Cuz Gaia was prime real estate for that sort of bullshit. I literally had someone join a chat once specifically to say my character was a Mary Sue and guilt the GM into making me change that character. Then the person never returned. Literally made like two comments and the GM felt obligated to make one of the oldest members of the group rewrite their entire character. Unsurprisingly that roleplay went nowhere.

Other times the GM tried this “other people have messaged me about your character” Bullshirt. I’m still iffy on whether or not I think that was code for them just not wanting me in the roleplay OR their were petty as bastards that didn’t like something about my character and had to tattle to the boss.

I hate that kind of passive aggressive bullshit. If you don’t like something, just tell me outright. I might disagree but I’m not gonna get mad.

yup, prolly should have specified but I was kinda debating if I should mention people who think of their writing so highly and never do anything meaningful with it and just kinda cowardly huddles behind obscurity when faced with criticism.

• I know having characters in a setting have one source of superpowers for every character might've seemed groundbreaking in 1987 but it's 2020 and you'll need to do more to stand out in a post-post-X-Men movie, Post-Wild Cards, post-My Hero Academia world where it's the standard for superpower RPs on the site more or less

I mean there was a time like that on another site beyond just one RP, then the two guys doing it one I somehow ended up getting as a friend, and the other twat fucked off to what I assume is the 33rd hotdog dimension. Not really pertinent to this one. This was a case of someone not liking my appearance for things primarily than writing itself. They being influenced to bring me up, because I just used an anime picture for some and from the metro fandom for the rest due to what I was. Since the player in Moscow died by the hands of a legitimately OP power, and I was joining anyway and they were metro, I made up my own storyline and such but with the past before the previous player's union existed. Due to time, I just booted up the metro wiki and Google to use appropriate images fitting this lore of the land, and for references of what I make myself after. I will not describe every single thing if I don't have the time to do so.

How the conversation started was a derailment of whatever general about the RP a few guys were talking about before. IE "I think if I did this then this event may have been beneficial to us" "I want to change my map color, this one is hard on my eyes" etc normal stuff. It was derailed, though technically rerailed to a real topic by this "Karen." Nickname. It essentially was about story development and how much they've built themselves up. Then they say to then look over there at our direction. "Shadow" agrees that the Greenlanders are too over the top and cringy with their mech spam, blaze luminous lumanati wadadadeeda shields, and OG geass ripoffs. Not even trying to add a form of original spin, literally just reused a fandom in technology, name, flag, character names and appearances. We all agree it is indeed that bad. Then Karen brings up "Why does kaz get off free?" After the RP creator puts up a grammar meme for an unrelated ongoing conversation.

Because I didn't bother writing descriptions on every little detail for the rest of things I used and towards the start didn't have much time, I used anime pictures for reference which are the fastest and easiest things to get off Google. Karen absolutely hates that and if brought up, will make you know it most of the time. Combined with during that time being my own attempt of originalization for what was available to me and using fandom images, such as the bullet lighter and clipboard just to follow the lore set for the country by the union player, that was also a thing for them at that time. Because they hate anything anime or what they even remotely think is anime even, another player interested in that medium felt discouraged but liked this "Karen". Therefore, rather than ignoring it or not degrading themselves, makes the statement "So in a way Kaz, you're forgiven." After the greenlander comment. That's the whole conversation before it went dark and a new topic happened. And it has no need to ever exist. It degrades them as it makes them a ultra hypocrite the likes of which don't show up on charts, an attempt to get in good with Karen that ultimately fails, as well as influenced enough by someone online to be concerned of ever remotely mentioning their likes without feeling like they will set off an atomic bomb. We have an anime room. The most active was deleted for inactiveness because "Shadow" doesn't even admit to liking it openly anymore even. Except at times when Karen doesn't have access or knowledge of another server, making it seem like they axed it out of their life online. I view this as negative because someone shouldn't have to keep their preferences, likes, etc to themselves because of someone else existing.

But since the gaia rubix cube was brought up I suppose I should share my own experience. Gather around kids, it is time for the Kazami Christmas special. I'll summarize it since I've detailed dozens of paragraphs to others already. Though parts of this can be found in others posts like what that one "did a RP you ever join in end?". Essentially before that community and my second joined RPN we were on a fallout themed site, I abbreviate it SB because towards the end I hated everything about that site. Let alone what they do to people they didn't like. [Another site was created at some point to make their own roleplay forum, and these assholes tried taking it down. So we all sorta just stayed there for a few more months.]

