untitled hero story
date and time: april 11th, monday, 08:23am!

Only a week had passed since the official formation of SOHC's only team. Back then it was a rocky start, considering how a lot of the things detailed on the company's webpage turned out to be kind of misleading; the main image showed a tall, sleek building, but the company's building wasn't that building at all (it was the dinky one in the corner that was practically cropped off, and even from that one they only had access to one office space). Second, it was implied that there were already a few competent heroes and staff, but in reality, the people on this team would be the only people other than the founder to step foot inside the office (any previous recruits all saw the building and left immediately).

Truthfully, why the team came back the next day was beyond comprehension, never mind the entire week, but perhaps they all had their own reasons for doing so.

Unsurprisingly, however, the past few days had been quite uneventful. It was mainly spent doing paperwork and lounging around, and judging how this morning was going, it'd be the same story for today, too. At least it was nice outside... cherry blossom season and all.

“Ahem.

"Mister siiiiir~~~ ♡ ! Could you please tell us how you got so dummy thicc? The people are dying to find out!!

“Ohuooaoaoao! You see, the answer is simple! I call it my daily regimen as Japan’s number four hero! Once a day, I snort a line of”―Oooh, that’s my cue.”
The beep of an alarm sounded from the kitchen, interrupting his original “completely-and-totally-accurate” dub of the Number Four’s interview currently showing on the TV. It was time; the moment Kuzunoha had been waiting for.

Contrary to the early hour, the male energetically bounded to the kitchen and put on an oven mitt to take out his most recent creation. Scarlet irises raked over the meal and he nodded to himself in approval―yeah, it looked good as hell, and it smelled even better! A rich, but delicate dish, utilizing a simple ingredient like white rice and curating it into something never-before seen, using a number of other things he had sitting around in his cupboard. Even though this was practically new territory, he always ended up making something tasty. So! With that being the case, surely this would taste good too, yeah?

Wrong!

“Geh―! Who would’ve thought?!” he gagged, letting the food fall back out of his mouth and onto the plate in a sad heap. “Uuuu... So much for tryina make something that doesn’t exist…”

Well, guess that meant it was plain rice for breakfast today, huh.

As the thought crossed his head, Kuzunoha dejectedly began to fill a clean bowl with the leftover rice. Trying to make anything else probably would’ve made him miss his train… not that being on time was something he cared about, but he figured his team didn’t really see him in the best light so far. It was definitely possible after everyone met at the office for the first time a week ago, which was when they found out about how working at SOHC just smelled like several human rights violations were waiting to happen. Luckily, Lane (who had been working there a tad bit before the others) could probably vouch that nothing too distasteful would happen... he hoped. Even if the albino thought otherwise, at least he had a certain pair of friends from his brief time spent at Yuuei... Oh, and the now-ex-waitress of the little café he'd stop by in the morning on the days he overslept and couldn't make breakfast himself which were many.

Yeah... maybe it'd be fine afterall!

― ♡ ―

Today may have been the first time in his life that he was ever on time to anything. Early, even. By some absolute miracle, he’d gotten to the office before anyone else. Was it a good omen? (Or was the world gonna end in shambles instead?)

Kuzunoha wandered over to his desk and booted up the computer to glance over what everyone had to do for the day. Similarly to how every other day was before now, the daily tasks pretty much only consisted of doing paperwork and organization… and in Kuzunoha’s case, getting bored out of his mind and doodling on a random post-it, or in more extreme cases, he’d straight up just leave the office to do god-knows-what, probably shoving some of his workload onto Lane in the process.

At this rate, it was no different from a normal office job. Bleh.

After a few moments of standing around, a lightbulb visibly went off in his head. Right, he was early! Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity to do something stupid? A mischievous grin tugged at the corners of his lips, him eying the storage room. There was a bucket in there. He could go into the bathroom and fill it with water… put it on the top of the entrance door… wait for the poor sod who’d show up next, only to get drenched… It was a classic idea, definitely one he'd been wanting to do since a long time ago. Yet every time he'd bring it up, his older brother, Konoha, would only point out how juvenile it was and that no one remotely aware of their surroundings would fall for it. Thus, he'd always end up pulling more elaborate pranks to ensure that they worked―but wouldn't it be more funny if, on the off-chance, someone actually did fall for something as easy as that? Hmm... regardless, perhaps it’d be worth being early more often after all. All the mischievous little plans he could go through with if he was...

So, he began to put his genius plan to action. Any previous thoughts about trying to win over his team were long forgotten―he was focused on the now.

Eventually, though, enough time had passed for the others to begin filtering in, but of course, they wouldn’t walk in on their leader doing anything productive―him being punctual for the day was enough for the next twelve years. Instead, he was busy trying to play Fire Boy and Water Girl with only himself; a commonality. So common, in fact, he might even be able to reach a speedrunning world-record if he wanted to. Hmm…

"Aw man ~" An inaudible sigh escaped from the confines of the ginger’s lips. Was there ever gonna be a day where it wasn’t just paperwork and more paperwork with a side of paperwork? Ugh. Well, at least there was the water bucket pran―I mean, master plan to look forward to… right?

The hue of morning light crept through the small slit of the dusky window of the apartment. A low grumble just audible below the teal sheets as they writhed as if sparked to life from the sunlight seeping into the apartment. The twin sized bed softly creaking a bit as the movements only became a bit more drastic. The sound of aluminum scuffling off from the foot of the bed could be heard clanging against other cans before scattered across the minefield of a bedroom covered with various cans. The sheets slowly peeled away exposing the messy net of green hair. The woman's red eyes seemed to almost glow upon opening glaring out rather hostile to the light. It had come far too soon for her, having trouble falling asleep the night before as her body tended to do. Her thin hand reaching out grasping at the can left by the nightstand of a cherry soda half drank and quite warm she had before bed chugging it all down. The woman crushing the can and tossing it over at the woman as it ricocheted off skidding onto the ground into a few more cans.

Despite the initial hesitation, it didn't take long for the odd woman to slither from bed kicking away the rubble laying across her floor to work to getting herself dressed. A rather normal routine though most typically handled later though today was a rather special exception. An agency had finally taken her in, a change in her luck. Sure, it was an opportunity to get some cash though for her it was a secondary concern. She always had... ways... of getting by without it some more dubious then others. It was her chance to get a bit of excitement, and in a way that both was legal while also introducing her to plenty of danger she craved. A niche only the hero life could fully provide a woman like herself. Not to mention it also served to do some good. A very valid reason for such work even if it was almost more of a bonus then a focus for her.

Her crimson eyes glanced upon herself as she finished brushing her hair, ensuring she appeared in satisfactory condition. A rather pointless endeavor given what her quirk allowed her to do though she felt a certain degree of satisfaction in brushing her own hair and yanking through those knots. She shuffled back, glancing at the mirror at her plaid button up top and down to matching skirt. The white frilly shirt underneath partially puffed up with a small yank helping to smooth it out a bit. The outfit a rather nice one given how much of a mess her bedroom was. She always tended to pride herself on dressing nicely seeming to sport far more concern for what she wore then the state of her rather worn down apartment. The woman gave a twirl as she hummed to herself stopping short her back partially turned tilting her head back glancing at the mirror. Just perfect for the first day. Yes... this would do.

She walked out from the bathroom door into the living room and kitchen of her three room apartment. The room itself larger and almost a night and day change from her bedroom. The place quite clean unnaturally so. It was practically untouched with just the mingling amounts of dust having gather around the place. It was important to keep the area clean, after all you had to worry about guests... particularly her adopted parents showing up. As out there as Mesa could be, she held a great deal of respect for them and as such she did at least want to make things presentable being an adult on her own.

The kitchen perhaps shedding a bit more of the façade away at the odd organization of her cooking wares, though nothing compared to the fridge she opened revealing so many cans of various sugary and caffeinated drinks. A left over pizza box being yanked out by her as she opened it to reveal only a few more slices left causing her to frown a bit despite how little of a surprise it should of been. When it came to food she was a rather large glutton and a single pie wasn't going to last her long... granted that also ignored the fact that was what was left over the second pizza she had. It would have to do given the lack of money she had. Her own fault for spending so much on what was a pallet of soft drinks that she had snagged up for cheap before they went up for discount.

Mesa had ventured out from her apartment a few minutes later with just the crust of her last slice stuffed in her mouth as she chewed it down quite skillfully as she walked with another can of soda in her grasp. The dusky halls of the apartment complex passing by as she went to the stairs venturing down the three floors and finally out onto the streets. A brief little stretch being performed as she began to walk. Her finger tapping along the top of the soda can before opening it to a much more faint fizzle only managing to slightly disrupt the soft drink with her brief stretch as she began to head out to her brand new agency and a start of a hopefully entertaining day. She had been sorely missing some actual exciting action and hopefully she might finally get herself into something without having to even dwell on the idea of tempting more legally grey activities to do so.

----------------------

The can of soda was long gone by the time Mesa had made it to the agency. The building itself a far cry from what it was advertised and the entire operation seeming almost like a giant sham. A deterrent for many to be sure but it wasn't as if Mesa had much choice. Even more so, the shoddy operation made things that much more exciting. Who knew what terrible things might be lurking around the corner? It would be rather exciting to go falling through the floor one day crashing into the basement, or perhaps an earthquake would come rumbling through making the unstable little hell hole crumble and collapse on top of them. A fun little detour that could make even being stuck in the office an exciting endeavor! Not to mention how sleazy things were it was certain they would get work that was far more unnecessarily risky and dangerous she was sure. A much more thrilling experience to make even more menial jobs a blast!

At the very least such was the impressions her mind created for herself. It had been far too long since she had any sort of hero work and she had managed to do a bit of a number on her own reputation in the short period she had. Apparently, people weren't too happy when you terrified the people you were suppose to save, even if it was done in some light hearted fun. A little bit of urine soaked in your pants wasn't a big deal, especially since they over-reacted not her! Oh well, she would be on her bes.... well good... decent behavior with this new agency. The green haired woman smirking as she went for the door pushing it open to enter.

"Hello anybody... h...." Her voice suddenly came to a stop. The water splashed onto her as the bucket fell smacking into her head before tumbling to the floor. The woman standing there seemingly baffled. A sudden look coming upon her as she seemed to shake. Her skin starting to wobble about followed by a cry.

"What was... oh... oh god.. oh god! Oh no! Water I'm my skin... it burns .... IT BURNS.... OH GODS WHY! WHYYYYY!" Her voice shouted out as her skin began to bloat out as she fell forward the flesh oozing away as if she was melting falling on the ground as she gasped out. Her limbs flailing as her skin seemed to spread as if liquifying to some extent as she writhed on the ground in the puddle of water her face disfigured looking as she became a partially spread puddle on the ground next to the bucket as her cries faded away. A smirk on her face... at least it would be if it wasn't so disorted looking on the ground as she couldn't help but try and prank the pranker looking melted and drenched on the ground.

