Welcome to the IC section of Visian Academy!

Principal in uniform.png
Mentioning: All Students Location: Auditorium
The Principal stood on the auditorium stage overlooking the students walking in and taking their seats. The room seemed to grow as students came in, never quite getting full but not having a lot of empty space either. Once the students had all taken their seats, the room began to quiet. The Principal then stepped up to the podium. "Welcome to Visian Academy and the future of this kingdom. We are here to work toward a future where every sentient being is valued and can work together for the betterment of each other and their lands. King Zarin has tasked our academy with leading the way in dispelling the hatred and prejudice of the past, and I intend to see this through. While here, every student will be equal, no matter what background they may have had outside. We have rules in place which we expect you to follow to enforce this, and while I expect you to read them in your student handbook, there are a few I will touch on here. You are prohibited from using any influence you may have outside the school against another student. Any fights must be overseen by an academy faculty member. We will also not tolerate any harassing behavior of other students. If any student fails to uphold these rules, they will be subjected to punishment with increasing severity based on the nature of the offense and how many offenses have taken place."
He looked around the room, giving a stern look to reinforce his seriousness before assuming a more pleasant smile. "Enough doom and gloom, though. All students of this school will have my sanctuary and an assurance of a safe learning environment. I hope to see each of you learning more about the world, each other, and who you have the potential to be. Our wonderful faculty is here to help you make the most of the opportunity as well." He took this chance to sweep his hand towards the faculty that we're able to attend who were sitting to the side. "I encourage you to make the most of having such excellent teachers and mentors available to you. I know many of you may not realize it yet, but you also have an amazing chance nobody before you has really had. The chance to learn from the other side of the racial divide. We wish to encourage this as racial interaction is one of our goals. In that interest, we have set up a buddy system where students will be paired up and asked to spend time together and eventually complete tasks together. You will all find a picture of your buddy in the packets we gave you along with your school ID."
Knowing that this could be met with some protest, he decided to just move things forward. "So today I would like all of you to take part in an ice breaker activity along with your buddy where you will visit some of our academy's nicer locations and locate your dorm rooms. Speaking of the dorms, I'm sure many of you are aware that we have co-ed dorms with single-gender floors. What you may not be aware of is that you have been assigned, roommates! I'm sure you will all enjoy getting to know each other and are probably eager to begin. So I will wrap this up for you. Thank you for coming to our academy. As long as you put in the effort to grow, we will see you to ever greater heights! I will stay here for a little while to answer any questions you may have." The Principal took a step back from the podium and wore a smile as he waited to see what would come of his speech.

The Nekomancer
Nekomancer faceclaim.png
Footsteps. The pitter-patter of students taking their seats rung in Nekomancer’s head, much like the sound of an army approaching a castle’s walls. It was suffocating, being surrounded by so many people after years of living alone in the forests of Alenia. How long had it been since he last saw civilization? Distraught, he hugged his legs tighter to his chest, assuming a fetal position while he sat in a chair placed along the edges of the auditorium. Once the whispers of the students had died down, the Principal took up his speech, not that Nekomancer planned on listening to it.

His curiosity was found elsewhere. Gentle shivers went down Tac’s spine, an erratic tingle spreading throughout the entirety of his body. He felt the nekos that resided within the room, overwhelmed by their holy presence. His fingers fidgeted, digging themselves into his occultic robes as the desire to hunt bogged down his thinking. How cruel, he thought to himself. One wrong move and his life was forfeit to the fury of the anomaly assuming the guise of a headmaster. Was this some form of divine punishment? How long did he have to suffer before the great god, Kah’Nyan, was pleased?

Heavy breaths escaped his chapped lips, Nekomancer pulling his mask up to cover the blush on his cheeks. The prospect of so many nekos huddled in a single room was enough to send him into an intoxicated stupor, saliva trickling out of his mouth and dampening the cloth that covered his complexion. “This is simply marvelous,” he said to himself, swaying back and forth in his chair. “To think that some happy-go-lucky nimrod was capable of bringing together so many heavenly beings into a singular location like this. Perhaps this was the feeling he wished to bequeath unto me? To elucidate my mind in the beauty of being so close to perfection, and yet lacking the ability to touch it with my lowly, grimy hands.” Squeezing his sides, the Nekomancer wriggled in place, awestruck by the careful planning the Principal had taken into consideration.

Then, the speech stopped. Students had started to rise from their seats and go about their neko-less day, unbeknownst to them that greatness was occurring in the very room they stood upon. Not wishing to be swept by the encroaching crowd, Nekomancer attempted to rise from his chair, slowly unraveling his arms and legs. Maybe it was his long robes or possibly the fact that his head was up in the clouds, but whatever the reason was, Tac found himself stumbling forward, his feet caught in his chair as he crashed into the floor with a nice, long slide.

“O-Ouchies.”

  • ❖ Dren ❖
Location: Library | Interacting: Rosalina TheImmortalDeity TheImmortalDeity

The crisp and refreshing air of Visian Academy's main auditorium contrasted with the dense humidity the outdoors had to offer. However, as more and more students packed their way into the room like sardines, Dren's contentment began to melt away. So, this was to be the normal state of an academy? Without an inkling of academic experience, he was to teach about a third of these students. Was it too late to resign? Glancing over at the headmaster as he excitedly gave the opening speech, Dren wondered if his scent glands had betrayed him on the day that man approached his door, offering him this profession. Was it the same person standing before the podium? As much as he wanted to deny it, Dren's abilities were too sharp to fail him. His conscious? Too honest to deceive himself.

The principal mercifully saved Dren's life in the past, and being a professor was the least he could do to repay the man. Therefore, he would attempt to be the best professor ever! Just not today. As soon as the principal's time in the limelight ceased, Dren made a beeline for the exit. The crowd was giving him slight PTSD from his fighting pit days, and he desperately wished to ease the migraine already agitating his neurons.

Before he realized it, his feet had drawn him towards the library. Dren was a creature of habit. The week before the start of the semester was open to faculty only. It was the day Dren discovered the holiness that is a library. Reading was uncommon among non-humans, so Dren had never set foot in a library before a week ago. It wasn't infinite knowledge that tickled his fancy. No, it was the loli goddess, Rosalina, that resided within its walls. The quintessential woman kept a keen eye on the temperature just for him. They were roomies, after all.

Although the man wasn't entirely aware of why Rosalina refused to leave the library, it wasn't his place to pry. To each their own. Everyone harbors a unique set of demons. Reaching the library entrance, Dren noticed a new set of rules engraved on the door. No shirt, no service? No pants, no chance? "Is this because I entered without a shirt last time? Heh, she even thought ahead too. Clever girl, I'll give her that." Dren chuckled under his breath.

The eighty-degree wonderland embraced Dren with open arms. Ah, yes. Now, this was serenity—especially given that it was empty so far, save for himself and wherever Rosalina resided. Stretching himself over one of the couches, Dren allowed his body to absorb the room's heat. Despite wanting to feel the room's sunny glow against his bare skin, he would abide by Rosalina's rules. Over the years, he had found that the wrath of women could prove terrifying.

"You missed the entrance ceremony, Rose. You should have seen some of the horrified faces when the principal announced the buddy system. Hell, even I was surprised. He's trying hard to change the world, isn't he? What do you think? Will humanity change?" His tone remained even, as not to hint to his personal opinion. Rosalina's figure had yet to appear, but Dren knew she heard him. He could feel her presence lingering everywhere he touched. It was as if she were everywhere at once, only, that wasn't possible. She does live in the library, after all. Naturally, her scent would cover everything. And, to be quite honest, Dren didn't mind.