This community was formed of all the active roleplayers on the site, we all created random threads on the forum that mimicked interactive CSes but standalone. While a number were used in roleplays, they mostly were their own thing. There was a redline, the dunmeri PDDRP, the twin lamps, the new California republic, the enclave, etc. Setting and all didn't matter. When the first RP was made after the trend started, mostly to see what they'd do, some reused the factions in them. This usually by scratch with a legit CS as will probably be mentioned again, and the faction threads/page unrelated to the RP and CS threads were standalone and some were memes. IE, cult of a flow. Literally just followers of rap. They would randomly visit people on the website and welcome them or invite them to rap duels, in of itself in rap or rhyming. Therefore, further cemented as to why it cannot be treated as legitimate or even as a CS. It's more like a steam/Facebook group but in the form of a thread. This will be pertinent later.

After the first SBWW died is where it kind of started. Unlike my page where I was allied to Caesar's legion and the institute, fallout factions in the RP, but far more unrelated and TES there too, I wasn't a nation at all. I was three dudes that just walked around trying to interact with people and ended up having to wait like three posts to have a response. The RP went fine itself but after it died some people posted ooc IC out of boredom. A certain someone, which I probably can't name without maybe breaking a rule in the process, thought it funny to obliterate me and I think another. Since it was after the RP ended and was known as ooc, nobody really cared. But after all the shit IRL in 2014 still hanging with me I cared quite a lot to question it even. But it didn't last long.

Some people though were irked that I treated their properties like we weren't allied though. This is because again, our pages were not dedicated to a RP even when we created it after, and every time we would either make a new CS or some would copy and paste parts of the page. Even if magically now being canon, they would be ooc more so. It wasn't until the reboot that a problem would arise. Unlike the passive aggressiveness you experienced to bully a probably incompetent gm to wipe you and maybe others too, the new controllers were direct megadouches. I think my page was made fourth or fifth after some of everyone else made theirs and set the trend. We all had positions for people even if they didn't roleplay, flaunted member numbers, had a variety of anthems, etc. Mine was based on all I had to pretty much deal with life at that point, which was a RP adaption of a personal thing I was writing. Just writing anything was good enough of a vent, so it wasn't some cringy "Boohoo all hope is lost!" Shenanigans.

It was created by I think "rey". The uberdouche totalitarian/authoritarian with a fallout fetish. What happened is besides also being a fallout lunatic and believing our RP should be fallout based rather than no setting beyond an apocalypse having happened, thus would effectively wipe 90% of everyone and leave the enclave, NCR, institute, Vegas, and brotherhood, out of those, my guys, PDDRP, twin lamps then the gregory, redline, and a few others. Instead, they miraculously somehow got some people like diesel of the redline to completely rewrite their lore. Their redline used to be based on metro and they came to the USA. After? Some random ass Russo-american socialists from a random trainstop hellhole. While literally the redline originally, they had a heavily originalized spin to it. Now they were lore-broken generic trash. What happened to me when the reboot happened was they took my thread like it was an official CS, and despite my real CS being more than fine, they didn't like it at all. I had to negotiate the removal of shit I didn't even have to begin with.

They said I was OP, mind you I was going to be 51,000 or so dudes scattered about in dulce new mexico, that used a WWI theme. Such as the rifles, but beyond appearance some of the under dozen vehicles would be more sophisticated than their actual counterparts. I didn't use machine guns. They were to find or build a home in that region rather than start with one. Utilizing a squad tactic, riflemen were planned to fire in a form of sequence to mimic one. Whereas my page was basically a joke meme with a roblox space station to top it all off. In the RP the redline repeatedly nuked the PDDRP, machinegun spam, and super robots. They demanded I fix it. Well how do you fix something damn near underpowered to everyone else? I in the end was forced to not have any weapons, come from the fucking sky, and have a few hundred to care for instead in the middle of a barren desert. Everyone else at minimum had 100,000 people and the highest was several million. The redline was that latter. During negotiating I wanted to be with my friends so I "gave in" to demands impossible to do.

I was capable of however negotiating for a one shot rifle and pistol. Apparently, it had to be a energy weapon. So I had to act in public that I did have energy weapons when asked. I marched off immediately rather than a shorter build up to the mountains in about two or four posts, had a firefight against aliens, and established the base. I didn't have guns anymore though for most, so I literally never went outside besides with three people at a time. I through the help of other players like Vegas economic zone was able to occupy the capitol, a random vault in Vegas, a few camps around dulce, and I think my leader illegally lived in some random dude's attic in the NCR ruled by the player fucking me. Though that one was a conscious choice. I was hoping to build a shop and slowly build up an economy that way, since Vegas wasn't bothering to buy the medical equipment I was making. Towards around the later 100 page mark like maybe the 70s+, I helped Vegas defend their nuclear silos and such against tunnelers and a redline invasion. This was successful, but the redline character jumped off a skyscraper to avoid me and the other guy capturing her. She somehow survived and fucked off to a cave. I however sent teams into the silos to try examining then dismantling the nuclear warheads. They were also helpful for spare parts for the future vertibird fleet that'd get me to the capitol building and defend myself. It was only with the FEZLV/Vegas I actually got guns I could use and keep without discarding. They focused more on securitron spam, and had several gunshops so it was assumed there was a weapon excess that could bought or obtained. Another issue was during negotiating just to get in, I was hoping to stay out of trouble by removing more shit and preventing myself from doing actions or going certain places IC. So I didn't have a lot to do.

