"Swindling Swindlers, not 'Rebels'. That doesn't rhyme." Alice corrected, winking up at him.
She enjoyed watching the fiasco the group produced. Their debate was interesting no doubt, she even had trouble holding back her urge to jump in.
Alice pushed herself onto her feet and slipped between the cracks of bodies, getting a closer look at the map.
However, she knew her place. Or- at least, she thought she did.
Being a messenger was suspicious enough, but when you've been working for both sides, giving both the resources to cut each others throats- it made her wonder what she was doing there. Why was she among those who did care? She had to feel something- otherwise she wouldn't have come, even if her curiosity had called her to it.
She stared blankly at the map, getting too lost in thought to process it.
Before long she woke up from her daze and gave way to a long, bored sigh.
Alice turned the map to face her, getting a better look at it. "As I see it," She began, giving a confidant smile, "You're in no rush at the moment. Both the South and the North are still on their toes. I know rushing seems sensible- especially with the rising tension on both sides, but being quick will cause attention. You're just starting out. The last thing you want is attention. If you get caught early, you'll be put down early. You don't have enough numbers to be assured."
"If there is something in the woods, and one of you comes running out without their pants on crying about demons, both sides will get suspicious. Not just of your group, but of each other. Same goes with the town. If you continue in as a group and shelter there, people will gossip. Rumors will spread, even if you split up." She tapped her smile, laughing at the thought of someone running around without their pants on. She continued. "This could lead to the North and South to make early attacks, which would be the opposite of what you want."
"I say you go around both. The river near the town is shallow along its curves, which would make it easier for you to get across. You could cross the river, travel on the other side, and then recross it when you're near Baermount. This would allow you to avoid both hazards, leaving you to travel at twilight and to camp during the day. Your only problem would be to get across water and acquire the materials to camp." She gazed up at the diversity of the group. "I have no doubt you all could come up with something." She grinned, pulling out a toothpick and plopping it into her mouth to chew. She stood up and laced her arms behind her head. "But by all means, debate it more."