Sagawa "Sunder" Yuuta
Waking with slow reluctance Yuuta regarded the faded paint of his ceiling with half-lidded eyes. After dozing off and waking at least once more a hand snaked out from under the blanket he pawed at the floor until he found his phone and checked the time, he should have gotten up already if he wanted to get to work on time. "Hmm..." Placing the phone back down he rolled over and snuggled deeper into his futon, bothering to show up on time had last only three days once the low standing of the agency became abundantly obvious.

His attempt to fall back asleep was ruined by a familiar niggling at his mind and with a grunt he sat up grabbing for his vape pen, thumbing the power he took a long pull and coughed as he unexpectedly got mostly air, cursing he looked at the battery meter and saw the red light at the bottom blinking at him belligerently.

Finally kicking off the blanket he looked around the bedroom/sitting room/kitchen/every room except bathroom of his pocket sized palace, kept fairly clean mostly due to lacking the space for any excess rubbish the a good deal of the room along one wall was taken up by a row of plastic heads that looked suspiciously similar to those of mascot statues from various restaurants and one of the rounder heads had an eye painted over in mockery of a daruma.

Standing Yuuta grabbed a piece of nicotine gum from a half empty packet and a can of coffee from a pallet sitting in the corner, feeling a touch more human he scraped his gear together and left to get to work like a good little employee.

Realising he could use some actual food he dropped into a convenience store on the way, letting his mind wander he habitually glanced around at the cameras picking out blind spots and ways to shield his hands from view, hearing a slight crinkle he snapped back to himself and found he was halfway through slipping a riceball into his pocket, willing that traitorous part of his mind to stop his fingers twitched dropping the snack on the floor. "Dammit." Grunting at the ease with which the compulsion had come over him he picked up the riceball and stoically went to pay.

Arriving at the agency to find the door open and puddle of flesh occupying the entryway Yuuta skipped over the mess and went to put his vape on charge, it was cheaper than doing it at home. "My aren't you looking lovely this morning Ms Fleisch." Stripping the plastic off his breakfast he took a bite and grimaced, checking the flavour on the wrapper he inwardly cursed at how his thieving subconscious couldn't even pick out stuff he liked.

Calm before the storm- that was the best way to describe how Megumi's mornings usually went. Peace and quiet was only ever found when she was resting soundly in her bed, buried into her pillows and blanketed from the mornings impending light by her covers. Such things could never last. No matter how much she, or anyone else, wanted it, the morning was bound to come and wake her from her slumber, which was never a pleasant happening.

As the chime of her alert rang through her small bedroom, a groan escaped Megumi's throat, indicating immediate displeasure that it was that time again. It was no different than any other morning. No matter how many times she was forced to wake to an alarm, it was always met with grumblings and refusal. In a way, it was contrary to her usual personality, but even a woman like herself had such flaws. Luckily nobody had to deal with it, or at least not of late. No longer having roommates or a significant other spared them from dealing with the displeasure that was Megumi in the morning. Who could blame her though? Mornings were the time of the day which her quirk was often at its weakest. The lack of light in her wings oddly effected her personality upon waking, whether she liked it or not. It wasn't as if her usual self was much better for others, anyways.

Again, her alarm's jingle echoed out, this time forcing her to roll over onto her side to reach for it. "Shut up you stupid thing," she hissed under her breath as her hand slapped down on the top of the clock. Hostility laced her voice, proving she was nothing but a devil when it came to waking. Thankfully, it was only a mere clock that had to face her wrath this morning, though one slap wouldn't be enough to subdue its ring or Megumi's own frustration. It would take several more slaps of her hand to get her to lift her head from the pillows and glare towards the source of the alarm. Her gaze was met by large, green numbers highlighting the clock's screen. It was early, even earlier than she had woke for her previous work. How unfortunate. Could she complain though? This was what she had always wanted, even if what she had found had been less than ideal. If rising at this hour meant she could work as a hero, then so be it.

Admitting defeat to the clock, Megumi heaved a deep sigh before she sat up. Her shoulders slumped forward while her wings stretched out, a few feathers dropping from them during the process. Picking one up, the woman stared at it in annoyance. Why did they always have to fall out? Every time she had to see such a thing happen, it made her feel as if she was some kind of animal shedding its fur or even skin. Sure, humans shed to an extent, but how many had to pick up feathers as well? The number was surely low, and to be in that small minority bothered her. It was one of the biggest down sides of her quirk. Annoyed with the feather, she tossed it towards the bin near her bedside, not bothering to see if it went in or not. She had more important things to do.

Her morning finally was ready to be kicked into full gear, or as full as it could be. Given how slowly she moved out of bed and dragged herself across her apartment, it was clear that her "full gear" wasn't as lively as others. Drowsiness still clung to her face, and every part of her screamed "do not bother me." For someone who was usually considered beautiful, she sure looked ugly in the morning. Her hair frazzled and her faint, dark bags rested underneath her eyes. If one had to describe her, they might say she looked as if she had crawled out from under a bridge like some troll. It was no pretty sight. Fixing that was at the top of her priorities. That was exactly what she did and it was no simple task. Making herself presentable was one of the most important things of her day, after all. Without she'd couldn't uphold her usual grace and elegance, thus spending forty-five minutes dressing, brushing her hair and doing her makeup was a must everyday, no matter the circumstances.

With her pretty face now in order, Megumi was more awake than she previously had been and even had a bit of her usual pep in her step. Still, she wasn't prepared to leave, though time told her otherwise. While things had been casual thus far, and she doubted there was anything she could be late for, she still liked to be punctual. Even in this unideal hero job, she wanted to make a good mark, so to say, though even if her timeliness did that, her personality wouldn't. It never did. If anything, it caused her more trouble, yet she showed no signs of changing or bending to what others wanted. Maybe she was too stubborn, or maybe her conviction in herself was merely that strong. Either way, Megumi pushed forward, sticking true to the "queen bee" persona she had.

A few more minutes passed as the angel wannabe dug around her apartment gathering her phone, keys, ids and lastly a morning coffee. Given the people she had to work with, she needed it. To say the least, the impression she had gotten over the past week had been less than ideal. The group she had become apart of felt nothing more than a ragbag band of individuals pretending to be an agency. The fact that she found herself among them was bothersome, but she wasn't one to quit so easily, even if her co-workers weren't her kind of style. Perhaps they would grow on her.

Scoffing off the though of such, Megumi finally left her apartment, making sure to lock it behind her just in case. Her home wasn't necessarily in the safest of places after all. It was so unbefitting of the kind of person she strove to be, but she had to take what she could get, as much as it pained her. Life wasn't always going to be kind, and she had learned that the hard way. Such a fact had shaped her into who she was today.

Her walk to work wasn't a long one by any means. That had been a lucky thing for her. Being able to avoid public transportation was the real positive of this job thus far. It was a sad fact to admit, though. Stopping outside the building, Megumi looked at it momentarily and allowed a sigh to escape her lips. No matter how many times she told herself it would get better, she couldn't believe it, especially upon staring at the dinky building she had to work out of. "Keep it together," she uttered to herself, taking a moment to close her eyes and mentally prepare herself for the day ahead of her.

All the positivity she was able to gather was brought to a swift end though as she heard Mesa's shouts coming from the office's entrance. Her face twisted immediately into one of disgust, and she quickly brought a hand up to rub her temples. Was this really already starting? She had only just arrived. Letting her wings droop in defeat, Megumi couldn't bring herself to move forward from her place. Frozen in place, cringing to herself, the poor woman was already second guessing her life choices.

The sound of gunfire could be heard reverberating through the walls of Finn's dark and decrepit studio apartment, the stench of death and decay permeating through each and every small orifice of an opening that was readily available. Stashed away in the corner of this miniscule joke of an apartment was the smallish form of Finn, his surroundings illuminated by the ever sporadic changes of light coming from his television screen as well as the blue glow that radiated off of his hair and tail; his bioluminescence going unchecked as his mind wasted away in concentration on a game he wasn't particularly that good at. Gripped tightly within both hands was a black console controller, thin fingers dancing away at the controls as snow coloured eyes remained fixed upon the television screen; the grin of a madman spread wildly across his face as he ignored the rampant barrage of 'flame' coming through his headset.

"Thats it! Thats it! Thats It!" shouted Finn, his finger violently pressing the upper right most button of the controller; the sound emanating from his TV reminiscent to the sound of a rifle being shot in short consecutive burst fire. "Take that you son of a bitch!" shouted Finn, "How do you like me now? Bastard!!? Huh? Huh?!! You thought you were some badass after that lucky ass headshot on me?!... Hahahaha! Well take that!" goaded Finn, his body rocking back and forth in his furore. "How about a parting gift? Haha!" he gleefully continued as his character began to unceremoniously 'T-bag' the fallen enemy sprawled across his Television screen. A classic case of 'behind the screen bravado'. Finn for a long time now had become quite the toxic gamer, an individual characterized by their frequent bouts of flaming and trash talk despite their anchored state of mediocrity.

This day in particular however had Finn on edge, the blue haired boy pulling an all nighter after in order to grind the last few victories he needed to progress up a rank. A lack of sleep, followed by a concoction of coffee, red bull and pure adrenaline had made him quite the snappy individual, so his toxicity today was even more intense than usual. Truthfully, It was almost a medical miracle that his body had not given up on him; though considering the intense aroma permeating from his room it wouldn't have been that surprising if there really had been dead body inside and paramedics had been called. Needless to say, personal hygiene had been sacrificed during the days building up to his all nighter as well as the night itself in favor of maximizing his game time; his only real breaks being to head to work,eat and use the toilet.

"Oh hell Yeah!!! Victory!... You all should bow down and thank me for hard carrying you through this match!" shouted Finn, as the large 'Victory' message appeared across his screen and the small 'MVP' icon appeared next to his in-game moniker 'BlueÐemon'. Finn tossed the controller to his side, the device bouncing against a bag of rubbish before hitting the floor as the boy fell to his back, that same wild grin as before once again spread across his face as his eyes met with his ceiling. With that victory, he had managed to make it into the Platinum rank; a rank reserved for the games best players from the region and a rank that certified his in-game talent and status as one of the elites in the server. A monumental accomplishment for the avid gamer, yet something so trivial within the real world; a world that Finn himself held little value for. Since the death of both parents at the hands of a 'up and coming hero', his outlook on life had been quite bleak; the color drained from everything he saw; the world cast in monotone.

The words 'Good' and 'Evil' no longer held the same meaning to Finn, the orphan learning from a young age that there was no such thing as a completely 'good' or 'bad' person. They were simply two sides of a coin and neither were completely immune to the other. Eyes opened to how warped reality was, Finn in his naivety had acted recklessly, taking it upon himself to enact a justice that he himself deemed to be correct; his vigilante arc spanning a few months with relative degrees of success, but mostly failure; the latter resulting with him being apprehended by a hero verified by society's current standards. Yet it would be that very same man who would take Finn under his wing, guiding him towards a path where he didn't need to skulk about in the shadows.

