Lore of the World of Gaea
General InfoThe world of Gaea is a version of Earth that is very similar to ours. Technology has progressed in this world at the same rate as ours and so everything that we are familiar with exists in this world. However, the political and philosophical parts of this world are very different. For starters, Gaea is divided into six Great Kingdoms; The Country of the Free West, The Feral Wildlands, The Kingdom of Sheba, The Kingdom of Euphora, The Empire of Silk, and The Kingdom of Aus. These kingdoms are what we know as the continents. Like our continents they are divided into several smaller kingdoms and provinces. Not only are the Great Kingdoms defined by geographical differences, but by diverse philosophical differences as well. Sadly, this world is far from a Utopia. There is still crime, prejudice, evil cults and the like in this world, however each Kingdom handles these threats to civilization is different ways. About two centuries ago the kingdoms, in an attempt to create world peace, created and signed a treaty that formed Gaea’s Embassy network. This network, like our own, allows for diplomatic relations to occur at a faster and more nuanced pace. The network is headed by The Council of Outsiders. Headquartered on the island of Atlantis, the coucel’s Purpose to to remain neutral and judge the policies and actions of the leaders of the kingdoms. While called outsiders, they are not, the six seats are filled by honored wise-folk from each kingdom. This makes Atlantis the only unclaimed neutral territory in the whole of Gaea
The Six Great Kingdoms
Though it is not a kingdom by definition, it is still counted among the Great Kingdoms. It is the youngest of the six at just over three centuries old. This kingdom is the only one to rule through democracy. It occupies what we know as North America. The Free West is led by a Prime Minister who is elected every five years. The current Prime Minister is Minister Esther J. Walker, who is two years into her third and final term. Her leadership is monumental as she is the first Female Prime Minister in the country’s history. She lives in the capital, Silver City, the best, greenest, and most glorious city in the entire country. Though there are many large cities that are following in the footsteps of Silver City as well as many vast farming communities. Westerners are very proud of the fact that they have risen from a colony to one of the Great Kingdoms within the first century of existing as a country. Because of this pride, many (definitely not all) tend to look down on immigrants, especially those who don’t take on Westerner names to blend in. The Seat of the Outsider is currently filled by Matthew P. Whittaker.
The Feral Tribal LandsThis Kingdom occupies the land we know as South America. Little is known to the public about these dense jungle lands except that many different tribes live there. While The leaders of ther world know that the tribes are among the most isolationist people in the world, they do have access to technology and are more developed than most of Gaea thinks. Their Seat of the Outsider is always filled, Currently the seat is held by Selena Ciervo of the Aymara tribe. Though populated by highly dense forests and jungles, this kingdom has the greenest tech powering it’s cities so that the philosophy of living in harmony with nature can become more of a reality every day.
The Kingdom of ShebaFrequently claiming to be the oldest of the six kingdoms, Shabe and her Queen take their name from the legendary wise queen of the ancient past. In fact, the current queen, Queen Isis Sheba, claims to be a direct descendant of the original Queen Sheba. Giving themselves the title of The Mother Kingdom, Shebans are very strictly matriarchal. bloodlines are traced through mothers, only women may hold positions of power or leadership, leaving men to be house husbands and work only in entry level positions, and finally all women from the time of their fist blood till they reach adulthood, at the age of 21, must serve in the Army of Sheba. The soldiers of Sheba are also known as the famed Amazons of myth and legend. Fierce and combative as they are beautiful, their laws are Iron-clad and their punishments are severe. This strict enforcement of the law has led to a way of life that is filled to the overflowing with tradions of etiquette, romance, even mundane everyday social interactions. Five years ago upon the death of General Hathor, Queen Sheba sent General Hippolyta to sit in the Seat of the Outsider in Atlantis.
The Kingdom of EuphoraIf Sheba is The Mother Kingdom, then Euphora is The Father Kingdom. Though this kingdom has undergone several name changes in it’s long history, even once calling itself Camelot. It is the yin to Sheba’s yang, being a stric patriarchy. The ensuring rivalry between the two kingdoms has been the main reason for many of Gaea’s wars in history. Recently the Kings of this kingdom have sought peace with King Benedict even heading the effort to create the Treaty of Atlantis which ushered in this era of tense peace. The current king, King Arthur XXVIII, is a bit of a hermit, with only his advisors and the other five leaders every seeing or interacting with him. Being a monarchy for such a long time means that there is a deeply ingrained social hierarchy with law enforcement sadly seeming to vary based on rank of noble birth. King Arthur sent his brother Ambrosious to sit in the Seat of the Outsider. While this is an honored position, rumors abound throughout the kingdom that the King did this to secure his position on the throne, as the position and The Outsider is a lifelong position.
The Empire of SilkThe Empire is the largest of the six kingdoms. It’s as old as Sheba and Euphora, the Empire prides itself on being more peaceful. In recent decades, the population has grown so large that it has been inacted into law that families can only have two children. The leaders of this country have been both male and female. The current leader is The Jade Emperor, who inherited the throne from his mother, The Jade Empress. This is one of the many traditions that have grown within the culture, The leader’s name is only known by their immediate family. To the rest of the world they are only known by their title. This tradition specifically has brought on a super heightened sense of formality and etiquette. The there are rules for everything in this kingdom and so family honor is the greatest value one can have in this kingdom. The Outsider for this Kingdom is known as The Dragon of the Easts.
The Kingdom of AusThe Smallest and most volatile of the six kingdoms. Aus use to be a beautiful, peaceful matriarchy. The Queen and her four closest advisors, The Graces of the Winds, spent most of their time protecting their citizens from the wild exotic animals that are native to this kingdom. However, 20 years ago, when Queen Ausma died she followed tradition and named her daughter her heir. The problem with this is that her daughter was the secondborn. The Queen’s firstborn, was a son, Sir Elphaine. He felt that he was qualified and deserving of the throne despite what tradition said. To that end, he gathered up rebel forces and proceeded begin a civil war. This had an adverse effect on the rest of the world as the flood of refugees from Aus have affected the world because of limited port sizes. Before the war the Five noble houses were matriarchal, yet society was equal. Now, war has destroyed nearly all of the jeweled cities of Aus. Now, the only major city left standing is Sapphire City, the capitol, which lies in ruins.
The Divine Players
Lord Helios of LightThe Golden Lord of Light, Helios is the ruler of the day and the sunlight. He presents himself as a dashing man in his mid-40s, with golden blonde hair and sky blue eyes. He normally walks around in a pure white three piece suit with golden trim and golden accessories. He is in charge of chosing souls to inherit Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, and Pluto
Lady Selene of LightThe Silver Lady of Light, Selene is the queen of the gentle light of the moon and stars. She most often takes the form of a radiant beauty in her early 30s, platinum blonde hair that almost glows silver, and eyes the same dark blue of the night sky. Even in modern times, she wears a medieval noblewoman’s dress that is made of white silk and embroidered with designs in silver thread. She is in charge of chosing the souls to inherit Venus, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn.
Lord Erabus of DarknessThe ruler of the Shadow world, and the main antagonist in the story. He has been trying to take over Gaea since the beginning of time. While he has launched an attack on Gaea every generation he has only been able to make himself manifest in Gaea three times. Every generation he personally seduces souls into corruption to become his Sinful Generals. Based on the seven deadly sins, these generals vary in number during each attack. The Sins chosen for this generation are Pride, Lust, Wrath, and Greed.
