Chitchat What things did you consider very scary at one point but not anymore?

I have 3 examples two of which are dvd covers

When I was very little I was terrified of the 1994 the mask films dvd cover

When I was eight I would scream or cry at the sight of the Steven kings film Cujo cover,
the one with the dogs blurred snarling face.

I remember being scared of the Australian abc music show rage
Not just Because of the quick appearance of the logo at points in the show
But
because of the raage voice that occupies it
It's likely one of my oldest fears

It's also in the end credits

There was this movie I watched as a child featuring a brown haired tween and a small yellow monster that had a sort of curl of the top of it's head (?) and I re watched it frequently, there was one scene where the monster would grow to a massive size as response to something the child had said to him and it drove me up the wall in fear. I would leave the room and peek through the door.
I was also very very scared of the PlayStation 2 noise that played when you turned it on without a disc or it couldn't read the one you'd put in, also left the room when it happened.
(I actually have no idea what the movie was called I've looked for it and was never able to find it.)

I was scared of the PlayStation 2 format error sound too
But for some reason I still looked at it
Maybe I was fascinated as well as scared

I was terrified of making phone calls, applying for jobs, and even asking the waitress for more sauce when I was a teenager. I was extremely withdrawn and very much adjusted to people simply ignoring my presence. Denial was nothing new, so I just decided to never apply myself. I began seeing a therapist for my communication issues and have thankfully overcome all of these problems. I still don't like making phone calls, even to family, but I don't avoid it nor am I deathly afraid of it.

I also used to be terrified of the SCP foundation when I was thirteen, but we don't talk about those dark days.

Mummies. I was on a school trip and went through the ancient Egyptian exhibit. The mummies terrified me, and I couldn’t go back in for years afterwards. Even though I wasn’t afraid of mummies at that point, my aunt made me go through the same exhibit a few years ago (I was already 18 at that time). I didn’t want to because of the bad memories. She still made me go through with her. I’ve been through the exhibit several times since.

Anothe fear of mine that still remains is one of heights (agoraphobia )
Especially If there's a stair case without risers and it's over 14 feet off the ground
I will not go up them without lots of encouragement

When I was teeny, my dad took me to the mall to see an animatronic dinosaur display. The star of the thing was a life-sized T. rex that could move its' entire body and roar.

I immediately fell into a horrible, crying, screaming mess on the floor. It was a combination of being utterly terrified, and also completely overwhelmed. It was big and loud and aaaaaaa.

...and now I try to pet the giant werewolf at Universal Studios for fun. So like. :V :V :V

Oh my
I turned into a crying mess whenever
I saw someone dressed as Santa clause when I was 3 or 4

Another childhood fear of mine I forgot to list earlier
is the game over theme from sonic 3, sonic and knuckles and sonic blast
I would literally turn the volume on the ps2 to silent whenever I was close to losing all my lives.

Here it is right here

I used to be terrified of the hyenas from Lion King. I would have nightmares that they were just pacing the outer area of my bed while I was sleeping. It wasn't until I was in high school that I was able to overcome that fear enough to watch the movie again and now I love it.

Thunderstorms.
I was the terrified five year old I was when this happened. Lightning struck a tree in the forest behind my house, and made the loudest thunder I ever heard so far. Now, it's just a nuisance to have loud thunder 🙄

Blue screen of death noises.
I remember doing just normal stuff on my computer one day (family's computer, they rarely let me use it after this 😂) and I don't know what I did but the screen went black, then made the loudest beep I ever heard, on a Windows machine. My dad just tells me "don't touch it anymore"