That path would lead him to the SOHC; a job at an agency that seemingly teetered between being legit and a complete scam. Initially finding the job vacancy on a fancy schmancy webpage, Finn despite his level of education had not been completely suckered in by all the 'hoohah' and had immediately been on alert when his 'skint' and almost laughable CV was accepted.

His suspicions would only come to be proven true on the day of the interview; Finn being led away from the glitzy building by its security guards and guided towards the dinky building on the side; the building that seemed to be the root cause for the trail of disappointed and frustrated people walking away from it in a rush. Finn however had been one of the few to remain, the blue haired boy going through with the job interview as best he could. Beggars couldn't be choosers and it wasn't like other agencies were willing to give him a shot anyway. Perhaps due to the amount of people refusing to join the SOHC, Finn had found himself finally landing a legitimate job; the chameleon boy showing little care for the reasons behind his acceptance and simply allowing himself to be overjoyed by the fact that he was now 'legally' employed.. though that did mean less time to grind.

Sighing, Finn turned his head towards the clock hung against the adjacent wall and watched as the clock hands continued to move forward, ticking the time away as it got closer and closer to the moment he would need to get himself ready. Forcing himself up onto his feet, Finn waded his way through the mess in his room and made his way towards the closet in his room where he began to search for a fresh set of clothing. Alas, when he did raise his arm to grab a shirt; the smell that would hit him soon after would send him tumbling back down onto his ass. A shower was well overdue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It would be a solid hour or so before Finn was dressed for success, a casual grey T-shirt, black jeans and a hoodie that almost resembled a fireman's jacket; though it was coloured black and blue. The black bandana he wore tied the whole ensemble together. Satisfied, he'd quickly grab and unfold his scooter; carrying it down the flight of stairs and finally jumping on it once he hit the streets; his left leg kicking against the pavement as he pushed himself forward.
It would take him another 37 minutes before he arrived at the SOHC; half a stick of cookies and cream chocolate pocky sticking out his mouth as he nibbled away at the snack; the scooter now being pushed along in one hand as his other held onto the plastic shopping bag he had attained during his stop at the local convenience store. The cause for the grin now spread across his face. Lady luck had shone upon him for he had just managed to snag the last remaining 'New Thai Green Curry Chicken Ramen' pot from the shelf.
Whistling in glee as his day had started this great, Finn still pushing his scooter through the front door of the agency had noticed Megumi standing before a doorway, the winged heroine looking visibly distressed as she remained rooted to the spot; her reasons unknown to Finn as he brushed passed her. "Yo~!" he'd greet her, raising the hand holding his plastic bag upwards. Unsurprisingly, his eyes would linger a little longer upon her visage; the boy still getting accustomed to being in close proximity to several women.
Lingering a tad too long, Finn had almost stepped right into the puddled mess now coating the floor. His gleeful smile quickly evolving to a look of horror towards the realization of just how close his trainers were to getting dirty. Having his trainers ruined would have completely killed his buzz especially since the first pay check was still quite a long way away.
"Tch" clicked Finn, not realizing exactly what the puddle was just yet. Glancing into the room Finn would notice both Kuzunoha and Yuuta inside, neither seeming to show much concern about the puddle coating the entryway. The latter had even had the audacity to begin eating. A sigh escaped Finn's mouth as he finished the bit of pocky he was on. "Oi!" he barked, slamming a fist against the side of the doorway; crumbs of pocky that he had on his clothing now showering upon the puddle below. "What if I had stepped into that mess... do you know how quickly my shoes would have gotten dirty?" he asked rhetorically, still not realizing that it was Mesa. "I.. I cant afford a new pair.. not until that first paycheck" he continued, turning around to face his scooter; kicking the kickstand of his scooter whilst simultaneously hanging his bag of shopping upon its handles. "Ugh.. whatever... where's the mop and bucket? I'll be the responsible one for now... until someone more suitable arrives"
It wasn't a good morning for Yuzu unless she was pumping iron at the gym. "Come on! Just one more rep!" She could feel her legs trembling as she was trying to push the leg press forward one last time. Whenever it was leg day, she always made sure she could feel the soreness the next day. That's how you knew you were pushing your muscles to the limit. After fully extending her legs, she could no longer bear the weight, allowing the machine to fall back into its resting position. Yuzu sat there trying to catch her breath, glancing at her watch to make sure that she was still okay timewise. Yuzu hated being late, especially when she was still trying to make good impressions on those within the agency.
She hopped onto her feet and grabbed her towel to wipe the sweat off of her forehead. It was about that time to head back to her apartment so she would be ready in time. She was lucky that her gym was not far from her apartment, making a jog there effortless. Her apartment wasn't in the nicest part of town, but she really couldn't complain as long as there was a roof above her head. Yuzu opened the door, breathing in her rosemary scented candles she had burning most times of the day. She was always fond of pleasant smells, reminding her of the garden her parents had at her childhood home. It didn't take long for Yuzu to get ready for work. After a quick shower and a few sprays of flower-scented perfume, she was presentable enough to her teammates. "Today will be another successful day." She said, ready to get moving. She was going to leave but caught sight of something dangerous in her kitchen... chocolate-covered strawberries.
The temptation was too strong. She always tried to eat healthy, but chocolate was something she simply couldn't resist. "Only two, I did work my butt off at the gym." She quickly grabbed two, devouring them as if she was a rabid wolf. Yuzu glanced down at her watch, if she didn't start moving now she might be late. She bolted out the door, locking the door behind her. Yuzu usually took her time walking to work, but it looked like it was going to be a sprint today. "Hopefully those two strawberries don't slow me down." The silver-haired girl said to herself as she was running. A cramp could ruin any chance of getting there in a reasonable amount of time. Luckily, she didn't experience one during her sprint.
Once she arrived, she noticed everybody was looking at a puddle at the door. "Come on guys, it's not a big puddle! Just jump over it." Yuzu said, cheery because of the sweets she consumed earlier. She hopped over the puddle and into the building, glancing around to see who was present. "As long as I'm not the last one, that is okay with me." She turned her body to face the door again, seeing Megumi frozen in place. "We don't have all day Ms. Megumi. A puddle certainly isn't as scary as a villain." She said, messing with her to see if the woman would move an inch.
  • Tsutsumi Katsuro
    BOOM!
    Without warning a blinding light completely engulfed Tsutsumi’s vision, the shock of it sending him tumbling backwards onto the awaiting floor. For a few moments he simply lay there, not even flinching after the sprinklers directly above whatever he was working on began dowsing his burning creation with water. While quiet on the outside, Tsutsu’s mind was practically going haywire trying to think of any and all possible instances where he had made a mistake. Perhaps it had to do with the wiring, or maybe even the frame itself, hell he even entertained the idea of it being the glass the one causing issues. Such a swarm of thoughts, though his words on the subject were fewer: “Prototype #14th, failure. Unknown reasons.” Now that the obvious diagnosis had been stated, the young inventor practically jumped back onto a standing position. By now his invention had been diminished into a piece of smoking scrap, and while its lamentable state made it hard to discern what it was, a massive pile of the previous 13 prototypes made it obvious…
    “But man, who would’ve thought that making a microwave would be such an interesting task!” Tsutsumi thought, barely able to contain his enthusiasm. Turns out, not too long ago, Kuzu had attempted to bake one of those simple microwave mug cakes. By the end of said cooking experience the results were lamentable, so much so that it made his boss curse out the agency’s kitchen electronic. Not only that, but several others had pointed out how whenever they tried heating up their lunches the microwave would thoroughly heat up the outside, yet the inside would be cold. Thus Tsutsu took it upon himself to give the agency a microwave that could please all of their lunch needs, and maybe even more. The image of all of the agency members eating and laughing together as their fears of under heated food evaporated from their minds was all that Tsutsumi needed to continue forward. Or at least he would’ve, if he hadn’t noticed what time it was. “Damn it, I haven’t even finished testing yet. Welp, I guess we’ll have to do some live-examination on prototype 15 then.” The prototype in question was a very average looking white microwave, albeit slightly bigger than your usual models. Without hesitation Tsutsu simply picked it up, yelled a farewell to his parents and was off.
    Finally Tsutsumi was standing on the stairs leading up to the agency. The bus ride there had been somewhat awkward as his microwave carrying shenanigans did attract many weirded out looks his way, though Tsutsu’s excitement made him impervious to those. Doesn’t matter now, he was already there and he had brought early Christmas to the agency’s doors. Microwave Christmas.
    “Yooo what’s up guys.” Tsutsumi announced his arrival to everyone as he came through the door. From the looks of it, things were already lively. Kuzu’s ( poi poi ) stare, Megumi’s ( Ploegy Ploegy ) frozen terror, Finn’s ( Phayne Phayne ) frustrated demeanor and Yuzu’s ( Slav Slav ) cheery villanous comments. All because of an eldritch looking puddle. But hey, at least Yuuta ( IG42 IG42 ) was having an…enjoyable breakfast? Whatever the case, Tsutsu’s attention had now been snagged by the puddle’s existence. Such an odd and unique look, mayhaps he could somehow use it in his inventions. The time for questions had passed, now it was time to investigate. Oh, and it was also the time for gift delivery. “Hey Kuzu! Happy microwave Christmas!” He yelled at his boss as he threw prototype 15 at his boss, eagerly forgetting about that as he crouched down to look closer at the fleshy puddle ( Hanarei Hanarei ).
akari ;; hyacinth.
'Come on Aka! We're almost there!'
"I know, I know, I know!" Akari cried. The raven-haired girl leaned forward from her position in front of her tv on the floor, as if getting closer to the screen would help her succeed. They'd been at it for well over three hours already, and they were still struggling to defeat the final boss.
'Agh! Come on, you need to avenge me! We're so close!'
At the slightly distorted voice of her younger brother coming through her speakers, Akari let out a small growl, her eyes narrowing as her fingers flew across the buttons of her controller. "Almost there..." she whispered to herself. "So close..."
She could hear her brother's sharp inhale as her health bar continued to decline, but she couldn't focus on that right now. She was so close, the closest she's ever been, and she was not about to let this slip through her fingers again! Almost....almost....she bit her lip, forcing herself to ignore the cramp building in her hand from how hard she was clenching the controller. She inhaled sharply, holding the breath, not daring to risk anything. She was so close to death and...
"I DID IT!"
She screamed, ecstatic, and almost immediately Arata's voice joined in with hers. "We did it, we did it, we did it! Ara, finally!!!!" she exclaimed, jumping to her feet to dance around the small living room in her apartment. Or well, she would've danced if her legs hadn't crumbled underneath her, having gone numb from sitting cross-legged for so long. "Oumph!" she grunted, crashing right back to the floor, whacking her head. "Ow..." she whined.
'Aka? You okay?'
