, became the woman of the household. Evelyn, ten at the time, was instead charged with looking after Henry, a seven-year-old boy who preferred charging through pig stys and hanging around the mill. Their father was eventually fired due to his drunken state and only managed to get worse before their great-aunt Irene intervened.

Irene invited them to live with her in Wyoming, owning a large stagecoach inn and saloon where her father could receive support and the children could live better lives with education and a safer future. They accepted. Irene was the largest, motivational and supportive influence in Evelyn's life, pushing her toward greater things and making her understand that even then, a woman had her place and it wasn't where men thought it to be. Take pride in your sewing, but make it clear you'd blow their Johnson clean off if they wanted to play any games.

Their father contracted cholera when Evelyn was fifteen during a small outbreak and died shortly after, whilst Lavinia had become engaged to a businessman at seventeen and left for greater things. Henry, on the other hand, at twelve, began developing behavioural issues which spiralled into drinking as he got older.

The last Evelyn heard from Lavinia, she'd started a brood of four children and is pregnant with a fifth. Whilst Eve isn't necessarily looking for a husband, the town likes to throw around rumours about how she's becoming a spinster and following in the steps of women gone insane. Nevertheless, she stays strong, not only for herself but her brother, however, Henry doesn't get much sympathy anymore when he's collected from the local jail. As far as business goes, it's doing well, but the shipments for alcohol, food, laundering, and all the other necessities leave little for Eve to spend on herself or emergencies in any case. She only hopes the railroad will bring more business.

Personality
As strong in heart as he is in arm, Thomas is a compassionate but reserved man. Whilst it takes much to get him to anger, there is a logic about him found in those whom have had to hurdle their own difficulties. Independent to the point he refuses help in the form of charity to emotional reliance, he may be stable but there is certainly something of strength when it comes to picking up your own pieces and moving on. With a friendly demeanour he doesn't have much hinderance on making friends and close associates, however he's not the sort to hang around long enough that they'll be the friends that he'll grow old with. Generally is kind enough to take people under his wing if they require his aid, enact vigilante justice if he believes in the cause and sees everything as cut and dry. Not a fan of leaving things unfinished.

Biography
Thomas Keziah Bishop was born as the fourth child out of seven. His mother was a miners daughter and his father a veteran of the war of 1812. It was a rough childhood, his father moving from job to job and as soon as his sons were old enough, they went out to join him. He taught all his eldest sons how to hunt, fish and fight, skills all young men would eventually need. Until one day he went hunting alone and never returned. People looked for his body day and night, never the sort to ever abandon his wife and was thus presumed dead. Lost to the wilds. Those dark days caused him and his siblings to mature, for a while surviving hand to mouth and always praying that it wouldn't be that month they went bankrupt. First, his young sister Mary passed at only ten and then later his mother perished to the consumption, no fight left for the crumbling her life had become.

Thomas and his brothers were sent to live with their uncle Jack, during the time the Oregon Trail had begun to boom, becoming guides to caravaners on the dangerous journey. Their sisters, however, were sent to live with one of his mother's relatives and married off. Whilst his brothers began to forge their own paths, Thomas remained on the pilgrim's path and started getting into the vices of man, gambling for one which earned him the nickname of Black Jack Bishop. When he finally ventured into the world alone, Tom began initially by getting into trouble with the law and became a small-time conman which earned him his next milestone of Thomas Two Shackle after a series of arrests. Something about being stuck in a jail cell which stunk of piss and sweat made him rethink his life, aided by a priest who took pity and desired to bring Thomas back to the light from where he'd strayed.

Bishop had much of his life transformed, each by a slow and painful lesson. Some came from killing, others came from talking, and most from the experience of travelling. There was always kindness if you knew where to look and yet there was also the ugly face of violence. Working from a cowpoke to lumberer, fur trapper to farmhand, miner to carpenter. His life has been fraught with living on the edge, between penniless and rich man. Yet there is much to be said, for Thomas would call himself free. It's not as if any woman would take his hand these days and in the bottom of his heart, perhaps Thomas is saddened by that.

Pending approval of course, but here is my character:

Personal Characteristics
Name: John Thomas Campbell
Appearance: Tall, average build, pale skin. Rough appearance, rarely shaven but not full length beard. Usually carries a grin through all occurances. Green eyes and brown hair.
Other Names: Johnny Do-Right, The Ranger
Titles: Duly Sworn US Ranger/Bounty Hunter
Birth Date: September 11, 1816
Age: 24
Place of Birth: Kirtland, Ohio

Mental Characteristics
Lures: John seeks a life of solace after living a life on the edge. A lot of killing and bloodshed has left him to question his beliefs as well as his salvation. He also suffers from a slight gambling addiction. He’s lost more than a few horses to a card game.
Savvies: John is slick and charming. He’s deadly with a pistol but a downright Grim Reaper with a rifle.
Ineptnesses: After years of being driven from home to home due to his beliefs, John decided to learn to be a gunfighter. However, years of combat and no real close friends to speak of have left its mark on his psyche. (He suffers from PTSD and can sometimes shut down in a gunfight.)
Temperament: Friendly. Quick to trust and quicker to defend the innocent. His steely gaze from sunken, dark eyes puts off most people though.
Hobbies: Gambling, although he is not very lucky with cards. Riding, sometimes shooting (mostly for hunting now).

Intellectual Characteristics
Mental Stability: Weak, but with the right amount of bourbon he’s Fort Knox.
Logical-Mathematical: Although not officially learned, John’s mother Abiagael taught him reading, writing, and basic maths.
Linguistic: Normal english per the times
Interpersonal: John is a great investigator – a trait that while has left him untrusting of new faces, it has served him as his time as a Ranger and bounty hunter.
Naturalistic: Throughout his youth, he lived on farmland, helping his father Seamus raise crops (usually through sharecropping), he never knew money until bounty hunting.
Existential: Being a member of the newly formed Mormon church, he relies on his knowledge of the Bible and Book of Mormon for answers.

