This is not an interest check or plan for a hosted project (OK maybe). This is really more of a tally in a way. I was curious to see what people wanted to see be made as a hosted project? I know there are many ideas out there and most of us understand the hard work and responsibilities that come with hosted projects which prevents many of us to create one.

So I want to know if ever in your mind you had a slight idea for a hosted project?

For me I was thinking maybe a really unique and plot-twisting high school roleplay (I know there would have to be something really unique about it to convince people) or a HunterxHunter Hosted Project.

Who knows...your wish may come true ~

I've been in a futuristic roleplay once, that aspired to be a hosted project. It was really promising, but fell short. Some sort of sandy/dusty, dystopian-ish (but still civilzation) kind of roleplay. Something like that, I'd absolutely adore. Imagine the citadel of Mass Effect level technology and population (so, no empty, barren wastelands) but with the setting/feeling of Fallout. Kinda like... a cyberpunk cowboy town. Something like that. With mercenaries and stuff. That, properly hosted and executed would make my heart jump HEAVILY!

One that would have so much potential if someone could tap into it, would be a Fantasy, Powered, Hosted Project set in a medieval like world.

Yes, it's cliche, but that doesn't mean anyone has done it right or on a large scale at that. The issue is with the lore. People will disagree, but remembering seven different continents, each with names like, Daranakolland, Sutrendaro, and Gantaspice, is a turn off. Then special names based off whatever language, a person decided to pull from to name their 15 dragons that roam the land...please. There are too many RPs people are involved in, to learn a specialized form of government, religion, and history for one that may not even last that long or has the commitment of its creator.

None of that would fly in a large, populated HP anyway (which I think HPs are intended for; might be wrong). A fantasy HP with a unique variety of powers, multiple, but uncomplicated regions of land/nations, and simple but remotely relevant quests and subplots that push things along. That would be immensely fun. Bonus if the characters started off weak and had to work to grow, with noticeable improvements in their powers, so it doesn't feel cheap.

You're right, I don't believe there are any new Sci-Fi HPs that've been significantly successful recently. It's a flavor I'm looking for too!

Yup, if you've ever run an HP before, one of your biggest difficulties (recruitment wise) will be making it simple and accessible. if you go with a fandom you can skip a little bit of the introductory bits, but that's not as effective with an original title.

You want to create a setting that does have depth and does have detail, but doesn't require knowing those nuances to jump right in. In other words, it's easily accessible to a broad audience, and really satisfying for those few who get into the nitty gritty. That's not easy. Though one of the most important things I will always say about HPs is that it requires teamwork. One person can't do it all alone, not with something as large as a HP :)

I'd just prefer to see coordinated teams that admit and understand that, individually, they're limited, but have trust and faith in each other to rely and depend on team members to cover for faults. This one requires starting with a really great group of people. That doesn't mean you can't get by with limited teamwork; my HP was an example of that, and sort of is today.

Honestly, you can do anything with an HP as long as you've got the solid fundamentals down. Genres only attract me on the surface level. I only claim something hooks me in when it has the ease-of-access, charisma, and love of a great community and leader(s). Compared to the core that matters, the type of roleplay is just a superficial difference.