Katarn regretted his assignment.

There was no danger of course, his cover story was perfect, unneccesary, even. The academy had proven pathetically easy to infiltrate, open enrollement proved an easy way in. Information of the plans for the Academy had leaked from many of the nobles sympathetic to the Orders cause, he had received months of training in advance for this assignment.

And it would all be for naught, lest he free himself from this seemingly never ending throng of filthy monsters. He listened intently to the Principal. He was an unknown factor. An enigma. His records across the recent history of Alenia was spotty and random, to say the least. The Order knew exactly two things about him. He was a war hero (of what war, exactly, his instructor either didn't say or didn't know) and that for whatever reason, he had chosen to take position as the head of this pathetic excuse for a school. He unconsciously smiled when the prospect of honor dueling was mentioned, perhaps he would be able to teach these disgusting monsters a lesson, the only way they understood. He stood up and joined the throng of students heading for the exit, keeping his revulsion below the surface as he made his way through the crowd. His training would serve him well amongst the enemy.

Chill had arrived in the auditorium well before even the Principal to take his seat in eager excitement. He spent the ensuing time gently petting Comfort until the speech began. As had become normal to him he hung on the Principal's every word but alas the speech was rather short. It barely gave him any time to observe the variety of beautiful students that had gathered in the auditorium.

After it was done the elemental slipped his adorable familiar back inside his robes and stood with the hope some of his students would come to find him. It was only then he noticed that his colleague Professor Nekomancer had pretended to fall in order to catch the eye of a student. Thinking to himself that it took real determination to go that far he resolved himself to not interfere. Chill stepped to the side slightly and put on what he thought was a welcoming smile without realizing his robes rendered that pointless. Perhaps if he was lucky someone would approach him but if not that might be ok as well since he was now contemplating if he should make a sculpture of that gorgeous broccoli pile.

Lia Daejun

Location: Visian Academy, auditorium
Status: Fine

---

Lia sat in a chair somewhat near the back of the auditorium, listening closely to the speech that the principle was giving. She understood the rules just fine, no fighting without the supervision of a faculty member, something that Lia could easily abide by. Another one was prohibited use of outside forces unto another student. Lia guessed that it was to prevent blackmail of any kind from happening. While Lia's family were quite wealthy, they didn't have much "power" per say. They ran a trading business, not much they can really do against nobility or aristocrat. And then she heard the classic rule, no harassing other students, not in any way, shape ,or form. Lia had heard this rule countless of times in past schools, but people always found ways to harass people, But she hoped this was different, after all, this was a school made to bridge the gap.

Lia was intrigued when she heard about the buddy system, and opened her packet, revealing a picture of a woman with horns, a non-human. Lia had no real hate for non-humans. At the end of the day, no one should be judged because of how they were born, they should be judged by their actions. This was Lia's way of thinking, and she felt that it was a fair way to think. She turned her attention back to the picture, and read the name that was provided with it. "Fae hartfield, quite interesting" Lia muttered to herself. She frowned when she heard that they would be having roommates. Lia enjoyed having a room to herself, a small place of peace where she could be alone with her thoughts. "Aah, it seems like I will already be stepping outside of my comfort zone," Lia commented. When she heard the principle stop speaking, she clapped politely, and stood up.

Lia scanned the room, and watched as a poor man was buried under some broccoli. "An...interesting fate," Lia said before walking right past the green mess. Sure, she could help with that situation, but at the same time, she could also get covered in vegetables, which she did not want in the slightest. Once outside, Lia looked for her supposed "Buddy", but didn't see them through the crowd of people. "Very well, I shall wait out here until I see her " She said.

"Hi! Names Jaycee, what's yours?!" he said to his own reflection mid pose and staring back at him from the mirror. Hmm the pose wasn't quite right, no he needed something a little different. Maybe if he made both of his hands into fist and put them against his hips to strike a more heroic pose? Nope that definitely wasn't the right pose. This process of striking different poses observing how he looked and making a mock introduction continued for several minutes until he finally came up with a brilliant idea. Stretching out his arm he placed his hand on the side of the mirror like it was someones shoulder, Tilting his head a bit he gave his best attempt at a charming smile, then armed with that smile he uttered a simple "Hey". Oh yeah, that was definitely the right pose.

Normally he wouldn't make some much of an effort to try and make a good impression but today was different! Today was the first day at the academy!!! This was his chance to meet some more Non-humans. Sure to most people that sounded like a punishment straight out of the deepest levels of hell, but not for this guy. No sir, this guy was nothing but excited. Just thinking about the different ways they would have to improve his speed and make him faster made him giddy. What magics could he find to turn his Thunderclap from a bit of a jump start into an absolute speed demon that wouldn't kill him. The not killing him part is very important. Either way he was super excited for his first day, although not as excited for the opening part.

So here he was, Sitting in a chair surrounded by people while the nice principal guy gave his speech. It was a good speech, well it probably was but Jaycee's focus was somewhere else. Here he was in a room of probably incredible people, how could he focus on a speech!? Did that girl have wings!? How fast could he go if he managed to combine wings with Thunderclap? Could he even grow wings? Would magic even let him do that?! "Focus!" he whispered to himself. Well it was a Jaycee whisper so just a little bit quieter then a normal persons usual speaking level. Using all of his willpower he focused every bit of his attention on the principal as the man finished his speech.

Step 1, now that the speech was over find his buddy. Step 2 go explore while avoiding any form of deep water,.Step three avoid getting rained on by
broccoli... wait avoid getting rained on by broccoli? Jaycee looked over to see a man curled up on the ground while broccoli fell from the sky most likely caused by a cat girl. Yeah definitely avoid getting rained on by broccoli. Jaycee quickly grabbed his packet and whipped it open to find his ID, room number, then the information for his buddy. Well if Cat girl was using magic then he should be able to as well! Making sure to stand a bit away from everyone Jaycee clacked his heels together lightly causing Thunderclap to go off with Decent sized pop. Loud enough to catch peoples attention but not loud enough to actually be considered a clap of thunder, it was just a light tap of the heels. Even with the light tap the small pop sent the already 5'11 man upwards 4 feet in the air letting him see a wider range of things. While in the air his eyes quickly scanned the faces of the others gathered in hopes of finding his new friend, "Hey Scathrai where are you buddy!" he called out into the crowd of people.

Sarasota Malboro
Sarasota had chosen to sit on the top right of the bleachers against the wall. This way there was only one person who could bother sitting next to him. He was pissed off because the bleachers were harder than anything he had ever sat on before. It wasn’t one of his chairs with a cushion on it that he was so accustomed to. He listened intently to what the principal had to say and even audibly gasped when the principal pretty much revoked his nobility.

He was a Marlboro! They were the top consultants to the King’s political front, and now he was just another student? No, this couldn’t be. In front of him sat a file of paper work with his name written on it. buddies? What’s this man talking about he wondered and his eyes stared at the folder, curious as to what the contents could be. He audibly gasped when he heard that there was going to be roommates. Now, that was something else. I mean really. Roommates for a nobleman. That’s utterly ridiculous, and something he would have to get used to. He was silently cursing King Zarin for making him put up with such…. Rift raft.

Leaning forward he opened the little folder that was in front of him, and just as the principal said he found a picture of one of the students. Aster...hmmm? by the looks of the picture he was a non-human. Yeah… I’ll find him later, maybe let him hold my books if he’s lucky he bitterly thought. He was excited about the chance to spar with the non humans and prove to them that humans were of course superior.

