"Swindling Swindlers, not 'Rebels'. That doesn't rhyme." Alice corrected, winking up at him.

She enjoyed watching the fiasco the group produced. Their debate was interesting no doubt, she even had trouble holding back her urge to jump in.
Alice pushed herself onto her feet and slipped between the cracks of bodies, getting a closer look at the map.
However, she knew her place. Or- at least, she thought she did.
Being a messenger was suspicious enough, but when you've been working for both sides, giving both the resources to cut each others throats- it made her wonder what she was doing there. Why was she among those who did care? She had to feel something- otherwise she wouldn't have come, even if her curiosity had called her to it.
She stared blankly at the map, getting too lost in thought to process it.
Before long she woke up from her daze and gave way to a long, bored sigh.

Alice turned the map to face her, getting a better look at it. "As I see it," She began, giving a confidant smile, "You're in no rush at the moment. Both the South and the North are still on their toes. I know rushing seems sensible- especially with the rising tension on both sides, but being quick will cause attention. You're just starting out. The last thing you want is attention. If you get caught early, you'll be put down early. You don't have enough numbers to be assured."

"If there is something in the woods, and one of you comes running out without their pants on crying about demons, both sides will get suspicious. Not just of your group, but of each other. Same goes with the town. If you continue in as a group and shelter there, people will gossip. Rumors will spread, even if you split up." She tapped her smile, laughing at the thought of someone running around without their pants on. She continued. "This could lead to the North and South to make early attacks, which would be the opposite of what you want."
"I say you go around both. The river near the town is shallow along its curves, which would make it easier for you to get across. You could cross the river, travel on the other side, and then recross it when you're near Baermount. This would allow you to avoid both hazards, leaving you to travel at twilight and to camp during the day. Your only problem would be to get across water and acquire the materials to camp." She gazed up at the diversity of the group. "I have no doubt you all could come up with something." She grinned, pulling out a toothpick and plopping it into her mouth to chew. She stood up and laced her arms behind her head. "But by all means, debate it more."

leone seemingly lost interest in the discussion of what they should be named, staring at the map in thought. something in the back of his head was ringing, telling him he was missing a hint right in front of his face. a frown came over his face, tapping his cane absentmindedly. the priest was getting rather frustrated; he didn't know what was wanted of him. the leader's face was unreadable and the map told him nothing.

the fox always has a meal.

the fox, such a sly creature. it keeps two holes to escape from; so at which hole is the hunter at? if there even is a hunter at in the first place. the way he saw it, it didn't really matter which road they took. at one they have suspicious southerners and at the other hand, they could have anything from bandits to wild creatures. but... that's the thing. it could be anything... including nothing. their group could just go their merry way through the forest and find nothing. so it was more or less a gamble. and well, leone was a gambling man back in the day; perhaps he could become one again, too.
''i suppose it doesn't really matter?'' the scarred man glanced up at elsbet, eyes narrowed. she seemed to be expecting something and leone didn't know what. he didn't like to play games whose rules he didn't even know. ''you've all made some good points. altrough, i would appreciate it if you didn't refer to me as a 'cripple'.'' he send ronan a stormy glare, obviously offended. but this wasn't the point. maybe he's making this more complicated than it needed to be. and wow, looks like this woman actually had something in her head? she actually made a decent speech about what to do. maybe she's hiding behind a persona, but leone didn't care to find out.

Elsbet tapped her nails against the table, keeping her visage blank and uninterested, though she watched each person with growing interest. As the debate over which path to choose continued, the leader made note of who spoke their reasons. Gilmark seemed eager to help, offering his money and whatever else he had in possession, but she shook her head. This was a test. She would gladly accept all the help she could get, but to show favour to any who bribed her interest was unfair.

Alice brought up a good idea, but Elsbet immediately turned it down. She had given the group two choices. They would need to figure it out themselves. Of course, neither path mattered much. They both provided as much cover as well as exposure as the other. The only problem was that not everybody had decided yet. She looked up when Ronan spoke of the forest. Meeting his gaze, she tipped her head. A flash in his eyes told her everything she needed to know. Ronan had figured out the test, and Elsbet was impressed. He was clever, a good match for her.