Philosophical Characteristics
Morality: John leans on the chaotic good side, making sure that justice is served, no matter the cost.

Spiritual Characteristics
Religion: Mormonism
Superstitions: He isn’t very superstitious, but believes that others have the right to what they do.
Vices: Gambling
Virtues: Justice, Caring, Patience

Belongings
Equipment: A Colt Paterson Revolver, etched with notches of how many outlaws he has brought to Justice. (12) And a Model 1841 Rifle, his first brand new (at the time) gun that he had ever bought. He scratched Seamus in the stock in honor of his father, who died protecting Abiagael and John while they fled.
Special Belongings: He carries a picture of his mother in his hat and his father’s pocket watch, which stopped a bullet that would have killed him during his first bounty hunt.
Wardrobe: A Black cowboy hat with the sides rolled up and a leather string tied around and hanging off the back, a faded red bandana hanging around his neck, a white (although dirty) shirt covered by a black striped vest with the pocketwatch in it. A gun belt holding his heavy pistol, followed by the belt holding his black striped trousers. A torn, well used duster covers all that. Black riding gloves. Brown cowboy boots that have seen many miles.

Social
Emotional Stability: He may conversate if he feels he can get information from you. Sometimes a chatterbox, sometimes a grumbling mass of bad memories.
Humor: Mostly dark to shoo away his past.
Reputation: Depends on which side of the law you stand on.
Social Status: Keeps to himself mostly, goes drinking now and then.

School and Work
Education: None to speak of, besides his mother’s teachings.

Health
Health Status: Healthy, although his liver could be better.
Addictions: Gambling
Handicaps: None

Sexual Characteristics

Significant Other: None, although he's open (NPC or Roleplayer).

Personality
True Personality: Actually wants to be friendly and let people in, but his occupation and past make him leery.
Persona: John is a quiet man. Friendly when spoken to.

Biography
Infancy: John was raised by Abiagael (housewife) and Seamus (sharecropper)
Childhood: At the age of 9, Seamus took John hunting. A large deer was about 80 yards out when John took the shot. He hit and killed the deer, but the rifle malfunctioned causing a small explosion – the hammer flew backwards and hit John between the eyes, causing his scar.
Adolescence: John grew tired of the hatred towards Mormons and his anger was sealed when his father died protecting him and his mother. Abiagael continued westward with the Mormons – John, being 16, started using his anger to Bounty Hunt. Eventually he was duly sworn to protect the States and Terrotories from criminals of all kinds.

Birth Date: December 27th, 1812

Savvies: Wesley is personable and genuine, making him a remarkable man of bed side manner. He's easily trusted and a keeper of many secrets. He's loyal to those who empty their burdens on him, and he seems to know when to say just the right thing.
Ineptnesses: When Wesley is lost in his work nothing else exists. This can make him seems careless and selfish, especially to those who don't know him. Dr. Vernon is a man who likes to finish everything he starts. When work interrupts his tasks at home, he's found working into the darkest hours of the night to finish. Though pure of heart, his obsessiveness makes him a forgetful man.
Temperament: Usually cool headed and well spoken. However, passionately stubborn about his medical opinions. Often loses his calm demeanor when facing malicious ignorance or injustice.
Hobbies: Reading, whittling, riding, researching

Intellectual Characteristics
Mental Stability: Wesley is commonly described as level headed and decent. His obsessive tendencies are excused as a personality quirk, though they could develop into something unruly.
Logical-Mathematical: Wesley is highly logical, and driven by science. He loves reading academic journals, and can usually be found divulging himself in the newest medical technology or theories. Coming from an educated family, Wesley also thrives in puzzles and solutions.
Linguistic: As a son of an upper-class couple in New York City, Wesley is well spoken and proper, though never pompous or belittling.
Interpersonal: Dr. Vernon is known for his friendly demeanor and tender caring. Though he is sociable and delights in conversation, the Doctor can lose himself in menial tasks.
Intrapersonal: Wesley has quite the ego, but he successfully plays it off as confidence in his skills. Perhaps one could call him a daydreamer, letting his musings take over in most quiet moments.

Philosophical Characteristics
Morality: Wesley was raised Catholic, but believes in Karma more than anything.
Perception: Though Wesley was raised in a wealthy family, he's driven my generosity. He believes that the more good you put out into the world, the happier you'll be.

Spiritual Characteristics
Religion: Catholic, officially
Superstitions: Dr. Vernon has never been a superstitious man. Even as a child the stories of monsters and ghosts never made sense to him.
Vices: Cigars. Whiskey. Arrogance. Jealousy.Forgetfulness. Obsessive.
Virtues: Trustful. Kind. Generous.

Belongings
Equipment: His doctor's bag. A crate of cabin building tools, and various specialty items (glass for windows, brass door knobs, etc.). One handgun and one rifle.
Special Belongings: His baby blanket, his wedding band, his father's medical encyclopedia
Wardrobe: When out making house calls Wesley usually wears a grey or dark blue suit, well fitted and professional. When working at home he's found in brown work pants, an old white shirt, and sturdy boots.

Social
Emotional Stability: Wesley finds great joy in this new adventure, and rarely finds himself in dark moods.
Humor: Dr. Vernon's sense of humor is scattered and unpredictable. He's most comfortable with light teasing and pranks with those he knows.
Reputation: Being the son of a well-respected doctor in New York has always bolstered Wesley's reputation. However, his early whims and missteps in England have stained his pure reputation. Wesley's radical ideas and medical practice have also created mixed feelings and rumors about him.
Social Status: Upper Class, but not of High Society

School and Work
Education: Highly educated. Practicing doctor.
Occupation: Doctor.
Work Schedule: Dr. Vernon's metaphoric door is always open. When someone is in need, Wesley is there.

