Hello, I am curious. Anyone have experience doing Voice-Roleplay? Like how a storyteller in the library would read to a room full of kids, has anyone done that with their RP? More specifically voice-acting in a sense. Reading the passage with emotion and in the tones of different characters. Then recording the sound and posting it for the players to hear. This would make challenges in a group RP, but I figure this format would work very well for the Questing Forum on this site. I am weighing the benefits and negatives. Is there anything, anyone could point out? This would be a big step-up in story-line immersion.

Well, this is basically the heart of GMing a roleplaying game in real life. Admittedly, it's hard to have a conversation with yourself, but that helps keep emphasis on the players. Likewise for playing over Skype or whathaveyou.

Could it work in a forum RP? Possibly, at the risk of slowing things down. Especially if dialogue is recorded but narration is text - that actually strains immersion. You'd need to treat it more like an audiobook, narrating both description and speech.

Probably best for a Quest, in that regard.

Understood. Never did real life role-playing so I admit it's a little hard to picture how that'd be like. Definitely agree. In audio book format is exactly how I pictured it. Thank you very much. This helps.

I did theatre when I was younger, and a few times, we'd do improv. So... sorta acting roleplaying. :P

I feel like it'd be difficult to pull of, as you'd require a recording thingy that isn't utter garbage, the time to act it out as well as upload it, AND the time to listen. Afterall, you can read at your own speed, but not listen. However, it could certainly work. Just need to find people willing to deal with all of that and stick with it.

Very good points. Never considered there's only one speed for listening. Excellent. I've been thinking a way around the recording equipment part, but you're right; all the good stuff does cost a good amount. From all you bring up, I'm seeing it's certainly not worth the effort. I thank you for that, Sun!