"Yeah...yeah I'm fine." Akari answered, a little winded. "Uuuuggggggghhhh, okay focus time." she said, pushing herself up so she could see over the table behind her. "Now all we need to-" she paused, eyes widening at the digital clock blinking back at her.
8:15 am
'Aka?....Akari? Everything okay?'
A high pitched shriek was her response. "I'M LATE!!!!" she screamed, falling into a panic. "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, oh god oh god oh god oh god...."
Scrambling to her feet, Akari snatched her controller off the floor and hurried to log off the system before tossing the handheld onto the charger. "Sorry Aka, I gotta go! Love you, tell Aki I miss you both, bye!" she rushed before ending the call and running to the bathroom. Luckily she'd had the foresight to put her clothes in the bathroom the night before so all she had to do was get dressed and brush her teeth.
Quickly throwing on a pair of high waist flare leg black pants, and a pink and white crop top, she dashed into her tiny kitchenette and ripped open a package of instant ramen, throwing some hot water in the cup and letting it start to cook. Hurrying back into the bathroom, she spit the toothpaste out of her mouth and wiped her face before turning the light off and going back to the kitchen. Grabbing a light jacket from off the back of a chair, she shrugged it on as she checked her pockets to make sure she had her wallet. Nodding to herself, she grabbed her impromptu breakfast and grabbed her phone off the table in the living room before running out the door.
She glanced down at her phone and winced at the information displayed. 8:25 am....34%
Akari was tempted to cry. So very tempted....She'd been doing so well, not getting lost in her games since she'd started at this new agency. She really hoped she didn't blow it.
Thankfully for her poor sanity, Akari didn't live very far from her new place of work and was able to get there in a matter of minutes. Jogging up the stairs to the entrance, she paused in the doorway, a forkful of noodles in her mouth. Seems like...something had happened. She blinked, swallowing half the noodles in her mouth before slurping up the rest that had been falling out and resting on her chin.
"Um..." she mumbled around the food in her mouth. "Anyone, have a charger?" she swallowed, holding up her phone in her free hand.
Giri Kyumachi
On route to work (at a pastry store)
“Sorry for the wait, that was sencha green with half a dozen apple cinnamon doughnuts?” A friendly clerk piped up, gently laying the small box of doughnuts on the counter as he promptly placed the tea next to it. His face was clean cut and friendly, proclaiming his youthful inexperience to the world with a dazzling smile untouched by hardship.
Eyebrows raised in silent appraisal, the Electric Hero known to very few as Pharaoh mentally debated his age for no more than half a second, doubtlessly younger than twenty but clearly old enough to have graduated from primary schooling. The notion of the youthful clerk being a dropout was washed away by the sheer positivity and openness that was expressed in his demeanor—Kyumachi had known many drop outs and very few were as shining as this youth.
All the better for it, Kyumachi silently decided, as he leaned forward. His bare arms braced themselves on the counter and his lips parted into a toothy grin. “The wait was no real problem, don’t worry about it.” Giri Kyumachi brushed it aside with a candid attitude that only made the young clerk smile brighter.
“It’ll be 2,000 yen, sir!”
“Of course, 2,000 yen.. Hefty.” Kyumachi muttered, pulling himself from the counter top and side eyeing the line behind him—three other adults who were occupied on their phones or checking their watches. “You know, friend, I am a hero.”
The youth gave a clueless nod, the happy-go-lucky grin shrinking slightly. “That’s pretty cool! Sorry I didn’t recognize you at all, are you new to the area?”
“Mhhhhm,” The ginger hummed thoughtfully. “I’ve been around for a little bit. It’s my first time stepping in here though, it came highly recommended.” There was a prideful puff of the clerk’s chest that drove Kyumachi forward. “Am I the first hero to wander in?”
“Yessir! Well, none introduced themselves as heroes before. If you don’t mind me asking..”
The question was all too common, the youth wanted a name to shout to his friends later. “Not at all. Pharaoh, a name you’ll come to recognize everywhere very soon.” Kyu said with a confidence matching a top 30s hero. He was far from breaching the top 1,000, dancing just shy of 1,100 last he checked (that very morning). Though Kyumachi never shied from his dreams, they’d come, he merely needed a significant event to propel him to the top.
“Pharaoh! So cool,” The youth looked eager to ask him more questions but a loud cough from Kyumachi’s rear shook the clerk from his stupor. “Uh, sorry for the wait everyone, that’s 2,000 yen Hero sir!”
“Right,” Giri Kyumachi drew the word out, his pupils lengthened as he studied the clerk. “I am a hero, you know.” He emphasized.
“Yes…?” The clerk nodded, his smile struggling to hold itself together.
“For my very dangerous profession, I was hoping to earn a little gratitude from the people.” Pharaoh’s smile slithered up his face as understanding dawned on the clerk.
“I’d love to help out but… We really don’t have a policy for discounts or freebies. I’m really sorry, we’re small.” The youth shrugged. “Family run, y’know?”
Annoyance danced across Kyumachi’s features for a ghost of a second before he composed himself. “Oh I get it,” he said nonchalantly, his slit eyes focused on the youth with a newfound intensity. “I’d hate to tell my hero friends not to stop by some time, to say it’s no good to our types, though.”
Heat flushed to the clerk’s face as he shook his head. “Well that’s not exactly.. Y-you know, I’m just…”
“It’s a decent part of town,” The ginger paused then looked out of the store’s front windows. There was a healthy amount of civilians rushing to work and a few dog walkers heading down the street. The traffic was tolerable as well, so few resorted to slamming on their horns at the slightest disturbance. “It probably won’t happen, but you do know we hero’s have a policy in villain attacks, right?” He side eyed the clerk, his lips pressed together in a flat line as the clerk stared on with curious confusion.
“No sir…” He offered as his meager reply.
“Well,” Kyumachi hummed out once again, “We prioritize places that help us. If, say, a villain went wild and a competing tea & pastries store were to survive a villain attack and this humble ma & pa stand didn’t... Well, that’d be a tragedy for the entire neighborhood.” Kyumachi’s lips quirked as a frown found itself on the clerk’s face. “That probably won’t ever happen! Don’t look so glum! Let me just find my wallet…”
“No! No, sorry for the rudeness sir, I’ll get this for you.” The clerk waved his hands in sudden urgency.
“Oh, are you positive?” Kyumachi’s voice dipped to a sweet and sour tone, patronizing the boy as he pulled out his own wallet and poured the bills into the register.
“Absolutely.. Thank you for coming here, sir…”
The ginger picked the box up in one hand and grabbed his tea in the other. “Ah, I’ll be back soon, don’t worry!” Kyumachi shot the youth with a genuine smile. “It’s been a pleasure!”
The tea shop wasn’t terribly far from the office, far enough that a cab wouldn’t be the worst decision, but the soft rays of the Sun above and a gentle breeze encouraged Kyumachi to take his time walking the distance. Besides, the boss could hardly complain about his lateness on account of the major deceptions placed on his lap the second he arrived for his interview. The farce of an advertisement would be enough to bring down several government agencies on SOHC’s head. If Kyumachi wasn’t positive this was his ticket to the big leagues, he’d of given the Hero Safety Commission a call himself.
SOHC hadn’t won his loyalty yet. The fact he was the senior of the organization was a daunting realization. Every other applicant and employee had, at most, a few years of hero work under their belt. I’m working with rookies.’ Was his initial reaction to meeting everyone as the first week progressed. Not that Kyumachi was the most experienced hero out there, he prided himself on the years he spent learning the ropes and encountering obstacles in the form of villains and other heroes. ‘It’ll be fine though… They’ll help me make the big leagues. I’m sure of it.’
He could see it already..
Electric Hero Pharaoh and his team of sidekicks rescue the entire children’s hospital from dreaded villains!
Pharaoh and his youthful students stopped a runaway train carrying experimental and explosive liquids, saving the government billions of yen!
Giri Kyumachi to receive the key to the city after stopping S rank villain threat.
Fame! Fortune! The respect of his peers! Kyumachi would springboard into the top 10 by Autumn and be comfortably top 5 in under three years! He’d make sure the kids he was working with performed well enough to give him the spotlight!
‘Besides, they can’t be all bad, right? They managed to graduate and become heroes. That says something…’
The ginger mused as he stepped into the office building, taking careful steps up the flight of stairs with tea in his hands and four of the half dozen doughnuts remaining. “Good morning everyone! Pardon for being late, I was…” His eyes trailed to his coworkers outside the door then to the puddle of questionable and smelly liquids inside the door frame and the gathering of heroes doing nothing.
‘Good lord they cannot handle a puddle.’ Kyumachi internally panicked.
Aya.png
Aya was riding her bike through the city, the wind blowing through her very bright blueish-greenish locks while on the way to the agency. It was shady location to most people, but to her, it was a place that she was going to get her footing in the hero world with her friends. It was home for the time being and she did not question it. Especially when there was so many people in the agency so far. Hopefully they could start rolling in more cash to uh...make the place less shady! Wish it was on a faster roll though, just so they could stand out more, get more jobs and assist with so much more. A sigh escaped her lips as she continued her ride, making sure to avoid others and make it on time to work. While rolling up, she could see multiple people already traveling up the stairs and seemingly crowding around the door? Raising an eyebrow of curiosity, she hopped off her bike and began to haul it up the stairs and bring it all the way end to the balcony in the corner.
"What is going on this morning?"
she asked those who were outside while rolling her bike towards the end and then returning to the door shortly after, looking down and seeing a puddle on the ground. Did no one really notice this was Mesa? ( Hanarei Hanarei ) Taking a good look at Giri, he seemed to have been possibly on the same idea as her? Maybe he was confused just like everyone else? "I really don't want to ask this question..." she said softly while moving toward the door and squeezing through and over Mesa. Using her gems to look around, they landed on a bucket and she swooped over and grabbed it. When looking back at those at the door and Melted Mesa over here, Aya saw Finn ( Phayne Phayne ) trying to shake some of her off "Finn I'd be careful with that!" quickly she rushed over and crouched down beside her friend Tsu ( Servant Servant ) before putting the bucket down on its side and attempting to scoop Mesa inside. Though, with her being liquid...that was a little harder than she thought. Maybe the thread-maker should have thought this through first... "That's Mesa you're flinging around, Finn." she pointed out.
Even though she may have been the only one really taking action, she wished that the others caught on to trying to at least help her out of the doorway of all places "What in the world happened to you?" she asked the puddle that was her comrade.
EMA
ERINA HINO
Mornings. They're always so, so terrible.
Erina Hino was late, for the fifth consecutive day this time. By this point, waking up at 7AM and making it to work by 8AM shouldn't have been an issue. My internal clock'll fix itself, she would assure herself. Tomorrow, things'll get better, she would promise herself. But for the fifth day in a row she found herself stumbling off the train, completing her daily commute with bags under her eyes and the posture of an eighty year-old grandmother.
With her stop not being far from SOHC's HQ, Erina only had to shamble a block further until she reached her destination. She continued forth, rubbing her eyes and running her fingers through her hair in an attempt to muster even an inkling of more energy—she both felt and looked like a mess. Each time she would try to straighten herself or at the very least fully open her eyes, she would inevitably deflate like the world's most depressing balloon. Though she was, however, alert enough to notice a certain situation developing, situated directly within the entrance of her workplace.