Physical Characteristics
Height: 5'11
Weight: 160 lbs
Nationality: American
Ethnicity: European
Skin Color: White

Scars: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Tattoos and/or Piercings: N/A

Addictions: One could argue that he's a workaholic.
Handicaps: None

Sexual Characteristics
Gender: Male
Significant Other: Eloise Marie Vernon, Wife

Personality
True Personality: Respectful, doting, hard working, friendly, jealous, stubborn, arrogant, passionate.
Persona: Thin-lipped, official, well mannered, genuine but careful.

Biography
Infancy: Wesley was born to a well-respected doctor in New York City who married a beautiful socialite, George and Analiese. He was well loved, and often spoiled.
Childhood: After trying to bear Wesley's father a second child, Analiese died. The newborn survived for only a short month, and he was never named. After his mother died, Wesley's relationship with his father was strained. His father was rarely home, working to get away from his sorrows. When father was home, they barely interacted. Wesley spent most of his young childhood years with a nanny named Bethesda. Once he was of a proper age he was sent to boarding school in England.
Adolescence: While embarking on the many adventures of boarding school, Wesley made friends with some of the most sought after bachelors of England. Though Wesley was a remarkable student, he could also be found at the most popular social events and parties. This, of course, is how he met Lady Eloise Marie. They maintained a respectable friendship during his years of study, but their attraction grew as they reached adulthood. However, Wesley would never be suited to marry to Eloise, nor would her father bless such a union.
Adulthood: While Wesley worked as an apprentice to the local doctor in her father's land, he and Eloise began a secret affair. Through a whirlwind of romance and scandal, Wesley and Eloise (affectionately called Elle) fled England to start a new life. Perhaps foolishly, they'd taken Elle's inheritance and decided to settle in Wyoming.

Personal Characteristics

Name: Tacitus "Flint" Lockheart

Appearance: Small face with angled eyes, eyebrows with barely any hair, and a short mouth. He appears much less dangerous than he actually is.

Other Names: Lockheart, Boss, Flint, Tassy (nicknamed by Atto)

Titles: Flint/Leader of the Flames.

Birth Date: 4/30/1826

Age: 20 Years

Place of Birth: Richmond, Virginia.

Mental Characteristics
Lures: Good, hot food for one. His father's appreciation, killing, robbing, stealing, just committing crimes in general.

Savvies: Strategy, Knives, Unarmed and armed combat, evading the law, killing, and robbing are a few.

Ineptitudes: He is extremely unskilled with firearms, as in he cannot aim at all.

Temperament: Tacitus, if pricked the wrong way by a hint of disrespect, someone raising their voice, or anything else like that could upset him, causing a scene, and perhaps unwanted consequences.

Hobbies: Whittling, working on chores within the camp, robbing, killing, stealing.

Intellectual Characteristics

Mental Stability: There's something off about Tacitus. He had been manipulated by his father (and still is), and it has messed with him greatly, but something else is horribly wrong here...

Logical-Mathematical: He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to math or English, but he can strategize with the gods if needed.

Linguistic: Not the best. He usually speaks like a stereotypical southern man.

Interpersonal: Tacitus interacts with people around him in a slight jokingly hostile manner. He does not care about other's feelings, their thoughts, etc., he only cares about himself and his father.

Intrapersonal: Tacitus understands himself about as much as he understands the law. Very little, and even though he has tried to search inside of him to find who he is, his father wouldn't stop coming to his mind.

Existential: He doesn't know why anything exists, and he doesn't care, either.

Philosophical Characteristics

Morality: Pure evil.

Perception (Optimist, Pessimist, etc.): Pessimist

Spiritual Characteristics

Religion: Atheist

Superstitions: He usually doesn't fool with that "nonsense."

Vices: Murder, theft, robbery, obsessiveness, manipulative, being all around evil.

Virtues: Basically none.

Belongings

Equipment: A variety of knives that he carries with him at almost all times. Usually a small pistol, just in case.

Special Belongings: None

Wardrobe: He wears a worn, ripped black coat with an orange vest underneath. He also wears black pants, short, black boots, and a black hat with three flat corners, the corner in front curling upwards a bit.

Social
Emotional Stability: The slightest bit of disrespect, someone raising their tone, or anything else along those lines could cause him to lose his temper, and commit unspeakable acts.

Humor: His sense of humor is very dark, usually relating to death.

Reputation: Nobody is sure who he is, as the gang used to be lead by his father, Lock Lockheart, and the public does not know that Tacitus is the man in charge now. Nevertheless, he is still feared and hated by most.

Social Status: Not many people to converse with inside the gang camp, and he has no friends outside of it.

School and Work

Education: Solely educated by his father and whoever else felt the need to help out with his education. He is smart in some ways, like where to cut a human, how to hide weapons, and strategies, but not as much in other fields, such as English, math, etc.

Occupation: Professional criminal, leader of the Flames.
Work Schedule: Whenever the need arises.

Income: It varies, usually more than $50 a week.

Personal Connections

Immediate Family: Lock "Old Flame" Lockheart (Father).

Close Relatives:

Ancestors: Amelia Lockheart (Deceased Mother)

Allies: The Flames' Gang Members.

Enemies: Attoph Hughes-Gulfman, the Law.

Friends: Gang members

Heroes: His father, Lock.

Rivals: ???

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 126 lbs

Nationality: American

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Skin Color: White

Hair Color: Black

Scars: A long, intimidating scar spanning his forehead from a bullet, although his hat and hair usually block it from sight.

Tattoos and/or Piercings: A single detailed tattoo of a raging fire across his back.

Health

Health Status: Healthy

Addictions: Tacitus is extremely obsessed and addicted to making his father happy, proud of him, etc.

Handicaps: None

Sexual Characteristics

Gender: Male

Significant Other: None (not open)

Personality

True Personality: Pure Evil.

Persona: Also Pure Evil.

Biography
Infancy: Born to Lock Lockheart, leader and founder of the Flames at the time, and Amelia Lockheart, who died of lung cancer when Tacitus was five. He had a normal childhood, until around the age of ten

Childhood: Atto Gulfman, Tacitus's best friend when he was ten, left the group unexpectedly after six years of being with them. This destroyed Tacitus.

