Adrian crept silently through the large room, slipping between shelves in hopes of locating one of the rats either by sight or sound. He didn't find a thing. All that was in sight was books, books, and more books. Sighing with frustration, he kicked idly at the base of one of the large, heavy shelves. Mistakes were made. Hopping on one foot as he clutched at the other, Adrian spewed a series of curses not to be repeated in polite company. Thankfully, he still had the sense to keep the noise down, stifling his cries after the initial pain faded.
Bringing his foot back to the ground gingerly, Adrian cast a surly gaze across the rows. Was there even a rat here? While they had seen one out in the entrance hall and wherever there was one rodent, there was surely more to be found, that didn't mean they were everywhere. It was quite possible that the area was entirely pest-free, especially with there being no food in sight to attract the voracious creatures. Adrian nodded resolutely, growing more assured by the second that the trio was wasting their time. There was no way they were going to find a rat here. Alas, it seemed that the universe was trying its hardest to prove him wrong whenever possible.
"Hey!" Ravyn's voice rang out across the library, imbued with all the purpose of an annoyingly petty universe. "I found a rat and got information! Can someone see if they can find a floor plan?"
Hearing her cry, Adrian abandoned his futile search of the aisles and hurried back. He quickly tracked Ravyn down and approached. He glanced around but saw no rodent. Well, whatever. If Ravyn said she spoke with a rat, he'd take her at her word.
"A... floor plan?" Adrian scratched the back of his head. "I don't think there's one here. At the very least, if there is one, it's not anywhere obvious. I've searched pretty much the entire room and I haven't seen anything like that. The only thing I haven't looked at are, well, those." He turned to gesture at the numerous shelves filled with countless books. "But why do we need a floor plan? What did you hear?"
