What would qualify as R-Rated Material?

So I just came online and got the notification about 'What is and isn't allowed'. Aka the new thread that was created in relation to further specifications on erotic content, here on RpN. Now, if I read correctly, it was also specified that this is not a PG-13 site. In other words, aside from erotic content, R-Rated material IS allowed.

Now, my question is, what would qualify as R-Rated? I know swearing is allowe, but what degree of violence in RP would qualify as such? Descriptive amounts of gore?

If you read the whole thread, you'll see this was answered. Basically, anything goes, beyond erotic content, and words that are considered racial slurs - as well as cursing at folks outside of IC. All they ask is that if you have a violently graphic post, you put a disclaimer, for the younger folk.

Personally when describing gore, I'd ask the GM what is and isn't okay if they don't already have a rule up. See what the other members of your rp are comfortable with, and if you go into detail I'd put a mention/warning at the top of the post like Elle says. Written gore you have a lot of room to work with, but no graphic pictures.

Elle's right. Just be nice and courteous out of character, and don't use slurs whether racially offensive or derogatory towards a certain type of individual. Some slurs will automatically be changed to "I'm uncultured" when posted, but some won't- although that doesn't mean you should be using them.

Right... :) Whether we're adults or teenagers, given that the minimum age is 13 on this site, I'd say we're all within our abilities to use common sense and courtesy. If it feels like you're going too far... you're probably going too far. Dial it down, out of respect for the other members. If it seems right, and someone still complains, either discuss it with them, pop up a disclaimer or edit it... But really, there shouldn't need to be detailed descriptions of what is and isn't acceptable when we're all old enough to know better.

Thank you.

Forgive my ignorance, xD . Seems like a childish question, I know, but bear with me. Had an idea of what might qualify in mind, but... wanted to confirm things first.

No problem! I don't think it's a childish question at all, and if I was going to write a violent scene I'd probably ask the same questions just to be safe.

Same :) It was a good question. I think sometimes people in general (Not you) neglect to use a little bit of common sense, to know what's stepping over the line.

Basically violence shouldn't get to the extreme levels, gore in controlled amounts and using common sense is allowed. A zombie eating a person and describing it a bit is gore.

Though I doubt I'll ever feel the itch to play such a character: What if the slurs would be in character? Would that not be okay, still?
