overview.
One hundred and one years before team RWBY's existence was the very end of the Great War. Remnant has long since established Academies within the realm, residing in the Vale, Atlas, Mistral, and Vacuo. To celebrate the peace between kingdoms, the Vytal Festival was created; every two years Kingdoms would congregate to a specific destination to indulge in each others culture and, of course, the tournament.
You have passed the entrance exam and been accepted into your chosen Academy at one of three Kingdoms of your region: Atlas, Mistral, and Vacuo. From here, you will be placed with your teammates and develop your relationships, your fighting styles, discover how committed you are to becoming a Huntsman/Huntress, and prepare yourself for the Vytal Festival in your first year. The tournament will test your bonds, your abilities, and your resolve... and what more might you discover as the winning team(s)? Headmaster Steel has arevelationreward for those that do.
Graduating early and learning some scary truths about what the world of Remnant is really up against... is it worth it?
A/N: Hi, GM here. I've wanted for very long to do this specific type of RWBY rp. The story is split into three Acts, with three chapters in all (five in the final). The first Act is going to be very Vol 1-3, very introductory and fun, up until the ending. Then the real heart of the story begins. It will become much darker and more thoughtful about the themes of children/new adults sent to war, the questions that raises, and what characters will become in the end. So, after all that, I hope you will sign up and stay until the end.

atlas
open
1/4 required.
Atlas resides in Solitas, the most northern part of Remnant you can travel. The City of Atlas (otherwise known as the City of Hope) now floats above Mantle, the original Kingdom that was known to be well-protected from Grimm due to the harsh climate. Atlas is at the forefront of technology and military, responding to Grimm attacks with orderly and efficient methods.
Mantle is the sole reason that Dust technologies now exist, and it was not long before Nicholas Schnee capitalised on the endeavour. The Schnee Dust Company has just recently rose to prominence, allowing the City of Atlas to float above Mantle with the use of Gravity Dust. All Huntsmen and Huntresses within this region are encouraged to test their abilities at Atlas Academy as the Academy exists alongside the Military.
mistral
open
0/4 required.
Mistral, home to Haven Academy, is located on Anima β the far east side of Remnant. The Kingdom has a strong connection to the arts, although during the Great War, Mistral had banned its citizens' use of the arts and self-expression in an attempt to control the emotions in prevention of Grimm attacks. Whilst things have gotten better since the end of the Great War, and slavery has long since been abolished, there are plenty of people still suffering the aftershocks and picking up the pieces.
Haven Academy is known for its high class structure and importance compared to the other academies within the Kingdom. Haven Academy coined its name as a safe refuge from the Grimm. Teams have a shared dorm with a common room, but with individual bedrooms. It is also used as a hub for active Huntsmen and Huntresses, so students can expect to see, learn, and interact with the best of the best in the Kingdom.
vacuo
open
2/4 required.
Vacuo is plagued with heavy industry and makeshift settlements due to the constant Grimm attacks. The few settlements there are, are made from nomadic tribes. The City of Vacuo, however, is composed of improvised structures and crude architecture. Construction in Vacuo is always relatively recent depending on wind conditions, Grimm attacks, and the general unstableness of the architecture.
Citizens within the City of Vacuo are incredibly resentful towards the rest of Remnant, only begrudgingly tolerating those from Vale due to its close proximity. Shade Academy is the only source of law and order within Vacuo. It is believed that Shade Academy, located in the center of Vacuo, is what holds the entire city together.
Rufus Steel
npc
The Headmaster of Beacon Academy. Professor Steel, in his recent years as Headmaster, has excelled at producing the best of the best for protectors of Remnant. His weapon is no doubt a reflection of himself: a longsword with sharp grooves that are no doubt painful when pulled out that rests proudly on his hips. No one quite knows what his semblance is, except those closest.
Rory Kirigan
npc
Professor Kirigan is a decorated special op for Atlas; deployed to Vacuo to investigate the trade truths (in reality, to find a weakness in the trade and exploit it) to which he was successful. Atlas continues to profit more from Dust trade thanks to Kirigan's efforts, and as such, was able to retire at a younger age and take a teaching job (in reality, scout for Huntsman and Huntresses that will be better fit in special ops).
Alya FΔng
npc
Professor FΔng is an active Huntress in Mistral, working at Haven Academy as a dedicated Professor with her whimsical tales of her Huntress exploits. She is dedicated to the betterment of Haven students, to the protection of Mistral, and if you ask her students... she never sleeps. Her admiration for Haven Academy is due to the way Headmistress Laurel has run the Academy and allowed current Huntsmen and Huntress to train the students.
Soren Sable
npc
Professor Sable of Shade Academy. A working Huntsmen of just four years, graduation was swift as was his acceptance into a teaching role at the Academy. Due to the scarcity of Huntsmen in the region, Prof. Sable sought the opportunity to assist students with his knowledge and, maybe, convince them to stay in Vacuo.

this is an 18+ RP! characters will be 18, and i expect us, the writers, to have had that experience. the RP is going to start off very chill, very rwby volume 1-esque, but not for long! we will have deeper and more meaningful topics along the way so adults only. (if you lie, i will find out )
rule two.
you are absolutely able to ghost this rp if needed, but at least let me know you've lost interest and how you would want your character to die (or if you want to make a final post detailing that yourself) we will then open the rp back up for spots to be filled! no harm done but be courteous and let me know!
rule three.
one character for now! if we absolutely need to fill in spots, a second character will be allowed
rule four.
do not spew military jargon when describing your characters weapon. i don't care how much you know about the army or military, be more creative with your weapon and have it make sense for the world of remnant please!
rule five.
no one can have a character that is a, related to an existing rwby character. b, have silver eyes. and c, is a maiden. be creative!
rule six.
semi-advanced to advanced! i don't need a novel of writing, however i would appreciate some effort in the posts. two paragraphs minimum and 1-2 posts a week at the very least! just let me know if life is getting in the way and you need more time 'cause whew do i understand.
