Undercover Knight

Elder Member
**for Carly and I**

In one of the strongest kingdoms around lives the royal family. The King and Queen have one child, a young girl whose bright and always out on adventures. There have been years of peace with no wars but that doesn’t mean that anything could arise any moment.

You are a knight, one of the new ones that’s risen through the ranks swiftly. You’re shrouded in mystery but no one questions it, they all respect you and your fighting skills. I get “bored” and decide to go out for another random adventure, heading off to some distant land to no where in particular. Maybe to see another kingdom or see what the peasants life if like. Either way, you’ve been assigned to be my guard on this trip.

Once again, she had wandered away without a sound. The duty to keep her in line was so difficult sometimes, and Luella hated having to prowl around and search for her once she had gone missing. Of course, she could not go far, but the princess always managed to do something while she was out of the tower. She was no ordinary woman; that was easy to see even with the naked eye. She never wore her dresses and practically hated being... well, royal. Luella was a knight, so the live she lived every day was solely for the princess. Sometimes, it got so hard to find her and keep her protected... but in the end, she always fulfilled her duty to her humble king and queen.

The woods were thick, filled with so many trees that the bright blue sky could not be seen. Light was shining through the leaves, which helped Luella ride her trusty horse throughout the land. The princess went all sorts of places, but this had to be the longest Luella had ever gone without finding her. Her eyebrows knitted together under her helmet. Perhaps calling for her would be a better idea...

Clearing her throat, her voice rang through the forest as she called, "Samantha! Where are you?!"

It was another day and Samantha had run off into the near by forest next to the castle, playing games with her personal guard. Hidden up in the trees, she peered down from the thick branches as she guard walked around calling for her. Stifling a grin, she dropped down from the trees and onto the knights back, knowing he'd be able to support her fairly light weight. "Right here Sir Knight!" she answered before jumping off and bolting out of sight. Quite childish yes and Sam knew that but didn't really care. She knew it annoyed everyone in the castle but hey, with her around there was never a dull moment.

Sitting on a lower branch of a tree not far off, she swung her legs and looked around. "I wonder where we are exactly? Do you know how to get home?" she asked looking down at the Knight who must be very irritated by now. Looking down at her now dirty hands, she rubbed them against her shirt some to get the dirt off some. While she enjoyed the outdoors a lot, she did hate dirt and grim.

"What time is it? Should we go home? I hope I don't have another dinner thing to go to" she complained with a sigh. Dropping down from the branch, Samantha landed right in front of the horse which occupied the Knight whose name she never seemed to remember...

"Hey!" Luella called sternly, her eyebrows knitting once more beneath her helmet. She could pull off any face she wanted and the princess would never see it because of her steel helmet. Clearing her throat, she took off her helmet and set it on her side, holding it between that and her arm. "You do have something to attend to at home and your majesties do not appreciate you running off all the time... nor do I..."

Even with that said, she knew the princess probably would not care because she was having her fair share of fun. "You know," Luella started once again, "it may be fun for you to run around and get your hands all dirty, but it is not fun for me to be chasing you when I do not know you are going," she kept on, finding herself wanting to ramble. She kept quiet, though, and her anger suppressed. Samantha always knew how to push her buttons...

The older female's hand ran down her horses mane. "Esther hates waiting, too... so get on," she simply said before turning her horse around, waiting for the princess to hop on as well. She would not stand for the younger girl to run off again today, but in reality, that was not her choice. Dinner was cooking back at home and Luella was instructed to bring her majesty back home so that she could attend. Plus, the knight was hungry anyway.

Samantha pouted and watched the Knight lecture her about things again. Not like she didn't hear this at least three hundred times a day and just from the Knight. Tilting her head, she studied her guard. He didn't look like others that she knew. (miss dimwit doesn't get she's a girl <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt=" xD " srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />) Oh well, she didn't care much to figure it out or anything. She had other things to worry about like her Mother trying to stuff her into dresses all the time. Man that woman would not give up and it annoyed the hell out of her.

Grumbling to herself she claimed up onto the horse behind the Knight and wrapped her arms around their waist. "Alright, alright I'm coming. You're no fun" she whined in a sulking mood now. "And I do not enjoy getting my hands dirty. All that dirt and stuff is nasty" she huffed letting go to look at her hands again. "Do think Mother will try and stuff me into a dress again? Probably right? Maybe I can ask Father first and see if I can wear something else. For crying out loud I'm an adult right? I can dress my self appropriately." Maybe she added to herself with a faint frown.

