As previously mentioned, every vampire expends one blood point each night when she awakens, whether or not she actually goes out and about. Characters may also use blood points in a variety of other ways. A vampire may spend only a certain number of blood points per turn; this number is dependent on the vampire’s Generation. See the Generation chart (p. 270) to determine this number.
• A vampire may spend one blood point to heal one normal (bashing or lethal) health level of damage. Characters must be resting and relatively inactive for this healing to take place, though this recovery is rapid: One blood point per turn may be spent to heal one health level, though vampires of lower Generations may heal as many health levels per turn as they can spend blood points.
Note that blood expenditure is the only way that vampires can heal wounds. Just as their immortality prevents the Kindred from aging and dying naturally, so it also inhibits the recuperative processes natural to a living body.
• A player may spend one blood point to increase a single Physical Attribute (Strength, Dexterity, Stamina) by one dot for the duration of the scene. The player must announce at the beginning of the turn that he is doing this. A player may spend as many blood points on increasing Physical Attributes as the vampire may use in a turn (based upon Generation), but may only freely increase these Traits up to one higher than their generational maximum (i.e., a Tenth-Generation vampire may increase Traits to a maximum of 6). With effort, a character may increase a Physical Attribute to above this limit, but each dot above the limit lasts for only three turns after the character stops spending blood. This enables vampires to perform truly amazing physical feats, such as throwing cars, moving preternaturally quickly, and withstanding blows that would fell trees.
Note: No character may increase Physical Attributes above 10.
• A vampire may give a number of blood points to another Kindred, thereby enabling the recipient to use the blood as if it were her own. This is often a grisly prospect, as the “donor” must open his own vein and physically deliver the blood to the needy Kindred. Of course, if a vampire is ever in a situation in which she needs blood, she’s likely all out of it herself, and may frenzy and take too much from the donor. Blood gifts should be given with care.
If a vampire (or mortal) partakes of another Kindred’s blood three times, she becomes bound to that vampire through the mystical properties of vitae. This is known as the blood bond. For more on blood bonds, see p. 286.
• A vampire may gift a mortal or animal with a dose of his vitae, allowing the mortal in question to inject or ingest it. For so long as the mortal retains the Kindred vitae in her system, she is considered a ghoul (see the Appendix, p. 496, for more on ghouls).
• Though most vampires (with the exception of Nosferatu) appear much as they did in life, they still display certain corpselike features; for example, their skin is unnaturally cold and grows more ashen with age, and they do not breathe. By spending a variable number of blood points, a vampire may will himself to appear more human for a scene: flushing his skin, drawing breath, even becoming capable of engaging in sexual intercourse (this last, while helpful in certain types of feeding, in no way means that the vampire may inseminate a mortal or become pregnant; a corpse is still a corpse, after all). Performing these actions for a scene requires an expenditure of blood points equal to (8 minus Humanity); thus, Kindred with Humanity ratings of 8 or higher may accomplish these feats automatically, while vampires with low Humanity find the process exceedingly arduous.
Only vampires with Humanity may use blood in this manner; vampires on a Path have forsaken their human sides entirely.
• Blood may be spent to fuel certain vampiric Disciplines. Consult Chapter Four or Chapter Ten to see which individual powers require blood expenditure.

Weakness: True Brujah lose much of their emotional capacity when they are Embraced, and their ability for sympathy continues to deteriorate as they grow older. All Conscience and Conviction rolls are made at +2 difficulty (maximum 10), and ratings in Conscience, Conviction, Humanity, and Paths of Enlightenment cost double the normal experience costs.
Clan Disciplines - Potence, Presence, Temporis
Potence: 1

Kindred endowed with Potence possess unnatural strength. This Discipline enables vampire to leap massive distances, lift tremendous weights, and strike opponents with brutal force. Even low ranks of this power can give Kindred physical power beyond mortal bounds. More powerful Kindred can leap so far that they appear to be flying, toss cars like soda cans, and punch through walls like cardboard. While the more subtle mental Disciplines can be awe-inspiring, the brutal effectiveness of Potence is formidable in its own right.
The Brujah, Giovanni, Lasombra, and Nosferatu are naturally gifted with this Discipline, but members of other Clans often make a point to find someone who can teach them the awesome power of Potence.
System: Each dot that the vampire has in Potence adds one die to all Strength-related dice rolls. Further, the player can spend one blood point and change his Potence dice into an equal number of automatic successes to all Strength-related rolls for the turn. In melee and brawling combat, successes from Potence (either rolled or automatic) are applied to the damage roll results.

Temporis: 5

The True Brujah bloodline claims a peculiar Discipline that allows them some control over the flow of time. Masters of Temporis often grow ever more detached from the passage of ages. This, combined with the natural tendency for Sages to grow emotionally and spiritually distant, makes True Brujah elders exceptionally dangerous. They know that all life is finite, and so they feel no compunction about ending it.

Masters of Temporis value patience and clarity. Time is too complex and dangerous to manipulate incautiously or on a whim. Thus, the first power of Temporis focuses entirely on perception and serves as a permanent alteration of a vampire’s senses.
System: Once purchased, this Discipline gives a vampire a perfect sense of time. The vampire knows events to the nearest second or better. Moreover, the Cainite knows whenever the flow of time is mystically disturbed by use of Celerity, greater levels of Temporis, mortal wizardry, or stranger things. Sensing disturbances is instinctive and reflexive, though it requires a successful Perception + Awareness roll (difficulty 6 for most phenomena, as modified by the Storyteller for distance and intensity).