Adolescence: Everything went downhill from when Atto left. Tacitus's urges to kill became prevalent, but Lock wouldn't have it until he was at least sixteen. Tacitus went out one night, seeking someone to take his anger out on, and found a lone man on the side of the road near a town. He decided to take his knife out and attack the man, but was quickly disarmed. The man shot a pistol, and it grazed Tacitus's forehead, leaving a nasty scar.

Lady Eloise Marie Scott
Personal Characteristics
Name: Eloise Marie Scott, but assumes the surname of Wesley Vernon, to keep up appearances
Appearance: Slender and pale. A remarkably angular, yet beautiful face.
Other Names: Elle, Mrs. Vernon
Titles: Lady Eloise, daughter of the Earl of Eldon
Birth Date: August 12th, 1818
Age: 22
Place of Birth: County Palatine of Durham, England

Mental Characteristics
Lures: Eloise can't resist the luxuries of a more genteel life. Fine fabrics and silks, embroidery, classical music, balls, and so on. Though she isn't built for this world on the Western frontier, she loves caring for animals and children. She also enjoys a good hot bath.
Savvies: Mrs. Vernon is quite good at sewing, weaving, knitting, and shoe repair. Though her skills may still be in their infancy (as far as functionality instead of esthetic goes), she's bound to develop them out in Wyoming.
Ineptnesses: Eloise grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth. Literally. The girl has no experience in cooking, cleaning, or any other household duty. She is quite naive to complexities of real life and the woes of hard work and perseverance. Let's just say she lacks many skills needed to be successful in such uncivilized territory.
Temperament: As a proper lady she eludes a sense of dignity at all times. However, she is easy flustered and quickly angered.
Hobbies: Playing piano, reading, going for long walks

Intellectual Characteristics
Mental Stability:
Logical-Mathematical: Eloise has a basic education in mathematics and the sciences. Her expertise lies in the discussion of such subjects, not applying them.
Linguistic: Mrs. Vernon, like her husband, is well read and well spoken. Though her tongue does deceive her at times, showing others that she is of much higher birth than she lets on.
Interpersonal: When Eloise is getting her way she is a joy to be around. She loves other people and belonging to a crowd. After all, her entire life was founded on social events and matchmaking. However, a spoiled streak can make her mean and spiteful at times.
Intrapersonal: Eloise has little self-awareness and likes to fill her lonely moments with people or activities, rarely giving herself a chance to reflect.

Philosophical Characteristics
Morality: Though Mrs. Vernon can be high maintenance at times, she usually has the best of intentions.
Perception: Eloise has always been a dreamer, which makes her what one might call a naive optimist.

Spiritual Characteristics
Religion: Church of England
Superstitions: A belief in ghosts, demons, evil spirits.
Vices: Attention of any kind, prideful, hot-headed, impatient.
Virtues: Graceful, committed, empathetic.

Belongings
Equipment: A box of sewing needles and thread, some fabric. An embroidery hoop and some floss. A cobbler's kit.
Special Belongings: A large crate of her most favorite dresses and gowns. Pearls from her mother. Her wedding band.
Wardrobe: Eloise does not leave her private quarters without the finest clothing. A habit that her husband is slowly trying to break of her. She is often overdressed wherever she goes.

Social
Emotional Stability: A bit oblivious to real struggles and emotions in life, Eloise hasn't had the time to develop anything other than a stable emotional state. Aside from a tantrum here and there.
Humor: A lady does not tell a joke, she only laughs at those appropriate.
Reputation: In England, she was one of the finest Lady to wed. She was virtuous, kind-hearted, and a bit more adventurous than most girls. However, after running off with an American doctor she's been exiled from her home. Here she has a new slate.
Social Status: Daughter of an Earl

School and Work
Education: Well educated, though never went to any formal school.
Occupation: N/A
Work Schedule: N/A
Income: Lives off of the inheritance she was able to withdraw before fleeing her parents wrath.

Physical Characteristics
Height: 5'5
Weight: 135 lbs
Nationality: English
Ethnicity: European
Skin Color: White
Hair Color: Blonde
Scars: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Tattoos and/or Piercings: N/A

Health
Health Status: Eloise is the glowing image of health. She has been very well taken care of her entire life.
Addictions: None.
Handicaps: None.

Sexual Characteristics
Gender: Female
Significant Other: Dr. Wesley Vernon, known as her husband, but they have yet to actually get married

Personality
True Personality: Warm, loving, bright, bubbly, ambitious, kind, stubborn, spoiled, hot-headed, immature.
Persona: Snobby, clumsy, ignorant, squeamish, mean-spirited at times.

Biography
Infancy: Eloise was born the second daughter and the third child. Her older siblings were Richard, Lillian, and Mary. As the youngest child of the house, she was coddled and overwhelmingly loved.
Childhood: Eloise was raised as a true Brit, with long study hours, a demanding governess, and learning the duties of being a lady. While she was raised to sit with the top crust of society, she was also a bit wiry and unpredictable for her parents.
Adolescence: By the time she was a teenager, Eloise was known for her coyness and flirtation. Eloise had known Wesley for several years; he went to the same boarding school as her brother. Initially, she was nothing more than a kid sister to make fun at during the summer. However, as she matured, their friendship blossomed into an illustrious affair amongst their friends.
Adulthood: Finally, when she was arranged to be married to someone else, Eloise decided to run away with Wesley and begin an adventure.

Personal Characteristics

Name: Hortense 'Mags' Domagala

Appearance: Mags is woman of average height with a lean muscular build. She has dark hair and brown skin, being of Ojibwe and European descent. In certain circumstances, she could potentially pass as white (like when she lived with her white father and stepmother) but rarely does.

Other Names: Mags has gone exclusively by 'Mags' for nearly a decade now and has had no use for the name she was given at birth.

Titles: -

Birth Date: 1818

Age: 28

Place of Birth: Wisconsin

Mental Characteristics

Lures: Warm food and a dry bed for a low price are the best way to motivate Mags. She appreciates things and people that are useful and competent, but also values kindness in herself and others.

