In 1991, A very beautiful Tabletop storytelling game was introduced to the world, called Vampire: the masquerade. It has grown in popularity over the years, becoming subjects for video games, (vampire the masuerade: Bloodlines), books, and even a T.V. Show! (Kindred: The Embraced)
I used to GM a roleplay using the core rules to this game and it was quite successful until a few friends got too busy and had to leave. Either way, i've decided it would probably be a good idea to start it back up on this website since I've become familiar with roleplaying here. Basically, it will use all the original rules of the storytelling game, of course toning down a bit, to make it less complicated for the age group we're playing with here.
Instead of using a point based skill system and things like that, we will make it just how the points are distributed in the original game. Also using the original three focuses,(Physical, Social, and Mental.). So each of those focuses will be put into three categories, (Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary). For example. if you have some one who is a hacker, their scores might be,
Primary: Mental, Secondary: Physical, and Tertiary: Social.
Making them, Highly intelligent, only somewhat skilled at defending themselves, and horrible at social interactions.
Each character will only have to keep track of three things, Blood points, willpower points, and health points.
These will each determine how the character roleplays. The blood points will be earned from drinking the blood of humans, (obviously). Willpower points will be used when you need to redo a dice roll or push past vampiric limits. Willpower points can be restored by indulging in a vice. While health points is determined in lethal and bashing damage. I'll explain more in the next paragraph.
In health for example, most characters will start out with 5-10 health points considering how good their physical skill is, *(Primary: 10 HP, Secondary: 7 HP, Tertiary: 5 HP)
There will only be two types of damage, rather than having three from the old game, to keep it simple.
Lethal damage (cutting, stabbing, shooting) and bashing damage, (punching, kicking, bludgeoning)
Lethal will always do 1 point of damage considering how many times there was a success and depending on the strength of the weapon. Bashing damage will always normally do .5 damage on every success and a bonus depending on the weapon.
I know it sounds like a lot at first, but hopefully over time, it will sink in (pun intended) to everyone's minds. Story wise though, I have a whole thing planned out. I don't intend to railroad either. Players will be able to do anything they want. Its a roleplay anyway!
I will probably be needing help with things like, showing how the system works, dice rolls, and moderators. So if anyone is willing to help with that, you will be greatly honored and benefits will be in it for you. As a prerequisite though, I would like it if you knew a bit about vampire the masquerade rules. If you've played other white wolf games or are just a tabletop roleplayer, I wouldn't mind teaching you a bit about it and allowing you as a moderator.
Thank you for your time reading this! I hope we'll be able to start this, fellow cainites.
Much love
