Fantasy Valsena Chronicles: Rise of the Hunters (CLOSED)

Ya Boi

Who's that guy?
As humanity continued to grow and develop, so too have the monsters. Man had grown too lazy, telling themselves that as long as they have their Gifts, the monsters would never threaten the survival of humanity. They built walls and towers, thinking the monsters wouldn't get past but they did. They forged swords and armor, developed their spells, and formed their armies but they weren't enough. A regular Gifted could only do so much against the hordes of monsters that lived in the wilderness. They simply weren't enough.

Knowing that the monsters would one day overwhelm them, the kingdoms of Valsena decided to make monsters of their own. With the guilt of morality on their minds, they all agreed that it was the only way. They gathered young men and women, by force in some cases. Experiments were conducted, all in the hopes of creating a group Gifted that were strong enough to keep the monster population in control and, perhaps, wipe them out all together. This elite group were named: The Hunters.

Concerns were raised, of course.

"What if they try to overthrow the very kingdoms that they serve?"

"What if they fail?"

"What about the lives of these young men and women? Are they just supposed to drop everything and be forced to fight a battle they never wanted to?"

All the concerns were shrugged off. "If we fail to act now, then we will lose. Not today, not tomorrow, not next week. But we will lose eventually."

Hey, everyone! It's me, Ya Boi! This is actually a little idea that I've had for while now and I wanted to test the concept by sharing it with all of you.

So, in the world of Valsena, magic is a real thing. Magic is a very broad term that covers everything from the usual spell casting and elemental powers to very cool stuff like body manipulation and some FMA style Alchemy.

Your character will be a member of the newly formed group: The Hunters. You are chosen to be part of this because of your existing abilities or potential to be a great asset for the group. You can already be a practicing Gifted or just a regular bloke that was grabbed. Although, let's keep the edgy backstories at a minimum, okay? I'm trying to make a good story, not some edgy fest full of tragic kids that were experimented on.

The member of the Hunters had their bodies altered in a way that it makes them physically stronger than a regular human, makes them tire less, and enhances their magical abilities. Of course, they have no experience with these changes and will start off as clumsy newbies. With enough training, they should be able to handle a large scale battle against a horde of monsters.

The lore will be covered on a separate thread that I'll be linking to.

Well, that's it for now.

Happy Hunting, everyone!

What kinds of experiments. Would the hunters be partly merged with monsters? Would part of the monsters ability go over? Or would they be more of a captain America kind of experiment?

Ah, so the experiments won't necessarily be transferring powers over the the Hunters. The experiments were done in order to increase the potential strength of a Hunter's abilities but at the cost of a little something that I'll be revealing later on. The procedure won't be something as simple or quick as Captain America. It'll be a long painful process that involvea ritual magic.

Not in procedure, but in outcome like captain america was what i meant. As in, simply superhuman.

Im definitely interested!
Do the Hunters exhibit any physical resemblences to the monsters they bore their powers from, or personality tics or anything?

A stranger approaches. "Hey, mind if I join this masterpiece? I'm a nice person, promise!".

Let the stranger join your roleplay?
>Yes. Welcome aboard.
>Sorry, but no.

So since they are essentially partly non-human (unless youve got ~grand plans~), and underwent a lengthy and painful process, do they have any sort of trauma from that experience? I ask to make sure im making an appropriate, world-abiding character!

Yes.

Ask any question that you have. I also enjoy having a world-abiding cast of characters.

Hey Ya Boi! I'mma join this RP so we get to have 2 at once lol. In terms of outcomes of the procedure, are there variations of side effects? Your character has stated they are more irritable and lash out more. Would it be fair to say that every character would have some sort of emotional/psychological change? If so to what extent? Are there procedures that could go perfectly with no obvious drawback? (referencing what you were saying about there will be a loss explained later)

Damn, what a loaded post.

Well, I figured that the effects of the procedure would depend on your character's abilities. Red Aura users, as an example, tend to be angry people that draw strength from their anger which is why I gave Ezekiel that specific drawback. Like, I'd imagine a shape shifter would slowly develop different personalities or something like that.

Every Hunter would probably have some kind of experience because of the procedure. Everyone experiences these sorts of thing differently but everyone feels some kind of fear or distress as a result of the procedure.

It is possible to not have a traumatic experience with the process. After all, some people process these things very differently.

Also, glad to have you on board, boss!
