Satan

Carson ♥ 3 months. 3 months since the funeral of David Walker, the death of a best friend. Carson was sitting on the porch of his home, watching the rain outside. The musky smell filling his nose while the tires of vehicles ran over the splattering drops of rain. Carson was still in his pajamas, a pair of sweats with a dark t-shirt. He was holding a book, but not just any book. A male had stopped by Carson's house and dropped the book off without a word... it looked creepy-- Carson had to be honest. He hadn't dared himself to open the book, Carson did not want to do this along. There wasn't any title or author.. it looked like a bunch of old pieces of leather sewed together-- like something you would see off of American Horror Story or something.

Sighing to himself, Carson stood up and walked inside and walked up the stairs to his room. He lived alone, in his own little house. Being 22, Carson wanted to have his own place with his own privacy. He stepped into his room and sat the large book on his desk, going over to his phone.

"Hey guys. Um... Something weird just came to my house. Need all of you here ASAP." Carson texted everybody, except for Vedix.. He was going to call him.

Before hand, Carson went over and picked out his outfit for the day. It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon and he was still in his night clothes. Shows how much of a bum he has been lately. He dressed himself in a pair of dark jeans, his black vans and an Adidas shirt. As he was brushing his teeth, his hazel irises were glaring at his hair... he really wasn't worried about styling it. Not now. Finishing up, Carson walked back over to his cell phone and hit Vedix's contact, hitting the call button and pulling the phone up to his ear as he sat on the edge of his bed.

As the phone rang in his ear, Carson started thinking about the night of Davids death.

The bar was crowded that night, the smell of smoke and alcohol strong while the music boomed in Carson's ears. He was flirting with several girls, smiling at their giggles as they hung on his arms. He didn't go up to all of them of course, the liquor they had been absorbing took their bodies his way. He had taken a few drinks himself, being a little tipsy. That was when his phone started to ring and vibrate violently in his pocket.

One of his friends had been blowing up his phone and finally he was able to answer it. With a bright smile on his face, laughing into the phone-- Carson asked the person on the other line (
Open to anyone who wants to be it) what was up... That was the only time Carson had ever sobered up in less a second. His smile dropped and laughs stopped, his right hand gripping his phone while pushing up from the seat past the flirtatious girls. Carson was choking on air as he ran out the door of the bar-- getting into his car to drive to the scene. Many questions had escaped his lips while the hole in his chest oozed in pain.

The blind man had been reclining on the small, soft sofa he owned. He had just returned from his job, and was mentally fatigued from all the impatient customers he had. Vedix closed his blind eyes and brought his right hand up to rub his temples, it not doing much to cure the dull ache that had begun to aflict him not to long before. Deciding to do something about it, the man swung his legs off the couch and counted his steps towards the bathroom. Walking through the open doorway, he felt the mirror, gently prying it open before carefully running his hand along the few pill bottles. Taking one down and double checking the feeling of the container to make sure it was ibuprofen before removing the lid, removing two tablets, and swallowing them followed by a sip of water. Returning the bottle to its correct location and shutting the medicine cabinet, Vedix then cupped his and and splashed cool water onto his somewhat flushed face.

Then, his cell rang.

With a sigh, he grabbed a towel and dried himself off before following the sound. Locating the phone, the man answered, asking "Who am I speaking too?" Though his voice had been a bit hesitant, seeing as it had been the same exact phone he used to call Carson the night of David's murder...

Vedix had been pulled out of bed and picked up by (whoever) and brought to the crime scene, still trying to process what had happened with a sleep muddled mind. But once they had arrived, it became all too clear. The metallic scent of blood was in the air, sirens and people asking questions or demanding answers. He had been trying to comfort anyone else who had known him before being tasked with called Carson...

Rosalie

Rosalie was in bed with her caramel ice cream crying because a show she used to watch with David came on. She had been avoiding her friends because she goes into crying fits so often since his death. It was easy for her to retreat and be alone.

When her phone buzzed she was tempted to ignore it completely but she wanted to know if it was important. At least it wasn't a call. She had so much trouble answering calls now, afraid each one will inform her that someone she cares about is gone.