That would have to wait of course in due time like everything else. It’s not like he was just allowed to pick a fight on campus anyway, plus what would he gain from such an action? Nothing. So he decided he would play along for now. He put his roommate/buddies picture back in the folder. Stood up and took his leave. He climbed down the bleachers, and made his way past the teacher in blue, but before he could the auditorium crackled and popped. He was unsure what this was but saw one of the students flying above the rest of the class and enthusiastically looking for his buddy. That’s when he noticed more magic was activated. Someone was being rained on by broccoli. Well, that's new He thought in his head, but ended up scolding at the entire scene. These hooligans have no class! He angrily vented in his head. He had to remain calm though because he couldn’t afford to arouse any suspicion.

Sarasota had pridefully forced his head to face outside of the auditorium and quickly left before anything else transpired. He would then make his way outside for a quick smoke not caring if that was against school rules or not he wasn’t a happy camper at the moment.

Location: Just left the auditorium in the hallway on his way to the main entrance.

Kannah Syllis

Location: Exiting Auditorium (hopefully)
Interacting with: F o o l i s h n e s s F o o l i s h n e s s

Kannah, usually a model student, really did try her absolute best to listen when The Principal began his speech, but the endeavor was doomed fairly early into the speech when the man noted that the most important rules were available in the packet they'd been given.

"...We have rules in place which we expect you to follow to enforce this, and while I expect you to read them in your student handbook..."

The words acted as a mental hall pass of sorts, giving Kannah the absolute freedom to let both her eyes and her mind wander around the room, her bright eyes strained wide in an effort to capture everything she could at once. Cat-folk, bear-folk, bird-folk... other...folk, not...folk? There was such a positively dizzying array of creatures present in the room, and Kannah found herself pleasantly surprised to realize she had no idea what most of them even were. Now she was attending the same school as them!

As the speech progressed, Kannah found herself catching small bits here and there. Some parts were naturally more interesting than others, and she was quick to tune out the seemingly mundane points in favor of scanning the oddities around the room yet again. Upon hearing that the students were each going to be assigned a buddy, however... the packet in her hands was all but torn open as Kannah spilled the contents over her lap, shuffling through the many included pages until she found what she was looking for. Orion Callswater. The girl's frame fell slightly as she saw the name. It was so... plain. Surely there'd been a mistake, and she'd been paired up with another human. Surely none of the majestic creatures she saw around her would have such a positively ordinary name. Resigned to disappointment, her gaze dropped once more to the page as she pulled it free of the rest of the packet, revealing the accompanying photograph.

A muffled squeak could be heard throughout the auditorium as Kannah only just managed to contain her excitement at seeing the creature she'd been paired with. He fell into one of her earlier categories, of either the "other-folk", or perhaps the "not-folk", but he was definitely something she hadn't seen before, with what appeared to be stars shimmering through his skin. Her eyes resumed searching through the throng of new students for the remainder of the speech, this time seeking out her soon-to-be "buddy", but before she knew it the speech had concluded and other students around her were beginning to stand. "Well, guess the first order of business is to find Orion." Kannah was quickly lost in the crowd of mostly-taller students, resigning herself to moving (mostly being pushed by the other larger students in the crowd,) in the general direction toward what she believed was the exit of the auditorium, with the picture of Orion hoisted in the air as far above her head as she could manage, in hopes he might happen to see it and find her.

Orion had dissociated with their surroundings for... the entire speech, almost as soon as he had sat down in his seat, somewhere in the middle, just finding a space and sitting down. His star-filled gaze wandering to the ceilings and the lights around the students, only keeping their head straight once the resonating sound of the thunderclap echoed through the chamber, "Ah.. what?.." Being the first words from Orion, his tone groggy as he was snapped out of his stupor, his eyes flickering across the student body before he felt a sharp poke against his cheek, near immediately grimacing before relaxing once more, rubbing the area he was poked. "What, I'm listening, I'm listening... or well rather, paying attention." The Starborn pulling the familiar from his shoulder, leaving the smaller humanoid but crystalline figure in his cupped palms as the students had begun to stand up in... various modes of locomotion.

Nova would just aggressively point to the packet that they were given, or at least likely now having fallen between the seats of the auditorium with the activities and wait. Orion groaning as he set the familiar down by the armrest to reach down in between the brief gap between the armrest and chair, eventually pulling it out with only mild irritation and rubbing of the skin. "Influence... fights... harass..." Orion disinterestedly scanning through the words, putting the rules at the back of the pile of papers as he caught eye of their buddy's picture, "Buddy... Kannah Syllis," Turning the image over towards the Luminous Shard for them to take a 'look' despite their lack of facial features before putting them back on their shoulder.

"Now... let's just try to find them!" The Starborn just looking over the area, clapping his hands twice, finding wet(?) broccoli and a floating(?) student, cocking his head side to side as he stood up, able to hold himself steady among the flood of people attempting to leave, mulling over the idea as he looked at Nova clinging to their shoulder for dear life, holding him up as a small mote of bright light among the lights of the auditorium - the equivalent of turning their phone's flashlight in an already lit room. Nova seeming to radiate both light and irritation that he is being used this way... though it seems to the more insightful that it is used to this.

"Kaaaaaaannnnnaaaaaah! Kaaaaaaannnnaaaah!" His voice somewhat drowned out the further one went, covered by idly conversation and the sounds of footsteps as he made his way further to the back of the auditorium until getting poked.. a bit harder than necessary by Nova (drawing a sharp inhale from Orion) as he gestures off to what seems to be a glimpse of Orion's picture before it got consumed by the hoard of people.

"Kaaaaaaannnnnaaaaaah! Kaaaaaaannnnaaaah! This is Oooorrrioooon! Try to stay by the doooooor once you get out!" Being called out, the Starborn following the flow of people outside himself, keeping an eye on the image that was thrust upwards, moving off to the side once they got outside, letting out a sigh now that he has escaped the hectic flow of students was over. Nova finally released as his light dimmed, voicing their discomfort throughout that with idle pokes against their neck and cheek. "Fine! Fine! I'm sorry, I won't squeeze so hard next time." The apology being met with a crossed-armed familiar, resting against Orion's neck and shoulder.

❣ Auditorium

➸ Interacting: Nessi Nessi
Fae Hartfield
Fae had been one of the first to arrive. Quiet, and mostly soundless. Like she always was. A wraith garned in swirling black. Her outfit consisted of a simple black romper with an overlaying skirt that swished and twirled around her knees. It was simple, just like many would assume her to be. She also wore tall white socks and simple black flats, making her seem almost shorter than she actually is. Although she was already pretty small. Her onyx sheep horns just gently curled out of the side of her head and glittered under the auditorium lights as she crept in and found a seat somewhere in the middle. Easily forgettable and unnoticeable to be exactly where everyone could see but overlook.

Eventually, other students found their seats. General small chatter and sounds of their welcome. Then the lights dimmed a bit and the President found his way center stage before giving a grandeur speech. By the end of it, there were audible grunts and groans to the supposed buddy system. This made Fae nervous, but not unwelcome. She grew up in a place that seemed like another world compared to the large and magnificent academy. Not necessarily in the streets, Fae's older sister had wormed her way into a low level of a famous crime organization. She refused to involve Fae in that way, but the money she made was enough to keep them fed and off the streets even if it was in the middle of a crime syndicate. The famous screams of torture keep even local officials away. It hadn't taken a young Fae long to figure out her place in the world. She was a demon. A sheep demon. She was looked down on from humans who ruled this world, and other demons who typically find sheep to be weak and soft things. There had been more than one opportunity of the syndicate's goonies to take it upon themselves to think they could get the mute little sheep to squeal. Every time they were proven quite dead wrong, literally.