Erina frowned. She was now standing at the base of SOHC's outdoor staircase, the very same one that would lead her to its office. But now, unfortunately enough, the area was congested with eight, or maybe even nine of her coworkers. Each of them bore expressions of either mild shock, confusion, or simple indifference. Erina herself was...mildly intrigued, yet nonetheless calm.
The raven-haired girl trudged up the steps, breathing in sharp, unpleasant wafts of viscera while doing so. Erina's body immediately rejected the scent, her face scrunching up as she pinched her nose. Why does it smell like a slaughterhouse? When she bounded the corner, she got her answer.
There laid Mesa Fleisch, or at least the fleshy remains of her. Reduced to just a puddle of living flesh, for a moment Erina was admittedly shocked at the sight, yet she was immediately calmed upon the recollection of Mesa's quirk.
"What happened to you?" Aya, one of her coworkers questioned.
"Maybe we're under attack! Any one of us could've done this. My bets're on Akari," Erina smiled smugly, merging herself into the crowd. "But could we all get inside? The smell's starting to get a bit much for me."
Late as Usual
Lane P. Brooks
NOT MY BEST BUT IT WORKS
Bright streaks of sunlight for Lane’s blinds hit the tried hero’s eyes as morning stuck. His eyelids shut tighter in order to fight the sun’s presence. He lost the battle. His body gradually rolled off his bed until he landed face-first on his bedroom floor. He let out a soft muffled groan of pain and of exhaustion. I wish I had five more minutes but might as well get up since Im out of bed. A tried Lane pull himself up with the bed’s sheets and stumped to his bathroom. To wake himself up, he stood in his shower as ice-cold water rained down on him. He rubbed his eyes and yawned loudly. Once his shower was done, Brooks retreated back to his room and into his walk-in closet. He grabbed a pair of ripped black jeans and a black white beater. To complete his outfit he took a black button-up and rolled the sleeves to be half up his forearm. As he put his watch on he noticed he was running behind schedule. You got to be shitting me, man. He rushed out of his room to the kitchen where his father was waiting for him. “Hey Sport, sleep well?” “Yeah yeah, Dad I slept well. Im just running late.” He said as he threw some bread in the toaster and clumsy pull on his boots. He asked his dad if he could take his car. Without a second thought, his dad threw him his keys and said “Your work clothes are in there already and I left my card in there for coffee and lunch. And of course, don't scratch the paint. I have a VIP event tonight and need the car for it.” The toast popped up and in seconds Lane said bye and was out the door.
Lane's dad used to be an alternative J Rock Star in his younger years. Now He is a producer at a major record company. His dad mainly lives the high rich life but Lane tries not to use his dad's money as much. Even though his dad wants to give him the world, Lane just wants to be able to show his dad that he's able to do things without his influence. In high school, Lane had to deal with losing his mom and trying to find out how her quirk worked without her. His dad went kinda silent and made it very difficult for Lane to cope with the loss. Hopefully, all his work isn't in vain he needs to show that he can be the hero that his mom used to be. He drove by the coffee shop ordering a cup of coffee and downing it with his toast in the vehicle.
As Brooks arrived a small group of people stood outside staring at something at the steps of the building. He just nonchalantly grabbed his bag and walked by the group of people. Seeing that there was just a puddle of water on the ground decided to walk through it as if it was nothing, not realizing who he was stepping on. “It's just water you guys. Don't have to be afraid of it. Not going to mess up your damn makeup.”, He continued inside just to see Tsu throwing one of his inventions across the room at Kuzu. Great it's going to be one of those days, isn't it? He pinched in between his nose. He took a deep breath. “Tsu that better not make a mess like last time. Also..” He turned his attention to everyone else in the room “Morning everyone. Sorry I am late. Does anyone know why everyone is staring at a puddle outside?” After stating his question. He saw that there was somebody missing, Mesa. Fuck. I hope she's okay.
everyone, cause of the ooc
Scarlet hues were pulled from the game on the monitor as the sound of metal falling against hardwood floor filled the room, and with it, the splashing of water; it was a clear indication that his funny little plan had actually somehow worked. The corners of Kuzunoha’s lips tugged up into a smug grin that only widened the more he tried to bite back his laughter, though his attempts at doing so would prove to be futile upon seeing Mesa’s soaked apparel.
“Pfft, you― haha, you actually fell for it!” Kuzunoha’s features visibly brightened as his laughing continued. “Honestly I didn’t think it’d work right away, y’know? Hehe, thank you for your noble sacrifice, Mes― eh? What’s with you?”
“―It burns… IT BURNS… OH GODS WHY! WHYYYYY!” the woman cried out in apparent agony, her skin bubbling and almost liquifying in an unsightly manner as she collapsed onto the floor. At this, the ginger’s pleased expression immediately contorted into one of deadpan confusion, him seemingly trying to process what the hell just happened. (During this time, Yuuta and Finn would stroll on in, the former making a nonchalant comment about the flesh hero’s state and the latter getting irritated at the fleshy mess without realizing what it was.)
Finally, Kuzunoha stopped buffering. “Ehhh…? Your weakness is water? Seriously?!” He exclaimed, his tone taking on a sense of urgency―though it was still laced with disbelief. “How did you survive all these years! Wait, does that mean you’ve never once taken a shower?!? Mesaaa!!”
Eventually, people began to arrive, one by one. Granted, most of them were caught up in the entrance because of the puddle that was now Mesa. Kuzunoha could only stare at the scene unfolding in front of him; Yuzuki simply hopping over like it was an everyday occurrence while Megumi looked like she didn’t want to deal with any part of this whatsoever. He almost didn’t notice the microwave being hurled in his direction, though the sound of someone shouting, “Hey Kuzu! Happy Microwave Christmas!” allowed him to react just in time by lifting his arms up to shield his face. Of course, this would only result in the appliance crashing onto the floor, pieces of it pitifully scattering upon impact.
“Ohh. Ohhhhhh. Yeah, so, Tsu-chan,” Kuzunoha piped up, “You’re not gonna believe this, but… I forgot to catch the microwave. It’s on the floor now. ✩”
― ♡ ―
ooc: a bit of a gm-action type of thing, but because a bunch of people being backed up outside makes things a tad bit awkward, those who haven't yet passed by mesa/aya/tsutsumi by now have presumably filtered into the building one way or another. the trio mentioned are included with those who are already inside, so they aren't impacted. aside from that, you may continue reactions/conversation like normal; just assume some things happened at the same time as them going inside, or something.
― ♡ ―
Noting that Lane had at some point made his appearance, Kuzunoha's eyes lit up with some kind of realization―that mischievous expression he always seemed to don now back on his face as if it hadn’t ever left in the first place. In a sly yet casual manner, Kuzunoha made small strides around the room before “accidentally” bumping into the albino. “Oh, wow! I didn’t notice you there! When did you arrive?” He feigned, bits of sarcastic surprise evident in his words. “Ah. Well. Since I ran into you here… Laaa~ane, can you clean up the water and the microwave pieces? But you can’t say no, because I’m your boss!” His warm irises glanced around at his surroundings before landing on Aya trying to scoop Mesa-Mush into the bucket. “Yeah, yeah and―see, you have to do it also because you stepped on the Mesa-puddle AND got in Aya-chan’s way. It's only retribution, or whatever.”
Attempts to search for a mop and bucket were all but futile as upon turning around, the blue haired reptilian would be greeted by the arrival of Yuzu, the silver haired 'ripped' heroine. Someone he had hoped would act with more responsibility that those that had arrived thus far. With an extra bounce in her step, Yuzu had all but misunderstood the real issue at hand; at least the issue that Finn was having with the oddly colored puddle. It wasn't so much the fact that there was a puddle on the floor that had caused Finn to pause in his step; rather it was the fact that the puddle was being dismissed by several of the other members of the SOHC. Finn was by no means the cleanest person, nor was he the most scrupulous when it came to work.. but he was still trying to help make the environment somewhat more pleasant to work in. A puddle here was nothing short of an accident waiting to happen.
The situation would only spiral into more chaos once Tsutsumi arrived, the resident inventor bringing along another of his zany inventions; a potential ticking time bomb as it was yeeted in the direction of the 'yet to be revealed' instigator of this whole mess; Kuzu. If there was a silver lining thus far, it was that the potential bomb was thrown away from where Finn presently was; its creator now absorbed in his own peculiar interest in the puddle.
A quick palm to the face was all Finn could muster as he slumped against the stairway's guardrail, back against it as he tilted his head back and stared skyward; lamenting the decisions he had thus far made on his road of redemption.
His moment to himself was soon interrupted by the arrival of a few others; their questions causing Finn to glance to the side to where they had appeared by the stairway. The first to catch Finn's eye was Sato. Considering those that Finn had seen thus far in the SOHC that had remained after the first few days, Sato was clearly the one with the most 'interesting' of appearances, his face quite literally being a cloud. Finn gulped, watching his face literally undulate against the soft breeze. There was something unnerving about being unable to read someone's expression.
Thankfully he'd be torn away from staring too long by the sound of Akari slurping up her noodles and while she had been successful in getting all the noodles inhaled, it didn't quite have the desired effect as remnants of the noodle's soup still lingered against her chin. Though considering how she spoke with food in her mouth, it was doubtful that she was all too bothered by that fact. A sigh would once more escape Finn. "Nope... not one that will work with your phone..." replied Finn, holding up his own cracked screen mobile. Through the various cracks, one would see a wallpaper featuring the number 1 hero in his glorious T-pose. "You might have better luck inside... though I wouldn't go in just yet.." added Finn, glancing in towards the office interior, before sauntering up to the taller girl, both hands now pocketed.
"Tsutsumi's got another invention inside" he spoke, voice fairly soft as he winked. "...it might be safer outside... at least till we know that this one is safe.." he continued, before stepping back and raising an arm up in a half hearted wave; the Chameleon noticing Kyumachi coming up the stairs. "Yo~" greeted Finn, though inwardly he was counting down the seconds as he awaited one of two reactions from the unfairly tall red head.
'...and there it is...' thought Finn, as he watched Kyumachi's attention be drawn to the puddle; the man silenced midway as his attention fell upon the mesa mess. At this point, the situation was simply becoming more like a guessing game to see whether the others would either: A. Ignore the Puddle and go in. B. Stop and Stare at the Puddle or and so far no one had really opted for this option, C. Take responsibility and clean the mess.
Finn himself had thus far been more 'talk' and while he did make the suggestion of actually getting a mop and bucket, he had thus far yet to 'walk' and act on the suggestion. Alas, there would finally arrive someone with the decency to take option C and begin to clear the mess. Though that was of course after she had unceremoniously stepped over the puddle. Unlike Lane who had stepped into the puddle instead, the white haired hero uncaring of how his shoes would potentially be dirtied by the act. Finn would have been absolutely mortified if his trainers were stained.