Rosalie had been playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf when her phone started to blow up. She answered the calls, sounding distracted as she answered the other person on the line (Whoever) but what they told her caused her to drop her game. She immediately started to sob and she hung up on them before she got too embarrassed. It was so hard for her to know one of the most important people in her life wouldn't be there for her anymore. If only ghosts existed.

When she saw Carson's text she groaned. She wanted to stay hidden but she couldn't say no to him. To any of her friends when they said they needed her there. He needed everyone. Either this was to cheer them up or something really big happened.

She changed out of her baggy PJs into a pair of black skinny jeans and a black and white shirt with a cat on it. Nothing to out there today. She was too depressed to dress up. Slipping on her ankle boots and grabbing her purse was the last step until she left her small apartment.

The young woman swirled the glass of wine in her hand staring blankly into space. Her large bedroom felt emptier than it did before. Why did it have to come to this? It's been three months and she's still not over it. She needs to get herself together for Christ's sake. Throwing the glass across the room, she watched the liquid splash against the wall and the pieces shatter across the floor.

"Damn it!" She exclaimed putting her head in her hands over her forehead. Liliana jumped a little turning around hearing her cellphone buzz. Good, a distraction. Reaching over towards her phone, she sees Carson's name on the screen. After hanging up on him after a brief conversation about him seeing something weird, she pulls on her clothes. After checking her makeup, she grabbed her keys heading towards Carson's house.

After walking Vedix to the car, she hopped on her side before pulling off from in front of his house. "This better be some fucking prank!" She exclaimed before driving towards the crime scene. After making it there, she was too into the moment that she forgot to open the door for Vedix. Liliana rushed over too quickly to see what was wrong with David, but the blood attacked her nostrils. Covering her mouth, she falls on her knees vomiting. She couldn't help it...it was all to much. The smell of iron just made her so...sick.

Charlie, whom people constantly assumed was incapable of emotions, was feeling one particular emotion as he threw his work attire in the laundry hamper in his bedroom and collapsed on the queen sized bed. Pure and utter happiness. Work at the oh, so famous Debbie's Donuts, named after Deborah Handle, the woman who founded the little corner shop, was exhausting. Tomorrow being Father's Day, loads of families came in requesting special orders for those darling fathers in their lives. Some costumers made Charlie hate his job with a burning passion. One customer got so mad with Charlie- who very calmly explained they ran out of chocolate icing and would only take a little to make some more, mind you- that she took her dozen of donuts and dumped them all over his apron. Basically, the day had been a rather hectic one and Charlie hadn't been happier to see his bed before.

If only this amazing nap could continue, Charlie was thinking as he mentally cursed himself for not thinking to turn his phone of. Of course somebody would send him a text message now. He figured it was his boss at first, she usually sent a group message to the staff after closing time on hectic days like this to see if everybody made it home alright. So, to please his boss, he figured he'd send over a quick reply and hit the hay early today. He was a little bit surprised to see that it was not, in fact, his boss, but his good friend Carson. Charlie sighed as he threw the blanket off of his body, slipping a clean shirt over his relatively tan torso after removing the dough and frosting stained one. He checked himself in the mirror, figuring he looked presentable enough, wearing a dark plain T-Shirt and blue jeans, with his black Vans and a red plaid shirt tied around his waist. He already smelt fine, working in the shop made him always smell of sweets and donuts. And even though his hair was still slightly messy, Charlie couldn't find the energy to care, so he threw a beanie on to hide it as he walked to the door. Carson said he had received something weird and though Charlie may not look like the type, he was curious about what it was. Besides, this was Carson. Though Charlie hadn't been as close to him before David died, over the three months since then, Charlie felt that he was close enough to call Carson a friend.

It was as the twenty year old hopped into his car that he began to relive the moment he found out about David's tragic death.

