The Infinite Being

The land of Waipara is currently divided into six kingdoms: Bandar, Hasa, Japura, Deva, Tanjung, and Camorin. Each are different from one another both culturally and geographically. This RP takes place in a fantasy medieval age and Waipara is a bit larger than Europe. The countries are mostly blank slates, so if you want to add something to a articular country then there is a good chance I'll add it if you ask.
Additional Landmarks:
- Anselm Hills: The range of hills north of the Anselm Forest.
- Athrum Mountains: The western mountain range.
- Crag Lands: A canyon-filled region north of the Hasa River and South of the Ebony Wall.
- Ebony Wall: The great black wall between Bandar and Hasa.
- Greater Tiber River: The river that flows from the Athrum Mountains to the east coast. It splits into the Northern and Southern Tiber Rivers south-east of Denpasser.
- Hasan Desert: The desert south-east of the Hasa River
- Malik River: The river flowing from the Orrik Mountains to Malim.
- Orrik Mountains: The eastern mountain range.
*I do not own the map*
King: Elred Banris (Elf)
Queen: Erinda Banris (Half-Elf)
Notable Other Royalty: Prince Orwin (first born, Half-Elf), Princess Iseatha (second born, Half-Elf), Prince Tyleth (third born, Half-Elf)
Capital: Banswara
Boarders: North of the Ebony Wall and West of the Athrum Mountains.
The Ebony Wall is a relic from a time long passed when the kingdoms of Bandar and Hasa were the worst of enemies. Now its just useful the mark the border between the two countries. In fact, Bandar and Hasa now have the closest relationship of all the kingdoms on Waipara. Bandar is known for its rough terrain. While its hills may not have as extreme elevation changes as the Anselm Hills, they are near constant and usually rougher. The coast off of the Bantayan Forests are possibly the nicest terrain in the country.
Bandar recently suffered from a plague that killed hundreds and left the country weakened. They are in no position to properly defend themselves in the wake of this disaster.
King: Aoth Haslo (Human)
Queen: N/A
Notable Other Royalty: Prince Keith (first born, Human) and Prince Barsis (second born, Human)
Capital: Al'Hasa
Boarders: South of the Ebony Wall and West of the Athrum Mountains.
The Ebony Wall is a relic from a time long passed when the kingdoms of Bandar and Hasa were the worst of enemies. Now its just useful the mark the border between the two countries. In fact, Bandar and Hasa now have the closest relationship of all the kingdoms on Waipara. Hasa easily contains the most unforgiving landscape on Waipara. Most of the country is a dry desert, making all major towns coastal. The Swamp Lands are a stark contrast to the rest of the country and is home to many unique species. Most that travel either head to Anthione through Bandar or ferry to Penola.
King Aoth married a human woman named Nulra, but she died of diseas three years ago. Prince Keith is set to take over the throne within a few years.
King: N/A
Queen: Kimyl Carzula (Elf)
Notable Other Royalty: Dame Ayla (Kimyl's sister, Elf)
Capital: Pura
Boarders: South-East of the Orrik Mountains and South-West of the Malik River (including Malim)
Japura is the most tropical country on Waipara It experiences frequent rainfall and is rarely cold, but it does not have any proper jungles. Still, the Tanj Forest is known for being incredibly dense.
Queen Kimyl is only the latest in a long line of queens to rule over Japura. It is the only country where queens hold more sway than kings and gives more rights to women in general. She is currently looking for a potential husband.
(As a side note, Waipara is generally less sexist than medieval Europe was. Women can fight in the army if capable and can obtain a wide variety of jobs. Still, Japura is the least sexist country.)
King: Olgid Devgart (Dwarf)
Queen: Baslin Devgart (Dwarf)
Notable Other Royalty: Duke Bhalil (Olgid's brother, Dwarf)
Capital: Devarr
Boarders: East of the Athrum Mountains, North of the Orrik Mountains, and to the outer edges of the Anselm Hills.
It is widely believed that Deva used to rule the entirety of Waipara before the Dark Age. It's thought that the cities of Athion, Milan, Elvissa, and Malcor used to be seats of power in the old kingdom, but now they are merely cities. While still largely ruined, they function as common entry points for other countries, which is why they also house embassies. it is no question that Deva is the most powerful country on Waipara, and many worry they may soon try and expand. Many different environments, but with the exception of the high mountains it is fairly tame. Deva has by far the most mines out of any country and is the only country where Dwarfs regularly hold seats of power.
Duke Bhalil is the court's chief war adviser. The King and Queen are currently without heir, but rumor has it that they are expecting.
King: Luther Thanar (Human)
Queen: Melaru Thanar (Elf)
Notable Other Royalty: Princess Rosemere (first born, Half-Elf), Princess Alerith (second born, Half-Elf), Prince Rogedyr (third born, Half-Elf)
Capital: Malai
Boarders: East of the Orrik Mountains and Anselm Hills and South of the Northern Tiber River (including Long Island).
Tanjung is mostly open with some decently rough terrain, but nothing overly special. There are, however, the Seven Secret Wonders scattered throughout Tanjung. These are mostly natural beauties tucked away in the country, though two are clearly leftover man-made structures from before the Dark Age. They frequently hold religious symbolism. People come from all over to visit these sites, which are only accessible though guides unless you already know the way.
Rumor has it that King Luther brokered a deal and became allies with the people of the Socotra Isles, but most don't believe much will come of it. The people of the Isles are mostly solitary and have never shown interest in the mainland before.