Savvies: Mags has a host of skills, mostly surrounding life in the outdoors. She can ride a horse, shoot a rabbit, skin the rabbit, start a fire to cook the rabbit, find edible plants, use a compass and a fishing pole, etc. She is also a trained midwife and also applies those skills to livestock on occasion. (Mags is likely a ‘good’ midwife, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she consistently delivers health babies, especially as she travels further west.) Mags is an excellent shot with a bow and arrow and has gotten into the practice of making her own arrows (though they aren’t of the best quality).

Ineptitudes: Mags can use a handgun or rifle, but really isn't the best shot with them. Though more literate in French and English than might be expected, she reads quite slowly and often has to sound things out aloud, especially in English. Her people skills are... lacking. She’s also pretty shit at domestic tasks.

Temperament: Mags most closely fits the melancholic temperament, as she keeps a neutral facade and is slow to form or share any strong opinions or feelings.

Hobbies: Mags has little free time to devote to things that do not further her own survival, but she does enjoy being out in nature, doing quiet things like horseback riding, stargazing or fishing. She likes the concept of embroidery- Being able to personalize and decorate things would be nice and could satisfy a creative itch, but in practice Mags is terrible at it, and has neither the time, money, nor patience to improve.

Intellectual Characteristics

Mental Stability: Mags has done things she’s not proud of, and some things she even might regret. But she doesn’t lose much sleep over any of it.

Logical-Mathematical: Mags is not great with numbers, and struggles particularly with systems that aren’t base-10 (like time, or imperial measurements). She probably has dyscalculia, though the diagnosis does not exist yet. She is a logical thinker and good at short term planning, but isn’t great with long-term strategy, especially if it involves the far-future actions and emotions of other people.

Linguistic: Mags was raised speaking French and later learned English as well. She predominantly speaks English now, and has dropped any French Canadian accent she might have had. She can read and write a little in both. She also speaks basic conversational Ojibwa, and could maybe get by with another language or dialect in the Algonquian family. She generally uses fairly plain language, due to both a simple vocabulary and her habit of being straightforward.

Interpersonal: Mags struggles at reading people, and has her whole life. Generally, she assumes her social presence is unwanted or at best, merely tolerated. She has gotten much better at predicting behavior in the short term, but doesn’t really understand longer trends of how and why people act the way they do.

Intrapersonal: Mags has few pretensions about who she is or what she can be, and is generally content with her lot in life even though she realizes much of her suffering has been due to unfair treatment. There's not much she can do to change the past, and not a whole lot more she can do to change the future, so. Best to just make do.

Naturalistic: Mags is a survivor in many senses of the world, and she's an excellent ally to have against the vast wilderness. She is comfortable with the wide range of tasks and skills needed to exist alone in nature for weeks at a time, and has a particular fondness for animals, whether as patients to assist or prey to make into her dinner.

Existential: Mags has laid beneath the stars and wondered about the great questions of the universe once or twice, and has largely decided to let others tackle such things. She's got more pressing things to tend to.

Philosophical Characteristics

Morality: Mags is by no means an immoral person, but she is ultimately loyal only to herself. She doesn't enjoy hurting others, and has developed a bit of a habit towards helping others when she can, especially vulnerable woman and children. But she does what she needs to in order to survive, and feels little guilt for it.

Perception: Mags is a realist- She hopes for the best, but is always ready to cut her losses if things go badly.

Spiritual Characteristics

Religion: Mags was raised in a Christian household and attends service if she is in town on Sunday.

Superstitions: Mags has picked up the superstitions of the many towns she has passed through and the people she has stayed with, and she acts on them through habit. She does believe in a higher power, though she is doubtful of both the Christianity her father raised her in and the beliefs of her mother's band.

Vices: Pride, wrath. She has a fondness for tobacco and cheap alcohol, but rarely overdoes it as she prefers to spend her money on other things, and she has no interest in losing control over herself.

Virtues: Mags is fairly patient and can be quite kind to those she believes are deserving of it, if she can afford to be.

Belongings

Equipment: Mags carries most of her life with her in her saddlebags, though she manages to pack quite a bit in there. She has the tools one needs to survive alone for about a week, and a bag with some basic medical supplies as well as a few items more specific to midwifery. For weaponry, she has a variety of knives, a handgun, and a bow with arrows- She considers these mostly tools for hunting and living in the wild, but she has aimed at humans on several occasions. Any of Mags' spare belongings, like the clothes she isn't currently wearing or extra firestarters she got for a good bargain, she keeps in a locked cabinet in the sheriff's office.

Special Belongings: Mags is not a very sentimental person, and owns very little that is not a tool in one way or another, though some of her tools are more specialized and she is careful with them because they'd be a real pain to replace so far out from a major trade hub. The one thing that would be difficult to replace beyond just the cost would be her horse, a large brown mare she refers to as 'Mister'. When she was more nomadic, she would often assure people that no, she was not traveling alone, and her Mister would be expecting her back at their camp soon.

Wardrobe: Mags tends to wear simple clothes of middling quality- Not so shabby that they need frequent replacing, but not so well made that she's never had to resew a button or darn a patch on a worn spot. Her wardrobe is dark in color and without patterns or embellishments- Maybe two pairs of pants, three shirts with long sleeves and collars, a long dark coat and a wide brimmed black hat.

Her coat is probably the nicest thing she owns, though it’s a bit big on her. It’s sealed to be waterproof and was made for a man who never came to complete the payment, so Mags got it discounted and has made alterations as she is able. It’s boxy in the shoulders and tends to give her a more masculine figure than she actually has, which Mags does not mind.

She has been mistaken for a man on occasion, and found she gets less trouble that way. She sometimes binds her breasts with linen in the winter or for long rides, though this is more for warmth and practicality than the aesthetic of passing as a man, especially as she has long since outgrown the bodice style undergarments she took when she left home. If she's in town on a Sunday, she'll change into whichever clothes are currently cleanest and attend church.

