The gal haunting your dreams
intro
how far i’ll go
lydia the bard
overview.
LThe country of Narabia has been in a state of hell. Nothing’s been the same since the crown prince, heir to the throne, got either really pissed off or really high and shot his entire family dead two years ago. He himself would never live to reap what he had sown. Some say he committed suicide. Some say he was shot by one of the guards going against protocol. Either way, there was no heir left to the throne, and so with that…the Narabian monarchy crumbled.
He lies in Hell, being eternally tortured for what he had done. But his family enjoys a monotonous, albeit blissful, life up in the heavens above. But they want the truth as much as any dead person murdered by their own family does. And so they try to turn back time, metaphorically speaking, so see what they had done wrong. If they did do anything wrong. And it’s a journey none of them want to take.
This entire RP is essentially “in media res”/a flashback to the lives of the now deceased royals as they walk through their entire lives. I’m open to doing this in chronological order from when the king was crowned to the massacre, or we can do it in a non-linear fashion, whatever everyone wants to do. I’d also love to see some side commentary scenes as well in the afterlife, both silly/SOL and emotional as well. I just got the idea for this after listening to Lydia the Bard’s villain song cover of “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, highly suggest you check that out!

the heir
closed
The eldest child and older son of the king and queen. He should be significantly older than his younger siblings, say late twenties/early thirties. Known for being a loud, boisterous, arrogant man with a deep passion for firearms and being a general asshole, the country generally approved of him and aspired to see him as their king one day. His siblings had a complicated relationship with him, as he could be physically and emotionally abusive, as well as aid them and shower them with praise. But no commoner has no idea what happens behind closed doors. Some say it was the fact that the monarchy was becoming symbolic, and that he would have little to no power as king. Some say it was a feud between him and his mother over his choice of future queen…who knows?
the spare
closed
the baby of the family. The king and queen’s younger son. 16/17 currently, should be two years younger than his sister. A seemingly innocent, reserved boy who in his childhood looked up to his older brother with a naive wonder, but years of emotional and physical abuse at his hands (implied) changed that. Compared to his brother, he was a lot more quiet and polite, and his mother doted on him as a child. Some in the country whispered he would be a better king, but those dissents were quickly silenced. He was known to be on the fence about his brother’s marriage issues…but according to his brother, being on the fence is still being against him, so he was not spared either.
the queen
open
the queen consort of narabia, mother to the heir, spare, and princess, and wife of the king. A cold-hearted, vicious woman who spent more than a decade training the heir to be the absolute epitome of perfect, with seemingly no remorse for it. Known for her calculatedness, but also her extrovertedness, many, including those in her own family, believe she had a strong influence/hold on the king. She was also known to be against the decision to make narabia a constitutional monarchy. Doted on the spare as a child. Was known to be viciously against the heir’s plans to marry the lover due to family rivalries and blood feuds. Despite this, the spare and the princess still believe that she had a heart down there.
the king
open
the king regent of narabia, father to the heir, spare, and the princess, and husband of the queen. A reserved, quiet, contemplative man who had no business with this job. After his father, the king before him, suddenly died of a mysterious illness, he was quickly married off to the queen and forced into this role. He prefers to let the queen do all of the political and diplomatic stuff, while he handles everything else. Some say he’s on drugs. Some say he’s dying. The rumors weren’t good. Despite this, he was worshipped as a god in narabia, and no one would dare to say anything else. He doted on the princess as a child, and refused to let her fall into the arranged marriage trap (though she partially did anyways). Was not for or against the heir’s marriage plans, but was upset by the heir’s anger over not being a “true king”.
the princess
closed
the middle child of the family. The king and queen’s only daughter. Should be 18/19 currently, should be 2 years older than the spare. A truly rebellious, devil-may care, prankster-like girl who was known for her wit and sharp tongue. She may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch when it comes to empathy, however. However, unlike her mother, she is not outright malicious, just not necessarily as willing to conform to normal royals’ life as the other four were. Was doted on her father, the king, as a child. Known to be an avid fan of the visual arts, especially painting. Got married off a year or two ago at her mother’s behest, to her father’s dismay, but she genuinely loved her husband. Was known to be vocally against the heir’s marriage plans, along with her husband, and stood up to him on several occasions. She loved her brother, but enough was enough.
the lover
closed
the heir’s lover/fiancé/girlfriend/you can decide. Coming from a extremely wealthy family, one that was supposedly even wealthier than the royals, from a rival nation, the lover’s life had always been easy. She had it all, servants to do it for her, her family to dote on her, her brain to match the heir’s intellectual prowess. An extroverted, bubbly, if a bit ditzy girl who always strived to be a hopeless romantic, the lover thought she hit the jackpot with the heir…until she started noticing his abusive patterns. He would drink, he always had guns on him, and it frightened her. Since both families were strictly against it, they dated in secret. But all’s never well that ends well. She fled the day after the massacre, and never looked back.

rule one.
Please be respectful. Just always say this. If you’re homophobic, racist, xenophobic, etc, DNI! I am a genderqueer lesbian and really don’t want to deal with any of that here. That also includes no drama OOC. IC, go crazy. But please…let’s all be nice to each other, alright?
Discord will be used for OOC if enough people interested have it. If not, then we can use RPN. I’ll set up a poll once we get enough people interested. Discord is preferred, but I totally get it if not.
rule two.
Please comment down below on what character you would like to reserve. The spare is closed, I will be playing him. I’ll then update it on here. HOWEVER, if more than one person is interested in a role, then both or more can submit applications, and I will choose the best one based on my vision for the RP. If you don’t get selected, don’t worry! You can still apply for another role, or can do smaller roles as well! Just DM me your idea before you do so.
Yes, I understand that this RP may sound familiar. A lot of media has a ruling family massacre, and those who know me well know exactly which massacre this is based off of. But no real-life surnames, please! And please do not make a Prince Harry/Prince William/you get the idea knock-off. We’re trying to distance ourselves from history here for the most part.
rule three.
This will be a lit-novella RP. 5 or more paragraphs is required. Quality over quantity, though posting at least twice a week is preferred. Please DM me if you get bored/don’t have the time or otherwise would not like to participate. Believe me, I won’t be upset, IRL life comes first.
This will be a 17+ RP. Yes, I will be allowing 17-year-olds into this, but this will be a mostly adults-only RP. Sorry, but the subject matter as well as the vague real-life historical basis for this only makes me comfortable doing this with people of that age or older.
