Vescleuan - Creature of the night

Every child has heard the horror story from their parents since they were born each and every night before going to bed to remind them to be thankful and pray to the God of Desire as much as they can. A nation raised in fear and far apart from our known reality, loyal to an unknown god is confident about the existence of the supernatural. The God of Desire rules over their world and the lives of everyone on there. In exchange for their eternal and unlimited LOVE (love, obedience, violence and euphoria) he is willing to stop the Vescleuan from destroying the world.

No one would ever dare to question the existence of their god since they love him with all their mind and body, through and through. There is no romance between humans only reproductional rituals to keep the number constant. LOVE only belongs to the God of Desire who decides the way of it.

Not only good things happen under the god's domination but violence is an important part of it as well. Every disbeliever must die as cruel as possible to satisfy the god. Any words against him will be followed by a punishment. The soul and flesh has no other way but understanding the importance of LOVE if needed by pain and suffering.
Story
A young woman was once pregnant after a reproductional ritual. Her child was said to be the incarnation of the God of Desire. It was raised better than any other child and was treated as the god himself. When he reached adulthood he was even stricter about the religion than the Book of Lore. His lust for power was at an infinite level so that he wanted to take over the world. With his Great Army of Violence he almost made it but there was still one place which he didn't get to control. It freaked him out and he wanted more and more sacrafices. While the safe heaven was still popultated by humans who have never believed in a god he planned on taking over the land and enslaving its habitants.
So it was the believers vs the nonbelievers until one party would win.
There was a young adult on each side and those two should meet one day and decide about the world's destiny.
When X somehow was caught by the believers X did anything to escape and succeeded. But that was not the end. X found an empty place which wasn't actually empty. X then met the believer Y which X wanted to extort so X could stay. After a while Y was too afraid to tell anyone anyway because Y would be punished for hiding a nonbeliever. Both stayed together and hid until someday they began to learn from each other and fell in love. It wasn't right. What will they choose? Escape or fight?