After that she shut up for a few minutes knowing Mr. Knight would probably get super mad for one running off and then two, rambling about nothingness. Sighing, Samantha turned around awkwardly, her back to the Knights as she watched the forest start to thin out.

“Your hands are dirty now...” she mumbled after the woman got up on the horse, making sure her hands were not smothering her nicely cleaned armor. It was hard to shine this thing, especially when you had no relax time because your duty was to watch over a runaway princess. It seemed that the princess was barely listening, though, as she rambled on about how her mother was to stuff her into a dress. Luella sighed and snapped her whip on her horse to get her to ride away. One journey down, a million more to go...

Luella had no idea if she should reply, but she thought it might be polite to do so. With a small sigh under her helmet that she had returned to her head, she replied, “I don’t... know. You’re a princess... you should wear your dresses.” Of course, this was only the opinion of a knight who hated wearing any kind of fluffy or frilled dress herself. Then again, Luella never really got to dress out of her knight armor unless she was finally able to sleep during the nighttime. The both of them were adults, but they had duties to fulfill and people to please, albeit different ones. Sometimes, Luella wondered if the princess ever really liked being as high held as she was...

She felt her move around on the horse and she looked back for a moment, seeing through the corner of her eye that the princess was watching the view behind them. Luella knew it was dangerous, but when did that ever stop Samantha? She sighed quietly again and fixed herself upon her horse, continuing until they arrived back at the castle. The king and queen were waiting at the entrance, relieved to see their daughter still intact. Luella only rolled her eyes under her helmet. When did the princess ever get hurt when she was out doing whatever?

Samantha groaned "No, no no. You're supposed to say I don't have to wear one. I mean you don't! Well then again Knights wouldn't cuz boys don't wear dresses...but still." she muttered with a sigh. Swinging her legs some, careful not to kick the horse, Sam started to hum some random tune happily as they made their way back to the castle. She wasn't to excited for whatever was coming up, the events never pleased her. The only thing she didn't mind were the casual dinners with her parents-not that those happened often.

Upon arriving home, Samantha glanced over her shoulder and grinned as she saw her parents waiting. Waving over the Knight she grinned happily "Hello! I'm back! Mr. Knight kept me safe!" she called jumping down and darting over. "Oh we were so worried! Stop running off like that Samantha! You're supposed to be a young lady not some wild animal" Mother scolds grabbing my ear and dragging me inside. "Ow! Ow! Owww! Okay, okay I get it Mother!" I wailed. She glared at me as we headed up to my chambers "I feel bad for your poor guard. He's got enough to handle and you're just making it worse. You're 21 for goodness sakes, start acting that way" Samantha only made a face and looked a different way.

Back outside, the King smiled gently at Luella. "Thank you for keeping an eye on her. I understand she's quite troublesome often enough." he said with a low chuckle. Turning slightly, he watched as his wife dragged their daughter inside, scolding her all the way. Shaking his head with an amused look, he turned back to the Knight "Would you like to join us for dinner tonight?"

Luella frowned underneath her helmet. For so long, Samantha had assumed she was a male, not a female. It appeared nobody ever disclosed such information to the pesky little princess and so Luella was forced to be gender stereotyped by the woman in which she watched over every day. It would bother her on normal occasions, but lately, she had gotten used to it. She had grown up around boys and competing with them to gain a spot in the kingdom where she was today. Suddenly, thinking of her successes, she smiled.

It was actually quite nice to see the queen and her daughter interacting like so, even if the princess refused to do over half the things that she said she would. Out of the blue, the king hand turned to her and started to speak, thanking her for all the trouble she had gone through to keep his daughter safe. "It was nothing, your majesty," she spoke back, hopping off of her horse to show a sign of respect. What he said next, though, surprised her. He was inviting her dinner... but Luella was unsure if she should go.

"Dinner, you say? Tonight?" she spoke quietly under her armor. She then removed her helmet with a soft smile on her face. Being around the king and queen reminded her of her own parents sometimes, especially seeing how they interacted with their daughter. Quickly, though, she straightened back up and with a clear of her throat, she replied, "I would love to join you for dinner if you would have me, sir... but, if I may ask, uhm... what would you like me to wear?"

