who's even worth the time?

Alright, i know a few of ya have been around the forums a bit, so could ya help me sift through the shit?  there is just soooo much crap on the wiki, i figure it's better to follow specific authors.  it's like... i konw if i see stillborn, haku, joseph, wordman, or screenjockey submit something, it's going to be balaned, interesting and placed at the appropriate artifact/hearthstone/MA/charm level.  the vast majority of submissions are deeply lacking in several of those areas, and i'm just friggin' bored and irritated at wading thru the jungle of suck.

so who on the wiki/WW forum/etc. is worth paying attention to?

I couldn't really help you there. I don't use the wiki because the interface is counterintuitive and it's next to impossible to find anything.

I'm hoping that our system has a somewhat higher level of quality, but it's going to take time to match the amount of content.

I don't use the Wiki either.  I just don't like the interface, and it's hard as heck for me to find anything.

Here's a hint though: 90% of anything is crap.  Be it movies, books, porn, or user submitted content.  Methinks you're just going to have to slog through it, or just find folks that you trust, and roll with their stuff. Or you could just message Haku or anyone else whose stuff you like, and get their opinion.

So who on the wiki/WW forum/etc. is worth paying attention to?
Only pay attention to me. All others are wrong.

Seriously, though, I do read the wiki even though I think it is generally organized in the exact way that makes it the most difficult to find interesting stuff. It tends to be extremely author centric, rather than reader centric.

Generally any of the crunch relays are worth paying attention to, if only because they help you design stuff. The LunarsAreFine pages being developed right now have really helped me out. I've been trying to kickstart the idea of challenges, which I think have potential, but they haven't caught on that well. The Solars vs. Lion pages taught me way more than I thought they would. Some (though not all) of the characters posted aren't bad either, if you need a quick NPC, particularly the Raksha. The list of demon souls has been strangely useful.

I almost never look at the personal pages, focussing more on group efforts. As far as commentary, I tend to pay attention to (but not necessarily agree with): BillGarret, DeathBySurfeit, TonyC, FrivYeti, TheMyriadOfShades (particularly his power combat examples), Shataina, FourWillowsWeeping, Voidstate and some others.

Oh! Also, change the skin as soon as you can. The default black makes you hate it more, for some reason.

Actually, I fine the exalted wiki to make alot of sense structurely... it's definately an author-intenstive layout as opposed to a reader layout. Howveer, it just takes time to familiarize yourself to the system and structure of the wiki.

Also, I highly recommend that you CHANGE the interface / skin of the wiki. Personally, I find the black hard on my eyes, which is why I use a personal interface... ^_-

To edit the interface, go to the preferences, located at the top of every page. Or click on this link. http://exalted.xi.co.nz/wiki/wiki.pl?action=editprefs

Now, scroll all the way to the bottom of the preference page. You should see "StyleSheet URL".

You need to put in a custom style sheet. If you want to use the style sheet that I personally use. put the url below into the box. It's -designed- to be extremely work-safe / camoflagued.

Code:
http://www.geocities.com/ifurita_76.geo/Exalted/custom_wiki.css

Or you can check out the other custom style sheets at the wiki that Wordman pointed out.

I would suggest you wander about the wiki after that and get used to it first, Wordman's suggest on where to wander about is quite sound. ^_-

I absolutely prefer the way this forum is layed out, it just doesn't have the quantity of info yet. hell, i like this forum better than the olf compendium.   wiki is like youe siblings, even if ya dont like 'em, you're kinda stuck with 'em.  stillborn, ya did good.  wordman - i looked over your exalted webpage and was much impressed.  i was (this is going to sound fuckin stupid, i know) inspired!  i do think you have a great sense of the game.  haku, jakk, you are the lawyers of the rules.  i've never been confused about a rule after you guy's cleared it up.  btw, congrats haku for getting, what, like 3 or 4 Ma in the best of.

in general i find all of your inputs valuable. its the res tof the 15 year old munchkins that kinda make me need a breather to read some quality work.

thanks for the replies.

cheers.

Thank you :)

For anyone who read the Lunar book and scratched their head and said "huh?", LunarsAreFine will try to answer questions about how to use the Lunars best, and how best to use their Charms.  I've seen some of your comments, and I hope that if you have more topics you want expounded on, that you'll post :)

The only thing I don't have a lot to say about is Lunars + Fair Folk, since I don't own that book.

Also, my name's got two T's. :)