"Hmm what do you mean?.. Be careful with..?" replied Finn as he raised a brow in confusion towards Aya's remark. He hadn't noticed that he had in fact left a footprint on the oddly coloured puddle. "Oh no... Oh no no no no NOOOOOO! This isn't happening right now!!" cried Finn, his expression distorted into wide eyed dread as if impersonating 'The Scream'. "Are you fuckin kidding me?!" shouted Finn, falling back onto his ass as he raised his dirtied shoe skyward, noticing the blotches of marks left on his prized trainers. "T...th..these shoes.. were... they were... expensive... even after... the 80% sale!!" lamented Finn as he shook his foot about, trying to get the invasive blotches off of them. "Who the hell even made this damn puddle!" he shouted, glancing towards the buildings interiors. It had to be one of them, there was no other explanation.
He'd turn his focus back to Aya as she spoke once more. "You're damn right this is a mess!" he replied, not hearing her completely and assuming that she was attempting to stop him from making an even bigger mess by spreading the puddle everywhere.
Erina's arrival would only serve to add fuel to the fire. "You're damn right someone did this!" he added to Erina's sarcastic accusation; though he took her seriously. "... and I ... I think I know who it was..." he continued, glaring into the room. "It has to be either Yuuta or Kuzu!. They were the only ones inside when I came and I was only a minute after Megumi!" he added, giving the pair of them the death glare. If only Tsutsumi's microwave would explode at this moment, that'd be karma defined.
It would be a few minutes of overreacting and calming down before Finn would make his way into the office alongside the others, though he would head directly towards the bathroom, the blue haired hero quickly grabbing a wet cloth as he attempted to restore his trainers to their former glory now that there were only stains and no more globules of puddle goop on them.
"Come on, come on, come on!... Come off... please come off..." muttered Finn to himself as he wiped away. 'Whichever one of them did this... oh they better be buying me a new pair of trainers... FULL RETAIL PRICE!' he thought to himself.
The now bubbling pile of flesh and partially wet clothing continued to ooze slowly along the floor at the scene of the crime blocking off the entrance for those not daring enough to step over it. One hand that had reached out in dramatic fashion stretched out though the skin having 'melted' oozing out looking far less like a hand as the digits blended together. It was far from her first time putting on such a disgusting show, though not getting to quite pull off a strange reenactment of the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz in her previous little pranks. If someone was going to pull off a little prank on her, she wasn't at all going to hesitate to throw the already hard facade of professionalism she had intended to show straight out the window... or in this case the door.
She did get her little kicks when the prankster seemed to buy completely into her little charade. Yuuta's eventual entrance and greeting being met with a gargled response, not just to play up the act of being melted as much as her current shape making the idea of speech a bit more difficult. Distorting her body in such a way wasn't exactly conducive to conversation after all. Perhaps a flaw though also a benefit to her quirk that allowed her disguises to work out so well, even if it did involve a bit more tinkering to get the voice down even with a very accurate replication of someone's shape.
More interesting was the fact it seemed to spark various reactions from those arriving. Whether it was complete hesitation standing outside the doorway to the mess that was her 'melted' body (albeit some not quite understanding what that weird goop was on the floor) or the more daring slipping right past her. It was entertaining hearing as a few seemed to recognize her while others were oblivious as to what the mess in front of the door was. Her goopy flesh jiggling a bit as Yuzu prodded at her as if to see if she might be able to be moved. Naturally Aya's questioning about her being met by a gargled sound as she had made before though at that time a bit even more unsettling as her body had flattened a little more not wanting to drop the act so quickly. It didn't help perhaps as Lane had elected to walk through her, flattening bits of her body more.
Despite the fun it was to make the red head squirm a bit from his prank she did have some courtesy for others... at least a little bit. It was a few minutes after the last of the new heroes around that she began to move once more. The blob of what was once a normal looking woman slowly slithering along the ground as to slip into the place. Using her quirk to slowly drag her body across the ground even if it was at a bit of a snail's pace, particularly having her clothing to worry about. Skidding past the bucket that had been dropped on her and then seemingly attempted to be taken as a holding receptacle for her melted body. The melted flesh twisting around a bit as it moved evident by the clothing turning about to face upward as it plopped itself up partially against the wall clearing the entrance.
_______________________________________________________________________
Given a few minutes of seeming inactivity the Mesa puddle began to move once more partially spurred on by Aya attempting to scoop some of mess up. The fleshy blob writhing more as she slowly began to take back her shape. Excesses of her flesh breaking off being left behind. The melted remnants of a face crawling up the wall a bit. Her figure taking shape as she seemed to be slumping back up against the wall. The returning figure clearly revealing Mesa sitting on what was just a blob now clearly her butt sitting on the ground as she used the wall as if a back of a chair. A garbled noise once more escaping her lips before she lifted her hand up lightly clearing her throat.
"Ah-hem... excuse me... heya!" She spoke as if a late greeting waving her hand as the skin wobbled rather unpleasantly as her shape straightened back up appearing as her normal self with a light smirk on her face towards the other. The partially wet woman brushing aside the crumbs of pocky that hadn't managed to slip off from her clothing during her slow move inside as she slowly began to stand herself up in front of Aya. Mesa found some mild adjustment needed to make sure everything was back in proper working order as she straightened herself up. Walking forward towards Aya glancing up as she lifted her hand up to the top of her head before moving it over to Aya in comparison as if to check height. A light nod being given as she glanced at her hand containing some shoe prints lightly intended on it a she waved out her hand as it returned to normal though a little dirty.
Close enough. Her regular appearance was locked in muscle memory for her to return to though there was that slightly margin for error when it came to height. It was quite easy to be off by a few tenths of an inch. It was incredible what a small margin of extra bits here and there could end up adding or subtracting to how tall she turned out to be. It didn't help either she had a penchant for messing with people either adjusting things like her height just a bit to toy with people and ending up throwing herself off due to it. Her head turning to the microwave catching sight of it a bit broken apart from being tossed and landing on the ground. Her head shifting back to Aya giving a shrug.
"You know, walk in for work, have a bucket with water fall on you. Start melting a bit. Typical everyday stuff." She spoke with a light shrug. Only natural for her to be nonchalant despite helping to create such a scene herself. Her head turning to glance over at Finn hearing him yelling. The girl tapping her chin looking at him.
"Oooo, that's the one who was yelling obnoxiously. Hard to tell when your face down a puddle of goop on the floor. Makes sense... yes makes sense. Well.. or no cents given he is so worried. It's like it was the first time walking through human corpuscles before. It's not so bad... well until it starts rotting a little... speaking off, it might be good to mop up the bigger bits. It does tend to stink a bit with enough meat in it. That or ignore it, it usually disappears quick enough."
Mesa stretched a little bit, almost as if working through her new returned shape before finally letting out a soft yawn. As much fun as her little counter-prank had been it did take a little bit of her stamina to do it and she had far from a substantial breakfast. A soft grumble in her stomach causing her to place her hand upon it. It didn't help either she had been on quite a tight budget for a while as well. Her eyes glancing over at the others unable to help but glance at the... walking cloud with a body? Shrugging it off since it didn't matter and didn't seem edible. The girl glancing over at the 'boss' not even bothering to approach remaining near Aya as she spoke up louder carrying her voice out to reach him.
"Yo boss guy, got any food around, or does all this dump have to offer is buckets of water lying around waiting to fall on you?"
Megumi hadn't even made a move towards the entryway before she saw Finn show up and pass her by. Upon hearing his "yo," she drew herself back to reality and allowed herself to fully comprehend what was happening at the doorway. A puddle. That was what laid before her, although it wasn't a normal one. From one glance, she could tell that much. Despite being able to somewhat tell that is was Mesa, the winged heroine couldn't help but wrinkle her nose and absolute disgust. Why did things need to be like this? This job was already sketchy enough, yet now she found herself staring at her puddle of a co-worker. How was she expected to work with such things? Again, her mind questioned her decisions. No matter how much she disliked her situation, she couldn't find it in her to turn the other way and go home. Returning to the work she had previously had was not something she desired, yet at the same time she questioned how long she was going to survive this one. By no means was the work difficult, if anything, it had been the opposite up to this point. However, her sanity was waning thanks to those she was put to work with, well, some of them at least. A handful of them were bearable.
Furrowing her brows from her troubled feelings, Megumi shifted her gaze when she heard Yuzu address her. Putting a hand to her chest, it was more than evident the woman had taken offense to the simple words the younger hero had spoken. Her once disgusted expression shifted to one of annoyance and a scoff escaped her lips. "As if!" she exclaimed, her voice resonating the same level of annoyance as her expression gave off. "No puddle strikes fear into me!" The woman could have gone on and scolded the girl for her remark, but the arrival of others forced her to bite back her own words. Even if she tried speaking, it would have only bean buried among the other voices. It was an inconvenience, but Megumi would have to live with it. While usually she had no problems of raising her voice above others and making herself clear, this one time she decided to back down. It was for the better given all the commotion that was taking place.
Leaving the mess to be tended to by others, the winged woman stepped past it, being mindful not to get any of it on her shoes as she did. Once inside, Megumi showed no hesitation in moving away from the group gathered around the entryway and instead found herself walking to the sofa. While it wasn't the ideal place for her to be, she figured it would suffice for the moment as she waited for things to die down. A moment of repose was bound to do her some good after all. With a small bow of her head, her wings folded up neatly and for the first time since her arrival, Megumi appeared at ease.
Her moment of peace would be only that- just a moment. The voices of her co-workers were more than enough to keep her from finding more, even as things seemed to settle down. Still, it had been enough to calm Megumi's thoughts and remind her exactly why she had continued showing up to this place. A sigh escaped her lips as she found that resolve within her own head. Raising her head, her gaze momentarily drifted toward Kuzunoha, though it didn't linger for long. As much as she wished to ask him what was in store for them today, she could see he was busy with others. Keeping herself out of such matters was probably for the best. Besides, keeping to herself among this group felt fitting. As of now, none of them had struck her as worth her time, even if some were bearable. Thus Megumi found herself alone on the sofa, with one leg daintily crossed over the other. Despite being alone, her eyes did quietly watch the others as if trying to figure out if one might be worth speaking with to pass the time by.
Sagawa "Sunder" Yuuta