After those incidents, Fae's older sister Selene took the reigns of their lives. She killed and manipulated her way to now the top of the food chain as the mob boss' right hand. She has become his personal assistant of death with deadly, sharpened abilities and weapons no fool would want to find themselves under. But at the end of the day, she gets to go home to her quiet, soft little sister who was her pride and joy since they were young. Their parents had perished from an illness easily found in the slums, taking the unimportants away with merely a breath. All of it was always for Fae, which was something Fae hated. Deeply. She hated to watch what her sister had created herself into. An instrument of death. But at the time, she had been too young to understand besides the trauma of losing their parents and scary, bad men who would try to hurt her every once in a while. She hated all of it. She was always angry at the world, yet her cool and mild disposition would make everyone around her see nothing. A forgettable breath of wind as she was, a walking wraith. When they received an invitation to the academy, Fae's growing abilities sparking an interest in someone higher above, and now that Selene had gained the status and money to support them with respect, Selene shipped her off without a second thought. She wanted Fae to have a second chance at a much better life for herself. So here she was, without even really a bag of her things. Her sister said she might ship it to her later, but with her hands always tied with work... Fae would just have to wait and see.

Her thoughts were easily interrupted as the President finished his speech. But then it didn't take long for chaos to ensue, making Fae question her entire life's existence. It didn't take long before a girl tripped at the feet of the President himself and wormed around and broccoli hailing from the sky. Bewildered and extremely startled, and definitely concerned for the status of the establishment as well as it's students and faculty, she quickly made haste to leave. She pulled her assigned folder with her to reveal a dark haired... human. She didn't hate humans, not by a long shot. But they made her uncomfortable from the years of mistreatment she got any time she tried to leave the syndicate's complex. After awhile, she stopped altogether and interacted very little with people besides Selene. Stepping into the hallway, she waited in a nook of an alcove as more and more students exited the auditorium. It didn't take long before she was there - Lia Daejun. Her new buddy who she'd be stuck with at least the rest of this year. Taking a deep breath to level herself, Fae approached. Her long white hair trailed behind her like wisps, her little black dress swirling around her knees like a wraith's cloak, and her shoes barely made a noise on the tile as she came face to face with the first human she had seen or spoken to in a long time. Fae met the girl's eyes with her own iridescent ones. Her eyes had no true color, but shifted into all colors depending on how you peered into her large doll-like eyes.

Taking one more quick breath, she spoke telepathically despite being mute. Lia?

Rosalina

The library was a sacred place, one chocked full of limitless knowledge waiting to be discovered. As books moved through the air on their own, each taking a path much like one's destiny, a tiny bear-girl was seen in the thick of the activity, hovering in the air without a care in the world. A book that was twice as large as her head was held within her palms, a slender hand flicking through its pages with relative ease, stopping every once in a while, before continuing once again to turn the page. They were silent, engulfed in the story that was being displayed to them in the tattered text. Then, with a final thwip, the adventure was finished, Rosalina shutting the cover.

Letting the large novel float out of her hands, she reached out for another passing by, this one much smaller in comparison. Its title read The Misgivings of Humanity. Perplexed, Rosalina readied herself to flip it open, and- Dren's presence came crashing in similar to a wave, another existence imposing in her life of solitude. They readily made themselves at home, plopping on her couch and speaking in a manner unbefitting two who recently became acquaintances at best. Then again, the Admiral had warned her not to ignore visitors, and to be open to conversation, even if it wasn't her strongest area of expertise. Not wishing to anger her savior, she held back the anxiety in her chest and carefully glided down to where Dren was, perching herself on top of the couch's backrest, her blue skirt eye-level with Dren's face.

Opening The Misgivings of Humanity to its first page, Rosalina brushed strands of blue hair out of her vision, her icy stare locked on the contents of her next read. She was able to speak to the snake-man all the same, multitasking being one of her greatest assets. "You're wearing clothes this time," she stated, her voice unwavering. His comment on her attendance came to a shock to her. Did he want me to be there? she questioned herself, uncertain as to why an instructor in the Soldier Branch had any interest in how she spent her time. It was his remark on the humans, however, that caused Rosalina to pause, the quick turning of pages stopping abruptly.

In that instant, a memory came to her, crystal clear, as if she had experienced it minutes prior. The vision of an unkempt human hand, along with long nails and dirt-smudged fingers, reached for her, as fear crawled over her shoulders and into the back of her head. She blinked twice, the image fluttering away just as quickly as it appeared, along with her panic. Had Dren sensed it? Her attention snapped to him, and yet she wasn't able to determine if he had or hadn't. It was best to let it go. No use wondering if the man had psychic powers.

"That's quite a broad question to ask, Professor Rieker. There's no way of knowing what the future may bring us, we can only watch as it unfolds." It was a standard answer, yes, but an accurate one at that. "I cannot fathom what the Principal is thinking. He sees a picture that none of us may ever see. It is not my right to question his ways." She twiddled her thumb over the corner of the page she was reading, mulling over something. "If you want my personal opinion, however, then may I be so bold as to state that my optimism for this project of his is rather . . . lacking."

For the first time, she turned to him, expressionless as she continued to speak. "Allow me to ask you a question of my own. A riddle. It can't be seen, can't be felt, can't be heard, and can't be smelt. It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after, Ends life, and kills laughter. What is it?"

As Katarn made his way through the bustle of students making their way to their studies, he opened his handbook and glanced at it, still walking forward. He wished he hadn't. Some sort of goat demon thing. Revolting. He'd put that off for as long as he could. He closed it and slipped it back into his pocket. He had noticed a few of the students making their way out of the building and outside, he opted to join them. Hopefully the stench of monsters that permeated his nostrils would abate somewhat. He found himself walking alongside a fellow student. Well, suppose he'd better start talking. His instructors had emphasized socializing in particular.

"Not one for crowds either, eh? Name's Katarn, what's yours?"

Aetil’s eyes scanned over the growing crowd, arms crossed in front as the room was kept just on verge of overpopulation. He currently sat in a designated spot near the side of the auditorium, easily in view of the faculty who waited patiently as the principal delivered his speech. The scope of species involved in this little program he had been dragged into was impressive, reminding him of the disjointed but functional legions he heralded not a few days before. However, the fiend severely doubted this attempt at cultural integration would be nearly as successful as the timeless infernal pits he was spawned from.

Why was he here then? He hadn’t been given much of a choice, having been summoned and bound to one of the on-site faculty and ‘asked’ to take part in their little social experiment. It was better than the alternative of being struck down where he stood so naturally he took the opportunity. He had already heard the list of rules and regulations that each student would have to abide by, including a few extra restrictions from his current ‘master’, however the buddy system was something new. “They could have at least come up with something better to call it than ’buddies’...” The man casually pulled open his own envelope as the speech drew to a close, flipping through the documents until he found a picture of a human woman with green hair. A small frown rested on his features for a moment before returning to normal. He wasn't partial to humans or non-humans, and he shouldn't have been surprised by the assignment given the explanation. Aiden Luna the name wasn’t familiar, not that he was expecting to be, and he soon rose with the rest of the crowd as they were dismissed, returning all but the picture to his envelope.

As he turned to leave he witnessed Nekomancers grand display sprawl out in front of him, and a small part of him was laughing internally as the man was buried in vegetables. Aetil was obligated to help the man with things as needed... however he believed getting between him and this cat-girl would be a very big mistake. Instead he skirted the situation entirely, working his way through the crowds towards the main exit. People were already beginning to shout out names as they tried to sort out where exactly their assigned buddy was located and he internalized a sigh as he followed the flow of the crowd, further studying the photo as he walked. In normal circumstances he would stick out like a sore thumb, having a figure that generally carved it’s way through a crowd. This was obviously not normal circumstances by any means, he'd have to remind himself of that from time to time, so instead he exited the auditorium as to get away from some of the hustle and bustle. There already were people pairing up as they found each other, but he gave them no mind as he continued. He posted up in the hallway to give him a clear view of the dispersing crowd while staying in the open, holding the photo in one hand as he kept scanning through for Aiden.