The real issues didn't start appearing until after it ended, though several jabs and shit happened when the CS thread was made regardless if I were to join. Still pissed at that bitch, I sided with "gade" since they were the most similar to my position. The ending was horrid. The redline just because originally being Russian meant "rey" wanted to reenact WWII. Literally, they made the dunmeri German to fit their end storyline. Practically, everyone not the NCR or redline got screwed, with exception to Vegas which was ignored.

We all hated that so Gade made a new epilogue we canonized. This unsurprisingly tilted rey fifty times over. The trends didn't end nor were subtle. As our series continued, these and other trends repeatedly tried being propped up. However the effect on me it was worse here, and would be the foundations of how they would eventually piss everyone else off. Quite literally again, rey targeted my creation to a fundamental and personal level. Making absurd assumptions, imposing projections onto it and eventually me, and culminating into outright demonization of the idea. She spread these across the RP community, and her propaganda was believed. In not even a month passing Rey, another gm playing a brotherhood sect, the Vegas player at one point but tame, redline player, and far more would just go on to treat me like some OP super demon. Rey is the only person I have ever hated. And they acted as if after this, we could just be friends years later.

Rey themselves had a semi-crusade over it for many months at the least, and rather then give into the depression amplified, I rather utilized it for a more spiteful purpose. I dedicated every RP, every capable moment to fucking with them equally. I stopped writing my project and only kept writing my faction in RPs, as I wouldn't stand for what I believed was them winning. It wouldn't be until near the last SBWW RP on site that others would finally have met similar targeting and also be pissed to some extent at rey. The Vegas player was the closest to me in effect, but the PDDRP by gade was closest in factional effect. They however didn't rant or yell at rey. Rey also hated the globalization beyond the USA, vehicles, etc, encouraging us to do it more often. It was more fun, anything 1% fun is better than a scene for scene shot of following a totalitarian's dream. Every RP in canon by that point was made by Gade, while every RP not made by him died on arrival or didn't get past page five. In the third/fourth RP, I had what I originally wanted but on a larger scale. My own faction of 51,000+ in dulce, the direct capital, Columbia, Vietnam, Morocco, and more. Made stable in population by random natives alongside mine. When rey said nobody to build vehicles, I built the super galaxy cargo plane, and either some A7Vs mixed with French tanks I never used, or a random prototype or drawn design. I also had a small 3 man plane for communications, and a wooden wagon with a motor on it. Others soon followed since enforcement action failed.

The Vegas player was tired of being Vegas, they were burnt out and wanted to develop a new story, so they made the crystal square republic. It didn't even get past the CS. Rey and her fuckboi somehow kept ending up in the position of determining CSes. They denied them and forced them to play as Vegas. While pissed, he accepted it. So he reused existing IC figures for about 20,000 securitrons at least of different varieties. We made jokes about giving them wings and flying. By this point everyone else was a superpower, and the legion tried rebuilding the Roman Empire. He was told he will accept 8,000, 4,000 active. I argued in Vegas's defense and was ignored. He was threatened that his work would be deleted, so he didn't join. The rey and boi said that if he cared about one work, he better stay with it then rather than waste time making a new one. Vegas player didn't want to lose either, but didn't want to keep doing the same thing over and over to be opposed by an IC faction for OOC means.

Our final act of getting at them was another page/thread in the forum. I created "The warning to NCR" or whatever thread. Also taken seriously by rey, the comments below pretty much cemented how easily borked they are in determining the difference between IC and OOC. Rey never posted, but me and Gade understood and talked about how it was a plague inc joke. Periodically and sometimes every hour, I edited the page to show off new symptoms. Essentially, I was making a more realistic necroa virus, but rather than reanimate the dead, it degenerates your head and makes you a mega cannibal while viewing everyone else as a threat and hallucinating. Total 28 days later meets left 4 dead type. They looked like angler fish in the final mutation with long, jagged teeth sticking out. By the given end timeframe, I stopped editing it. Rey was thoroughly irked and pissed, and the rest of us moved on with life.

This didn't stop though. After leaving that shitty site after taking all the good and active people from it, via showing them unjustified actions against us, the site mods deleting concern and suggestion threads, some flaunting or subtly harassing people, and ignoring the community as a whole, we spent time in a discord server. We tried making the community even on nexusmods of all places before settling here. During this time, arguments were more constant. Rey would randomly splatter random political and animal bullshit on everyone, others would troll rey, etc. We remade the series as the RPNWW or something, and gade eventually deleted it due to problems by rey and co. Before that, rey somehow gained control over CSes again. Rather then accepting the suspicious 3 man group with WWII tech i again defended and advocated their tech of WWII would be more than acceptable, and making a Tiger I would be easier than making another liberty prime, I was ignored againt. But eventually past that I discover they planned trying to conquer the RP. Literally saying it in our PM, and me pretending to be all cool with that to see how far it goes.