King: Ivor Hylorin (Human)
Queen: Natali Hylorin (Human)
Notable Other Royalty: Duke Bozeg (Natali's brother, Human), Dame Yoanne (Ivor's sister, human), Princess Alise (first born, Human), Prince Breik (second born, Human), Princess Ederna (third born, Human)
Capital: Calvados
Boarders: East of the Athrum Mountains and North of the Anselm Hills and Northern Tiber River (including land north of the southern fork near Calvados).
Camorin is mostly flat and open and littered with rivers. They are renown for their crafters and artists, their culture having shifted more towards the arts. As a general rule, the better the artists, the higher the social standing.
- Races
-
There are many races in Waipara and they don't have to be limited to those listed here. If you have an idea for a new race, just shoot me a PM with your idea and how you think they'd fit into the world. I don't want it to become too densely populated so I may cut it off at some point. I won't allow animal-people because it just seems like overkill to me, but if you have some justification (probably magic based) for a small population to exist then I'll consider it. Bear in mind, however, if I get too many requests for these ultra-rare races just so your character can be super unique then I will cut it off. Besides, you shouldn't have to rely on your character's race to make them unique.
Life Expectancy: 70-80 years
Average Height: 5.5-6.0 feet tall
We all know what humans are, so why bother explaining more?
Life Expectancy: 200-250 years
Average Height: 6.0-6.5 feet tall
These elves are taller than humans with pointy ears like normal and while they do have longer lifespans, they aren't as long as in many other sources.
Life Expectancy: 100-125 years
Average Height: 4.0-4.5 feet tall
Dwarfs. You know, short stocky people. They tend towards the mountains, but this is by no means a rule. They very rarely mate with humans and there is no recorded Elf-Dwarf child.
Life Expectancy: 125-150 years
Average Height: 5.5-6.5 feet tall
Half-Elves are the product of an Elf and Human mating (most of the time). Half-Elves and Elves mating also produces Half-Elves. They share features of both races and there is frequently a stigma about Half-Elves (though no where near as bad as it used to be). Some believe that human is the default state-of-being while others claims that Elf essence is supposed to be too pure to mix with human blood. These are both justifications to explain why the children of Half-Elves and Humans usually appear purely as Human and why Half-Elf and Elf children don't become full Elves. The children of two Half-Elves are usually Half-Elves, but sometimes are categorized as humans. There are exceptions, of course, but people like to categorize things so defined Elf and Human characteristics are used to categorize second-generation Half-Elves.

I'll add to this section as needed, so if you have anything you'd like to add please send me a PM and we'll talk it over.
Well preserved historical records go back several thousand years before they disappear entirely. There is evidence of civilization from tens of thousands of years ago, but the written records from that time period are difficult to translate and not well preserved. No one knows how that civilization collapsed or what happened in the subsequent years. This gap is history is referred to as the Dark Age. Several ruins from before (or possibly even during) the Dark Age dot the land. The most notable are the Ebony Wall, the ruined portions of Athion, Milan, Elvissa, and Malcor in Deva, and two of Tanjung's Seven Secret Wonders.
Magic. It's a... thing. The only rules thus far are that it is derived from some universal energy (I'm partial to mana) and that the power of a mage is directly proportional to how much mana they can store and utilize. Most focus on certain areas of magic (necromancy, pyromancy, etc.) and regardless of how you acquired magic it does require study to grow more powerful. This can be somewhat undercut by using group magic, rituals, and/or the power of a higher being.
There are many Gods worshiped across Waipara. Not everyone worships every god (why would a crafter in the middle of the Hasan Desert worship a God of the ocean? Still most people are at least somewhat familiar with the major gods in the pantheon. These gods rarely directly interact with mortals (so very few demigods) and more often than not gift mortals boons or curse them.
There are more gods than what I'm listing here. I'll add more as needed (you can suggest some yourself) and even add stories as needed. For simplicity's sake I'm making this one pantheon worshiped across every country in Waipara. Different regions may have different interpretations of the gods and stories, but it's fairly universal.
Aldos, God of the Hunt.
Aldos' biggest story includes the creation of werewolves. The short version is that a human hunter named Lycayan constantly boasted about how great of a hunter he was. Aldos agreed, but when Lyacyan started proclaiming he was better even than the gods he had to draw a line. He invaded Lycayan's dreams, telling him that from the moment he woke up he would have one week to hunt a golden deer. This deer was created by Aldos to be so elusive as to only be attainable to the gods. If Lycayan's skills were truely godlike, then a week would be plenty of time to hunt the deer. By the week's end Lycayan had yet to kill the deer. Aldos gave the man two options: publicly admit to his arrogance and admit to being less than a god, or be transformed into that of a beast and be hunted himself. In a fit of rage, Lycayan claimed that Aldos cheated and made the deer impossible to catch. Lightning struck in the forest, instantly killing the golden deer, but Aldos decided to his curse wasn't severe enough. He did curse Lycayan with the form of a beast (the first werewolf) but he also gave him a drive to hunt those he loved. This drove Lycayan to kill his family and any other nearby people. If he ever started to develop a bond with a person, they would become his next targets. Luckily future werewolves no longer have specific targets, but the blood-rage that causes them to mindlessly rampage is just as prevalent as ever.
Iphion, Goddess of the Sky.
Itar, God of War.
Oulla, Goddess of Justice.