Jamo Konica
Auditorium

Jamo sat still, back straight, hands in lap. The auditorium's air was slightly musky, but he was relatively comfortable. The Principal went on with his speech; he listened intently, filing away information that was or might be important.

So far, he'd been rather disappointed with the school. It had the best budget, the best staff, the best facilities, but it seemed no better than his own house so far. The magic auditorium was a nice touch, he had to admit, but he hadn't seen much else. The list would get bigger as Jamo toured the rest of the school.

His fingers held the packet that he'd been given, and while his head was upright and pointed towards the stage, his eyes were skimming the handbook's pages. Not really able to concentrate on it, Jamo put the handbook down and started to pay more attention to the Principal. No blackmailing, no fighting, some sort of speech about the divide...

"...we have set up a buddy system where students will be paired up and asked to spend time together and eventually complete tasks together. You will all find a picture of your buddy in the packets we gave you along with your school ID." Jamo blinked once, and shuffled through his handbook again. There was a picture of a harpy there, or something of the sort. It was kinda gross, but Konica was neutral in the divide, so he'd make sure not to be too biased.

The Principal talked about socializing for the day, but then something he said caught Jamo's attention. "...you have been assigned, roommates!"

Great. Roomates. Just what I needed.

Jamo stood up along with the majority of others, and stood patiently as people started to file out. Konica were polite to others, and he didn't want to get entangled with them anyways; he was bound to mess up somehow. Once the flood slowed to a trickle, he finally started to head towards the exit. His...buddy...would probably have left already, and if she hadn't, that was all the more time for him to get used to the school.

Aimi sat smack dab in the middle of the auditorium, excitedly awaiting the Principal's speech. Her long tail made agitated swipes back and forth as her bright, curious eyes roamed the hall and the occupants inside it. It was more than she had ever imagined! Being next in line to rule her tribe, Aimi had met and engaged with a few members of other races in her lifetime, but never had she seen such an eclectic assembly of individuals before!

Nestled on her shoulder, Aimi's familiar Juni chittered gently at the girl. "Oh Juni, look at everything! Isn't it amazing? Who knew there were so many different kinds of beings?" Aimi motioned towards the front, where a tall, dark male stood. "I mean, just look at those horns! They're huge! What even is that guy, Juni?" A small paw placed itself on her cheek, Juni's chittering taking on a more exasperated tone. "Oh, was I too loud just then? I hope no one overheard..." Aimi chuckled nervously.
Just then, a steady, commanding voice diverted her attention back to the stage. The Principal had begun his introduction speech. Determined not to miss any word, Aimi's fluffy ears swiveled forward as she straightened herself in her seat.

"Welcome to Visian Academy," the Principal began, "and the future of this kingdom."

Aimi tried to pay attention, she really did, but how could she focus on only one thing when there were so many more interesting diversions to look at? She caught sight of a Beastfolk, who could be considered cousins of the Neko race, and the large, flashy weapon strapped to his back. She studied a human man, whose face was set in an icy expression, and wondered who peed in his cereal that morning. She briefly made eye contact with a human girl, who had a pair of roaming hazel eyes perhaps as curious as her own. Juni, meanwhile, knowing there was no chance of getting Aimi to focus in her curiosity-addled state, resigned himself to pay attention and relay the information to her later.

"...we have set up a buddy system where students will be paired up and asked to spend time together..." at those words, both the Neko and her familiar perked up. Actually, for the little animal, it was more like he puffed up - in horror. Juni's distressed chitters went ignored, however, in the face of Aimi's enthusiasm - she couldn't help the laugh that bubbled out of her. "Hahahaha!" What would the elders say about this if they knew? I, their precious princess, all buddied up with one of those "filthy" humans! she thought. The idea of essentially spitting on their biggest rule in such a glorious fashion only made the entire situation even more appealing to Aimi.

She was far from the only one to respond in such a shocked manner. All around her the air shifted, as cries of disdain and pleasure sounded across the auditorium. The Principal, unfazed, wrapped up his speech. "As long as you put in the effort to grow, we will see you to ever greater heights! I will stay here for a little while to answer any questions you may have." With those final words, they were dismissed.

Aimi bounced up on her feet and eagerly opened up the packet she had received, looking for the one who would be her buddy for the duration of her attendance at the Academy. Juni continued to rant, squeaking and chittering into her ears.
"Oh shush, Juni," she quickly ran her fingers through the pink ruff at the back of Juni's neck, attempting to calm the little creature. "It will be fine, I know how to handle myself around danger. Plus, I have you with me, so there's no need to worry," the Neko girl cradled him against her cheek, before settling Juni back on her shoulder. "Besides, I'll finally get to know what a real live human being is like! As long as no one from back home finds out, everything will be fine."

Aimi flipped the page and found a picture of who she assumed to be her buddy. "Eternal Darkness, huh... what a strange name!" A seemingly ordinary boy stared back up at her from the photo. However, his plain looks didn't deter Aimi's optimism one bit. "Well, whoever he is, I hope he's friendly." A wide grin spread across the girl's face as she bounded toward the doors. "C'mon, Juni, let's go find him!"

"This feels so strange," thought the Felinis as he remained seated on his chair, awkwardly studying the growing group of students gathering inside the auditorium. His hazel eyes darted from one row of students to the next, and then the next, and the next once more, until his eyes stung from prolonged exposure to air. He couldn't help but feel his bare foot doing maddeningly quick taps against the smooth, wooden boards, or the sensation of his tail swishing anxiously behind him. He was sure that he appeared like an addict craving a quick fix to anyone in close proximity to himself, but it was an inconsolable feeling. Having so many humans around him made him feel so vulnerable, as if he was going to be stabbed in the back by a pro-human sympathizer. All of this agitated him. It wasn't like him to position himself in such an exposed manner... Second thoughts began creeping in. He was way in over his head, he monologues internally, believing just a few months earlier that this would be a great idea in order to give his father's ideologies a chance to become a reality. That this, the great Visian Academy, the spark that would ignite a peace between humans and nonhumans, would be the perfect place to test the nature of man in it's most controversial environment.

But... just what was this sensation? It wasn't truly fear that was making him jittery; he knew that no one would be foolish enough to do something now of all times. Evan didn't remember the last time he felt this way, not even during an uphill, losing battle. And then, before he was able to answer his own question, he sees the man rise towards the podium, and he feels his fur pointing at ends with every word that he speaks. Evan's movements cease entirely as he focuses on the figurehead of the faculty, the Principal. Evan couldn't help but reveal a nervous grin, likely unnoticed in the sea of students before him. The speech, the Beastfolk recognized, had a perverse aura, one that was menacing, yet entailed a sense of just cause. Was he wrong about it? He couldn't tell. But the one thing that his instincts were telling him was that this audience— these students he would be sharing this academy with —were in summation, giving off a similar feeling. Human, inhuman; equity, and control. And more importantly, the test of strength between these two opposing forces; it wasn't fear, he realized, but a rush of excitement that was boiling his blood.

A wider grin than before reveals two rows of fangs, the entirety of his pride gleaming off of them. Or at least, for a second or two until his revelation is interrupted by the sound of scraping chairs, murmuring voices, and thudding footsteps. The speech had ended, and the other students were already on the move.

