THOMAS SCOTT BEILFAST. A young Catholic priest a stone's throw out of Deer Trap.
Marcille de Westleon was a confirmed Protestant her entire life, but with Pastor Johan retiring after a winding battle with chronic pancreatis, she had to make do for the sake of her eternal soul. Father Thomas is a decent option anyhow, because he is a decent sort and thoroughly unoffensive. Springy, like an early bush branch - quick to bent, but just as quick to forgive. He is somewhat tall, black haired, big-eyed like the dozen Charolais his dad owns in a little fenced off field. Earnest, in a way that the jaded might find deceptive and the sheep-like as too unsure. Father Thomas has a habit of throwing his permanently cold hands about when he is nervous, which is always, and he smiles distinctly like a borzoi with its teeth pulled out. He's been more often described as fresh-faced rather than handsome, and he seems to genuinely encourage that deeply rooted sin can be helped by the watercolor sessions he hosts on Mondays. As a child he kept barn cats and has had too many torn birds die in his care to be often moved.
If not the perfect canditate, Father Thomas is at least a reasonable one. Especially to deal with a family like this.

Judith is about the closest to a sane narrator in this bloodline, which does not count for much; she's had a scandalously erratic career in fashion and modeling, and now even as she inches into her seventies she's long overdue to shed her box blonde hair and silk blouses. Her knees are light red and stick out below her short skirt like uprooted onions. She is shorter than her high heels give the impression of, and she has a habit of drinking duck red wine with breakfast. Perhaps unattached and generally uninterested in her family, but a valuable insight into Marcille and the truth of her. Judith is not likely to lie unless her bouts of 'meditation' are interrupted, or if wailing children that might run towards her are around. It just might be that she was spared most of the genetic trouble by just not being around enough.