A vampire with this power may trap a target’s mind into reviewing a set of events over and over until interrupted. This power is extremely subtle and ill-suited to combat or other situations rich in sensory stimuli. However, a cunning vampire can trick a sentry into reliving the tedium of his uneventful watch even as the Cainite draws close enough to strike or slip past. Other uses include the maddening infliction of déjà vu to induce paranoia or make a victim question her senses and her sanity.
System: The vampire concentrates on a single victim in his line of sight. The player rolls Manipulation + Occult (difficulty equal to the victim’s current Willpower). With any successes, the victim falls into a light trance and relives the most recent experiences that preceded her fugue. Alternately, the vampire may evoke another set of specific memories and circumstances from the victim’s past, provided that he has some means of telepathically drawing them forth. The recurring events must be relatively benign, insofar as nothing noteworthy happens or nothing happens that would demand the victim’s immediate action. Thus, in the example of the sentry, the vampire could entrance him and walk past unobserved, but not if the sentry spotted him before invoking the power. Ordinarily, the fugue lasts one minute per success. If the vampire’s player spends a blood point to fuel this power, determine the trance’s duration according to the following

Entranced victims are oblivious to their surroundings and the actual flow of time around them. However, the fugue ends immediately if the victim suffers any damage or experiences a sudden jolt to her senses, such as a thunderclap or even a gentle nudge. Normal conversation does not break the trance, although shouting does.

With this power, a vampire may begin to alter the flow of time itself rather than mere perception of events. The vampire gestures and slows the desired object almost to a dead stop. This power can slow incoming bullets to the pace of drifting clouds, or cause an enemy warrior to see the battlefield quicken to a blur of dizzying carnage even as his every motion slows to a crawl.
System: The player spends one blood point and rolls Intelligence + Occult. The difficulty depends on the size and nature of the target: a single thrown brick is only difficulty 4, while a crazed ghoul has a difficulty of 9. Targets larger than an adult human cannot be affected with Leaden Moment. It is possible to affect small, closely grouped inanimate objects of the same nature as a single object, though this increases the difficulty by two or more at the Storyteller’s discretion (a hail of bullets might be difficulty 9). This power may be activated reflexively as a defensive action against projectiles, but otherwise requires a full action on the vampire’s initiative. Though failure carries no special penalty apart from wasting blood, a botch means the vampire mistakenly slows himself rather than the target, counting every 1 as a success for that purpose. If the vampire succeeds, the object slows to one-half its true speed. Every two successes beyond the first reduce this speed by one additional factor, so three successes slows the target to one third its speed, five successes yields quarter speed, etc. The actual mechanics of such slowing depend on the situation. For projectiles, multiply any successes to hit and final damage by the speed factor, rounded down. Similarly apply the speed modifier to the successes of other actions involving Dexterity, Wits, or Strength for slowed characters. Characters with Celerity may spend one blood point to negate one factor of speed reduction at the expense of the usual extra action provided – for example, one blood point cancels a reduction to one half speed, two blood points cancel one third, etc. Leaden Moment lasts one turn for every two successes rolled, rounded up.

The vampire can now suspend an inanimate object in time, keeping it frozen in perfect stasis as time passes at normal speed around it. As with lesser Temporis powers, this stasis has both combat and non-combat applications. True Brujah warriors may halt bullets outright rather than merely slowing their approach or casually sidestep a collapsing building. Higher-level variations on this power preserve precious scrolls and artifacts without risk of mold or decay. If any solid object or nontrivial volume of liquid touches a frozen object that did not touch it at the moment of suspension, the item re-enters time with the same properties and velocity as when it stopped. Thus, touching a suspended object with anything more substantial than a raindrop releases it exactly as it was before it stopped.
System: The player spends two blood points and rolls Intelligence + Occult (difficulty 6). The vampire must be able to perceive the object that he’s suspending, so the player may need to make a Perception + Alertness roll at a difficulty determined by the Storyteller in order to freeze fast-moving objects. If an object exceeds the speed of mortal perception, superhuman perception such as Auspex is required in order to see and stop it (as such, bullets can be stopped with this power, but only if the vampire has at least a dot of Auspex). Objects frozen by this power remain halted according to
the number of successes rolled:

Suspended objects retain all energy in their suspension, releasing none to the outside universe. A suspended knife has no kinetic energy as far as the rest of the world is concerned and hangs suspended in mid-air until the power is interrupted or the duration expires. Suspended alchemical or chemical processes also halt, including fire. However, any physical contact more substantial than a falling raindrop breaks the suspension.

With this power, a vampire momentarily accelerates time through himself. In this brief instant, he moves with the preternatural speed of Celerity. Unlike that Discipline, however, the time dilation of Clotho’s Gift permits any type of action. A vampire may still move or strike faster than the eye can see, but also think, plan, and even invoke other Disciplines that require full concentration. Only the last presents a danger, as it overtaxes the vampire’s unliving stasis.
System: The player spends three blood points and rolls Intelligence + Occult (difficulty 7). For a number of turns equal to half the vampire’s Temporis rating, rounded up, the character may take a number of extra actions at her full dice pool equal to the number of successes rolled. These actions follow the timing rules associated with Celerity, but may be used to take any action. A vampire may use the actions granted by Clotho’s Gift to activate Disciplines multiple times, even Disciplines that cannot be used more than once in a turn (such as Dominate or Thaumaturgy). However, for every action spent activating a Discipline, the vampire suffers one level of unsoakable lethal damage. Only one important exception exists: Any attempt to stack extra actions through Celerity, subsequent applications of Clotho’s Gift or other powers results in immediate Final Death, as the vampire collapses into ash as though burned by the sun.