"Alright, now clean her up and here's her dress!" the Queen said pushing her daughter to a couple servants waiting by the young Princess's room. "Yes my lady." they answered, bowing slightly before grabbing ahold of the princess. "Whoa whoa whoa! No dresses! Mother! I swear to the gods do not make me wear such a horrid thing!" Samantha hollered while being dragged into the bathroom. The Queen just rolled her eyes "Do what you can, I'll be back within the hour" she said before walking off. The servants nodded and continued to drag the stubborn Princess into the bathroom.

Outside, the King regarded the young Knight thoughtfully "Wear something comfortable but presentable. You can chose the specifics. Keep in mind though, it appears our daughter isn't the brightest star in the sky and has still not recognized you as a female. I'd rather she find out not at the dinner table." he said with a smile but a slight strict tone. The Queen made her reappearance, looking rather flustered and annoyed. "Seth! Can you please tell your daughter to stop acting like she's three!" she demanded pointing inside the castle. The King chuckled "Alright, I'll try my dear. Calm down and go clean up. Thank you Luella." he replies, nodding his head slightly at the Knight before turning and walking inside.

The Queen smiled "Sorry about that, I'm sure you how she is." she says with a long sigh. "How in the world does our King expect her to rule our kingdom some day?" she wondered more or less to herself. Shaking her head she stood up straight and looked at Luella "Anyway, will you be at dinner?"

With a smile, Luella nodded at her king. She would gladly do whatever she had to to keep the princess from going absolutely crazy at the dinner table. She thought it was a little odd that she still did not know she was a female, but Luella kind of expected it from a whacko princess like herself. She bid the king farewell when they parted ways and was about to leave when the queen had stopped her to talk to her. Luella respectfully stayed with her, listening to her apology. "I am her caretaker, I do understand she is quite insane sometimes, but it's not too much to deal with, of course."

She then asked if the knight would be at dinner tonight. "The king invited me to come, so I would like to if that's alright with you," she responded with proper manners, wanting to impress the queen. "The king has also already informed me on what I should wear, so I know what to show up in," she also said. Luella had never been to a dinner to eat, but only to stand by the doors and watch over. Tonight, though, she was going to be able to actually eat with the people whom she looked up to and worked for. Gears turned in her head... and she could only wonder what they would be serving on the dinner table tonight.

After exchanging a few more words with the queen, she parted ways with her and went off to get ready for tonight's feast. She decided on something that was not too feminine, but was more masculine to lead the princess on the wrong way once again. She never thought that she would be trying to disguise herself as another gender... but it was for the best. When she had finished her own preparations, she waited patiently to be told to go to the dinner.

After the Queen finished speaking with the Knight, she headed inside to see how things were going with her daughter. By now she was finished bathing and was fighting tooth and nail about wearing the dress. "I refuse to wear this!" she declared tossing the dress aside just as her Mother walked in. "Samantha!" her Mother barked with a sigh. The attendants bowed their respects, looking at the floor. "You may rise and be dismissed. Thank you for trying." the Queen says smiling gently. The two woman trying to cloth Samantha scurried out, closing the door quietly behind them.

"Hi Mother! I'm going to wear these okay?" she said already pulling on a pair of nice trousers and a plain shirt that clung to her body. Tucking the shirt in and pulling a buckle through the pant loops, she stood there quite proud. Lifting her family sword, she slung that around her waist, topping it off with a nice vert type thing. The Queen sighed and studied her daughter for a moment. "Fine, I approve. But next time, you're wearing a dress. We'll be having guests and you better be on your best behavior." she said with a steely look.

Samantha nodded "Yes Ma'am." Samantha agrees without an argument. "Good, now come on down for dinner. Send a maid to fetch the Knight and wait for them outside the dining hall." Samantha's Mother instructed before walking out briskly. "Melody?" Samantha called once her Mother left. A young woman walked in, "Yes Princess?". Samantha just smiled "Fetch Mr. Knight for me will you? Tell him to meet me in front of the dining hall." she instructed. Melody nodded and left.

Taking a deep breath and letting out a long sigh, Samantha turned and looked out her window thoughtfully for a long moment. "Well, let's see how things go." she murmured before walking out and down stairs.
