Realistic or Modern Vinland Characters

Here’s an example format for a character-

Name: Gunnar Tostigson

Age: 24

Nationality: Norse

Status: Minor Noble

Religion: Norse/Germanic Polytheist

Appearance or Picture: Tall and muscular with long, light brown hair, pale skin and grey-blue eyes. Gunnar often sports a Mjolnir pedant and has various tattoos.

Basic Personaility Components: Brash, emotional, curious, diligent.

Basic Background: Gunnar hails from a minor tribal family from northern Norway- one of the few outside of the colonies that still is majority Norse Polytheist. Being the fifth out of six sons, Gunnar is most likely not in the position to inherit anything- even if his home chiefdom survives the oncoming Christian tide that is now sponsored by the state. With this in mind, Gunnar took to the business of trade with the generally friendlier Norse colonies of Iceland and Greenland while doing the occasional sell-sword job for their squabbling nobles. Gunnar hopes overall to make a name for himself.

Personality: Stoic, brave, headstrong, stubborn

Background: Rorik was born the bastard son of a Jarl and an Irish servant in what is modern day Sweden. His mother was taken prisoner when she was a teenager, and became pregant after his father got too intimate with her. He was of course cast out of society, ostricized and bullied by his peers and denied anything by his father. His mother struggled to provide for her son, though she eventually died of sickness when Rorik was sixteen. He'd always been a strong person, both physically and emotionally, so he grabbed an axe he found, gathered as much food as he could, and travelled into the forest, ready to make something of himself. He survived in the cold, unforgiving forests for over two months, fashioning a cloak from a wolf he killed and living in a nearby cave. He came back with a nasty scar, a wolf skin cloak, a massive bear skin, and a wolf pup he found after killing a wolf pack. He named the pup Wulfgar, and it's since become a massive wolf and a loyal companion. Rorik's father had no choice but to reward his son, and so he named Rorik a Thane, and gave him his title: Ice-Veins, since it's as if ice runs through his very veins. He later received a greatsword after repaying a blood debt for his father, along with the hand of a beautiful maiden named Freydis. They have one son named Galmar, who's three years old by now.