In the local police department, there are few officers that can match Kelsey Williams' ability to crack a computer open and make it reveal its secrets. She is good at what she does, and she knows it. It gives her a sense of real satisfaction to be able to work her special kind of magic to make the bad guys pay the price for their crimes.

It was late afternoon when Kelsey's life would change forever. As she was walking along from the local convenience store after buying a few groceries, the cop looks over to see a man getting badly beaten by a pair of thugs in an alleyway. Not thinking of the risks involved, she raced to the rescue and it turned out to be a set-up, and all three men then turned on her. She stood no chance as they began to pummel her, taking her purse and watch and then shooting her and leaving her for dead.

As she struggled to keep conscious, Kelsey looks up to see a well dressed man in a fancy Italian suit kneeling over her. He watches her for a moment as she lies there, bleeding, and he finally says, "You are a mess. Things certainly did not go as you had hoped there, did it? <tisk> I doubt that you'll be able to get to any help fast enough to make a difference. How does it feel to be on the brink of death?"

Kelsey doesn't waste any energy answering; she just continues to crawl towards the alley entrance, hoping for a miracle. The man chuckles. "My, my, my. You are a stubborn one. I like that. Such strength of will. It shall keep you going in the dark times ahead. Come, my dear. Time for you to meet your new life." With surprising ease, he lifts her up off of the ground and sinks his fangs into her neck, draining the last of her lifeblood from her before feeding her his own viate. "You are now a creature of the night, so beware of the sun! Ha ha ha!" A rush of strength hits her like a tidal wave, and when she is once more aware of her surroundings, the man has vanished.

Later that night when Kelsey goes into the local precinct for her shift, one of the other officers comes up to her. In a quiet voice, he says, "I had not heard any announcement from the Prince of your Embrace. When did it happen? Who is your Sire?" Totally confused, Kelsey begins to pepper the man with questions, and soon learns the grim fact that she is a vampire and has been turned against the orders of the Prince of the city.

She immediately leaves to see this Prince, and in front of his court demands the name of the vampire that turned her. Her bold attitude amuses the Prince, and instead of ordering her destruction, he assigns another vampire to be her mentor and teach her the ways of the Masquerade, giving Kelsey a free pass to live as long as she follows the rules of the city.

Rage points are spent at the beginning of a turn, in the declaration stage. You can spend Rage only in times of stress.
A Garou can use Rage in the following ways:
• Frenzy: Frenzy is the violent outburst, the untamed savagery, the animal instinct for blood and brutality that lurks in the heart of every werewolf. Whenever a player gets four or more successes on a Rage roll, the character enters a frenzy. See Frenzy on p. 261 for more information on the causes and resolutions of frenzies.
• Extra Actions: A player can spend Rage to give her character extra actions in a single turn. However, a Garou cannot spend more Rage points for actions in a turn than half of her permanent Rage rating. See p. 266.
• Changing Forms: A Player may spend a Rage point for his character to change instantly to any form he desires, without having to roll Stamina + Primal-Urge. See p. 285.
• Recovering from Stun: If a character loses more health levels in one turn than his Stamina rating, he is stunned and unable to act in the next turn. By spending a Rage point, the werewolf can ignore the effect and function normally.
• Remaining Active: If a character falls below the Incapacitated health level, a player can use Rage to keep her character going. Doing so requires a Rage roll (difficulty 8). Each success heals a health level, regardless of the type of wound. A player may attempt this roll only once per scene. If this roll fails, the character doesn’t recover. However, this last-ditch survival effort has its price. Like all Rage rolls, the character is still subject to frenzy. The wound will also remain on the Garou’s body as an appropriate Battle Scar.
• Beast Within: Occasionally, a Garou is more a snarling monster than man or beast, and she must pay the price for it. For every point of Rage a character has above her Willpower rating, she loses one die on all social-interaction rolls. People, even other werewolves, can sense the killer hiding just under her skin, and they don’t want to be anywhere near it.
• Losing the Wolf: If a character has lost or spent all his Rage and Willpower points, he has “lost the wolf,” and he cannot regain Rage. The Garou cannot shift to anything except his breed form until his Rage returns. The character must regain at least one Willpower point before he can recover any Rage.

Gnosis: 3

Much as Rage fuels battle and the physical world, the uses of Gnosis tend toward affecting insight and the spirit world.
• Rage and Gnosis: A player cannot use both Rage and Gnosis in the same turn, whether spending points or rolling the Trait. The only exceptions are certain Gifts that demand both to function. These two forces are very powerful, and the Garou’s body is not strong enough to pull the power from these two natures simultaneously.
For example, a werewolf cannot spend Rage for multiple actions and activate a fetish in the same turn.
• Carrying Silver: For every object made of or containing silver that a character is carrying, she loses one effective point from her Gnosis rating. More potent objects will cause the character to lose more. Luckily, this effect is only temporary, and it lasts only a day after the silver is discarded. More information on the effects of silver is on p. 256.
• Using Gifts: Many of the Gifts the spirits have bestowed upon faithful Garou call for Gnosis expenditures and/or rolls.
• Fetishes: Gnosis is used to attune or activate fetishes. See p. 221 for more information on fetishes.