Social

Emotional Stability: Mags has been moving about for a decade now, and her current stint of almost two years in Walburn is the longest she has stayed anywhere in quite some time. Though there are probably many people who consider Mags a friend of theirs, her nomadic lifestyle has prevented her from viewing them in a similar way, and she doesn’t consider herself to have a social support network.

Humor: Mags has a sense of humor. It just doesn’t show itself too often. She will laugh sometimes if she’s been drinking, but on a day to day basis she shows her amusement with a small curl on the left side of her mouth and maybe a short chuckle that could be mistaken as a laugh. She has, on occasion, even told some rather dry jokes herself, but they tend not to get much response, likely because her audience doesn’t even realize she was attempting to be funny.

Reputation: In Walburn, Mags is known to be reserved but reliable. If she says she’ll do something, she will. If she expects you to do something, then you better get to it. She has become friendly with some of the townspeople over the course of her stay, but maintains her stern exterior as a matter of job security- She’s often the one forcing drunkards and troublemakers into the small jail, and it’s much harder to do that if people like you too little, or too much. She tries to be tough but fair in her dealings when assisting the Sheriff. She won’t be intentionally cruel to an inebriated man who’s causing a ruckus in the middle of the night, but she will punch him in the diaphragm if he won’t cooperate.

Mags’ reputation as a midwife in Walburn is less solid, for a variety of reasons. Chiefly, there haven’t been a whole lot of babies to deliver, and even Mags’ best efforts can do little against the whims of nature. The Sheriff is particularly disparaging, likely because she will decline to do his patrols or otherwise assist him if she believes a mother may go into labor soon. She has explained that she would rather spend several days preparing for an easy labor then be called in last minute to a challenging one, but he maintains she is just skipping out on him. The notion of childbirth being ‘women’s work’ doesn’t help, and Mags knows that just because someone is willing to pay her for rabbits doesn’t mean they trust her completely- She could be a witch, practicing strange craft on vulnerable women, or something of that ilk. She has accepted she has little imagination for the horrors she might get up to, but that others have no such limits.

In other areas of the country, Mags likely has a variety of different reputations, depending on what actions she took at the time- Anywhere from a horsethief or murderer, to a quiet young lady with a respectable work ethic.

Social Status: As a mixed race woman nearing her thirties with no stable employment, no assets, and no marriage prospects, Mags is pretty much at the bottom of the social ladder. The further west she has traveled though, the more people are willing to overlook that, especially as she is usually willing to behave more respectably than those that outrank her.

School and Work

Education: Mags' father ensured she received a decent education, and she attended classes with the other children in her hometown. She also has some formal education in midwifery and 'on the job' learned experience in birthing livestock.

Occupation: Midwife, unofficial 'deputy' to the sheriff, forager, town lookout and whatever else needs doing.

Work Schedule: Mags works as needed in her variety of roles, and never really considers herself 'off the clock' as she is always looking for opportunities to earn food and shelter. She does normally take the lion’s share of the night watch shifts though, and patrols the borders of the town during the darkest hours of the night several days a week to frighten off any wildlife and respond to emergencies. As such, she tends to sleep through the morning.

Income: Mags saves most of the coin she earns to spend as needed, and prefers to trade her services for room and board as she is able. She often stays with the pregnant women she is helping in the week before and/or after a birth, and often crashes for the night in the town jail in exchange for helping the sheriff. She might catch game for the Bonney Inn for some bowls of whatever it is made into, or help bring in a harvest if she can eat dinner with the family.

Personal Connections

Immediate Family: Mags was born to an Ojibwe woman and a third-generation French/Polish settler named Louis Domagala. After her mother's death, her father remarried a woman named Beatrice and had two more children, a son and daughter.

Close Relatives: Mags has a maternal cousin named Ronald who occasionally lived with her family during her childhood and teen years. Since both she and Ron have white fathers, the patrilineal nature of Ojibwe society deems them 'white' and as Mags was raised in town by her father, she does not feel particularly connect to her mother's family. She has some aunts and uncles on her father's side as well, generally scattered around Wisconsin and the Great Lakes area.

Ancestors: -

Allies: Anyone willing to pay her honestly. The Walburn Sheriff, though she has little expectation that he would genuinely risk anything to help her.

Enemies: Anyone aware of the bounty on her, and certainly anyone looking to collect it. Mags is particularly wary of Beatrice’s brother (so, Mags’ step-uncle) as he was close to her father and was mayor at the time of Louis’ murder- She reckons he would be the one with the most motivation and ability to clamor for justice.

Friends: Mags probably has friends, but she generally remains unaware of this unless she is explicitly told.

Heroes: -

Rivals: In a professional sense, Mags considers both Doctor Alfenheimer and the newly arrived Doctor Vernon as competitors. She also sometimes takes day jobs some of the town men would rather have (or tries to take them, with different degrees of success), with lumberers or trappers or at the mill- But if she shows up sober and willing to work when they don’t, she reckons that’s on them. Most of the foreman for such temporary jobs were hesitant to hire a woman, but now she might even get asked to come out for a task that needs extra hands- Mags isn’t as strong as some of the more bulky men, but she knows how to use the muscles she does have, and she tends to be quite diligent. Plus she never drinks on the job, which has been appreciated.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 150-160 lbs, varies on how well fed she is- She is muscular but can lose that density quickly.

Nationality: American, Métis (term for mixed children of indigenous people and French settlers)

Ethnicity: Ojibwe on her mother's side, French/Polish on her father's side

Skin Color: Brown, gets a few shades darker/lighter depending on the season and how much time she's spending in the sun

Hair Color: Black, straight and long. Usually worn down or in a single pony tail.

Scars: Nothing terribly distinctive.

Tattoos and/or Piercings: None

Health

Health Status: Mags appears to be in decent enough health for the time period and her life style.

Addictions: -

Handicaps: Mags is epileptic, and occasionally suffers from both absence and tonic-clonic seizures. She is more likely to have seizures in periods of her life where she is under stress. Mags is also dyscalculic, which is similar to dyslexia but more specific to math and numbers.

