Upcoming Modern Fantasy VRMMORPG

Lockett

Professional Spaghetti Spiller

This is just a planning thread for my cohorts and I to use. Feel free to browse as we design this world and eventually propose it with an interest check. Aside from that, please refrain from posting in this thread, thank you. [The RP will be generally inspired by Kingdom Hearts]

  • People often said that fairy tales, legends, and folklore should stay just that. That believing in the supermans and wonder womans of mythology was foolish to do. At a certain age, we're all told by our parents to stop pretending to play the hero, and that our princess isn't waiting in another castle...if only they'd took their feelings into consideration.

At a point, the world's outlook on such stories became clouded; seeing them as no more than a distraction from education. On December 21st, 2012, the global decision was made to ban such stories from the lives of children-- the masses responded in rage. Creativity, imagination, and inspiration in general became scarce, people now under arrest due to reading Little Red Riding Hood to their children at night.

By 2015, stories were all but forgotten; a speck of dust swept under the rug. Something the world failed to see, was that there'd been something greater to these stories, something the non-believers just couldn't see..magic. It'd always been there, existing within their hearts from the very beginning. This creativity, this imagination they shunned, it was the life force for fairy tales everywhere, and without it? They perished, forced to fade away from the existence of humans forever. Or so they thought.

October 31st, 2015, Halloween. A day of merriment for children, a day of dread for all others involved. On this day, however, a phenomenon occurred, one larger than anyone could have predicted. A tower had erected in the dead center of every major city and every major state. It was comprised of books of all sizes and all shapes. Upon the turn of the moon, a bright light casted itself onto these towers; the books jolting open, their pages ferociously flipping about.

    Then they saw them.

Heroes, monsters, antagonists, protagonists. All those characters the world so selfishly shunned returned, livid at the non-believers. It was swift, their action, sieging and claiming it for their own. To those who tainted their name, who stained their glory, they would pay dearly for their actions. In essence, they asked this world.."Where's your god now?"

One year had passed and the war that raged against stories certainly had no happy ending. The world's most cutting edge technicians - after endless days and nights and realizing how stupid they were to deceive their hearts - developed a method of calming these enraged fragments of society. They called it.. "The 4th Breaker". A device taking the form of a book, this not only served as a means to enter the tale of the enraged, but return them back to the peaceful stories they once were. How would they do that you ask? Combat of course.

People often said that fairy tales, legends, and folklore should stay just that. That believing in the supermans and wonder womans of greek mythology was foolish to do. At a certain age, we're all told by our parents to stop pretending to play the hero, and that our princess isn't waiting in another castle...We should have listened to our hearts back then, we should have opened our minds to the tales they told. Some of us still believe - we always have - now, we can only clinch our fists and fight; striving to bring peace to the stories that brought us joy so long ago. Heroes fought bravely to defend their worlds..now it's our turn to defend them. Push up those glasses, readers..because a world of wonder is about to unfold.

    Stats

In this roleplay, we will be using a statistics system to guideline your character. When it comes to a lot of your physical actions or even your thinking capacity, we restrict it to this point based system in order for you to understand the limits. This does not mean you are limited in roleplaying actions but rather your character can't run around lifting cars up on his index finger or running at the speed of "GOTTA GO FAST!"

To begin, you are granted 50 overall points to freely allot along five categories:

    Strength (STR)

Strength is the stat to determine your character's physical power. For example, how much you lift or how hard you can hit. The higher value this stat has, the stronger your character.

    Dexterity (DEX)

Dexterity is the stat to determine your character's speed. For example, how fast your character moves. On the other hand, dexterity also rides hand-and-hand with Willpower. Your character may run fast but if they do not have high willpower, they are prone to running out of stamina for periods of time. The higher value this stat has, the higher speed you have.

    Willpower (WP)

Willpower determines your character's stamina and defense. For example, it determines how many hits you can take and how long you can run. This stat rides hand-and-hand with Dexterity. Your character can have high willpower but if they don't have high dexterity, they are not going to run fast. However, with high willpower, they can run for a long period of time. The higher value this stat has, the higher stamina and defense you have.

    Intelligence (INT)

Intelligence decides your character's general and combat knowledge. For example, how experienced they are in martial arts, how knowledgeable they are in abilities or techniques and their knowledge of different areas or stories. The higher the value in this stat, the more wise your character is.

    Magic (MAG)

Magic is the stat that decides your character's magical abilities. For example, how advanced they are in spells. The higher the value in this stat, the more magically attuned you are. However, magic runs on the intelligence stat as well. Further on, you will see that magic is divided in terms of tiers. In order to unlock one, your character must have a required amount of intelligence along with Magic.