Willpower: 7

Of all the Traits werewolves possess, Willpower is one of the most frequently rolled and spent because of the many ways it can be utilized.
• Automatic Successes: Spending a Willpower point on an action gives the player one extra success on any roll. Only one point can be spent this way each turn, but the success is guaranteed. Spending Willpower in this way completely negates the effects of a botch. Some do not allow a character to spend Willpower, including damage rolls or any roll to activate Gifts.
• Uncontrollable Urges: Garou are instinctual creatures, and can find the Beast within reacting to stimuli without conscious thought. The Storyteller may inform you that your character has done something from a primal urge, like getting away from fire or attacking a creature of the Wyrm. A Willpower point can be spent to negate this gut reaction and keep the Garou right where he is. On rare occasions, the player must keep spending Willpower points until the character removes himself from the situation or runs out of Willpower.
• Halting Frenzies: As mentioned previously, a character flies into a frenzy whenever her player rolls more than four successes on a Rage roll. This situation can be averted if the player spends a Willpower point to remain in control. More information on frenzies can be found on p. 261.
• Fighting On: When a werewolf is injured, her wounds can make it hard for her to concentrate, represented by wound penalties to her actions. By spending a point of Willpower, she can ignore the wound penalties on a single roll.

Humans are creatures of the city, raising their steel and glass nests high into the sky. This Gift allows a homid to easily scale the concrete canyons and navigate the tangled back alleys and rooftops of the urban landscape. Some lupus derisively refer to this Gift as “Climb Like an Ape.” It is taught by an ancestor-spirit or an urban city-spirit.
System: The player spends a point of Rage. For the rest of the scene, the character may climb urban features at her full movement speed, and the difficulty of all Athletics rolls to navigate through cities (running down cluttered alleys, climbing the side of buildings, leaping from rooftop to rooftop) is reduced by two.

Invoking the power of a waking dream, the Garou can place any chosen characters into silent communication. A Chimerling teaches this Gift.
System: The player spends one Willpower point per chosen sentient being and makes a Manipulation + Expression roll (difficulty of the victim’s Willpower) if any participants are unwilling. All those included in the waking dream may interact normally through the Mindspeak, although they can inflict no damage through it. Their real bodies can still act, although all dice pools decrease by two. The Mindspeak ends when all the participants want it to, or on the turn the Galliard fails the roll against an unwilling member. All beings affected must be within line of sight. The Garou may include her entire pack in the waking dream for only one Willpower point, if she desires.

The Child may stop any Weaver-born weapons from working within the range of his voice. A dove-spirit teaches this Gift.
System: The Garou shouts an ancient word of power and grace and spends a Gnosis point. The player rolls Willpower against a difficulty of highest Willpower of any armed individual within earshot. For each success, all manufactured weapons will not function for one turn. This includes guns, crossbows, flame-throwers, and even knives and swords, which refuse to cut. Natural weapons (such as claws) and natural objects appropriated as weapons (such as rocks or naturally-fallen tree limbs) are unaffected.

Fortifying herself with purpose and will, the werewolf shuts out the pain of her wounds. A bear- or badger-spirit teaches this Gift.
System: The player spends one Willpower point; the character ignores all wound penalties for the rest of the scene.
The signature weapon of the Garou Nation, klaives are fetish daggers of a singular design, made to be used in Homid, Glabro, or Crinos form with equal ease. Klaives are rare weapons made from the purest silver, treasured and passed down from hero to hero. A werewolf who carries a klaive loses one point from his effective Gnosis rating, thanks to the silver. A war-spirit is usually bound into the klaive, allowing it to inflict aggravated damage even to non-Garou foes. Pulling a klaive on another werewolf is considered a grave action, for a klaive duel is almost always to the death. Nonetheless, such duels have always been dangerously common, and this practice shows no sign of abating even in the Final Days. Elders complain that too many of these sacred artifacts are in the ranks of reckless youths quick to use them for mundane tasks or to spill kin-blood; young werewolves argue that too many klaives are kept hidden away for rituals and great quests, when they could be better put to use against Black Spiral Dancers and other foes.
The difficulty to attack with a klaive is 6, and it inflicts Strength + 2 aggravated damage. Werewolves cannot soak this damage unless in their breed form.

As previously mentioned, every vampire expends one blood point each night when she awakens, whether or not she actually goes out and about. Characters may also use blood points in a variety of other ways. A vampire may spend only a certain number of blood points per turn; this number is dependent on the vampire’s Generation. See the Generation chart (p. 270) to determine this number.

• A vampire may spend one blood point to heal one normal (bashing or lethal) health level of damage. Characters must be resting and relatively inactive for this healing to take place, though this recovery is rapid: One blood point per turn may be spent to heal one health level, though vampires of lower Generations may heal as many health levels per turn as they can spend blood points.

Note that blood expenditure is the only way that vampires can heal wounds. Just as their immortality prevents the Kindred from aging and dying naturally, so it also inhibits the recuperative processes natural to a living body.

• A player may spend one blood point to increase a single Physical Attribute (Strength, Dexterity, Stamina) by one dot for the duration of the scene. The player must announce at the beginning of the turn that he is doing this. A player may spend as many blood points on increasing Physical Attributes as the vampire may use in a turn (based upon Generation), but may only freely increase these Traits up to one higher than their generational maximum (i.e., a Tenth-Generation vampire may increase Traits to a maximum of 6). With effort, a character may increase a Physical Attribute to above this limit, but each dot above the limit lasts for only three turns after the character stops spending blood. This enables vampires to perform truly amazing physical feats, such as throwing cars, moving preternaturally quickly, and withstanding blows that would fell trees.

Note: No character may increase Physical Attributes above 10.

• A vampire may give a number of blood points to another Kindred, thereby enabling the recipient to use the blood as if it were her own. This is often a grisly prospect, as the “donor” must open his own vein and physically deliver the blood to the needy Kindred. Of course, if a vampire is ever in a situation in which she needs blood, she’s likely all out of it herself, and may frenzy and take too much from the donor. Blood gifts should be given with care.

If a vampire (or mortal) partakes of another Kindred’s blood three times, she becomes bound to that vampire through the mystical properties of vitae. This is known as the blood bond. For more on blood bonds, see p. 286.

