Logan inhaled some air from the room he was in for two semesters. He couldn't believe it, it was finally over and soon he would be onboard a ship as an Officer leading enlisted sailors. His roommate who was going slow by comparison was unfortunately his ride as well so he had to wait. "Bro, I am gonna go load my luggage into your truck and take a last look around the grounds. Just call me when you're ready.....You good bro?" Logan said to his roommate.
His roommate turn around looking kind of pale. "Yeah i'm fine, just a little hungover from yesterday. The only thing I can remember from last night was from when that girl bit me. I'll call you when I am ready to go and just bring the car around to find you. Don't worry about me, I am going to the Marines remember."
"Hey, you're mock of memory means we partied hard, just don't push yourself. I can always drive if you get to the car and still feel under the weather. Alright bro, heading out." Logan said exited his room carrying his luggage with him. A half hour later he was wondering the grounds in his Seaman Working Uniform after loading his luggage into his friend's SUV. He saw a tour group walking near the musuem and decided to surreptitiously join them.
Eventually the tour guide decided to use him as an exhibit and said. "This is a freshly graduated Midshipman in a SWU." The group proceeded to clap for him. "Thank you but you guys shouldn't be able to see me because you can't Sea Men in camouflage." Logan terribly punned. At that moment the group proceeded to playfully shame him and then move on. Logan's phone began to vibrate and he asnwered it as it was a call from his roommate.
Logan explained "I am at the musuem."
"Alright I am coming around the corner, come outside."
Logan exited the musuem and he heard the screech of tires as he watched his friend's SUV get plowed into by another car and be sent flipping into a group of tourist before catching on fire. Logan didn't hesitate, he quickly ran over to the inverted SUV, it was already missing it's driver side door? He quickly pressed the release on his friend's seatbelt before pulling him from the burning SUV. His friend was covered in blood and his SUV was still on fire. It was at this moment he noticed some downed people were a little too close to the burning truck. He gently set down his friend before trying to run to them, but then the SUV exploded and those people were now beyond his help. Logan placed his hands on top of his head in dispair.
He heard his friend coughing and Logan quickly ran over to him. "They just plowed ....Right into me.. I was so close..." He said before losing consciousness. First responders had already arrived and there was nothing more Logan could do. Logan proceeded to walk to the edge of the street to see the car that had hit his friend's SUV. It was clear the car had t boned his friend's SUV while speeding, but the question was why.
He saw a first responder try to pull out one of the occupants before they hissed and bit him. Logan watched as the first responder screamed and began to bleed profusely. He then heard other similar cries and turned around to see other began eaten alive by individuals who just died. A Navy Police SUV rounded the corner and two officers exited guns at the ready. Logan began to back away fro. The scene as untaken warnings turned into gun shots that didn't even phase the rabid people. It was only when one was shot in the head did they fall down and not get back up.
The way that today had been so far was not at all how Tessa had wanted to spend her day- a sleep in would have been nice, especially before the presentation she was expected to give to 300 people that same afternoon. But instead, she was here, at the museum on a guided tour with a group of strangers. This had been a part of the paid entertainment and she knew she should've really been making the most of the opportunity, but it was really dragging on. Sleeping or shopping would really have been much more entertaining. It's all part of the job Tessa thought to herself as they continued on there way.
At the appearance of the graduate, Tessa clapped along, though slightly halfheartedly, though couldn't resist a bit of a chuckle at his terrible pun. She was a sucker for puns, after all.
As the tour continued, the group moved between attractions, listening to the long-winded tour guide explain every detail in depth. That was until there was a loud noise, like the sound of metal hitting metal, then a short moment of silence- before a bang. Tessa, as frightened as the rest of the group, made her way towards the exit to see the carnage that ensued. It was like nothing she had seen before- the exploded car, fire, blood, death- and something else. People, but feral people. People attacking people, biting them.
Panicked, Tessa noticed the man that they had clapped for earlier still standing out there, with a gun. Though, compared armed police that were now present, he was in a bad position. "Hey! You, get inside!" She screamed at him, waving, trying to get his attention. The group was still indoors, she was in the door way. Someone urged her to shut the door, but she couldn't leave this man out there. "Hurry up!"