Evan snaps back into reality, focusing on the first item of his first day. "Oh right, something about a buddy and roommate," he says with a quick nod as he follows the crowd outside. Carefully, he opens the handbook and sifts over the texts. He strains his eyes at the words, not because he cannot see, but because he wasn't entirely literately capable. As someone who grew up in a nomadic tribe, he knew the basics of certain languages that his tribe had picked up along different routes. But usually, it was a few who were in charge of acting as scribes, while the rest focused on their own roles as providers and caretakers.

"Tac Yssup? What an interesting name," Evan mutters once he finally makes out the words right. Without much thought, he steps over a mound of green florets, hardly paying attention to what it was, or who was underneath, as he repeats the name once more in an attempt to memorize it. He scratches his head in disbelief, wondering how he would find his buddy in this crowd without sticking out, like that fellow jumping into the air, or the one shouting with a bright light overhead. His attention is diverted to the photo, eyeing the still of the man donned in black. Were those cat ears under his hood? It seems maybe he got lucky, landing a nonhuman cat friend to be roomies with.

He breaks out of his distracting thoughts and somehow finds he had ended up near the main entrance of the school. He looks around for a moment, noticing that the crowds had dispersed a bit in this location. Maybe it might be best to ask for help from some other students? After all, there was nothing wrong with helping each other out. Just then, while walking down the hall, he notices a human attempting to socialize with another, both seemingly around his age, though the blonde one looked a bit agitated as he walked with a cigarette in hand. But Evan's mentality was fixed on socializing, focusing on closing the gap in distance between himself and the humans.

"Hi, my name's Evan. Could I ask you two for a bit of help looking for my buddy?" he finally speaks, though a bit nervously. "His name is... 'Tac... Yssup?' He looks like this," he finishes while holding up his picture in the guidebook.

Cindra
Mentioned: Violetti Violetti TheImmortalDeity TheImmortalDeity Location: Auditorium

Cindra sat in the spot assigned to her with a hand on the hilt of her blade and her eyes on the crowd of students finding their way in. She began assessing threat levels based on her previous experiences with the races she knew and how they carried themselves. From what she could tell there were some that were obviously trained and were trying to hide it but they were the vast minority. Beyond that she saw some that had received training along with a smattering of those had learned from live combat but the majority seemed to have never even tried fighting. Cindra had to suppress the urge to sigh at the pitiful results. If she was really meant to turn these kids into killers that could fight in wars it was going to be a tough job. The entire academy idea seemed doomed to failure and she would have refused to be a teacher here had the king not informed her it was the Admiral's pet project that he had full control of.

There were two men in this world who could command her full loyalty and they were King Zarin and the Admiral. If she was forced into answering who between the two she trusted and respected more though she would have to say the Admiral. She knew King Zarin was a wise man and an excellent king but his job was to command from the back and look at the kingdom's entire situation which left him lacking in tactical and practical abilities. The Admiral however had been on the front lines and led war efforts. Rumors about him in the military camps were more common than sweaty men and more coveted than a fresh latrine. Her favorite stories about him were from supposedly from long before she was born and featured him deciding to end a war by single-handedly destroying the enemy army and walking into the enemy capitol before returning with their monarch ready to surrender. She turned to look at the Admiral as her thought strayed to the legends about him. Despite being in full military garb he seemed so normal and almost approachable but she knew he could be anything but that. This time at the academy was the second time she had seen the man. The first time he had visited their military camp by surprise for an inspection and everything about him commanded respect and obedience. She had been so excited to follow in the entourage that showed him around camp but then the most terrifying moment of her life happened. When they brought him to the prison tents they heard excited yelling from within and soon discovered some of the soldiers had pit the prisoners against each other in fights to the death for sport. As soon as they discovered this she felt every hair on her body stand as her instincts said to run but instead she turned and saw the Admiral frowning before he walked over to the ringleader and began speaking to them. Cindra knew the man was the second son of a minor noble family but after that day she never saw him again and found out his family moved away from the capitol and withdrew from the military entirely.

If that man decided to back this academy and wanted her here as a teacher then she would do everything she could to help whatever plan he had come to fruition. So here she sat in the auditorium listening to the end of his speech before internally groaning again. If this mess of monsters and kids were expected to buddy up and supervise themselves for the day a death was guaranteed. She stood and readied to move out and work security but found chaos erupting around her. The heretic mage Tac had flailed himself to the ground in what appeared to be ecstasy mere moments before one of those horrible neko monsters tripped on him. Before Cindra could turn and leave though the monster sprung to her feet and began performing magic. Luckily before Cindra drew her blade the spell revealed itself as a peaceful summoning of rations. After assessing the heretic was safe she turned and hurried towards the auditorium entrance in an effort to get away before the situation developed as anyone who had heard about the heretic knew it would.

As the entrance speech came to a close, Katarina studied the pamphlet in her hands, a tense look plastered on her face. She stared at the picture displayed on the page, searching for some inkling of recognition. Reading the name shown below, she jogged her brain for any information she could have on "Winston Mistbrewer." A sigh escaped her lips as she concluded she knew nothing about her buddy. Katarina glanced around the packed room, her mind racing. Just who was this man she had been paired with? Was he human? If his picture was anything to go by, he certainly appeared so. A realization dawned on her as she studied her surroundings. If the goal of the buddy system was to promote racial equality, wouldn't that mean all human students had been paired with non-humans? If Winston was human, would he be smart enough to pick up on this fact too? Had her cover already been blown? She shook her head, standing up. "Focus, Kat," she told herself. "As far as anyone has ever known, you're human. Calm down."

Taking a deep breath, Katarina walked towards the edge of the auditorium. A loud thud resounded from the opposite side of the room. She turned towards the sound and saw a rain of green falling from above a Neko girl. "Was that... broccoli?" She suddenly questioned her decision to attend Visian Academy. Just what had she gotten herself into? Maybe her parents were right for not wanting her to come here. When she had first told them of the invitation to join the academy, they had laughed, calling the King's pet project foolish and over-optimistic. Living a life of nobility, Katarina was all too familiar with the judgment of non-humans. Every time she went to a soirée or one of her father's business meetings she was reminded of how unfairly non-humans were treated. How unfairly she would be treated if anyone knew what her family was. Her entire life she'd had to play a part, be somebody she wasn't. The world was a stage, and Katarina was the unwilling star of the show. Katarina was tired of hiding who she was. She wanted to be able to be herself without putting her family's livelihood in jeopardy.

She searched the crowd, her eyes scanning over everyone in view. She had been in plenty of packed rooms in her lifetime, but never one such as this. Katarina had never seen so many humans and non-humans in the same place before. It both terrified and excited her. Looking towards the exit, she noticed a man in a wispy, cool cloak standing by the door, seemingly not phased by the chaos around him. She held out Winston's picture, comparing it to the cloaked figure.
"That must be him," she thought. As she walked towards the man, she prepared herself for what lied ahead. "Remember your manners, Katarina. You don't want to make a bad impression on your first day." Putting a plastic smile on her face, she approached the man in question. "Winston?" She extended her hand, offering a handshake in greeting. "Katarina Crowe. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Scathrai Deiyan
Location:
Visian Academy, Auditorium
Mentions: Silvis Silvis , TheImmortalDeity TheImmortalDeity , Violetti Violetti ||Interactions: LilMissSunshine LilMissSunshine , Arvios Arvios , Dante Verren Dante Verren

Scathrai paced his room aimlessly. The hubbub of the tavern made a helped compliment how... full this city was. It seemed as if the whole world was crammed into the boundary of the city. It was all too much for Scath. The first thing he did? Well, aside from buying a honey scone- make that two, Evenlynn wanted one as well- from the first pastry shop that he entered. He retreated into his tavern room that he rented for the night, and quietly began the process of drawing his adventure. There were already other maps of the kingdom around, but Scath only used those as reference points. He worked late into the night, drowning his worries of a new era of his life in the pen and ink of his art.