• A vampire may gift a mortal or animal with a dose of his vitae, allowing the mortal in question to inject or ingest it. For so long as the mortal retains the Kindred vitae in her system, she is considered a ghoul (see the Appendix, p. 496, for more on ghouls).

• Though most vampires (with the exception of Nosferatu) appear much as they did in life, they still display certain corpselike features; for example, their skin is unnaturally cold and grows more ashen with age, and they do not breathe. By spending a variable number of blood points, a vampire may will himself to appear more human for a scene: flushing his skin, drawing breath, even becoming capable of engaging in sexual intercourse (this last, while helpful in certain types of feeding, in no way means that the vampire may inseminate a mortal or become pregnant; a corpse is still a corpse, after all). Performing these actions for a scene requires an expenditure of blood points equal to (8 minus Humanity); thus, Kindred with Humanity ratings of 8 or higher may accomplish these feats automatically, while vampires with low Humanity find the process exceedingly arduous.

Only vampires with Humanity may use blood in this manner; vampires on a Path have forsaken their human sides entirely.

• Blood may be spent to fuel certain vampiric Disciplines. Consult Chapter Four or Chapter Ten to see which individual powers require blood expenditure.

Flaws

Prey Exclusion(+1): Won’t feed on certain types of prey (Sex Workers ) if fed upon automatic frenzy

(System: If you accidentally feed upon such an individual, you automatically frenzy and must make a roll to prevent Humanity loss (difficulty 7). Witnessing other Kindred feeding on the object of your exclusion might also provoke a frenzy, at the Storyteller's discretion. Ventrue, owing to the limitations imposed on their feeding by their clan weakness, may not take this Flaw )

Nightmares(+1): You experience horrible nightmares every time you sleep , and memories of them haunt you during your waking hours .

(System: Upon awakening, you must make a Willpower roll (difficulty 7) or lose a die on all actions for that night. A botched Willpower roll indicates that, even when awake, you still believe you are locked in a nightmare. )

Short fuse (+2): Easily angered, difficult to avoid frenzy

(System: difficulties to avoid frenzy are 2 greater)

Vengeful(+2): you are obsessed with taking your revenge on an individual (sire) , and it is your overriding priority in any situation whenever you encounter the object of your revenge .

(System: You may temporarily resist your need for vengeance by spending a Willpower point.)

Cast no reflection(+1): Just like the legend you cast no reflection , can have difficulties when trying to pass as human .

(System: Vampires of Clan Lasombra automatically have this Flaw (and you may be mistaken for one of them if you possess this).

Weakness:

When a Toreador experiences something truly remarkable — a person, an objet d’art, a lovely sunrise — the player must make a Self-Control or Instincts roll (difficulty 6). Failure means that the Kindred finds herself enthralled by the experience. The dazzled Toreador cannot act for the duration of the scene aside from commenting on or continuing their involvement with whatever has captured their attention. If the experience no longer affects her (whether by moving, being destroyed, or whatever is appropri-ate to the situation), the captivation ends. Enraptured Toreador may not even defend themselves if attacked, though being wounded allows them to make another Self-Control or Instincts roll. ( Finds beauty in Love and Romance since she feels she’ll never truly have that )

Merits -

Enchanting Voice (-2): There is something about your voice that others cannot ignore . When you commanded they are cowed . When you seduce , they are swoon . Wether thunderous , gentle , persuading or simply talking your voice commands attention

Presence (3):

. Awe: Once the vampire employs this power, those who are near him or her either want to be closer to him or her or shudder in fear. It is an immediate and intense attraction, but temporal and not so overpowering that those afflicted lose their sense of self-preservation. Danger breaks the spell of fascination, as does leaving the area. Victims will remember how they felt, though, and this will affect their reactions should they ever encounter the vampire again. Awe is extremely useful in mass communication. It does not matter what is said – the hearts of those affected will lean towards the user's opinion.

( System: Add Presence Rating to any skill roll involving persuasion, performance, and charism at the storyteller's discretion. Anyone aware they are affected can try to resist with a contest of Composure + Intelligence vs the users Manipulation+Presence. If won victims can resist the effect for one scene, a critical win is a full night. Once to power wears off victims revert to previous opinions)

.Daunt: Instead of attracting people, the vampire uses Presence to repel. With this power, the user appears threatening and exudes an aura of menace powerful enough to make most mortals avoid their attention and even vampires think twice about acting against them.

(System: Add the user's Presence rating to any intimidation rolls. Attacking the user requires a Resolve+Composure roll at Difficulty 2. Vampires cannot use Awe and Daunt simultaneously. )

.Lingering Kiss: The kiss of a vampire induced near-ecstasy in the victim, but this power leaves other Kisses in the dust. Victims fed upon by the user become addicted to the Kiss, obsessing over it and even seeking the vampire out for repeated feedings. Mortals often become anemic, self-harm, or even die from this addiction, but vampires find it a useful power for cultivating a herd and empowering their favored associates. Addicting other vampires is also possible, with the caveat that obsessed vampires demanding to be fed from quickly lead to the user becoming Blood Bound.

(Cost:free)
(System: The vampire can choose to use this power or not during each feeding. The victim gains a bonus equal to half the user's presence -round up- to social pools. The benefit lasts a number of nights equal to the user's' presence and is renewed to full duration if used again during this period. Once the benefit fades, withdrawal strikes, and all actions not spent working towards acquiring a new fix receive a penalty equal to the initial bonus, including trying to resist whatever the user asks of the addict. A victim fed upon with this power can make a willpower test -difficulty equals the user's presence- every week to resist the effects. winning for three consecutive weeks breaks the effects, as does a signal critical win)

. Dread Gaze: This power engenders unbearable terror in its victims. Dread Gaze, like the legendary hypnotism of the cobra, stupefies the victim into madness, immobility, or reckless flight. To use this power, the vampire merely shows the mark of Caine upon him or her – bearing claws and teeth, hissing loudly and with malice. Any vampire can do this, but students of this Discipline are more insanely terrifying than mere sight can explain.

