waterdeep DRAGON HEIST : seeking five members and experience is not necessary

chaotic cat cutie

it is the small wins that keep me going
Roleplay Type(s)
  1. Group
  2. Off-site
Are you perhaps very new to dungeons and dragons. Searching for someone who can grow and learn with you? I'm searching for a small group to help me run a Waterdeep Dragon Heist. I've done some research and it seems to be one of the most popular. I happen to have the dungeons and dragons book kicking around my apartment. Would anyone be interested in starting a campaign with me?

I was thinking around five to six members would be good.

- rogue
- ranger
- wizard
- cleric

might fit the campaign best

While I’m not exactly new to D&D, I haven’t had much luck with actually continuing a campaign anywhere near an end, so doing a pre-made adventure does sound good to me. As far as classes go that you mentioned, I’m leaning towards rogue. One question though, are we using the original 5e rules or the newer revised rules?

I think a rogue is a good choice. I'll have to do my research. Which works best for Waterdeep. I don't know much about the new revised rules yet to be honest

Will you allow an Insane Elf Drakewarden Ranger from Fizban's?

Waterdeep starts in the yawning portal so as long as this character has a reason for being there. This character could be anything or anyone. It just has to work with the situation and work well with people. Not that this character must get along with everyone. Just it seems like the type of campaign where a lot of social building goes into it.

I think the character sounds interesting. :)

He is cold at first, but If I can do more than one my other character(s) will make up for his low social interaction

You'll only have one character unless this character dies, which wouldn't be likely in Waterdeep, it's not a campaign where there are large battles really. I have to read through it again.
So, you'll likely just have one character for the entire campaign. So, you can think about it, take your time, I still have to build the main page and out of character thread.

I'll do the one then

Take your time fleshing out a chatacter. They should feel right for the story but right to you as well. I just am not a savey dungeon master who can handle more than five to six characters

I will be making an ooc soon
So I just realized I got it mixed- My character is very socialable- particularly if the people like his drake

What level are we? Also will you allow feats at higher levels- any books banned? I've had a few DM's who won't allow classes, races, spells from certain books

So it seems we are going with the original rule set since Gears Gears made a character using Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which is the original rule set. So I’ll look through my original rules book to make a rogue character. Expect a finished character sheet this weekend.

Also my usual DM says if players level up in waterdeep, they usually get up to fifth- what level do you plan for us to go to?

Yeah maybe level 5 to 6. It's meant to be a campaign where you can add mini campaigns to it and then it leads into that other campaign oh I can't remember the name.
You don't have to have a lot of power in this campaign to my understanding. It's more about the building of friendship between the team and a mystery

And yes the regular rules work best just since they are easier and you don't need anything too complex in this campaign