Charlie was staying late at Debbie's as it was the weekend and the shop turned into something like a bar after rush hour. He was serving a man a shot of tequila when he received the phone call explaining that David, the only person at the time who he necessarily considered a friend had 'passed away.' He kept his usual emotionless stare at first as he finished serving the costumer his drink. In shock possibly. Was David Walker truly dead? His only friend? It would be a few seconds that he figured out that it was, in fact, the truth. Charlie dropped the bottle of tequila, shattering the alcoholic beverage's container and contents all over the floor and tables. He ran to his car and instantly drove to the scene. He was hit by the foul stench of blood, of death. The faint smell of alcohol, but that could have been from his own clothing. He was in too much disbelief to know exactly what was happening. He remained seemingly emotionless throughout everything, throughout all of the apologies and all of the conversations. Unlike some others, Charlie didn't cry. He mourned for the loss of a good friend, but he didn't cry. He stared at the dead body of David Walker, unable to take his eyes away.

Carson♥ It was a relief when Carson heard Vedix's voice. Even if the man hadn't answered his cell phone the first time, Carson was sure as hell certain he would continuously blow his phone up until he did. It was just how Carson was, especially in a situation like this.

"You are Speaking to Carson Rickerson." Carson grinned lightly through the phone, sighing shortly afterwards. "Um, something weird showed up at my house today. I texted everyone else and told them to come over... is it alright if I come and pick you up?" He asked, running his fingers through his hair. Carson would probably end up picking up Vedix up anyway, even if he said no.

He stood up from his bed and started to pace in his room a bit, looking out the window to his car. He knew he probably had to leave soon... everyone else would end up showing up to an empty house. Carson grabbed his keys off his dresser and headed down the stairs-- hopping off the third to last step as He walked out the front door and into his car. Staring up the engine, he still held the phone to his ear.. Yeah, Vedix really had no choice now. He was coming whether he liked it or not, this seemed like the typical Carson thing to.

That was when he shut the car door and shifted the gear into drive, pulling out and heading to Vedix's home.

She woke up when she felt her phone vibrate, and dug it out of her pocket. She held it up and squinted to see it, before dropping it onto the couch so she could put her shirt back on. For a second, she felt cool metal hit her chest, a necklace, a gift from a friend.

The house was eerily quiet after he left, "he" because she was bad with names and she didn't need to know it again.

Nachetanya stood up and stretched, looking into the dining room before heading towards the door, grabbing her phone as she left.

The girl swung the door open, the light blinding her. Seeing no one outside, not that it mattered, she hurried into her driveway and started her bike, giving it a few seconds to warm up. After checking to see that no one was in the street, she quickly slid out of her driveway and started down the empty road.

Every once in a while she would see a neighbor, but for the most part it was deserted, not that she cared. In less than ten minutes, she stopped abruptly on Carson's block, seeing that his car was gone.

Wanting to take a bat to his house's windows, she stopped on the street outside his house, and stumbled off of the motorcycle. Nachetanya sat down on the grass, eventually laying down completely, and closing her eyes, and thinking.

"Mom," she had said. "Mom." The words came out as a racking sob. "Mom," she said again, for no reason other than to be comforted by the word. Her mother answered, alarmed, "Honey... what happened? Mike again?" Nachetanya shook her head, though Ms. Rei had absolutely no way to see it.

Realizing this, she let out a cry, like a small whine, and said, "No! No, it's David!" There was a pause.

"I thought you said David was just a friend."

"He is! He is! He's dead! He died, Mom!" She watched from across the street as the police officers and paramedics vanished, taking the body with them. She didn't have to see it anymore.

"Oh, sweetheart. Poor David. What happened?"

Nachetanya's mind raced. "I don't know," she said quietly, bringing her hand to a necklace he had given her for her birthday. It was a paw print, since it was a well known fact that she loved animals. The gift had been sitting on her desk for ages, and after she heard, she put it on and tried to cry as hard as she could, as if she could get the tears out and then pretend to be heartless again.

"I have to go."

"Be safe... I'm so sorry."

She hung up and echoed, "I'm so sorry. David." Her hand fell to her side, and she got back on her bike, pulling the helmet on.