( System : Displaying their fangs, their face twisted in a predatory grimace, the user rolls a contest of Charisma + Presence vs the target's Composure + Resolve. Failure: Mortals are unable to act other than in their own defense, backing off for a turn. Vampires are unaffected. Win: Mortals run in fear. Vampires are unable to act other than in their own defense for a turn unless they spend willpower equal to the user's margin of win -to a minimum of one-. Critical Win: Mortals freeze or crumple to a fetal position. Vampires must make a terror frenzy test - difficulty 3- if they win they are still affected as above - same as a mortal-)

. Cats Grace: The Vampire gains a balance and grace equal to and surpassing world-class trapeze artists. They can walk and even run across ledges and wires effortlessly and can keep their balance on the slimmest of supports

History

The start of Kira's life isn't one she loves to discuss. She wouldn't want to bore you with the sob story that was her fucked up childhood. But if you really pulled her arm about it the basics she would give you would be " Dead father and on top of that a dead beat of an alcoholic mother. Growing up into poverty and blah blah...blah." Like she said, "sob story".But if you want to know Kira look to her last days as a mortal and that's where the real shit goes down.

As soon as Kira hit 18 she was out of her redneck, bumfuck, small-minded town and her eyes were set on bigger and better things and to her, the only place where she'd achieve that was sunny Los Angeles California. Kira was told all her life just how beautiful she was and really.. that's the only truly positive thing she ever heard about herself. So what do you do when all you have is your looks? modeling ... or stripping... Kira decided to do both.

It was the middle of the '90s and the time of fashion, runways, and supermodels were at a peak and the craze was real. Kira wanted the lights and the glitz and the glam, the beauty of it all. But she secretly had a rebellious, seductive, and party girl nature and stripping was where she got that dark fix of hers satisfied. She was one of the most popular girls among the clients they all knew Kira and wanted her. There was one client that was different than the others, he never asked for a private dance or got handsy or anything but every night that he came in his eyes would be fixated on Kira and Kira alone. The way his dark eyes lingered on her was almost..hungry? like a prey watching its most delicious meal, but also transfixed like an artist staring into a beautiful sunset.

On one incredibly stormy and rainy night after months of him just watching her, he finally approached Kira towards the end of her shift. His hand grazed the length of her arms and he was freezing to the touch and he whispered into her ear, " Mon Cherie..." he said in a dark deep french accent, he smelled of expensive cigars and top-shelf bourbon, Instantly Kira was transfixed all she wanted to do was listen to this man..she felt like she could listen to him forever. " My name is Louie and I'm a well-known photographer here in Los Angeles, I've been watching you Kira and I know you have dreams of being a model yes?"He said as his hands delicately began Stroking her ember-toned hair. All Kira could bring herself to do was simply nod. " Magnifique... I have a studio not far from here..join me, Kira.." He said as he placed out a pale hand for her to grab. Without even thinking it she held his hand and intertwined their fingers as he brought it up to his cold lips giving it a delicate kiss.

Naively Kira had followed this dark stranger out into an unknown vehicle and within a quick ride, she had found herself outside a seedy, rundown, what appeared to be a photography studio. As the man led her inside she noticed the studio was empty except for one simple red velvet couch and a camera set up in the very corner of the big room. There were no windows and the only light came from one hanging bulb that emitted a red-toned light all through the empty studio. Distracted by her surroundings she immediately rose to attention as he patted the seat on the couch next to himself. As Kira sat next to him He pulled out a vile of peculiar liquid and popped off the cap. The aroma emitting from the vial was almost intoxicating. " Drink" was all he had to say for Kira to quickly grab the vile and chug the liquid down, only mere seconds after finishing off the vile Kira's vision started to blur and the room felt like it was spinning around her. " Mon Belle" was all she heard before the world around Kira went black and she fell into his arms.

Kira was embraced and transformed into a child of the night against her will and over the next decade, she spent it compelled to Louie's side as his "beautiful little pet" until he got bored of her and cast her aside as he did with plenty others over the years. Kira had to fend for herself with barely any knowledge of the vampire world besides the experiences she shared with Louie which she forcefully kept locked away in the back of her mind. Broken and traumatized Kira vowed to never let a pig/man lay a finger on her unwillingly ever again. She spent the coming years Building her confidence and working herself up to be the Femme Fatale she's known as today. Kira is a powerfully seductive woman that owns herself, her body, and her sexuality. She still loves being a stripper and is known to help out the sex workers within her area. Though Kira is now this brave, sassy, intoxicating creature she's transformed herself into, the trauma still lies deep within herself and she still can't fight the nightmares that plague her of him and their time together

You are able to draw more than the usual amount of nourishment from blood. When feeding, you gain an additional point to your blood pool for every two points of blood you consume. This does not allow you to exceed your blood pool maximum.

Eat Food (1pt. Merit) - “The day you can’t knock back a cold one is the day you hand in your Australian card. Caine can pry my tinny from my cold, dead… No, wait, Caine can’t pry my tinny from my cold dead hands.”
You have the capacity to eat food and even savor its taste. While you cannot derive any nourishment from eating regular foods, this ability will serve you well in pretending to be human. Of course, you can’t digest what you eat, and there will be some point during the evening when you have to heave it back up.

