TV & Film What's your favorite movie and why?

Ghostly Presence
The title is self explanatory, children. What is your favorite movie and the reason it is your favorite?

Personally, mine is a tie between "Bridge to Terabithia" and "The Sound Of Music". "Bridge to Terabithia" because it was sad but I loved the sadness for some reason, also my bestfriend was obsessed with Josh Hutcherson at the time and we watched it five bazillion times. With "The Sound Of Music" my grandmother had it and put it in for me when I was younger and it was my first exposure to musicals, that I now love.

What are yourrrrss?

Id say either the dark tower or John wick the reasoning for the dark tower in the movie they are able to truly make you hate the villain along with the action and gunplay witch in my opinion are great it also adds the story of a boy who lost his father but gains a new one which I can personally connect with.John wick however showed another side of me, this side is my protective and violent side. John wick captures just the right amount of action and bloodshed with a dash of comedy, adding a dose of fast paced action sequences and you've got yourself a good film

Secretariat.
Just because I used to ride gallop before I got too busy with school, and it just gets to me every time, because I can really feel myself with it. A woman trying her best despite all the odds against her. The feeling, smell, and excitement from the track..

And also: The Lion King, because who doesn't love that film? Childhood hello!

solaris (1972)
"tarkovsky uses length and depth to slow us down, edging us out from the velocity of our lives, to enter a zone of reverie and meditation."

Casablanca (1942)

In my opinion:

  • It has the all-time best dialogue ever written, people still quote the dialogue to this day.
  • A good, moving dramatic plot that does not stall.
  • It has excellent and flawed characters.
  • A long list of legendary actors and actresses who portray those well-written characters so well.
  • A rousing fantastic soundtrack.

"Of all the gin joints of all the towns in the world, she walks into mine"

(Although I still feel one of the best wordless moments of the movie is Sam's look when Ilsa walks into Rick's the first time)

This is a tough one, but one of the ones that is definitely up there is Hot Fuzz. It's a brilliant movie, with great directing, and when you watch the other two in the Cornetto Trilogy, it's even funnier.

I'm also a fan of Snatch, which, once again, is hilarious, and I quite like the characters Sol and Vince. Any of Brad Pitt's scenes with other characters are also really good.

Spirited Away, before anything else. I love all Ghibli but Spirited Away has a special place in my heart, since it was the first one I saw.
