Welcome to Oswego Valley, Canada, population 1514.
That is the sign that the Callahan family saw when they pulled onto the rickety dirt road leading them to the town that they would come to know as home. The number had recently been painted on the blue wood, a symbol of welcome to the new family.
Displaced and lost after a nasty divorce, the Callahan children find themselves moving halfway across the country to a tiny town nestled in the dense forests of northeastern Ontario called Oswego Valley. Leaving their father behind in Toronto was hard enough, but moving to some sleepy little country valley with seemingly no contact to the outside world made the whole situation so much worse.
The Callahan family, now living in an older farm house on even older land, seem left out. With five teenagers, moving to little Oswego Valley from the big city was a seriously huge change. Little do they know how different Oswego Valley truly is.
The truth is, Oswego Valley has a secret. It acts as a safe haven for the small population of supernatural creatures left in North America. Nestled between two large mountains, Oswego Valley was created when the creatures faced pure extinction from hunting by trophy hunters. They now live undercover as regular citizens in the valley, hoping to escape from the terror brought upon them by the hunters of the past. Werewolves and vampires live in a sense of harmony, putting millenia long feuds on hold to survive. Sirens lure possible visitors away while elves work to keep the town healthy and the nature surrounding it happy. Perhaps it isn’t the happiest existence, but its home.
With the arrival of the Callahan children, clearly human, the citizens of Oswego are on high alert. There had never been many humans interested in living in Oswego Valley, and most seem to leave within a few weeks after figuring out that something just isn’t right. However, it seems the Callahan kids are here to stay.
Will the creatures of Oswego Valley finally begin their journey into trusting humans again? Will the Callahan children ever figure out that the people around them aren’t human? Will the arrival of humans in Oswego Valley cause the entire society to collapse?
Perhaps those questions will be answered in time. For now, welcome to Oswego Valley!
