Where to find spells?

Out of curiousity, where would Solar Exalts find spells to learn?  The Black Treatise costs Resources 4, but it only has five spells.

Sidereal Mentors, DB Allies, spirits, demons, exploring ancient ruins, stealing grimoires from other sorcerors...

It's fun to pick on them by leaving an incomplete spell laying around somewhere to entice them to go searching for the rest of it.


Ruins are my favorite place to leave spell books.  Just remember to keep the spells under a good limit.  Just because they can cast Solar spells doesn't mean they can find any, since most spirits, etc. don't have any decent information on this level of sorcery.


A good guess for spell sources would be:


Terrestrial Spells -> Medium Power (Essence 4+) Spirits, Common Sorcery Books, Tombs, hidden Ruins, DB Allies, and DB Libraries, Cult of Illuminated


Celestial Spells -> Powerful (Essence 7+) Spirits, Rare Libraries (The Heptagram, Sidereal Libraries, the Palace Sublime, and possibly the Cloister of Wisdom), Tombs, First Age Ruins, Cult of Illuminated


Solar Spells -> The Unconquered Sun, , Cult of Illuminated has scattered information, rare Solar Tombs, and scattered First Age Ruins(Rathess, The Invisible Fortress, etc.)
 
the tombs within nexus could contain info for solar circle sorcery, and first age Lunars might too, after all they were married to the solars, they may not be able to cast it, but that dosent mean they didnt take a peek once in awile, not to menchion if you really that desperlty wanted it, the fae might have some information
 
From scraps and rumors?  Raiding tombs?  Libraries? The hidden troves of the Great Houses?  Through contacts in the Guild?  Being smart, sharp and morally flexible? Doing favors for Gods? Spirits? Binding up Demons and forcing them to spill the beans? Searching out mentors? Stealing from enemies? Stealing from Allies?  Just plain being a right bastiche and raiding anyone you think might have some goodies?  Sacrificing Mortal Thaumaturges to your Demonic masters?


You play RPG's.  Think man.
 
I'd say terrestrial sorcery is pretty much everywhere an educated character wants to look.  I don't tend to require my sorcerer to find a terrestrial spell...


Celestial spells he has to find somewhere to learn them from, but we tend to find books on it, and we have just done the invisible fortress so he picked up a handy dandy tome of lore there.


As for solar spells, I'd put at LEAST a session of work into each spell he learns, maybe even a short story.


In my opinion sorcery is wherever the ST wants it to be.  If you want your circle to have a certain solar spell, maybe the imp who has control of the ruling family's hearth just managed to memorise that spell when he used to guard the exact same fire in the first age for his Solar master.  Who knows?!  The exalted world is so screwed up sorcery is pretty much anywhere you want to look for it.