Rosalie didn't live very far from Carson, just a fifteen walk. Driving scared her so she usually walked everywhere or rode the bus. This time though she decided to run. She thought the sweat would hide her year tracks and she'd get there faster.

Running tired her out but she for there in eight minutes. She saw Nachetanya laying in the grass.

"H-hey" She gasped, breathless from her exercise.

Vedix shifted his cell to his other hand and grumbled "I'm assuming I don't have a choice..." Before sighing and running his right hand down his face. "Alright, I'm ready whenever." Before hanging up the call. The blind man has gotten used to such behavior, especially after David's death. Waiting around, it didn't take long before a rather loud honk was heard outside his house. Grabbing his key, he counted his steps and made his way over to the front door and opened it before turning around and locking it. Facing his friends vehicle, the man then walked the length of his front lawn to the curb and felt along for the handle. Once locating, opening, and climbing inside, he leaned his head back and closed his eyes, it not really making a difference.

Carson♥ Carson knew that Vedix could hold himself, although He was always prepared if he ever needed help. Once Vedix got into his car, he put the car's gear in drive again and turned the direction to his home. "How was your day?" He asked with a small grin pressed to his lips. He felt like he barely saw these people anymore, and when Carson did see them.. it was too quiet or more awkward than usual.

After a few moments, Carson pulled up to his house again-- seeing that Rosalie and Nachetanya were in his lawn. Oh boy. Getting out of the car after shutting the engine off, he shut the door and waited by the car just in case Vedix needed help There were no other cars coming down the street or anything-- that was a bonus.

"Don't fight me, I had to pick Vedix up. But... hey guys." He called over to the females gently, wiggling his eyebrows at the end of his sentence with a weak smile.

She turned and looked up at Rosealie, squinting in the sun.

"...Hey," she said calmly, shielding her eyes with her hand so she could see better. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Carson's truck, and stood up, brushing the dirt off of her pants.

Carson jumped out of the car and said something, which she didn't process for a second, looking for Vedix. Carson looked like he was trying to laugh about a joke... at a funeral. Every movement and expression was so fake, purely for the benefit of others. She hated it. Not that she was any better. Just found it easier to hide her feelings. Finally, she responded, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"So glad you said that. I totally would've beaten the sh*t out of you if I didn't know you didn't want to fight," Nachetanya said, taking a glance at his house. When was the last time she had visited him? Had she ever?

"And, uh, are we going to see this thing that you're so excited about?"

As the car purred to life and was drove down the road, Vedix was thankful that his headache had slowly begun to back off, leaving the previous piercing sensation only now a dull throb. Though his moment of bliss has to be interrupted by the current driver of the vehicle the man was in. As Carson finished speaking, he grumbled a bitter response. "Hell as always...damned kids these days don't know how to treat those older than them with respect." Once his voice died, the rest of the ride was thankfully quite quiet, the fragile silence only occasionally broken by the chugging of Carson's automobile.

Vedix felt the car slowly role to a stop and carefully found the handle before stepping out of the passenger side and allowing the door to slam shut. Based upon his friend's reaction, it was safe to assume he was the last to arrive. Yet the grumpy young man remained silent until nodding slightly in response to the most recent question. "I agree with Nachetanya, what's this all about anyway?"

Carson He knew his friends were going to be curious about why they were even here. Carson knew he interuppted their grieving over David.. He interuppted his own grieving time. His eyes looked around at everyone, getting a fresh look at them after.. A while. Charlie hadn't arrived though, and David wasn't in the picture so it made ot an even bigger sore thumb to look at.

"I can explain and show you guys when Charlie is here.. Let's go inside. I can get it when we get inside. I can't really explain though." He sighed, nodding towards the house as he went for it first-- opening the door and holding it open for the next upcoming person. It was clear that Carson was freaked out.. He was curious to know if they would be as well.

Rosalie watched as everybody arrived. When Liliana commented on her running she just shrugged and looked away, "I just felt like running." She lied.

She was a terrible liar around her friends. She sighed when Carson said they had to wait even longer. She wanted to know why she wasn't eating ice cream right now.