Finishing his riceball with the reluctant gusto of someone who had learned from experience not to waste food no matter how distasteful Yuuta leaned against Kuzu's desk to watch the parade of people who could be loosely termed his coworkers stop to marvel at the Mesa puddle, evidently a lot of them hadn't bothered to remember the others quirks or had already forgotten. Dodging the low flying appliance he smirked slightly with a touch of relief as Tsutsumi's somehow Christmassy microwave smashed on the floor, he wasn't sure if he could entirely trust a random microwave lugged in by the tinkerer.
Spotting the bounty carried by his more sour-faced fellow redhead Yuuta picked up his overly long sheathed sword and hooked a doughnut out of the box. "Ta muchly but you'll have to do more than that to win my heart." Taking a bite he sighed slightly as the treat swept the nasty flavour from his palate. "Okay fine I'll let you take me out if you're bringing stuff like this Kyu-chan."
Blowing Kyumachi a particularly flamboyant kiss Yuuta was worried to see that half the sofa he'd intended to claim for himself had been taken up by the imperious winged form of Megumi. The desire to secure his spot easily overrode his distaste of her attitude, not that he'd ever be seen to hide away from it, so he swiftly dropped himself into the remaining space and leaned his sword on the wall. "Well hellooo there~!" He singsonged at her. "And how are you this fine morn?"
A Mess Already, Curses
Lane P. Brooks
“Oh, wow! I didn’t notice you there! When did you arrive?” Lane turned his attention to his smiling boss. “Just a moment ago, why?” he asked, hoping it wasnt Kuzu planning some crazy request as usual. “Did I forget to d..” He didn't finish his statement for Kuzu had a job for him to do.“Ah. Well. Since I ran into you here…” the white-haired punk didn't like where this was going. “Laaa~ane, can you clean up the water and the microwave pieces? But you can’t say no, because I’m your boss!” “But..but how is it my job to clea..” Kuzu clearly didn't want to do it and wanted it done. Now so Lane had to do it. “Yeah, yeah and―see, you have to do it also because you stepped on the Mesa puddle AND got in Aya-chan’s way. It's only retribution, or whatever.” Lane rolled his eyes and took and deep breath. “Fiiiine, but you need to delegate these matters to one of the rookies next time.” he said annoyed “I have more important things to do than these smooth-brained tasks.” He went to the closet and grabbed a broom and dustpan. Then he swept up the computer parts scattered across the ground. Try not to spill anything he just picked up, Peace carefully walked to the kitchen and disposed of it into the trash can. I'll get the puddle later he thought, not wanting to do it at the moment.
Since he was already in the kitchen, Lane decided to make himself another cup of coffee. Glancing over at the couch, he saw Megumi and Sunder chilling and having small talk. He needed an excuse to go over and talk to them in a more casual manner. If he doesn't maybe they just ignore him, thinking that he's trying to get them to do work. He remembered at one point that Megumi said something about her liking tea. Lane began making both of them tea. Once everything was done, brewing he took everything over to the couch and handed the pair some refreshments. “Hey, I made this for you two. Be careful it's hot.” He didn't want anything in return, he just wanted to be excellent. Lately, he's been a hard ass because of all the work that needed to be done. So he has to make amends somehow but in his own way and not because he was ordered to. He should have probably given it to the person who he literally stepped in but since that's going to be an awkward conversation, this will do for now.
He sat down in one of the little bean bag chairs next to the couch and enjoyed his cup of coffee. “So anything new going on with you for you guys? I recently got some new strings put on My Guitar. Can't wait to try them out when I get back home.”
Taking a small glance at the clock on his phone, Kuzunoha then clapped, the sound easily being loud enough to be heard by everyone in the office. He looked over the rest of his team, eyes lit up with a certain kind of vitality; not at all something that was “warranted” given what he was about to say next.
“Alright! It’s time to get to work, everyone! Finish up your food or whatever and I’ll send you your stuff for today,” he gleefully announced, making his way to his desk and plopping down on his chair. If one paid close enough attention, they likely would’ve noticed the slight sarcasm in his chipper tone― after all, there was no reason for anyone to be excited over paperwork, which was the only form of work anyone had done during the entire time they’d been at SOHC. “I know it’s not exciting, but all we have to do is power through it! And then, surely, at some point, something will happen! Definitely! ♡”
With the daily dose of copium out of the way, the ginger set his attention back to the computer and emailed everyone the documents that they would need in order to complete their work for the day. By then, the room had quieted down a bit and with that, the environment slowly fell into its usual boring rhythm. The quiet tapping of laptop keys, or the occasional shuffling of papers; if either of those were anything to go off of, it seemed as if this day would continue like the others prior…
At least, until about three minutes later, when Kuzunoha suddenly let out an exasperated groan.
“I’m boooored! I don’t wanna do paperwork!” In an act of almost-theatrics, his head slammed down against the wooden surface in front of him. “Seriously, what the hell are we even doing? How do we have paperwork when we don’t DO anything?! I’m calling an emergency meeting!!”
The male stood up, but the look of frustration he wore on his features was quickly replaced with a grin. “Mhm, mhm, yes… So! Your one and only most-competent-boss has decided on a whim that we will be operating on a client-based system! Yay!” He made a face that suggested faux ponder, before he began walking around the room. “It’s all ‘cause, well, y’know how it goes… by the time we catch wind of anything going down, heroes from other agencies have already secured those situations, and even if we were to patrol, we can’t cover as big of an area since we don’t have many people. Honestly, the only way we’d be able to properly respond to in-the-moment issues ourselves is if they happened really close by,”
A loud series of crashes could be heard from outside, followed by some yelling.
“―Kinda like that. So, with the client stuff, we can take on more personalized tasks instead, and do what heroes are supposed to do! Tsu-chan, I’m gonna put you in charge of updating the website because I said so! Mmm… then Eri-chan, Kyumachi, and Akari can handle promoting it! ✩”
“... Wait a minute.”
As if on cue, the door to the office burst open, only to reveal the tired form of a young woman; judging from the way she fought to catch her breath, it was apparent that she had rushed over from somewhere in a hurry. Moments of silence passed by, but once she regained her composure, she looked everyone dead in the eye for an excruciating moment before speaking up.
“Eh? This is supposed to be a hero agency, right?”
untitled hero story
― sudden mission #01: kao vs. yellow gang! ―
It turned out that the woman who came barreling into the office was none other than Uchiwa Kao, the owner of the small library across the street.
After the brief introduction period, she explained that the loud sounds from just before came from her store; apparently, some gang of thugs had been causing her problems for awhile now, but today they finally decided to take action by committing an act of thievery against her. There was no elaboration as to why, for some reason, but at the end of the day, the gang in question did seem to pose enough of an annoyance to warrant action. Thus, it was decided that SOHC would not only seek to get Kao’s stuff back, but also take care of the gang as a whole as per her request.
client notes
“Euuuhhhh… The guys who took the stuff aren’t really all that, to be honest. And there were only a few of ‘em. Buuut, if you couldn’t already tell, I’m no fighter, so… off they went, I guess!”
“Haha, I don’t have a picture or anything for you guys, but you know you’re dealing with the right people if they have a sun tattoo under their right eye. Of course, the people who stole my shit aren’t the only ones! Its a whole gang that’s bullying lil’ ol’ me ~!”
“Coincidentally, I happen to know where their base of operation is. Well, maybe. I’m not really sure anymore and I didn’t feel like going out of my way to find out, but hey, now you guys can!”
plan of action
The group will split into three smaller teams and each take on different tasks related to the mission. As an OOC thing, it may be worth noting that these were semi-randomized.
(♡ : "no, there is no team diamond. diamonds have four sides.")
team hearts: kuzunoha poi poi , lane StealthyShades StealthyShades , yuuta IG42 IG42 , akari izayoiix izayoiix
Team Hearts will be tasked with getting Kao's stuff back! It will be a pursuit against the specific trio of thugs who committed the theft in the first place. Luckily, they don't have a vehicle, so they couldn't have gotten too far yet. Due to its nature, this is something that has already started to pan out.
team spades: aya Britt-21 Britt-21 , yuzuki Slav Slav , mesa Hanarei Hanarei , finn Phayne Phayne
Team Spades is supposed to patrol the area and make sure there aren't more suspicious people trying to get at Uchiwa Kao. There is definitely a possibility that more gang members other than the thieves are lingering around!
team clubs: tsutsumi Servant Servant , erina Pyosimros Pyosimros , shaoko Orikanyo Orikanyo , megumi Ploegy Ploegy , kyumachi Basil the Bulgar Slayer Basil the Bulgar Slayer
Team Clubs, with the directions Kao has given them, will head to the location of what's supposedly the gang's base of operation, which appears to be in some kind of redlight district. More information will be learned upon arrival.
  • Tsutsumi Katsuro
    And thus Microwave Christmas came and went, followed immediately by Microwave New Year as the kitchen electronic had now been converted into a blazing firework, scattering a myriad of parts all over the office. Watching all those pieces fly off struck Tsutsumi not with anger or sadness, but rather inspiration. If most of his creations had such a fragile and short lifespan, why shouldn’t he develop some sort of gizmo that boosted all of his invention’s durability. Perhaps some sort of coating agent, or a chemical that made the exterior a lot more resilient. Whichever way, Tsutsu was excited, even if he had no idea how he’d make something like that.
    “Ohh. Ohhhhhh. Yeah, so, Tsu-chan. “You’re not gonna believe this, but… I forgot to catch the microwave. It’s on the floor now. ✩” ( poi poi )
    “That’s alright Kuzu, I think I may have stumbled onto something bigger and more promising…”
    He said, his hand now loosely hanging onto his chin as a storm of thought began brewing yet again. “...Though you should probably work on your reflexes, if you can’t catch a microwave then how are you supposed to catch criminals? Ain’t that right, Aya?” ( Britt-21 Britt-21 ) The inventor’s tone was completely carefree and with a sly smile he turned to face his newly-arrived childhood friend.
    Speaking of Aya, Tsutsumi had remained completely oblivious to what she was doing besides him. The puddle of flesh, as quickly as it came, had now left the premises that were Tsu’s thoughts. Sure, the entire situation was still interesting, but it’s not like it’d be going anywhere any time soon…Or so he thought. Most of the slow event that was Mesa’s regeneration had completely gone over the young inventor’s head, and thus he only caught wind of it once it had practically ended. Now, this did somewhat disappoint him. He had practically convinced himself that some kind of never-before-seen fluid had materialised itself into the agency, giving Tsu a once in a lifetime chance to experiment with something completely alien to him. What a massive shame, but at least the whole team was now there. And hey, maybe he could convince Mesa to still take part in some of said experiments. ( Hanarei Hanarei )
