I hope you understand my title guys! Here is a little explanation about my concern....Me and my co-players were performing to build a character with mechanical benefits, storytelling potential, and ways to deepen our character's personality and connection to the world. So here is my concern starts....actually what type of backgrounds are influencing most in latest 2024 version to get all those aspects in building my character so what background should i select from dnd 5e all backgrounds list. Please share your thoughts guys ...your response means a lot to me guys.

I found them restrictive. My group completely ignores the fluff and just picks them for the mechanical benefits.

That's fine when it comes to thematic way the backgrounds like acolyte and outlander are good picks for my group what would say about these two backgrounds please provide your valuable suggestions on them either it could mechanically or thematically...thank you!

Avolyte is awesome but a little restrictive. I tend to play many religious and cultist characters, so I would allow the player to get Magic Initiate from the Warlock and druid spell lists as well if it makes sense. Warlocks could be from an evil cult, and druids could be from a witche's coven, so its nice to give them the option.

Outlander was tailor-made for barbarians and rangers, but with some magic instruments for the hell of it. Strange, but very vanilla otherwise. But... isn't outlander from 2014 DnD? Its not one of the new ones.

What kind of character are you looking to make? Thats the thing we should know to be able to help you.

A good take on a traditional Outlander, but there should be so many twists. apart from the typical survivalist or wilderness-dwelling nomad, the version should be focused on a more scholarly type—someone who likes to visits different places like nomad i mean they should travel from place to place, gain knowledge and ancient relics. The races must be Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, or even Kobold and of course the Wizard, Bard, or Ranger should be the classes to use building this type of a characer. I hope it is possible to do with these weird requirements.

Then I would actually suggest you take Scribe, and just pick things like Survival and Athletics with the feat. Maybe Alchemist/Herbalism kit to make medicine, since you need to be able to heal yourself while alone in the wilderness.

Its very versatile.

Of course and my DM suggested us dnd 5e all backgrounds list from this particular website and he said about scribe "The written word has been your domain, either copying tomes, crafting government documents, or producing your own texts. Your eye for detail and ability to catch errors and mistakes is finely honed." So i think my DM would be the correct for our game as a master thanks to our DM and i'm thankful to you as well for replaying back to back for my queries.