Now get this, rey still fucked up. A guy literally wanted Godzilla and got accepted. Gade logically used that as one of the reasons he deleted the RP. The rest were obvious. This is when Rey fucked off to the 50 corners of supawakawakadingystan and I never heard of them again. What makes this history worse is, if you ask my friend faltasey here who was there too, they would also tell you rey was damn near crazy. Every few days, for a few minutes, for over a week, they would just come on, either make a WWII hailing joke or making random rambling, then leave as quickly as they appeared. Some like gade wanted to actually talk with rey in a civil manner, and either got that, ignored, or memespeak. We just assumed they mentally broke after all their work was deleted when SB temporarily got down before being rebooted again. The other guy became more tame and understanding, and we became friends.

however only one time right before WoT II happened, another friend was making a RP in a setting I don't know. It looked like war of the worlds in WWII. Essentially alien super weed grows rampant upon the Earth in Africa especially, and global tensions rise as it becomes worse than the Spanish flu. Then, aliens invade and germany are thr lsst defenders not to go to space for a new home after nuking earth. After that, there is a timeskip to the far future where everyone is a uber galactic power or something. Despite wanting to be the British so I could experience getting my ass kicked, I was offered the ability to be the aliens instead. I rejected. However, another from my previous community was there. They made a joke about it meant to be funny, rather than one before at some point when we did TNL on SB. Where that time he seemed to have suffered sudden memory loss because he literally said I was initially OP and all that shit about SBWW. This time however it was a joke reference. Regardless, my reputation with those people got fucked from it, so I just refused to join. Albeit originally I couldn't anyway as I didn't have the time after initially wanting to.

Then I got into WoT and made my new community, which at some point in the stated timeframe's area made what my original post was about. Got screenshotted and buried on another device under 15,000 shots over 2016 to present and the memory is low. But I don't have the internet for it or a computer to transfer files to get rid of it currently. Then some at the time enraged jackwagons deleting R&R's OOCs and the original general room. Jokes on them, for I screenshotted every important thing. Overall, I've pretty much had to deal with varying extents of people being pathetic scum since maybe late 2015 to 2017. 2018 mostly and 2019 was a wondrous calm year, and I'm sure with my guys at some point again if they are still here by that time, will revert to cavemen again once they see the shit I'm going to enforce them to follow. But whenever I get a computer that can use discord, I really got to eradicate their roles. They only have room powers for their own OOCs but because someone thought it'd be funny to have the general "unlocked" and not telling me or anyone else, before having someone clear unarchived rooms, it got deleted by a dude not even paying attention to what the room actually is, and deleting them merely by viewing the last comment made. Eradicating all of our founding history. Then, like some others that nolonger were doing RPs at the time, had their roles removed. And the one deleting the room was punished. That "joker" is an absolute dipshit.

So by that point for the sbww portion of this post rey's bullshit fucked me regardless of how improved the RPs got. Regardless of if I joined or not. Anyone might say "just don't join them", but I got better things to do than temporarily not socialize, or mindlessly watching YouTube when I'm not shopping for food. In rey's case, it was both how I wrote, my characters, and faction/guild/nation/state/country. They were far worse than anyone else I've encountered thus far. All I had to do was wait for the BoS guy to mention this site's name, then I and a few others came on over. We left behind the more self centered and rey-like guys to deal with things by themselves.

Same for all of these. Bad faceclaims can ruin the vibes of the RP if they're being used in. I was going to make my own complaint on the subject, but I thought my general dislike of faceclaims would've discredited me.

Also, I have had it up to here with standardized-origin superhero RPs. Especially when every character's power is [thing]kinesis.

Same for all of these. Bad faceclaims can ruin the vibes of the RP if they're being used in. I was going to make my own complaint on the subject, but I thought my general dislike of faceclaims would've discredited me.

Also, I have had it up to here with standardized-origin superhero RPs. Especially when every character's power is [thing]kinesis.

Well, in non-specific people's defense, there are a lot of real kinesises. kineses? Telekinesis, Hydrokinesis, Ferrokinesis...

Unfortunately way too often... especially in Marvel RPs which usually ends abruptly due to a number of factors

Don't forget thingkinesis itself, the power to somehow latch itself onto your innards and makes the whole thing go from 0 to mortal kombat. Or musiciankinesis, the power to use physical music notes to do it, or kinesiskinesis, the power to kinesis your opponents kinesis while they kinesis your kinesis.
