In an alternate Earth, in 2050’s, humans had technologically reached their prime but was at their most morally corrupt. In this time, humans with marvelous abilities existed. Whether it be super strength or supreme intelligence. These humans were labeled as the ‘Gifted’, and were very much loved and praised by society. At least 50% of the human population having these types of powers. In the social hierarchy, the Gifted were the highest, then normal humans, but the lowest tier was the ‘Diseased’.
The Diseased were once the Gifted, but a genetic fault altered them severely. A mutation in their DNA was the root of their illness, and once diagnosed they only had 5 to 10 years to live. It was a fatal flaw, and no cure existed for it. The mutation strangely would strengthen the Diseased’s powers, making them extremely dangerous and unpredictable. Symptoms varied widely, but the most common were; high fever, increased strength/intelligence/or stamina, deteriorating mental state, rash, hemorrhage. Rare instances occurred where some Diseased would grow extra limbs, fur, scales, or even strangely animalistic features. As the duration of the illness persisted, the Diseased would usually spiral into insanity before death.
These humans were ultimately being rejected from society, making up 5% of the population.
As of November 7th of 2053, The United States formed the DPO, Diseased Protection Organization. Which ultimately sought out the Diseased and incarcerated them against their will in hospital-like facilities. The DPO was originally formed to offer medical services and find a cure for the Diseased, but became corrupted. It instead turned into endless experiments and testing, scientists from all around the world trying to harness the genetic components that increased their supernatural abilities. Nations across the globe wished to use their genetic information to form a new species of humans for replacement of soldiers or machines in the military.
This RP would mimic that of a ‘superhero gone wrong’ plot, and would involved several Diseased individuals conspiring to escape a testing facility. Which would eventually lead to a widespread search for them by the authorities. Leading towards a underground lifestyle and eventually forming together to take down the government and rescuing other Diseased people. This would take place in a Dystopian future on the east coast of the United States.
This is a very loosely idea for a RP, and more details can definitely be added in later. Each character could only have one power, but it could be anything you desire. Characters can also have any mutations or alterations you desire, whether it was acquired from the illness or testing. Romance and shipping may occur, but please don’t force anything, and nothing sexual. This RP will have some darker themes and be kinda gritty, but with a few lighthearted or comedic moments.