Code of Honor (2pt. Merit) - “I’ve got a code, mate. A warrior’s code, but a code. I’ve seen what happens when it’s broken. It’s a dog’s breakfast. New topic.” [Defend the Innocent]
You have a personal code of ethics to which you ad- here. The specifics of this code must be worked out with the Storyteller prior to play, and the character must follow it strictly. Characters with this Merit gain two additional dice to all Willpower or Virtue rolls when acting in accordance with their code (e.g., defending the helpless) or when attempting to avoid situations that might force them to violate their code.

Iron Will (3pt. Merit)
When you are determined and your mind is set, noth- ing can thwart you from your goals. Characters using Dementation, Dominate, or any other mind-altering magic, spell, or Thaumaturgy path against your charac- ter are at +3 difficulty.
Elder levels of powers like Dementation and Domi- nate may overwhelm even this resistance. Against Level Six powers, the expenditure of a Willpower point through Iron Will only raises the difficulty of the Disci- pline roll by two. Against Level Seven powers, the dif- ficulty is increased by only one. Level Eight and higher powers cannot be resisted with Iron Will.
This Merit does not affect Presence or other powers dealing with the emotions. Characters will Willpower scores below 8 cannot take this Merit.

Rival Sires (2pt. Flaw)
The flip side of Escaped Target, two vampires want- ed to gift you with the Embrace. One succeeded, one failed — and she’s not happy about that failure. You, your actual sire, or both of you have become the target of the failed suitor’s ire. Regardless, your persecutor is at +2 difficulty to refrain from frenzy in your presence. In addition, she may well be working actively to dis- credit or destroy you.

Hunted Like a Dog (3pt. Flaw)
Another Sect or group of vampires has decided that you’re a target for extermination, and pursues you re- lentlessly. On the bright side, the enemies of your en- emy may well wish to help you out, potentially garner- ing you allies.

New Arrival (1pt. Flaw)
You’ve just arrived in your new city of residence, and don’t know anyone in the place. Existing factions may try to recruit or eliminate you, while vampires in posi- tions of authority size you up and take your measure. Meanwhile, your ignorance of the city’s current events, history, and politics (not to mention the personality quirks of the vampires already in place) may cause you to make a serious blunder.

Recruitment Target (1pt. Flaw)
Someone in one of your Sect’s enemy organizations wants you, and they want you bad. Every effort is being made to recruit you, willing or no, and the press gangs usually show up at the worst possible time.

Weakness: Tremere dependency on blood is even more pronounced than that of other Kindred. It takes only two draughts of another vampire’s blood for a Tremere to become blood bound instead of the normal three — the first drink counts as if the Tremere had taken two drinks. (For more information on the blood bond, see p. 286). The elders of the Clan are well aware of this, and seek to impart loyalty to the Clan by forcing all neonate Warlocks to drink of the (transubstantiated) blood of the seven Tremere elders soon after their Embrace.
Clan Disciplines - Auspex, Dominate, Thaumaturgy

This power was developed as a means of testing a foe’s might — an extremely important ability in the tumultuous early nights of Clan Tremere. By merely touching the blood of his subject, the caster may de- termine how much vitae remains in the subject and, if the subject is a vampire, how recently he has fed, his approximate Generation and, with three or more suc- cesses, whether he has ever committed diablerie.
System: The number of successes achieved on the roll determines how much information the thauma- turge gleans and how accurate it is.

This power allows a vampire to force another Kin- dred to expend blood against his will. The caster must touch her subject for this power to work, though only the lightest contact is necessary. A vampire affected by this power might feel a physical rush as the thau- maturge heightens his Physical Attributes, might find himself suddenly looking more human, or may even find himself on the brink of frenzy as his stores of vitae are mystically depleted.
System: Each success forces the subject to spend one blood point immediately in the way the caster desires (which must go towards some logical expenditure the target vampire could make, such as increasing Physical Attributes or powering Disciplines). Note that blood points forcibly spent in this manner may exceed the normal “per turn” maximum indicated by the victim’s Generation. Each success gained also increases the subject’s difficulty to resist frenzy by one. The thauma- turge may not use Blood Rage on herself to circumvent generational limits.

The thaumaturge gains such control over his own blood that he may effectively “concentrate” it, mak- ing it more powerful for a short time. In effect, he may temporarily lower his own Generation with this power. This power may be used only once per night.
System: One success on the Willpower roll allows the character to lower his Generation by one step for one hour. Each additional success grants the Kindred either one step down in Generation or one hour of ef- fect. Successes earned must be spent both to decrease the vampire’s Generation and to maintain the change (this power cannot be activated again until the origi- nal application wears off). If the vampire is diablerized while this power is in effect, it wears off immediately and the diablerist gains power appropriate to the cast- er’s actual Generation. Furthermore, any mortals Em- braced by the thaumaturge are born to the Generation appropriate to their sire’s original Generation (e.g., a Tenth-Generation Tremere who has reduced his ef- fective Generation to Eighth still produces Eleventh- Generation childer).
Once the effect wears off, any blood over the char- acter’s blood pool maximum dilutes, leaving the char- acter at his regular blood pool maximum. Thus, if a Twelfth-Generation Tremere (maximum blood pool of 11) decreased his Generation to Ninth (maximum blood pool 14), ingested 14 blood points, and had this much vitae in his system when the power wore off, his blood pool would immediately drop to 11.