...But even Scath had to sleep. And that meant he had to face a new day. Here he stood. Better get himself ready... First things first, make sure he looked normal. As he glanced at the mirror his parents bought for him as a graduation gift, he made sure that his pale white skin slowly darkened into the tan that made him look like he worked all day in the sun; that his eyes weren't the glowing blue embers that screamed out magical being, but rather a normal, albeit piercing, shade of blue. And his hair was reverted to a normal coarse black, instead of the wispy trails of black that extended whenever Scath moved his head too much. And then... well, it was time to pack up everything again, and enter the college.

Evelynn loudly chirred in Scath's ear- at least, it was loud to Scath, who was on the receiving end of Evelynn practically pushing her muzzle in his ear and practically screaming at him to pay attention. After cringing a bit from Evelynn's reprimand, he gently put a finger on her lower jaw and forced her head away from his ear. Evelynn just snickered, and settled down on her spot around his shoulders. So, the principal- he never heard the man introduce his name in his speech- was just laying out the rules, which was already in the pamphlet. Scath could've guessed that. But then, the principal spoke of a 'buddy system.' Scath admitted, the thought of forcibly being with someone was both exciting and terrifying. He just hoped that whoever he was paired up with wasn't too aggressive. Or inquisitive. Or terrifying. Or-

Evelynn nipped him on the ear. He grimaced at the pain, glancing reproachfully at her, before realizing that she was simply making sure he didn't brood. He smiled wanly and scratched her ear. Whatever magic the mapmaker had put into Evelynn's body, it was certainly powerful. A clockwork body that functioned almost exactly like a real animals? Fascinating. Just like this auditorium was. Why was it never full? He would need to figure out what magic it was. But right now, he had to pay attention to the principal. Before Evelynn nipped him again. He turned his attention back to the principal, who was finishing off by explaining the dorm situation. And with that done, the auditorium became a mess of students milling about, some heading to the principal and teachers for questions, others looking around for their buddies, and a few just trying to get away. Something that Scath really wanted to do himself.

But then, something happened. Someone tripped, and someone else- a 'monster,' though Scath abhorred that term applied that way- starting apologizing and.... dumping broccoli on him? 'Errrruhhmm... I think this is one of those cases where it's best not to think about it...' Scath thought to himself. But then, a voice bellowed out above the rest. And it called a single name. A name that filled Scath with doom. "Hey Scathrai, where are you buddy!" Oh no. Ohnoohnoohno. He was not ready for this. He was most definitely not.

Evelynn, on the other hand, was. With a gleeful laughing sound that only one of foxkind could make, she lept off of Scath's shoulders and promptly took a hold of his pants leg. And with that hold, Evelynn had won. There was no way in all of the planes that Scath would ever hurt Evelynn by kicking her away from him, and if she tugged hard enough, well, that would be bad news for his pants. So, Scath was forced to follow Evelynn as she made her frantic way towards the caller of Scath's name. "Frantic" being the key word.

"H-hey! Slow down!" Scath was running into everyone, and Evelynn was not letting up the pace. As he bumped against everyone like a cart tumbling down a rocky slope, he tried apologizing. In one instance, Evelynn narrowly avoided the legs of a girl- she had cat ears and copperish hair. However, Scath didn't. He managed to make it so that he didn't crash into her, but he did bump roughly into her shoulder. With flaming cheeks, Scath barely had time to call out, "I-I'm really sorry!" in as loud a voice as his timid self could manage before Evelynn pulled him further into the crowd. He could be heard complaining to Evelynn, "A-At least give me time to apologize to people!"

Another case: As Evelynn dragged Scath around, she suddenly made a ninety degree turn. Which, unfortunately, Scath wasn't capable of. As such, he bumped into a rather wild-looking feline humanoid. Again, Evelynn left Scath no time to apologize, but he still managed to call back out, "I d-didn't mean to do that! Sorry!" At which soon after, Scath said to Evelynn, "I-I can walk fine without you dragging me, you know!"

Evelynn just did her typical laughter, if a bit muffled. Her plan was working perfectly.

After running into what seemed like a veritable town of people, Evelynn finally led Scath to where they were supposed to go: in front of a guy around Scath's age, and slightly taller- maybe an inch? But it was at this point that Evelynn finally let go of Scath, and started weaving her way between his legs. Basically a strategy to trip him if he ran away. Clever little vixen. But that wasn't Scath's main worry; he spent a good moment just staring at the other fellow, mind terrified and blank. That was, until Evelynn intervened again. This time, by nipping his heel. After jumping a bit at the sudden pain, Scath managed to squeak out, "Hello there. I'm Scathrai.... Wh-what's your name?" It was at this point that Evelynn finally got out from underneath Scath's legs, clambering back up to her beloved spot around his shoulders, and chirring encouragingly at him.

The environment certainly was different from her household - one that she had gotten used to for the past two years of being locked inside for her own protection. She was still astounded by the fact that Visian Academy had came to be, as the dispute between humans and non-humans run deeply within the veins of each of them. To set aside such an ancient grudge seemed like a far fetched idea, and yet here they all were, living that very same idea. Though, this solidarity was not the reason that the Dubloit family had decided to send her there - though it certainly did help - no, they came for the reason of knowledge. With such a variety of faculty, there was bound to be new things to learn and she was looking forward to what she can bring back to her family.

Though she was one of the first to come to the auditorium, Erika had sat herself at the back row. If anything, it was because Kaida didn't feel too comfortable with many people around and she doubted they would appreciate him phasing through people. Thankfully, the fox had managed to calm himself down and curled up on Erika's lap as they waited for the speech to start.

The principal had come onstage to speak. Erika didn't know much about him - though, as far as she knew, no one did. They only knew him as a war hero of sorts but through all of her research, Erika had come with nothing. He was quite a curious man. To be hailed as something as great as a war hero yet no information could be found - well, it was either he wanted to leave his life peacefully afterwards or he was hiding something bigger. Nevertheless, he seemed like a very capable man who she wouldn't dare cross.

She took out the packets and slipped out the picture and name of her assigned 'buddy'. It was an interesting idea too. She just hoped that her buddy would be easy to get along with. Or at the very least, isn't the type to immediately jump the gun because she's a non-human. Visian is a revolutionary concept, but that didn't mean everyone inside the academy had the same mindset. She absentmindedly thought about the consequences of blatant racism in this academy. Would the staff or the principal himself step in for it?

The principal finished up his speech and the students began to disperse. She looked around for a moment as she patted Kaida's back. It would be for the best to get an aerial view to find this Everett Aldonis and to start their little adventure around the university. She floated up and past the doors, keeping a lookout for the blonde haired male.

All things peaceful and genuine were brave to exist on this special little day, where the refreshing and peaceful air of Visian Academy welcomed students from afar. From across the continent, and perhaps even from across the world. Humans and non-humans alike. And much like a dead rodent captured by a feline, there was a girl who found herself inexplicably dragged to the compounds. It wasn’t by force; No one held a blade to her head at the very least, and it wasn’t by any charming convincer. Instead, life and its humor found it necessary to bring Aiden here.