She was nodding along with each member’s point, until the conversation shifted to names. As far as she was concerned, she did not care what they would be called, but this was not the test. She didn’t want their efforts on arguing over names. “Time is of essence. Names have no power if we do not have one,“ she said. “I expect we have come to a decision?“ It was not her decision here. The path had to be chosen by the group. She shot a steady look at Ronan. Step up.

He had to agree with Gilmark, the Swindling Rebels did seem too 'on the nose' and he didn't feel it was necessary to correct the smug girl's correction since the two words in fact did not 'rhyme'. As for all the responses as a whole after he last talked, he took mental note of where each of their votes lie. He was willing to hear other people's reasoning for choosing differently. A couple of people had not said their piece regarding the decision, but even with their two votes, one option still won over the other. When the brunette leader addressed the topic once more she looked directly to Ronan at the end of it that he noticed right away.

Does she want me to settle this? Why me though? Couldn't she do it since she is in charge of this meeting? Is this somehow part of the test? Ronan thought.

Despite his curiosity, he still obliged trusting that she knew what she was doing. He lightly coughed to get the attention of others as he stood up, "It appears that we have. If we are going by majority rules, going through the forest has been the popular vote. While crossing the river does seem like a valid option, I assume there was good reason why you didn't make that path an option. I mean how could you overlook such a long river when looking at this map and trying to think of a path? Since Maci says she is familiar with the forest, her knowledge might help us avoid the possible dangers there."

He then looked around to the other people in the room making sure to make eye contact with each of them before moving onto the next, "Now I understand some of you may think 'who does he think he is making the decision for us?' I'm not, these are the facts and I'm just conveying them. I'm not doing this to outshine anyone, I'm not in this meeting for some potential glory, and neither should any of you. I can tell you right now whenever word starts getting out that there is group out here fighting for peace, we will not have glory, we will have hardships that we all should be ready for. Now if anyone disagrees with this decision and wants to keep us from moving on, speak now. Otherwise, I would like to apologize to our friend with the cane and request each person to state their names so something like that doesn't happen again. If we are to journey together we should all begin with knowing each other's names. I'll even start it, I am Ronan of the South."

Afterwards, he looked back to their leader wondering if that was actually going to work and if that was an acceptable job.

Norwyn preferred moving through the forest and thankfully it was echoed by a majority of the members. At least in the woods he would be able to hunt and not be attacked by rabid southerners. Also, it seemed that a good portion of his group was made up of southerners, he'd have to keep an eye on them. His gaze soon rested on the cripple, he seemed very offended by the use of the word. He knew what it took get the mans gears grinding and would eventually bring it up later whether the man wanted to or not. He was deep in thought when Ronan spoke up and seemed to take the lead of the situation while the leader seemed to intently watch. A bit strange but that didn't matter. After hearing Ronan speak, Norwyn let out another cloud of smoke before speaking,"I'm Norwyn of the North and I plan on getting to know all of you very well." There was a hint of mischievousness in his voice at the end there. He hasn't really shown his true self yet but once begin their journey, there is no doubt people will see how he truly acts.

gilmark was happy with result no conflict at the moment so far so good, he petted his companion that had perched itself upon his head before once again adjusting his mask to make sure it was correctly in place looking back at the priest, the term cripple wouldn't be good to describe him...perhaps useless? no no his uncle had lost a arm and a leg and still did his job just fine, he got up and bowed before saying "the name is gilmark my dear friend i hope we call all get along" his words as when it entered dripped a charming shifty nature.

leone couldn't help but frown even deeper, offended. 'handicapped friend' was a little better than 'cripple'; he didn't think his injury would be such a big deal, but apparently, it was. he could see the man with the bow and arrow watching him for a few moments and leone stared right back. the priest couldn't tell what the man was thinking, but it didn't matter; apparently, his name was norwyn. leone narrowed his eyes a bit in thought. this man didn't seem like a fool, that much he could tell. it was too early to judge, but leone didn't like him much already. as for this gilmark person... leone really couldn't place him. he seemed rather shifty. the lizard was certainly interesting; the priest was sure he got chased by one of those things when he was a snotty kid. eugh. speaking of kids, why was there a literal kid here? the priest watched maci from the corner or his eye, half concerned and half curious as to what she will say in her introduction.

''my name is leone, from the south.'' leone didn't bother offering a smile, his scarred face hard. they didn't need to know anything more; it was obvious he was a priest and that's all. but he was somewhat curious about the others, so he glanced around the room as to who will talk next.