This ritual causes the path of the subject’s passing to glow in a manner that only the vampire can see. The tracks shine distinctly, but only to the eyes of the caster. Even airplane trajectories and animal tracks shine with unhealthy light. The ritual is nullified if the target wades through or immerses himself in water, or if he reaches the destination of his journey. The caster must burn a length of white satin ribbon that has been in her possession for at least 24 hours for this ritual to take effect.
System: The thaumaturge must have a mental pic- ture of or know the name of her prey. The individual’s wake glows with a level of brightness dependent on how long it has been since he passed that way — old tracks burn less brightly, while fresh tracks blaze.

This ritual prevents sunlight from entering an area within 20 feet (six meters) of this ritual’s casting. A mystical darkness blankets the area, keeping the bale- ful light at bay. Sunlight reflects off windows or magi- cally fails to pass through doors or other portals. To invoke this ritual’s protection, the caster draws sigils in her own blood on all the affected windows and doors. The ritual lasts as long as the thaumaturge stays within the 20-foot (6-meter) radius.
System: This ritual requires one hour to perform, during which the caster recites incantations and in- scribes glyphs. One blood point is required for this ritual to work.

Jack Kelly grew up on a ranch in Queensland, and enlisted believing he could help protect people and save innocent lives. That there were bad people in the world who had to die for peace. He was proud to be selected for SASR out of war college. The training was brutal, but he took well to field medicine and his keen analytical mind proved adept at gathering and analysing intelligence in the field. He learned a lot of things very quickly in Afghanistan, first amongst them was it was really hard to tell the bad people from the innocent lives, that bullets didn't give a fuck which one they killed, and neither did his commanding officers.

He realized his Commanding Officer was a monster when a new policy was instituted to have each new recruit to join the unit execute an unarmed captive to 'blood' them. He realized his CO was literally a monster when he took a dozen rounds to the chest and didn't even slow down. A lot of people died that night, and Jack was teetering on the edge of joining them when the cavalry arrived and put what was left of his CO down with enough incendiary rounds to reduce him to ash. They gave him something to drink, and told him it was medicine. It made him feel incredible. Later he learned it was his first taste of vitae.

He was transferred during his recovery. No one asked him, but he didn't really mind. Too many who didn't deserve it had died for him to believe he was here protecting anyone anymore, but this unit was tasked with killing things like his CO, and that was something he could get behind. They called themselves the Excision Committee. Which was a bloody weird name for a military unit, but everything about them was bloody weird so it fit. The training made SASR hell week seem like a bloody walkabout, but this stuff they were giving him was incredible, and suddenly he could do things he'd never imagined possible.

Initially he thought someone had a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock when he went through the training material. Demons? Ghosts? Werewolves? Worse? He had to admit, he had no explanation for what he'd faced, and the crisp clinical detail with which the material described what he had fought was compelling. Tests were performed. Normal things at first. Blood was drawn, physicals performed, psych evals. Then strange assessments were done. Sitting alone for hours with strange effigies that made his heard hurt. Concentrating on a carved glyph until it faintly glowed. A strange book that seemed to whisper in the back of his mind every time he read from it in a language he didn't understand. The results drew attention. Experts were flown in to administer still stranger tests, and ask odd questions, always taking notes, expressions inscrutable. Several successful missions passed. Warzones produced a lot of horrors; some were to be captured, most destroyed. Jack was surprised to find it deeply satisfying. Just being around these things gave him a sense they were not meant to be, and he was happy to unmake them. The rush of all this new power didn't hurt, either.

Finally one night they arrived. He remembers thinking they must have been important civilian defense officials. They didn't look military, but everyone deferred to them. They took him to another testing room and stared at him in silence for several minutes. Finally one caught his attention, stared deep into his eyes, and spoke, "What would you do if I told you to shoot me?"

He felt a tickling sensation at the back of his mind, a tugging at his thoughts, but he ignored it as an annoying distraction. He paused to see if this was some kind of bad joke, but their unnerving stares suggested otherwise. "Sir. I would not do that, sir." Because if I blew your bloody brains out I'd be court martialed faster than a grunt chasing the last titty mag in Kandahar, orders or no orders. Sir.

They looked at one another and nodded, then more strange requests, and more staring, until finally they seemed to have a silent conversation amongst themselves and abruptly all left without so much as a word. He would later learn there was something of an argument over who would claim him, and that when she returned and made him the offer it was not with the knowledge of the others, and one of them took it rather badly. Her eyes burned with a cold but beautiful light as she told him he had remarkable potential and promised him immortality, power beyond his wildest dreams, and knowledge. Of how the world really worked. Of the monsters that lurked in the shadows. Of how to kill them. If she had told him it would be an eternity without another cold one, he might have thought twice about it, but he was high on vitae already and didn't hesitate. Death was ecstasy, but waking up afterwards was a bit of a cold shower.

What followed was a crash course in the occult, finding the pearls of truth in all the world's myths, and a little thing called blood sorcery, which was apparently excellent at killing monsters. He quickly realized this was most definitely a case of monsters killing other monsters, but that was par for the course in his life at this point, and everything he read about these monsters only reinforced his desire to put them down. He was freaked out by the prospect of having to drain human blood until he saw how they reacted, and how if he was careful and just took a little from each one they seemed to enjoy it. He freaked out his mentor in turn when he refused to take her sensible advice and decided to have another beer anyway, and not only enjoyed the taste but held it down. He was disappointed to find he still had to throw it up later, but being bulimic was a small price to pay for immortality and superpowers, he supposed.

He's still officially part of the Australian Forces on some paperwork somewhere, but seconded to an international counterterrorism unit so black it doesn't have a name. He's killed things he never would have believed existed, and fervently wishes didn't. While he recuperates from his last assignment he's been sent to North Carolina in the U.S. to continue his studies while running close protection for a mortal binding some terrible monster simply by existing. A low intensity duty, and a chance to relax.