Sexual characteristics

Gender: Female

Orientation: Mags is somewhat asexual, as she is not particularly interested in having sex and does not really perceive herself or others in a sexual way. She does appreciate the comfort and safety of sharing body warmth with someone she trusts, and has shared a bed or tent or blanket with both men and women, and occasionally engaged in sexual activity with them if they seemed interested. It would never occur to her to initiate sex, nor to weaponize her feminine characteristics.

Significant Other: None. Walburn is the longest place she has stayed in a long time, and even if she found someone willing to settle down with her, she isn't keen on the permanency of the 'settling down' part.

Personality

Public Persona: Mags presents herself as level headed and reserved, and someone who is competent and confident in the face of crisis. She could just as easily be described as stoic or as a bitch, and she does make an occasional show of strength in some way, to remind folks to leave her alone.

True Personality: Mags is an honest person, and the way she presents herself isn’t much of a pretense at all. She does come off a lot more confident than she usually is, though that isn’t an intentional deception- Mags doesn’t exactly emote a lot if she’s happy, and the same is true if she’s panicked. So even when she seems calm and collected, she may be worried and anxious, and have no idea what she’s doing. She’s also not quite as ‘tough’ as she appears, but she knows that being seen as vulnerable would be dangerous for her and so does put some effort into being a bit rough around the edges, especially among men and strangers.

Biography

Hortense Domagala had a fairly stable and unremarkable childhood growing up along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in what would eventually become the territory and state of WI. There was a long history of French settlement in the area and it wasn't completely unheard of for settlers to marry Ojibwe natives, and Hortense was not the only Métis child in her town. Her father (Louis Domagala) was a respected framer and carpenter, and insisted his daughter be treated the same as any other child in town. She attended a single room school during the weeks and went to church on Sundays, and spent her spare time foraging with her mother for food and medicinal plants and learning to track and hunt small game. The medicinal plants were traded with the town midwife, who would later take the girl on as an apprentice.

When Hortense was about 11 years old, her mother was lost in a snow storm, and after several fruitless searches that found only holes in the ice, she was presumed to have drowned attempting to cross a river on her way home. Hortense’s father Louis remarried before the next fall, to the younger sister of a good friend of his. Hortense stayed mostly at home for a few years, helping Beatrice with her infant son and then her daughter, though she did still attend what classes were available for a girl her age. (She did take remedial classes in English reading and spelling, as she did not do particularly well on her first go-round.)

Around the age of 14 or 15, Hortense began to have more and more free time. There was no longer any formal education available to her, Beatrice had become more comfortable with running the household, and it was clear Hortense did not possess the book-keeping skills that might have made her a valuable assistant to her father's business. She often spent time alone in the wilderness, catching game and foraging, and occasionally tagged along with a group of older men who worked as trappers and lumberers or other jobs as the seasons changed. The men were mostly neighbors and friends of her father’s and while she learned a lot from them, the amount of foul language and uncouth behavior she was learning seemed to gain the most notice.

With Beatrice's advocacy, Hortense’s father allowed her to begin working with the local midwife, which she enjoyed. It was satisfying work, and she liked the built-in excuse to leave town and visit homesteads in the area. It met her own desires for some independence, her father’s desires for her to be respectfully occupied, and her family’s need to have her home and available on a somewhat regular basis.

In the year after Hortense turned 19, things began to change. Though most of the Ojibwe people in the area had since been forced west to make room for settlement, there had been some level of respect for native peoples visiting the area for trade and travel, especially in the years after the Treaty of Prairie du Chien established peace between the Lakota and Ojibwe peoples. But the effects of the Removal Policy and further demands for land cessions in the Wisconsin territory made that relationship tense, and Hortense found that many of her neighbors seemed to begin treating her as a stranger. Ever increasing trade and travel from the Great Lakes brought new faces everyday, and the possibility of conflict lurked on every corner.

Hortense's maternal cousin, Ron, was tried in a local court for fighting with and causing fatal injuries to a white man- The visitor had been drunk and drugged and rowdy and threw the first punch, after Ron had asked him politely, for the third time, to unhand the frightened local girl. Because of the circumstances of the fight, and due to Louis Domagala's character witness on behalf of his deceased wife's nephew, Ron was determined to have acted in self defense. But he left town as soon as his name was cleared, and other Métis people in the area began to do the same.

Hortense and her father were known to have fought about whether Ron should have been invited to stay with the family, and argue even more about her future- Her mother had been her age when she'd married Louis, and Beatrice only a few years older. When Louis Domagala was found beaten and strangled and nearly dead in the woods outside town, he lived only long enough to name his eldest daughter as his attacker.

This didn't seem too shocking, to the public, even if they were initially surprised- Hortense had always been an odd one, hadn't she? She'd never quite fit in, even with everything her father had done for her. She'd always been jealous of Beatrice and her half-siblings, they reminded themselves- She'd stood next to them in church stiffly, probably hating them in silence for having replaced her own mother. And Hortense was like Ron, they reasoned. Prone to violence. He’d been so brutal to that poor old man he’d attacked, they recalled. How lucky, that the local girl hadn’t been a victim to his terrible rage. Though even Ron’s violence paled in comparison to what Hortense had done, they all agreed. Her own father, and she’d bashed his head in.

Hortense packed what little she could, and didn't look back when she left.

In the years of her early twenties, Hortense dropped her given name and began going only by 'Mags'. She worked her way south, stealing if needed and occasionally falling in with other folks who had few moral qualms about taking what they needed. She got food, supplies and spare change for delivering babies to mothers who might not otherwise be able to pay for the services of a doctor and took honest work on the rare occasion it was offered to her. She stayed nearly half a year in a widespread farming community in Illinois when an older gentleman whose stillborn grandson she had delivered offered her regular money to help him birth livestock on some of the larger farms. She'd known there was a small bounty on her for her father's death for awhile, but when word of a bounty hunter coming through the area looking for ‘some bastard squ*w from up north’, Mags didn’t stick around to find out if that meant her.