Maci was happy with their decision to go through the forest. She still was a bit uncomfortable going to the south in general but, at least in the forest, she could hide. She raised her eyebrows at the girl, being really enthusiastic about the plan. It confused her slightly she was talking about you. Wasn't she a part of the team? As others also introduced them self from coming from the south she started to worry. It is fine, they are all here because they don't want the war she told her self.

"I am Macy from the south, as said before I am here as a medic," She said as she looked around the table. "I am 18 years old," she said as determined as possible. Answering the question she knew was coming and to let everyone know she wasn't a child.

Alice shrugged it off, keeping her grin. She was proud of her insight, and to her, that was all that mattered.
She wheezed when Ronan referred to the priest as a cripple. Though she admired Leone and his ability to deliberate, she also thoroughly enjoyed watching him get irritated. He reminded her of one of her past clients-someone highly clever and intriguing to talk to, but also incredibly full of themselves. In the end, all it did for her was make it easier to steal from him.
Alice cheered on Ronan midway through his speech.
The forest it was!

"What a great cast of lecturers you have here! You should all run for political office." She smirked, playing with a fold in her shirt. When the first four were done introducing themselves, she decided to it was her turn to speak.
Letting out a sweet, vexatious smile, Alice brushed herself off and took a moment to gaze at Macy. "I hope you know that you're completely adorable," She purred, "I could care less about how old you are, you look precious enough to hug either way." Her eyes traveled to Leone. "And you..." She cut herself off with a grin and didn't bother finishing her sentence. She went on to the next person. "I've always like the name Gilmark. I'm pretty sure I had a pet snake named Gilmark at some point-except, all I remember is that he was a pain in the ass." She let out a cackle.

"I'm Alice." She stated plainly. "Alice of the- er," She debated for a moment. "Why bother stating where we're from? We're technically team South and North, right?" She chuckled. "I'm Alice of the 'Sorth'. I look forward to sharing our sarcasms together."

Elsbet gazed on in satisfaction as the group quieted down by Ronan’s voice. She half listened as the others introduced themselves. When Alice finished speaking, Elsbet gathered up her map, folding it quickly and letting it disappear into the folds of her jacket. “Now that that’s finished,“ she swept her eyes over her companions, “we have chosen the forest path. I hope you are all capable enough to keep your mouths shut about this? It would be most... unfortunate... if I were to hear of any certain accidents because of loose lipped fools.“ She channeled a hardness into her voice that could not be overlooked. Elsbet herself had been part of the disappearances of some who had betrayed her trust, though nobody would know.

Before Elsbet could say anything else, a throaty caw sounded from outside. She recognized Susa’s voice, and tensed, cocking her head. Seconds passed slowly before the raven warbled again. This time, Elsbet relaxed. It had been only a time warning.

“This meeting is over. We leave at daybreak. I shall be expecting you all here twenty minutes before sunrise, with everything you need. Pack light.“ She dismissed them with a wave. “And if you are late, we will leave you. If you speak of this to anyone who is not here tonight, it will be mine own pleasure to dispose of you.“ With her final warning, Elsbet turned away. She would be staying the night in the house, as she had stored her belongings in the other room. And so the wheel turns, she thought to herself.

leone bristled as alice cut herself off when looking at him, offering a grin that made him frown. he could already tell they won't get along; she seemed to enjoy seeing him get pissed off, so he pulled the reins back, forcing on a neutral expression. still, they were here for one reason and leone had enough sense to put that aside for now. they'd get nowhere if they decided to be petty. so the priest glanced away from alice, curious about the others. maybe they had more sense?
leone blinked as maci said that she's 18 and not, like he thought, 12. the man looked dubious, raising an eyebrow. ''seriously?'' she was rather young to be involved in something like this, right? well, as long as she does her job well, leone won't complain. but wow, he was convinced they had a kid amonst their mist. aside from some people, of course.
the priest glanced up from his thoughts as elsbet spoke up, even a word enough to draw attention. she obviously wasn't playing around as she spoke, her voice hard like stone; there was an obvious threat in her words. leone didn't have any want to take her on her promise, only nodding as she told them to come the next morning. it was a clear dismissal and leone stood up, cane in hand as he disappeared into the dark outside.
and before the sun rises, he'll be back.