Steady- Aiden kept her steps steady and her head held high as she sought a seat in the auditorium. Many seats on the edges had already been taken, and by no means, was she going to take a front seat. And so, after brushing by a few non-humans - and after brushing away any dirt that could’ve latched onto her during the time she accidentally touched their dirty inhuman legs - Aiden found a seat somewhere in the middle of a row towards back. Here, she finally took in the affair's grandeur. Hundreds of students herded into a fantastical auditorium where the room was neither too warm nor too cold (she imagined magic was to blame for this) and the lack of bloodshed had also gotten her eye. “How long could this last?” She scoffed. Peace. She was speaking about peace.

Soon enough, the principal had begun to speak. Telling of the rules- to which Aiden promptly ignored hearing- and revealing a bit of his scheme to bring unity among the races. A buddy system, one Aiden could not dread more, and roommates (Oh my god, they were roommates). Aiden ruffled through her assignment packet, and there it was: Her buddy. A non-human - a creature. Aiden stared blankly at the image, questioning whether or not it was real. The principal seemed serious, and he was quite a serious-looking man. “It must be a joke.” She whispered to herself, with the same sort of whisper one might expect from someone yelling to someone else from across a stadium. Yes. It was loud. But the world had vanished itself from Aiden’s mind as she shoved the picture back into its packet. Once they were free to leave, Aiden stood up and walked with the crowd. Behind her, somewhere, she heard and felt the tumbling of two bodies, then the popping of thunderclap. However, she promptly ignored it all. “Nope. I’m not doing it. They can’t make me. No. Nope,” Aiden accepted her words under her breath. “I didn’t even know such hideous things could even exist,” she said. And with each extra push and bump from a non-human, Aiden knew she needed to find a peaceful place, ideally one far from any hideous creatures, where she could lie down, and perhaps die. Death might very well be more rewarding than staying here. Rather cruelly, she almost envied her dead family’s fate, only to retract the thought later with a somber humbling.

Soon enough she made it to the hallway and broke from the crowd. This was no time to linger. She could sense the headache coming on. To make matters oh so much worse, her eyes moved swiftly from the floor up into the eyes of it. The Little Devil. Aetil. She knew it saw her, and she knew it, knew she saw it. And with a mechanical-like motion, Aiden looked away and kept walking. Whether or not she was close to it did not matter as long it got the memo: she and it were not to be associated. And she couldn’t tell if it or something else had spoken, but it did not deter her from sprinting away in an unattractive hurry. She screamed, “Noooooooooo--”

It was then, Aiden knew, the worst days of her life had just begun. “—Noooooooo!”

Jaycee Cormac
Location: Auditorium
Upon landing back on the ground Jaycee watched as more and more students began to funnel there way out of the auditorium. It looks like his small use of Thunderclap was pretty much ignored except for a a few glances that he got. As long as the one it was meant for didn't ignore his call out then that was fine with him. Step one was to befriend this Scathrai guy, step two would be to start making other friends. That being said should he go looking for Scathrai or should he just stay put. Hmmmmmm, staying put was probably the best bet. After all what would have been the point of making a bit of a scene if not to lure his friend to be to his location. "Brace yourself Scathrai! Friendship is imminent" the young man thought to himself.

Jaycee did his absolute best to remain in his current spot, but it wasn't easy. He had to forcibly keep his hands and feet away from each other so he didn't set off a thunderclap without thinking about it. At home that wouldn't really be a problem, Mom, Dad, and the farm hands would just chuckle at him then everything would go back to usual, but here he had to be more refined. Sure the rules said that you couldn't use your position against other students or staff but there were still nobles here. Even though his family was well off the Cormac's weren't nobles so there was still a certain level of respect he had to have for the nobility. Granted he will probably end up ignoring it any way, but that doesn't mean he can't still try to maintain it for at least the first day!

After a few moments of waiting his eyes finally caught sight of a figure clumsily making there way through the crowd, you know its pretty clumsy when even Jaycee thinks its clumsy. Turns out the reason for that was because his new friend wasn't walking on his own. An adorable little fox thing was dragging him around leading Jaycee's new friend right to him. Okay saying fox thing sounds pretty bad when you are in a school full of Non-humans but the creature looked like a fox made of metal. It was both adorable, cool, and confusing all at once. The man was eventually led to Jaycee and the two stood there staring at each other for a moment. Jaycee kept his smile up the whole time while he ran through the pose he decided on this morning. Surprisingly enough it was Scathrai who made the first move by introducing himself.

Jaycee's smile grew a little bigger and he scrapped the pose idea, that would probably find better use in a different situation. Instead Jaycee just simply extended his right hand out to the slightly shorter man. "Names Jaycee! It is great to meet you." Short, simple, and right to the point. That was the kind of introduction his gut was telling him to use. Now if only his gut had told him to stop talking. "I like your familiar. I have never seen anything like it before but it looks really cool. Man I wish I had a familiar too, I bet it would be something really cool like yours." With his left hand Jaycee scratched the side of his neck, muscle memory from what he used to when he would start to feel nervous. "So want to go get cracking on that Icebreaker? Go check out the academy, find our dorms, and other stuff like that?" glancing around quickly just to make sure nobody else was too close he lowered his voice to a Jaycee whisper, "Or did you want to go talk to some other students. Between you and me I saw some pretty cute girls walk out of the auditorium just a minute ago. We can probably go catch up to them if that is what your interested in?"

Winston Mistbrewer
Auditorium
WoolooQueen WoolooQueen (Katarina Crowe)

Winston sat in the back of the auditorium. He was accustomed to not being seen by anybody else, and he had chosen the perfect spot. Nobody was behind him, and there weren't people on either side of him either. It wasn't too comfortable, but it was good enough. He was starting to regret wearing his cloak; it was kinda hot and itchy, but it looked cool with his other cool clothing, so he had worn it to the first day. After today he would definitely ditch the cloak and just wear casual clothing.

As the room filled up, he thought about what he would do the first day. While on the way, Winston had thought he would go straight to the libraries, rumored to be ginormous and full of knowledge, but the trip to the academy had gotten him tired, and a few of his muscles ached. There'd be plenty of time to catalog knowledge later. It'd probably be better for him not to burn himself out in the first week of Visian Academy or so.

The Principal made his speech, while Winston just skimmed through the handbook. He had a short attention span when it came to speeches and such, so he had taken the time to look through his handbook, which was proving to be a wise choice. There were buddies, apparently, and there was a photo of his in the handbook. Katarina Crowe. Hmm. Weird name. He glanced at the photo and moved on. His student ID was there too, with his photo and everything. After pocketing that, he flipped the page. A long list of rules stared back at him.

Winston read through the first few lines, but then he saw in his peripheral vision some people in front of him starting to stand up. After looking around, he realized the Principal's speech was finished and they were dismissed. It was...odd. Back at home speeches usually lasted for thirty minutes at most. Standing up, he put his hand in his pocket to make sure his ID didn't fall out and started to make his way down to the exit as fast as possible.

He got stuck behind a choke point. There were a lot of students trying to make it to the exit, and it made a spot where there was a small line that was constantly being filled with others trying to get out. After waiting for a minute or two, the path had finally cleared, and he started to get down to the exit. The room was still pretty crowded. It was clear that the people in his section of the auditorium were in more of a hurry for whatever reason. Once he made it to the door, he hesitated, realizing that once people got out of the exits it'd be harder to find his buddy in the corridors opposed to this huge room that everyone was in.

After a few seconds of scanning, he saw someone else come up to him; he recognized her as Katarina, and she came up to him with a forced smile on her face. "Winston?" She held out her hand."Katarina Crowe. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Winston glanced at her. She was polite. That was good. Hopefully, she wasn't obnoxious or anything. He shook her hand and said, "Same. Uhhh, what do we do now?"

Shoot, the Principal probably said that in his speech. Hmm. Note to self, listen to people today.
