who we are
by dictionary definition, a wallflower is "someone who from shyness or unpopularity remains on the sidelines of social activity". that's us. we're the kids who sit in the sidelines; choose not to participate, some of us because of crippling disorders such as social anxiety and others because we just don't want to. we weren't born to be socs, yet that's what we're expected to be. we're watchers, not participators. we'd rather be inside by ourselves than outside with friends. we sit alone at lunch and daze off while the other kids socialize and race to complete their overdue homework. and after school, while the others run to the door and drive off to the mall with friends, we sit outside and wait for everyone to leave so we can get in our cars and slip away unnoticed. but inside each and every one of us is potential; we all have something. something that makes us unique, just like everyone else has something. we're just too afraid to show it. we are the wallflowers.
plot
we all know the wallflowers, either by being one or glancing at them without giving a second look in the hallway as they make their way quietly. these are the wallflowers of summerville coast high school, a school with grades 9-12 nestled on a clifftop surrounded by woodlands overlooking the beach in summerville county, oregon, a small town located short of 40 miles west of portland. they have few friends, if any, and they like it that way. but things are changing. victoria vanderbelt, the school's "queen bee", goes missing from the town with no trace. as the popular crew's leader falls, the school is left socially unruly. with summer approaching, the search for the missing beauty queen intensifies as the suspect falls onto the student body. hungry for some some adventure, the wallflowers come together as a group and attempt to solve the mystery--but eventually the question will arise; is the culprit within the group themselves?
