Hello there! Whoever is reading my thread. I'm thinking about starting a new roleplay thread but I would like some advice from you guys about what makes a Good Roleplay. Since I see a lot of active and non active threads. I wanted to know first hand on what you would like to see in a role-play thread. I would like to know what is popular nowadays since there are a lot of genres, I want to know which ones would be great to start with.

Hello :D

I find that Fantasy and Fandom seem to be the most popular <3 People also seem to like original ideas as well as the typical teen or magic high school roleplay

The Fantasy high school role plays also seem to be quite popular

Sorry I couldn't help more.

For me, the most important thing in a roleplay is the other people in it. I try to keep an active old so that players will talk and meet each other and hopefully start plotting things on their own. But, not too active. It's terrifying to come home to 20 new pages.

If I like the people in the thread and like the way they write, I will suffer almost any plot or genre.

Gimme one of those hook things please.

Lots of RPs make the mistake of starting things off with jack all, and not giving the players anything to post to other than some 'get to know each other' scenario. Like, throw out something to get people invested in their characters EARLY, don't have them wait 50 posts until something actually happens, cause that's when people start dropping out early due to lack of investment. Throw in something where characters need to work together, and need to be proactive, that way characters can build up relationships, and not get bored of their character cause all they're doing is talking about the weather. That's just an example, you don't necessarily need to have them working together, anything where the characters need to interact works too, just make sure to make it reasonably interesting so people want to take part in it. (And by surrogate want to take part in your RP)

Also, yeah, like weli said, try to keep OOC active. RP is as much a social experience as it as a writing exercise, and getting your players to make the friendly will help them feel invested as well as hooking them up with some interesting stuff early on.

Like a two hit combo.

Bam bam.
