Hello, prospective partners! I've been screaming in the void with my love for Dragon Quest for far too long and I'm hoping to find a partner who matches my vibe. I'm currently looking for RP based on the anime and manga series Dai no Daibouken / Adventure of Dai (Avan prequel included) and Dragon Quest X, aka the MMO that's only available in English via fan translation. My brain sure knows how to pick its fixations.
- I'm most interested in writing with partners over 21 years old because I feel the ceaseless march of time and I'm not sure I'd be super comfy with anyone younger than that. Absolutely no minors. Sorry.
- PM and off-site RP (as long as it's somewhere fairly amenable to RP and private) are options. I'm shy and usually don't like RPing in public unless I'm doing a group RP so threads are a no-go.
- I only write in third-person perspective. Past and present tense are fine!
- I'm LGBT+ friendly and you must be too, even if we end up writing the most vanilla M/F thing imaginable.
- I've never really understood or cared for literacy scales. I usually write two to five paragraphs per post depending on what's going on, general inspiration level, so on and so forth. I don't ask for mirror or match posting but I do want a partner who can average at least a paragraph to three paragraphs. No one-liners, please.
- I write Canon + OC or Canon + Canon stories, romantic and platonic. OC + OC has never been my cup of tea because the blorbos from my shows are most of what draws me to RP.
- It's been so long since I've done an active RP I don't even know what my post frequency would be anymore. I used to be able to average about one a week at minimum, with more than one per day sometimes if I was really feeling it. I'm assuming, but not certain, I can still match that output. That said, I'm not a rapid-fire writer.
- I'm doubling friendly and can play side characters as needed and would like for you to do the same. Doubling is not required by any means.
Now that the guidelines are out of the way, here's some info about what I'm actually looking to RP.
Adventure of Dai
I'd love to flesh out the lore and worldbuilding of the Dai series, potentially adding concepts from other Dragon Quest media. I love this series so much but always found the worldbuilding aspect of it pretty barebones, understandable because that's never been its focus but what bones they do give us seem pretty tasty to chew on. As for other DQ media, I'm most familiar with I-VI, Builders 1, X, and XI but am slowly going through the rest and can research if needed. I also love AUs and crossovers (both with DQ and other media).
I'm mostly interested in stories involving Avan, Hadlar, Popp, Roka, Flora and Zamza, as those are my favorites, but I love too many from this series. If I haven't mentioned your favorite, don't hesitate to ask me about em.
I prefer to plot with my partner rather than dump something fully formed into their lap, but here are some snippets of potential ideas to help start things off.
- An Avan x OC RP where I write the OC for some self indulgent fun. I have a potential isekai angle in mind, drawing inspiration from classic isekai such as Escaflowne, Leda, El Hazard, etc. No reincarnation or OP skills, more focus on a journey of discovery in a strange new world.
- Something expanding on the Romos tournament, its aftermath, and Zamza, diverging from canon.
- A post-apoc (in Dai world) plot centering around Avan.
- If we do Canon x Canon romance, I ship Avan with Flora, Hadlar, and Roka. I'm also fond of Hym x Zamza, even though those two characters never meet in canon.
- Let's brainstorm for more potential ideas!

Gonna be honest here, I mostly just want self-indulgent Eduardo + OC with a side of fleshing out Zeniath. Could also do something romantic and make it Canon x OC if we figure out a way to make it work with the existing Hot Mess (affectionate) going on with Dorothea's fixation on Eduardo and Eduardo's fixation on Lumeria. Along these lines, I'd be down for playing either Dorothea or Lumeria in a canon x canon romance.
Other than that, uhhhh... yeah I don't expect to find anyone who knows this game because I haven't had any luck finding partners for something that's way more accessible. So if by some chance you do know the game or this ad piques your interest enough, just let me know and we can discuss other potential plots.
