The Saviour of the Masses
W O K E N
Greetings, y'all! After spending quite some time being inactive, I've decided to come back and revive an old thread of mine. If you're curious as to what this is about, you can check out the old thread in the link down below:
Valsena Chronicles
If you're too lazy to click on the link or if you really like reading whatever it is I write, stay here!
The main idea is that the story takes place in Valsena; a land where monsters roam and humans can perform incredible feats. From moving objects with their mind to lifting things ten times their size, from shaking the earth to calming a storm, from running incredibly fast to slowing down time to a crawl.
Valsena has enjoyed peace for dozens of generations but things are changing. Tensions grow as egos clash and people are being forced to choose sides. There are those who believe that the Gifted are a curse on society and should be eradicated. There are those who believe that the Gifted should be ruling over the regular people and not the other way around.
Which side would you choose?
Would you choose to rule over one side or keep the peace between all?
Valsena: A great land separated into seven countries. It is named after King Valsen of Argos, The King of Conquered the World.
Obscal: The largest of the seven countries. Located in the center of Valsena. Easily the most populated country and is known as the Entertainment Capital of Valsena. Expect to see large cities filled to the brim with bright lights and luxuries beyond your wildest dreams. I recommend visiting the Arena. Plenty of action for the whole family!
Argos: A firm yet cruel land located in the far north of Valsena. It is here where the fiercest warriors are born and trained. Expect to see an unforgiving landscape and harsh weather. Hm? Why even bother to put a country in such a terrible location? Well, true warriors can survive anywhere! Suck it up and keep fighting, dammit!
Varka: Other countries choose to focus on their strength or their technology, Varka chooses to prioritize magic above all. I mean, sure they have armies who use swords and a pretty decent grip on technological stuff but magic is where it's at. They're ruled by a council of seven great mages, each of them manages a certain part of society. There are those who choose to devote their lives to studying under the council and maybe become a Holy Knight. Expect to see lots of books, potions, weird rituals, and strict rules. Oh, and did I mention it's near the largest Serran veins in all the land?
Carth: Looking at all angles, Carth shouldn't exist. First of all, it's located in the mountainous regions of Valsena. It's nothing but blue-grey hunks of rock everywhere you look. Second, there's barely any vegetation or livestock to support a country in its early days. Third, it just plain sucks to live there sometimes. So how did they do it? How did the people of Carth survive? No one can actually say for sure. One thing is certain about Carth, though. It's harsh mountainous environment makes for some pretty good defenses. Enemies must climb over or march around the mountains while Carthian armies can rain arrows from above. Expect to see buildings built on the side of mountains, people living in caves, and lots of rocks. Like, honestly, there's lots of rocks. On the plus side, they are also known for being the largest producer of precious metals and other minerals.
Austansia: Once, Austansia was said to have been the most beautiful place in all the land. Lush fields, thick forests, clear rivers and lakes, and... I dunno, some cool looking exotic animals? Whatever makes a beautiful environment, I guess. Well, it had to have been quite the sight because the whole country basically belongs to the monsters, now. Yup. A few hundred years ago, Austansia was hit by a large gathering of monsters. From Dyna Birds to Creeps, Saberwolves to Razors. Those who even dare live in its borders are hard-pressed to find anyplace that didn't have some monster living there already. Expect to see large groups of monsters and little settlements of Gifteds aiming to clear out the area.
Avina: It's located in the far south of Valsena and it's mostly made up of islands. Nothing too noteworthy other than the delicious wine they produce and the festivals they hold. Expect to see sleepy towns and raucous cities where everyone loves to drink.
Del: Okay, so Varka has magic and Argos has strength and buff dudes (and chicks). Cool. Well, Del has made all sorts of technological advancements over the decades and is really, really good with using it. Here, people don't bother with magic theories or brute force. Del has decided to "fuse" magic and traditional weaponry together. Expect to see cool looking gadgets, sleek buildings and vehicles, and lots of science-y stuff. Oh, remember to stop by Carmen Industries every now and then. They're always coming up with new inventions every other week.
Gifted: There are the people whose powers have been awakened by a Serran Crystal. They are the ones who are sent to fight the monsters that trouble humanity. Of course, not every Gifted is a hero. There are some who actively terrorize others for their own selfish reasons.
Serran Crystals: These are crystals that imbue a creature with powers. It can restore a Gifted's energy and heal their wounds. They act as batteries; meaning each crystal has a limited amount of energy in it. Once a crystal has been used, it crumbles into dust. The amount of energy in a crystal depends on its size. (A crystal the size of a coin has a small amount of energy while one that's the size of a basket ball has a lot)
The Hunters: A group of elite level Gifteds working with the Obscalian government. They're used to handle missions that involve monsters or rogue Gifteds.
Salvation: An Anti-Gifted group. They used to perform simple acts such as holding rallies or speaking with governments to remove the Gifted population from Valsena but lately they've been relying on terrorist acts and spreading propaganda.
The God's Hand: A Pro-Gifted group created in response to the harsh tactics that Salvation has been using recently. Some of the members use peaceful methods to spread their message but others have decided to fight back against Salvation with the same level of chaos.
COMING SOON
* There are strict rules as to how Serran works:
- In order to gain powers from or be re-energized/heal by a crystal, a regular human must simply hold it.
- A person must be physically, mentally, and spiritually strong enough to handle the power of a crystal, regardless of the crystal's size.
- If a person fails to meet the three requirements, that person's soul is burned up and dies.
- That is why Varka has set up an "Aptitude Test" of sorts to make sure that a person is compatible with Serran Crystals.
* If you wish to join, please avoid having world-breaking powers.
* Any form of power is allowed. From telekinesis to elemental manipulations. As long as it doesn't wreck the flow of the story or break any rules of reality, we're good to go.
* I'll be posting a character sheet and judge your characters if they can fit into the lore or not.
* Any questions can be posted below or PM'ed to me. I'll be sure to clear up any misunderstandings or errors.
* This is NOT a medieval setting. It's set in MODERN times with magic being present.
* Swearing is allowed to some degree. Just don't swear-bomb your whole post, mmm'kay?
* If possible, try to post at least TWO paragraphs.
