Fantasy Unsupervised Kids Saving the World or Something

amdreams

Black Market Witch
Remnant:

Basically, a couple fifth grade students get forced into a supernatural research club by one of their friends. Though they are skeptical, they become believers after they encounter and exorcise their first ghost. After that, they go on small "hunting" trips, finding and getting rid of minor ghosts. However, the spirits they encounter begin to become stronger, more malicious and more dangerous. Having to fend off stronger enemies and gaining new skills and abilities to help them, they get pulled into a much darker plot with an enemy they might not be able to handle.

Untitled:

The prologue to another rp, this is a 1x1 rp about 2 childhood friends in a small village set in a fantasy world. One friend learns of a magic stone that will allow anyone to use magic and drags the other on a journey to find the stone. And on the way, they discover and encounter all the wonders of the world outside their small village.

The fact that I had to google that really should've made me aware of the answer. But I felt like looking it up anyway. I can't find much on the content of the book. I found what looks like a character creation form but to see anything else, it looks like I'd have to buy it. And as interesting as it looks, I sort of don't want to pay for something I may not use . . .

What I can say is that I don't think we'll be using that system or at the very least the dice aspect (given that I have no idea what the rules are for it). Though the character form looks like something very interesting to do. I suppose I could figure out some way to adapt that sort of thing for this rp, however my main concern is that Remnant, or this particular one, was going to be a roleplay limited to a max of 4 main characters (5 if I decide to include an adult), and I'm not sure if something like that would be overly complicated for such a small roleplay. If this went well, I was hoping to have sequels with a larger character group but I'd need to see how this one goes first.

Should people want to do it, then I'd have to reconsider but there is also the big issue of me not actually knowing the rules of that game.

It was very polite of you to take a look at the suggestion, thank you. nWoD functions perfectly well with those numbers, in fact, I find most Story Tellers/GMs aim for that region normally. The Story Teller system's mechanics are pretty straight forwards once you are familiar (I've used it for campaigns, LARPs and one-shots at conventions). e.g. Kate is trying to pick a lock. The player rolls Dexterity and Lock-picking, and any die over 8 is a success. This site has a built in roller as well. It appears after you make a post, meaning players must commit to their actions.

In games where there is mystery and suspense, risk of failure or unexpected outcomes, is usually far more evocative for the roleplayers and interesting for the ST as you aren't certain of exactly where the characters' actions may take them. Of course, this doesn't mean you must throw your plot out the window, it's just more exciting as you develop it together. And railroading any RP experience is usually frowned upon, but that is a different matter.

P.S. I mention this as the plot you describe is the archetypical starting of many nWoD games, as it was originally designed around such. The multitude of supplements and game lines cover make it suitable for almost any mundane, paranormal or outright supernatural circumstance, but you needn't worry about that you like.

Utilizing the dice system and the chance of failure is certainly something interesting. And I think it could be fun to use. However, just to let you know, even should I end up using it, I can't really say I'll be using the nWoD system. This is because, as I've said before, I don't own any of the rulebooks and don't know any of the rules. So I will need to simplify the system, or rather create one, to better fit my own knowledge. I'd also probably need to simplify the character creation form as well, such as removing "firearms" from the skills.

If there is still room in renment, I would love to join. I simplified version of WoD would be nice, as I have never done it and it would ease those who havent into the system (Im mostly ST). Which would be super mega cool

Bumping because this RP has a potential to be great! (For more casual RPers who just want to have fun.)
