I'm not sure if this is really a "Fandom" request or not but lately I have been craving to write some things in the style of the universe that I first fell in love with: Classical City of Heroes. Yes, I do know that Homecoming became an official thing but I don't care for the community at large; I would much rather to write with likeminded people 1x1 or in a small group. Plus we won't have to suffer with the tiny text limits that the game chatboxes have and we can use Discord & DMs to make much better progress.
Personally, I tend to write in sprints where I can easily make 2-3 posts per day for a few days and then I have 1-2 days off where I am busy with other things. I've ever believed that writing should flow; neither trickle nor drown. You can get the actions of a character across with a single sentence but this is not enough to convey the emotion of the deed and the scene. Conversely, a post two pages of text to walk across the room drowns out the important meaning in the scenes. I guess this is a fancy way of saying that post length should be dynamic, in my opinion: And this is how I try to write.
I strongly perfer OCs, especially since they were ever the focus and I have a couple of my own that I can offer for ideas, but I'm always interested to at least hear out the ideas of other people. Please note these are somewhat hasty summaries, I like to write very deep characters with lots of quirks, flaws and dreams that can't possibly all fit here:
C-LYNX (22, Female, Bi) - Hacker by trade, few ever see their face; and even some who do aren't sure it was really them. A reclusive individual who has appeared on the wanted lists of both the PPD and Arachnos, they are something of a wildcard in the uphevals of Paragon City. Though 'Lynx' might not have any-human abilities of her own, in the modern world Information is a power all of its own.
-A scarred girl with a scarred past, Lynx is a collection of traumas and emotion twisted into a genius intellect for coding and algorithms. She is physically weak and often must depend upon others for her own safety. Perhaps a young hero seeks to turn Lynx back toward the "right" side of the digital fence? Maybe a villian promises her a place of safety in their organization? Or potentially they meet another Rogue with whom they can become more-than-friends.
The Brickstown Tiger (19, FTM, Pan) - Vigilantes can be found in a few parts of Paragon City but there are few in the region that houses one of the largest prisons in the world. The oppressive amount of police patrols are matched only by the number of low-class apartments and Crey Corporation warehouses; which would clearly never do anything illicit...right? This doesn't seem to be the case, considering the deeds of the Brickstown Tiger, a young mutant hero with superior healing abilities that has sent Crey and the Freakshow packing on a few occasions.
-A pariah on several levels, 'Ray' is the child of a Native American who's mutant "gifts" have given her some feline features and rather rapid healing abilities. Yet her attitude is far too rebellious to obey official registrations or join "some stuffy capes-and-masks organization". This leaves her with a generally good heart but a complete lack of purpose - and place. Maybe she makes fast friends with another young metahuman from Paragon? Perhaps some other Vigilantes offer to take her along on their next adventure? Or possibly even she makes an enemy of some specific foe, things twisting into a rival-romance.
If you have your own ideas or insights, please send a DM; I'd love to hear them. I might add some more to this in the future but hopefully this is enough to garner some interest?