Mags had initially been heading south, as she knew heading towards less people also meant less opportunities to practice her most profitable trade. It was not a very big bounty after all, and she had hoped she’d put enough distance behind her….

But when that bounty hunter caught up to her in the days after leaving her place in Illinois- Well. Mags had a body to get rid of, and a strategy to reevaluate.

She began moving more quickly again, but going more intentionally west this time. She attached herself to as many traveling groups as possible, offering the protection and food granted from her weapons. She was lucky to travel with groups that had multiple guides- Folks with money were more likely to trust her if they also had more grizzled white men to watch their backs as well. Plus, she’d been bluffing a bit, about her experience in the wilderness- The woods of Wisconsin were different from the flat stretches of places like Missouri and Nebraska, and Mags was attentive to anyone willing to teach her anything at all about the new landscapes.

She got more than a few jobs this way, moving from group to group with the help of someone who would vouch for her, and she eventually got better at selling herself- The game she caught didn’t need to have buckshot picked out of it, for instance, and having a native woman riding beside them could actually reduce the chances of any natives trying to start something. (Provided they believed she wasn’t leading them into a trap, of course. She also is just barely fluent in Ojibwa and severely out of practice, but she learned not to admit to that.)

As towns got further and further apart, Mags stayed in each one longer, picking up odd jobs however she could until it came time to move on- Because there was a group she could travel with, or she’d made enough coin to supply herself for the journey alone, or just because she got antsy.

Mags has been in Walburn for about two years now, and it’s been about a decade since she left her hometown and roughly eight years since she buried that bounty hunter. Her first week in town, she shot at a rabid coyote that had gotten between some townspeople and the safety of the town- Technically, she’d only been aiming to spook the damn thing with the noise of the rifle, but after she was celebrated for killing it in one shot, she figured she could keep her intentions to herself.

The sheriff, not in his prime days, offered her a deal: She and her horse and her guns would patrol the outskirts of town on the nights he was meant to be doing it, and so long as it wasn’t occupied, she could crash in the jail to sleep once she was done. Mags took the offer, and eventually turned it into an additional allowance in return for helping him out with other tasks, just enough coin each day to cover a meal at the Bonney Saloon.

Mags is a bit surprised at how she’s settled into Walburn. She wasn’t exactly welcomed with hugs and handshakes all around, but she hasn’t faced too much disdain or hostility either, or at least not to her face, and not in comparison to past experiences. (Though there were some unfortunate incidents early on, that she suspects may have been intentional, instead of just accidents.) Once folks figured out she was willing to contribute to the town and wasn’t interested in starting trouble, they mostly let her be.

She still leaves town frequently, to visit the homesteaders she came out with initially, or going hunting or tend to a birth, sometimes for days or even a week at a time. The sheriff grumbles about it, but she tries to be prompt in telling him if she won't be around, and she’s reminded him that he’s certainly welcome to pay her more decently, so that she needn’t be looking for more work.

She has no immediate plans to leave Walburn, but is quite anxious about the arrival of the train. It was a small bounty, she reminds herself, from a far distance and many years ago. But all the same, she’s been copying down maps and considering where she might go next.

Other Information

1. Does Mags know your character, or have some connection to them? Maybe so! Either in Walburn or somewhere in the past, Mags has traveled a lot of distance and among a wide variety of people, and I’m always down to scheme up some collaborative backstory! Let me know.

Among the people already living in Walburn who Mags has presumably been interacting with for the last two years, I’ll probably base her interactions with them on how their personality is described in the character sheets- If they are friendly person, Mags will be kind towards them. (Or her attempts at kindness anyways, regardless of how the other character interprets that!) If they are described to be paranoid or hostile, then Mags will treat them with her more standard, cool neutrality. Or attempt to avoid interacting with them at all.

2. Generally speaking, I wrote most of this character sheet as though Mags were a modern day character, with a omniscient third person perspective- Which is to say, I tried not to use too many super racist terms or notions. But. In the context of Mags’ life and within the RP, terms and ideas that are now considered offensive were definitely more common and accepted, and Mags the character is not gonna be all that surprised by it. While it is true that a lot of multiracial folks and people of color found more acceptance on the Western frontier than in cities with centuries of preexisting social order, it’s also true that racism was hard to every completely escape, so. This is basically a very winding paragraph to say that A) just because Mags feels more comfortable in Walburn than she has in previous places, doesn’t mean she’s actually accepted there and B) I will probably censor some terms that I'm personally not comfortable with, but you do you, and let me know if you need clarification on anything I’ve written.

3. Yes, Mags’ appearance is HEAVILY based on Cara Gee’s character of Kat Loving in the show ‘Strange Empire’, which I have only seen some of a single episode of but decided it was A Look™. The screenshots below are taken from the following links:

Biography
Infancy:
Born into a slave farm in Alabama, Lemonte had to be raised by his mother, a servant to the rich farm owners, as his father worked the fields. He had a rough start; as a slave of that time, him and his family were not treated fairly. A tyrannical master oversaw all servants in their duties as they cleaned, made food, and were forced to work for hours on end.

Childhood: When Lemonte was 5, his father, a field worker, passed away to a heat stroke due to being overworked by the masters. Lemonte took the loss hard, but as always, his mother always found a way to comfort him, despite being at work nearly 12 hours a day. Lemonte was underfed, almost dehydrated, and struggled to get the food needed to survive yet another day.

Adolescence: At the age of 12, Lemonte started working as a slave. He started off with small duties, such as chopping wood or working around the house with the servants. This was near the end of the Civil War, 1839 to be exact, so hopefully he wouldn't have to endure this for much longer.

One night, he heard the overseer speaking with his wife. He said that he wasn't going to set his slaves free, even if it was made illegal. This infuriated Lemonte, and so he ran away in the middle of the night. Surprisingly, he wasn't caught, and has been on the run ever since. Recently, he killed a man to escape the law, but nobody but him and Edgar know.
