Filled with DETERMINATION
So this is an idea i've tried before but it never really panned out, so let's see how if it works here.
Any technology sufficiently advanced enough would be indistinguishable from magic.
It's the middle ages on Earth when the skies light up with strange and unnatural flashes and fire rained down onto the planet, leaving strange and massive hulks embedded in the ground all over the world - thousands of them. What the simplistic people couldn't understand was that above their planet a massive space battle was taking place between a vast array of unknown creatures and alliances - all of which had no interest on the primitive world below.
That battle would change the course of humanity forever.
Not all the craft that crashed onto the ground were destroyed - in fact, most were intact... more or less, but their systems were running wild and spilled out into the unprepared and otherwise virgin world. Those few survivors were taken in or killed by those humans around them and over time it became clear that their nations were not coming for them - they were marooned on this primitive world without any hope of escape. They taught humans the basics of using their technology - what they could salvage and thus created an Era of Myth.
100 years later.
Some of the ships had out-of-control medical stations that spilled out onto the world, this in turn infected the land creating biological machines, and attempting to 'upgrade' the fauna and flora. Humanity still lives in a pseudo-dark age, but it's one now enhanced by their limited understanding of this technology. Wizards and Sorcerors - individuals who have studied the tech and now can utilize it, often with odd cybernetic implants in their bodies or machines they have created.
Monsters living in the forests such as the spider demon - a human who had put too many cybernetic implants into his body and now stalks the forest as an creature with eight mechanical arms coming out of his back, mechanical claws, eight glowing eyes and fangs, a strange machine on his back creating webs of liquid metal that cool almost instantly and he stalks those foolish enough to enter into his forest, to kill them, eat their flesh and take their cybernetics.
Races a result of alien and human mating, sometimes forcibly, now live amongst the people while technology was adapted to what humans knew from their own time - arrows with energy tips, swords with batteries in them to create a magical sword - one cast in electricity. Forests with trees that are part machine - with solar arrays looking like leaves and fairy's - small ai machines flying around the trees to care for them. Demons in the depths of the water and lurking in forbidden places - transformed by the radiation put out by ruptured power cores or out-of-control medical AI's. Angels - individuals who live apart from the world and have advanced cybernetic wings, and other wonderous, amazing and terrible things to discover.
This is a world where the fantastical was created by alien technology and human over-use of it and because of that, Humanity is more divided than ever - creating a world-sized feuding era of city-states and warlords.