    Now that that mess had been settled and things began easing back into place, Tsutsumi could’ve gone one of many ways. For starters there was the obvious route that was fixing up the now trashed microwave, courtesy of Lane ( StealthyShades StealthyShades ), back to its former glory. An easy enough task, but perhaps it could wait a bit longer in the case any other emergencies came up. On the topic of an emergency, Tsu had been eyeing the situation that Finn ( Phayne Phayne ) now found himself in. His precious trainers were now on life support as the hero did everything in his power to bring them back towards the light. Considering his love for footwear, perhaps Tsutsu should make him a shoe-cleaning machine. Taking into account the pieces that he had at his disposal, Tsu could definitely make something for him on the spot, but then he remembered: Finn would probably prefer washing every single pair of shoes he owned himself before even allowing a single shoelace near any of Tsutsumi’s footwear-based inventions. How vexing, it seems Tsu would simply have to gift such an invention to the reptilian hero later on in a completely anonymous way. Perhaps for Christmas. Tsutsu was about to simply rebuild the broken up microwave, but then he heard it:
    "Um...Anyone, have a charger?"
    There it was, a request he could easily see accomplished, how opportune. Tsutsumi picked up the whole trash bin within which the scattered remains of his microwave lay, placed it on his side of the table he shared with Lane and, after activating Delicate Brush, began working. The pieces were all there, he just needed to fit them all properly together. His concentration was such that he barely even processed the presence of the brand new customer that now found herself at their door. Still, previous to that he had taken a mental note on Kuzu’s request to update the agency’s website, a simple enough task that would only take a few minutes. By the time everyone had begun moving around and organizing themselves, so did Tsutsu, for his makeshift charger was now done. Lookswise it looked absolutely scuffed beyond hell, the powerplug belonged to the microwave, the cable itself was rather thick and there was absolutely no usb connector, just a bunch of loose cables twirled together in an odd manner. Truly, the most crack of all phone chargers. And yet, when Tsutsu plugged it in and connected it to his phone, the device began charging. Looks be damned, it was working. There was no time to celebrate though, for everyone was about to start moving out. Tsutsumi walked over to Akari and handed her over the crack charger.
    “Heyyy Akari! Here you go, this charger should work out for now. Don’t worry, I tested it out myself, and my phone didn’t explode. Oh but be careful, if you touch the exposed cables you’re gonna get electrocuted reaaaal bad, so much so that you may be out of commission for a while. Anyways, enjoy!” ( izayoiix izayoiix ) Without even waiting for a response, Tsutsumi moved away from his workmate and began heading for the agency door, already typing-in the base’s direction onto Google Maps. While he definitely found it odd for him to have been chosen for the base assault, he wasn’t about to start arguing, and hey perhaps there was something he could do. “Yo Clubs! Do any of us have a car or do I call us over an Uber?” ( Basil the Bulgar Slayer Basil the Bulgar Slayer Orikanyo Orikanyo Pyosimros Pyosimros Ploegy Ploegy )
akari ;; hyacinth.
There was...a lot going on. Akari was very confused about the mess that was the agency, but what really mattered? Clearly no one gave a shit that she was late! Score!
She shuffled in behind the others, more than happy to go with the flow and find a semi out of the way spot where she could eat her noodles and watch the show unfold. Perk of working with such a unique group of people. Not like she was complaining, even though they hadn't done much yet, she was still happy to be here.
"Heyyy Akari!..."
She perked up at the sound of her name. Wiping the leftover liquid from her breakfast off of her chin, she tilted her head in question at her approaching coworker. As Tsutsumi continued to speak, explaining that he'd heard about her request for a charger, her eyes began to sparkle. After Finn had already said his wouldn't fit her phone, she'd given up, figuring she'd just have to spend the day without her phone as an entertainment system. Sucks, but it is what it is.
However! It seems that her luck was changing.
"Aaaa! Thanks so much Tsu!" she exclaimed. Phone in one hand, mostly empty cup of noodles in the other, Akari jumped to her feet and threw her arms around her coworker in excitement. While she heard his following warnings about exposed cables, but for the moment she didn't pay it much mind. Quickly unhanding Tsutsumi just as fast as she'd grabbed him, she gratefully accepted the charger and darted over to the nearest outlet. Bouncing in place as she set her food down, she was almost giddy as she plugged the charger into her phone and then into the wall.
"Heheh, this is awesome Tsu!!!" she called back happily. Lady Luck was clearly turning to her favor today! Maybe she would be able to play some of her mobile games today... "Eh? Wait did someone say something about a website?" she asked, realizing she'd just heard her name again.
Before anyone else could respond however, the door to the office burst open. They...had a job? Sweet! Today really was turning out to be a good day!
Having properly tuned in to listen to everything being said, Akari grinned as they were all divided into teams. Laughing, she stood up from her crouched position on the floor and clapped her hands, rubbing them together. "Alright Team Hearts, let's get this show on the road!"
"We've got some goons to catch!" she cackled, getting more excited. Her first real mission that wasn't just rescuing some animal out of a tree. She never minded doing those little tasks, but it wasn't a real hero mission. This on the other hand? This was what she'd gone to school for! She was almost bursting with excitement.
Quickly running off to get changed into her actual hero outfit, she grabbed her sword and strapped it to her back, and running back into the main room in seconds. "Let's goooo!" she cheered, rushing for the door.
Finn wasn't entirely sure how long he had spent inside the bathroom tidying his trainers, the marks proving to be quite the worthy adversary as he continued to rub away furiously; sweat forming across his brow as he slowly began to see progress in his attempts to restore the shoes to the mediocre quality that they were in prior to Mesa creating a mess. It would be during the time he spent in the toilet that his new boss would begin to hand out todays duties, a 'ping' to his mobile signalling todays batch of paperwork that needed to be addressed.
A loud audible groan escaped Finn's mouth as he twirled around and planted his derriere on the toilet seat; body leaning forward as he crossed one leg over the other; both hands wiggling the shoe onto one foot before repeating the process onto the other.
"What even is this..." mumbled Finn, both shoes now on as he opened the PDF attachment and took a gander at todays menial task's. How was it even possible that they had this much paperwork in comparison to so little practical hero work; Finn was sure he had applied for a Hero agency. Sighing deeply and pocketing his phone, Finn excited the toilet and headed towards the office, stopping slightly in the entryway as he scouted the floor ahead, hoping that nobody else had decided to liquify themselves for bants.
The coast clear, Finn entered the heavily populated office, just in time to hear and see their esteemed leader's theatre performance; the ginger haired hero reiterating the same thoughts that Finn had had while sitting on the toilet.
Seeing this as a means of procrastinating a tad longer on actually starting his pile of paperwork, Finn had listened attentively to Kuzu's performance; nodding in an overly mocking way as he agreed with the several points he made; not even caring as to how Kuzu was managing to get such realistic and believable sound effects to tie in perfectly with his theatrics. Finn almost wanted to clap at the effort Kuzu had began to put into todays show; their leader was really taking todays tantrum up a notch with the added sound effects coming from outside... though how they/he had the budget to afford as such was a mystery that Finn had simply brushed to one side.
'Hang on...' Finns mind clicked only a few seconds after Kuzu's did , the blue haired chameleon turning to face the entryway as the door flung open, a young woman entering as her chest heaved from her heavy breaths.
Like the others, Finn would listen to her explanation; his adrenaline growing at a steady pace as it seemed like they would finally have their time to shine and to do literal hero work.
'Oh yeah~!' shouted Finn inwardly, as he outwardly maintained a decent poker face. 'Its about friggin time we got to do some actual hero work... my time to shine and show everyone else that just because I didn't go to a notable hero school, I am no side walk chump' he thought to himself, his chest puffed out with bravado.
With the team's sorted and their duties assigned; Finn's earlier excitement would quickly dissipate into a lacklustre look of acceptance. 'Patrol duty..... ugh... really....' sighed Finn to himself as he half heartedly got himself prepared. The excitement of hunting down the villains or storming their base of operations was blindingly more alluring than being left behind to ensure that the criminals did not return to a crime scene that would undoubtedly be swarming with local authorities within due time.
Tired from having his earlier excitement drained out of him, Finn would exit the building; shoulders slumped as he leaned against the guard rail, waiting for the rest of Team Spades to come out.
It seemed like there wasn't enough energy in her fellow agency members and Yuzu was going to try her best to change that. While the task they were given didn't seem the most exciting, it was an important role that heroes had to fill. She was going to make sure her group did it right. Yuzu stomped her way over to the exit, kicking the door open. "I hope Team Spades is just as energized as I am!" The girl walked out and looked down at Finn slumping on the rail. He was unlucky enough to be within her sights. "Way to show some motivation to be out here first! Looks like I'm not the only one excited to be on this patrol." Yuzu said, raising her arms in the air to stretch them out. "You have to make sure to stretch, I don't need you getting a cramp on me." She said, bending down to touch her toes. If they ended up in a chase or worse, a fight, she wanted to be ready.
Once she finished her stretching, her gaze rested on Finn for a few moments, prompting a question. "Why are you that short Finn? Did you not drink enough milk when you were young? A protein deficiency is not good for the bones." If it was anybody else, the questions would seem rude or jabs at his appearance. When it comes to Yuzu, the questions were genuine. She seriously wanted to know why he was so short. Finn was the shortest person that she has interacted with, so his appearance always piqued her curiosity. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to, I was always just curious." The silver-haired girl said, fixing her gloves so they fit properly. When you were as simple minded as her, topics like these always popped up in her head.
After a few moments Yuzu grew increasingly impatient, her face turning from a smile to a look of annoyance. This patrol was supposed to be with a group of agency members, not just a duo. "It seems like some people aren't as motivated as us. That's something I'm going to have to change." She wasn't angry by any means, all she wanted was for her team members to show the same enthusiasm. "Team Spades!!! Move your asses! We got an area to patrol." She yelled, shouting into the doorway so everybody could hear her. If you wanted a peaceful patrol, you got stuck with the wrong person. Yuzu was the embodiment of enthusiasm, never wavering in her energy. She was hoping that some of it would rub off on her group.
Sagawa Yuuta
Raising his brows curiously at the offered tea Yuuta accepted the cup from Lane nonetheless, when Kuzu urged them to finish snacking and get to work he exaggerated blowing the steam off the drink. "But I'm told this is hoooot! You wouldn't want me to rush and sustain a workplace injury because you encouraged me to be negligent would you?" Taking a pointlessly small sip he sat back to nurse the tea as long as possible before doing anything that could be interpreted as labour, it wasn't like the "boss" was able to hunker down for long anyway.
Mildly intrigued at the assignment Yuuta had joined "Team Hearts" without complaint and followed Akari outside while slinging his own oversized sword across his back once he was past the risk of catching it on the doorway. "Who robs a library anyway? They get their cards revoked for not paying late fees?" Leaning on the rail outside he looked over the building across the street for any visible signs of foul play. "There even anything to take aside from books or old dvds?" He thought back to when he used to loiter in libraries during colder months and did recall filching bookstamper once because he liked the noise it made and it was a bit of fun for some quirky vandalsim stamping random stuff around town with a due date.