Maci looked back angry at the other girl that had introduced herself as Alice. The cheerful yet, somehow arrogant way of behaving of the girl unsettled her. Like she didn't dare to be completely herself. Maci took a deep breath trying not to get mad at the girl, she was just hiding away a victim of the war that brought out the worse out of everyone. "Yes, seriously," she answered Leone who pulled her age in doubt. She was used at people doing so but, that didn't mean it didn't annoy her. Even though her brother had told her countless times that people underestimating her could be a great strength of her. She never liked it, never wanted to pretend to be someone she wasn't in order to trick people. She might be small but, she wasn't weak nor was she someone who was comfortable being on the background. She always had been jealous of her brother's length and stronger body posture. But, in the end, he was probably right, after all, she was still here and he wasn't.

Maci nodded, as the leader of the group gave them instructions. Packing wouldn't be that difficult she was already carrying around everything she had in the first place. She flinched as suddenly the raven of the leader made a noise, pulling the attention of the leader. For a second she worried that someone caught them but, it turned out to be nothing. As everyone walked away she also left the building. Making herself ready for another night in the forest.

Ronan was inwardly happy to see that everyone had agreed to comply to his statement. It made things easier now that he had a name to their faces. A couple of them sounded familiar to him and with him being an informant that only meant one of two things: Either they were part of a high class family or they dealt with some shady stuff. It was certainly interesting to say the least why these specific miscreants were chosen to come here in the first place. Questions started to spring up more as he too took his leave without another word. This could end up backfiring, this could be one big trap. Who has ever heard of a group fighting for peace? ... But it is a chance worth taking.
If he had more time, he would do more research on these people before they departed, but with how sudden it was he knew he needed to get some sleep for the long journey ahead of them.

"very well i will take my leave...until it is time to leave" gilmarks lizard perched itself upon his head as he headed outside, there was a cart, it was pulled by a donkey well would be. anyhow gilmark walked over to it inspecting the many bottles and powered in it "hmmm...well everything seems to be in order here then perfect"

Feliah looked outside the window.
It was so quiet.
"Father! I'll be right back!" Feliah called upstairs, the only answer she got was a snore.
She chuckled and grabbed a black cloak.
this should keep anyone from noticing me... Feliah thought.
She snuck out into the darkness making sure not a sound was heard.
"Hopefully no one will notice me... " She mumbled.

Alice perked up at the release of the meeting. She grinned, letting herself stretch out her muscles before swinging around and waltzing out the door.
She didn't bother with trivial goodbyes.
To her delight, she hadn't expected the meeting to end so soon, which gave her plenty of freedom to do what she pleased until the sun rose. Sleepless nights were not a strange occurrence for her- one could dare say she even enjoyed doing them. In the mist of the night, Alice realized she had more than enough time to get some work done. She stopped in her tracks and listened closely for any followers or curious souls.
Alice let herself be caressed by her thoughts while she did so, thinking about the group and its mission. She would be going against the very thing they were gathered for if she went on a job now. Except, she still wasn't quite sure whether she was part of the group at all. She was merely a spectator, enjoying the entertainment and the idea of a better world.
"Although," She thought to herself, tapping her chin and smirking. "I won't be able to do much work while I'm with them anyways."
She decided she'd do one last job before she set off with the group in the morning. She had no idea when she'd have the chance to get more coin, much less enjoy the thrill of her career.
So just for the hell of it, she did.

"Before you go," The senator began. "I have an extra mission for you if you're interested in the reward."
Alice didn't normally take on two missions at once, but the extra money for her trip sounded good.
"Depends." She responded.
"This is probably just a rumor- I don't much believe it myself, but times are becoming shaky and I doubt either side wants anyone in their way." He let out a deep cough before digging around in his desk and pulling out an envelope. "A colleague of mine over heard a whisper about a group planning to get in between the North and South in efforts to- what I can only presume- stop the on going war. The war is making us a lot of money." He eye'd her closely. "It would be bad for both of our businesses if they got something going."
Alice dared herself to laugh. How much information was already out about the group?
"If you can find anyone related to them..." Alice opened up the slip of paper, her eyes widening at the enormous pay. "I promise I'll make it worth your time."
She looked up, her face refusing to reveal anything.
"We'll see."

Alice took the envelope and left.
